A word from Grange
Located in downtown Sacramento, America's Farm to Fork Capital, Grange is a culinary expression of all things local, reflecting the authentic essence and soul of the community.

The menu showcases the market-driven bounties from the state and is best described as simple, seasonal and soulful. Organically raised meats and poultry are complemented with the freshest produce available from the Central Valley, while sustainable coastal seafood is paired with a spectacular all-California wine list. The entrees are presented in a straightforward American brasserie style. Lastly, enjoy the creations from our pastry chef such as rustic artisan breads and desserts.

This Sacramento restaurant’s setting is both classic and authentic. The two-story space combines architectural elements from the building’s rich history with exposed beams and concrete columns to create a surprising and urbane, loft-like atmosphere.

Diner Reviews
  • "Excellent dinner!! The tuna tartare was amazing as always. The meatballs with polenta were the best I've ever had. The mussel chowder also excellent. Grange had always been fantastic for us. "

  • "As ever, the Grange was full of people enjoying good food and good service even tho it was early in the evening -- 5:45. Our waiter was really pleasant and helpful and didn't mind that we were having drinks and small plates. it was a pleasure to be in such a convivial place and to eat such fine pates and breads. "

  • "Location is great Love the looks and ambience. My son liked it so much (He was on a business trip and we met for lunch) he went back for a late night dinner. Quality of food was also great as was amount of food served"

  • "I recommended Grange to some friends visiting from Canada on a Monday night and they loved it, so I was excited to try it a week later. Service was ok at best. We were seated immediately (9 p.m. reservation), however, it took more than 10 minutes to be recognized by our waitor (completely unexpected in a restaurant like Grange). Our drinks took another 10 minutes to be delivered, and then it took another 10 minutes before we saw our waitor to order. At 9:30 p.m. we were pretty hungy. We seriously considered leaving and would have had it not been so late. My friend's fish was great, but my ravioli was ok. I'll give Grange another try in hopes that I can experience what others have."

  • "My husband and I took some friends out for a birthday celebration and we were all extremely pleased with both the quality of the food and the service. Everyone had a great time and a very leisurely dinner. This restaurant was recommended by a friend who happens to be an excellent chef, and we aggree"

  • "Food was great - really great flavors, but service was slow considering that there were not a lot of people in the restaurant. Was happy with the food, disappointed with the service. Would go back again though and would recommend to others as well."

  • "We had a lovely brunch at Grange for my sister-in-law's birthday. Nice, upscale venue. Service was attentive. Food was good, nice presentation, but maybe a little on the pricey side ($15 French toast, with no sides). Overall, nice brunch and would try again for lunch or dinner. Only downside, bathroom is very hard to find, outside of restaurant in hotel, have to go down stairs to basement."

  • "Friendly and knowledgeable waiter. Great food and wine."

  • "Very fresh food, tasted delicious and prepared perfectly. Seating is a bit uncomfortable, could have more lower tables as the atmosphere is a bit drab and dull. Staff could be more friendly, they do not look happy to work there. Make sure you leave your valet ticket with the waiter when you pay the bill otherwise it's going to be difficult to track someone down to pay afterwards. Also it takes a while to get your car from valet parking so prepare for that. Not sure why OpenTable asks for a comment when the reservation is made if it is a special occasion, what is done with that? The restaurants I have gone to never acknowledge if it's a birthday, etc."

  • "very busy lobby upon arrival and no one to direct you to reception.Private party gathering made check in a little hectic, otherwise a very nice dining experience. A touch pricy but great food ad wine!"

  • "Our first time there, we enjoyed a family celebration at Grange with a variety of adult beverages, oysters and beets, entrees and side dishes. Every dish was good, some were excellent. Food is rich. Restaurant is attractive and comfortable--but prepare for a long hike to the restrooms!"

  • "Wonderfully adventurous drinks and dishes, incredible flavors, and top-shelf service. Was a bit noisy, and the table wasn't as private as we prefer, but it was a memorable experience. Priced for big nights out, but quality matched."

  • "This started out as a business dinner and then turned into a great group event when a friend of mine noticed me and invited us over to her table. Before that, the wine, service and food were delicious. The wait staff are so professional but not the hovering types. Tuna tartare was so fantastic as an appetizer I ordered it for my entree too. The Lundberg rice pudding is a revelation."

  • "The food and wait staff were very good. This was the first visit for my husband and he was very impressed. It was a Tuesday evening and the place was hopping at 6:00 pm. We had reservation, I recommend getting one in advance, and were seated promptly with our table held as reserved. Everything was great - from the Flat-bread appetizer to the Gnocchi to the Hanger Steak!"

  • "My husband and I went to Grange for our anniversary dinner on a Wednesday night. They were busy but the service and food did not suffer because of it. We had great service and our food was delicious. I felt like we were treated with special attention."

