  • "This was our second time dinning here and it was fabulous! Our first time we had lunch while wine tasting and the second visit we had dinner. Menu is small but everything we have had is amazing! I had the filet minion with mash potatoes and grilled vegetables and there wasn't a speck of food left on my plate;it was that good! Dessert was also excellent and of course the wine. Definitely recommend this place!"

  • "Some truly outstanding dishes and a few that are a bit off the mark; seafood and vegetarian dishes are memorable, but red meat is hit or miss, depending on the cut. The menu changes regularly and the daily specials are fun & tasty. Grandale has an outstanding selection of local wines and even some organic options. The servers are knowledgeable and accommodating as well as very friendly, rounding out a pleasurable dining experience."

  • "This is a lovely place to dine, country casual with vistas of Loudoun's lush countryside. My husband and I went to enjoy a romantic dinner, and it was, especially as we dined on the outside deck on a beautiful evening. The food was excellent, but you need to order sides, because the sides that came with the meal were really more decorative, at least for my meal. But if you order a starter, and plan on dessert, the entree size is perfect."

  • "My husband and I found this restaurant as we were looking for possible caterers for our daughters wedding. It was a spur of the moment decision to go and we were not disappointed. On first entering the restaurant we were a little apprehensive due to the lack of decor and the "plane jane" look. (The weather was not great so we were not able to sit outside). However, all was forgiven as our meal was served. The wine was great and not outrageously priced, and the food....YUM! The salad was so fresh and had these candied bacon bits on it, simply divine! My lamb actually tasted like lamb! And my husbans steak melted in the mouth. All was served quickly and with a friendly smile. We are definitely planning on going back!"

The small dining room was pleasant and the menu options all sounded good. Service was wonderful. The drive from the Fairfax area was lovely and helped make this a great day trip."

  • "We had extremely high expectations of this restaurant based on its reputation. We came here for my birthday. The meal was good but not outstanding. My food was not hot (which I am picky about) and my meat was not cooked to my liking but it was too dark outside to really see it well enough to send it back so I just brought it home for leftovers. The soup special was quite watery. All in all, it was a pricey meal that didn't meet our expectations."

  • " The Grandale Restaurant scenic setting is worthy of a visit. However, the restaurant is equal to the scenic setting. It is American cuisine, prepared with local ingredients, and with knowledgeable servers. The four of us had various appetizers, wines, and entrees. Each item was outstanding. and the choice of vegetables fresh with a light seasoning. A surprise for all of us were the gruyere grits, the best we ever had. The orange roughy is perfect, however I wanted 2nds and 3rds. The pork porterhouse was tender, moist, flavorful and big. Bring and appetite. The wine choices recommended by the the server complimented our choices. "

Whether you order meat or seafood, the entree is always perfectly cooked, the side dishes perfectly complement the main dish, and the wines, many of which are local from Loudoun County wineries, are outstanding. Our most recent dining experience was a tasting night, where a four course meal is paired with four wines. The wines chosen matched each course beautifully, and the service was topnotch."

  • "We made reservations for 11:30, right after church. The drive to Grandale Restaurant is filled with scenic views. When we arrived, 30 minutes before our reservation time, the hostess was pleasant and offered us any table we wanted to sit at. We decided to sit inside, but the outside patio was invitingly set up with colorful table settings, table umbrellas, and unobstructed view of the adjoining fields. The waitress knew the menu inside and out, and when we asked about a specific item, she describe the ingredients, the preparation method, and how it would taste. We ordered. The food was prepared quickly and served. All four of us had selected something different. It was all delicious. In all, a very enjoyable brunch."

