A word from Grange
Located in downtown Sacramento, America's Farm to Fork Capital, Grange is a culinary expression of all things local, reflecting the authentic essence and soul of the community.

The menu showcases the market-driven bounties from the state and is best described as simple, seasonal and soulful. Organically raised meats and poultry are complemented with the freshest produce available from the Central Valley, while sustainable coastal seafood is paired with a spectacular all-California wine list. The entrees are presented in a straightforward American brasserie style. Lastly, enjoy the creations from our pastry chef such as rustic artisan breads and desserts.

This Sacramento restaurant’s setting is both classic and authentic. The two-story space combines architectural elements from the building’s rich history with exposed beams and concrete columns to create a surprising and urbane, loft-like atmosphere.

I went with three other people to the Grange and enjoyed the experience thoroughly. The food was tasty, the choices for wines by the glass were good and the service was quite good. The food took quite a while to be served, but fortunately the company was good and the wait did not seem excessive. My tablemates had the the scallops and the chicken - all of which they enjoyed. I would try it again.

We had the cheese plate and the ahi tuna to start. The cheeses offered were amazing. Joined with the honey, nuts and berries...oh yeah. The tuna was refreshing and tasty. I had the wantanabe tomato salad before the scallops. The scallops were a good size and seared perfectly. The corn risotto was prepared perfectly and pair with the scallops well. Our waiter was funny and but very busy. He got his job done didn't spend a lot of time chit chatting. Which is fine. Brought family from out of town. A sister who is pretty picky and she didn't complain at all. That in itself is a great review. :-).

Service was very good. The staff brought the great bread right away. The food was OK. When ordering mussels the highlight is the broth!! Who needs the mussels if you have the broth! The broth was like water. Game over. Scallops was large and showy but not quite right.

Loved the atmosphere at the restaurant, but the food is hit or miss. Some menu items outstanding/delicious - others just not good. Based on this most likely will not go back. We were a group of 6 so tried many items on the menu - appetizers, salads, entrees, sides and desserts. Again about 1/2 of what we tried was outstanding to good, and the other half just not good.

with the bar customers standing right behind us, it was hard to have a conversation. Clark, our server was outstanding. The food was good but I really dislike not having a clue as to what some of the terms on the menu meant. I think we will go back to restaurants where they describe their dishes in plain English that we understand. I looked up several of the words used to explain their offerings and they were pretty obscure

We had a wonderful family brunch at Grange. The Bloody Mary lovers at our table raved about Grange's Bloody Mary! I had the Green Eggs & Ham which is scrambled eggs with pesto. You have to try their bacon - it's fantastic! We got an extra order of fries for the table because they are excellent. I highly recommend brunch at the Grange.

The cut of tri-tip steak used in the salad I ordered on this visit was riddled with connective tissue and gristle. It was very tough to cut with a steak knife, let alone chew. This was surprising as I ordered the same menu item on 9/11 and it was succulent and delicious. The rest of the salad elements were perfect. Maybe this piece of meat was an anomaly, and it won't deter me from dining here again, but I will definitely ask the server to ensure the tri-tip cut used next time is more of a center cut versus where the connective tissue is. On a very positive note, the service was exceptional per usual and the kitchen delivered complimentary zucchini fries to our party.

La Grange is what you get when you take the best, freshest local ingredients and put them into the hands of a talented Chef like Oliver Ridgeway. How it took me so long to discover La Grange is beyond me. The Green Bean Caesar Salad is just one example of Chef's amazing imagination. Both the Zabuton and the Ribeye were tender and with a depth of flavor as good as you can get. The Diver Scallops and the Passmore Ranch Trout were prepared exquisitely. Add to the great food a waiter like Roger, who's descriptions of the food made our mouths water and who's attention to detail was impeccable, and an expertly selected wine list that included some off-the-charts local wineries that you can't find anywhere else, and you have La Grange.

Familiar menu choices using unusual ingredients. As much as possible they use local growers for the produce and it makes a difference! The starters are unusual and all so interesting that it is difficult to pick one. Fun cocktails and twists on standard favorites on the desert menu too. Good, friendly service. We've been many times since they opened. sometimes most or all of the entres are good to great while some very average. this time 2 of the 3 were very good, one wasn't grange worthy. service is rarely fast but this time it was uncharacteristically slow. the place is always pretty and enjoyable place to dine aesthetically, it doesn't seem like the food has consistently lived up to the ambience. we keep bringing people trying to get more people to catch on. when their feeling is like i've described here recruitment is going slow.

The service was wonderful except for the wait person telling me how I should eat my salad. I was part way through it and hadn't poked the poached egg yet to mix the yoke into the salad. I didn't need an explanation of how or when to do it. Please don't assume I'm stupid just because I eat my green bean caesar differently than you would. Think a minute. Why would I have ordered a salad with a poached egg, if I didn't know what to do with it? Food fabulous, by the way.

Five of us went for dinner and really enjoyed the service and attention we received from Tiffany and sharing a series of small plates. We participated in our own olive oil dipping tests; plowed through the cheeses and meat tray; the Tuna Tartare; the ribs; the noodles; fresh bean Cesar salad; and two people actually shared the "Mary's Chicken...". We consumed lots of tasty fresh bread and two hours later were too full for dessert, so, we promised we would return and start with the dessert menu and work backwards. It was a fun evening with really enjoyable creative choices of food treats.

The Grange promised a lot, and delivered, in our recent visit. I read some great reviews of the restaurant in my search for a special place, before arriving in town, and was pleased that my own impressions matched the great reviews I read. When I arrived a bit early, the staff graciously seated me, enabling me to wait comfortably for my fellow dining companion. The dinner menu reflected the seasonal bounty of Sacramento - the greens with goat cheese I had as a starter were outstanding, as was the sustainably caught seared tuna. I'd highly recommend this restaurant to all visitors and residents of Sacramento!

The five of use absolutely loved each dish that came to the table - such wonderful flavor and combinations of farm fresh food. The chef had prepared the menu using not only food that was in season, but it was planned with the very hot weather in mind. The choices were bright and light (and by light, I do not mean insubstantial. There was plenty of food - flavorful combinations that didn't leave you sweating...) The service was the best I believe I've ever had. The server educated us about the menu, the food choices, a recent book he'd read....he was very attentive without interrupting our social time or making us feel we needed to move through our courses. Delightful man We will go back. Many times. I recommend this restaurant to anyone.

If you like to have smaller portions and a wide variety of flavors, go for multiple choices off the small plates selections. We choose to have a custom cheese and charcuterie plate served. It was delicious. We followed up with a couple of other choices from the menu. This is a great way to experience the potential of the chef. You can taste a wide variety of foods and not get stuck with a full entrée portion. We be back as the season change and the menu changes with it.