  • "Very quiet. The Brunch scene is very slow here. The menu compared to dinner was less inspiring, but the food was excellent. Food here is excellent, but a bit pricey. Reservations were easy."

  • "Had dinner at the Grange Sat. Night. Food was very good & tasty, dinners included the pork chops, steak, cod and trout. Service was great and timely. At times it was noise and thought it was a little over priced, but worth the experience. I would rate it 4 stars out of 5. We need restaurants like this in Sacramento."

  • "We enjoyed all of our entrees! We each had something different but were delighted with each other's selection! Loved the signature cocktails and wine by the glass selections! This is our 5th time to eat at Grange and we leave very happy!! Celebrating our 21 year old daughters straight A's in premed!!"

  • "The upper room at The Grange is a great venue for small group (15-20 max) dining. My company has used it several times for business dinners and found the staff very accommodating, the food always excellent, the wine choices interesting and the whole place a great one for stimulating conversation."

  • "We had stopped going to The Grange, but heard there was a "new" chef, so gave it another whirl. Glad we did! All three dishes were very tasty, including the gnocchi and the quail. Lots of southwestern influence, we were told. Not sure that I tasted that so much, but the combination of flavors was yummy. Definitely will go back."

  • "Great spot to bring out of town guests. They enjoyed the seafood specials and so did I. Wait staff was attentive. Food was hot and tasty. I will come back again and again."

  • "We took my 96 year old aunt our for her birthday. We have eaten at Grange several times before and always had a good experience. She was pleased that it was quiet enough to hear the conversation at the table, and the food was tasty, locally sourced and well-executed as always. We will continue to visit whether for a special occasion or for an exceptional lunch or dinner out together."

  • "Grange is a common go-to for special occasions and the experience has previously always been excellent. At a recent brunch however the service was poor even for an everyday food chain restaurant. We sat at our table with no appearance from our waiter until I asked for an additional menu, more silverware & water, and a request to place our order. The meal itself was excellent as usual but our server disappeared again after the meal arrived as opposed to the server in the next sectio who was noticeably attentive, friendly & engaging with his diners. We will return to Grange again and hope that this service experience will be the exception and not the new rule."

  • "We were staying at the Citizen Hotel and a friend recommended the Grange for dinner. It was an awesome find and we would return, even if we weren't staying at the hotel! Food was fresh, creative and delicious! Service was attentive without being intrusive."

  • "Excellent dining outing. Our waitperson was one of the best I have EVER experienced in many years and many hundreds of 'class' restaurants around the world. If you offered six stars for service, this guy earned all of them. The room is well designed, plenty of space, and an almost elegant feeling. My two companions and I had two seafood entrees and a fowl, and all were well prepared, presented, and enjoyed. The Grange signature dessert is not to be missed."

  • "We had a group of 8 people, and were sat at a round table. At first, I thought this was going to be great, but the noise level was such that we could only hear to talk to the people on either side of us. The food was wonderful, as was the service -- I only wish we could have heard each other a bit better."

  • "This restaurant has gone down hill very quickly. Not worth the money or time.."

  • "We are foodies. Fresh, organic, local fare is our favorite, making Grange's seasonal menu a good choice. This was our fourth or fifth visit and it will probably be our last. The entree we ordered was inedible, with the exception of the sauces. I won't offer a creative description... suffice it to say that we go to excellent restaurants for the food AND the service. While the service was exceptional and our entree was comped when we offered feedback to the server and the manager (who came to us to apologize.) we would still not return, because at the end of the day, one plate of food THAT inedible....free or not ..... destroyed the experience and kept us both awake with upset stomachs. I don't recommend that you take the risk."

  • "Everything was outstanding! The menu changes every so often and it is diverse. There is something for everyone!"
    Dined on 3/3/2014
  • "Brunch was very good, but there are a lot of options out there. Entrees were priced reasonably for the quality. However, five bucks for a cup of coffee, and seven bucks to park (no validation, and scarce street parking available in a questionable area). That's just wrong."

  • "AMBIENCE: We blew into the Grange during a windy rainstorm and were swiftly ushered to a warm, attractively set, well lit table for two. The noise level was just right for a conversation for two. FOOD: We began with a tuna tartar that was mild and fresh. This was followed with a side of tasty minted beets. His main was sea bass and hers was flash fried skin-on whole boneless trout. Both were cooked to perfection and very simply garnished. We would have liked more vibrant and surprising flavors. SERVICE: impeccable and unobtrusive. VALUE: Wine seemed expensive, with a few bottles starting at $27 and going way up from there. Dinners with meat or fish started at $27. Since we were there for a special occasion, these prices were acceptable."