  • "They had several salads, sandwiches and appetizers to choose from and between the 4 of us we tried several items on the menu and all were prepared PERFECTLY! Scallops for an appetizer were some of the BEST we've had. Flavorful & heated perfectly to ensure the right texture, taste and feel. The seasoning was delicious! The sautéed pears that were on the baby spinach salad were amazing! Roasted corn and leek soup... AMAZING!!! The desserts were simply amazing too! Their crème brûlée with chocolate chips was soooo tasty! What a GREAT combo! And we couldn't resist also trying the chocolate decadence cake - Great choice as well! The young lady we had serving us was GREAT! She was very knowledgeable about the menu and offered excellent service!!"

  • "Grandale is a wonderful restaurant located at 868 Winery. Food is always great! The jerked tuna sandwich is heavenly. This weekend special, crab and shrimp cake was delicious. Should be a regular on the menu. Love how the food is served with a small salad and fresh fruit. Be sure to try some of the 868 wines or go over to the wine tasting room. You won't be dissapointed. "

  • "It was a chilly, damp night so we were seated next to the fireplace which gave a lovely ambience to the room as the big windows offer amazing views of the rolling hills. The service was immediately friendly & inviting, but most importantly the food was appealing & so delicious. I had the chicken that was cooked perfectly & so were the crispy vegetables; my husband had the steak which was cooked to his specifications and so enjoyed. They have a lovely selection of tea to top off the meal...you can even smell the samples first...and of course a scrumptious slice of flourless chocolate cake. It was indeed a lovely evening and one we would gladly revisit."

  • "I was a bit unhappy because their signature dish, crabcake Benedict was unavailable. After being told that other crabcake dishes could be had I asked if the chef had run out of English muffins or Bernaise sauce and was told the problem had something to do with the eggs!! My wife and I both ordered the omelete (no problem with those eggs!) and a bottle of the local chardonnay. The food was unexpectedly delicious and the wine was pleasantly crisp and tasty, not cloyingly sweet like so many others of its ilk. We wound it up with coffee and and a yummy dessert. We will definitely return. The drive is long but lovely. I spent more than I intended but that is my fault! "

  • "We looked for a place to meet friends half way and this looked perfect - it wasn't. Our appetizers came out relatively quickly, but then there was a huge wait. Others, who came in after we did, got not only their appetizers but their entrees. When three of our four entrees finally arrived, they had clearly been sitting for some time. Gnocchi was rubbery with a crunchy edge. The third entree, a filet, according to the waiter was overcooked (requested medium rare) so the chef was remaking it. He said it would only be a matter of a few minutes. Many minutes later, the rest of us had almost finished, the filet appeared - it was raw in the middle. While we were given complimentary desserts, it really didn't make up for the rest of the evening."

  • "Not being a "wine gal", I wanted a brunch/lunch option to take a very special family friend as a "just because". The drive out to the winery was absolutely beautiful and the winding roads made feel like I was temporary back in SWVa. We were very quickly seated (I had reservations) and the view was just GORGEOUS. Our server was really sweet and informative and our food was wonderful. We had corn leek chowder and the smoked turkey sandwich. Very filling and refreshing. I could have sat here all day and sipped mimosas......."

  • "We always try to have brunch or lunch when doing a wine trip to Loudon County. The outdoor area was open, it was out of the wind, and the sun was almost as good as the food. They do a great job on the food and service. I had a simple tenderloin and salad that was prepared to perfection. The steak was perfectly cooked and more importantly seasoned. The salad was crisp and went very well with the steak. This is a great place, but you need to make a reservation in advance."

  • "Every 5 years we go to a 5-star restaurant for our anniversary. Since this was an "off year" we went a little more low key, but if our 20th is going to top our 19th I guess we have to return or head back to the Inn at Little Washington. Most wine selections are from the producer on site, the remainder are from Va. wineries with few other bottles-disappointing at first. We each chose a flight($12) of 3 Va. wines- 1 enjoyable, 4 very good, 1 outstanding, all generous pours. We split an appetizer and a soup, 2 salads, 2 entrees and 3 desserts (one for the kids) out the door under $200. The highlight of my meal was a Pork Porterhouse-perfect with the 868 Meritage. My wife's scallops had been plucked from the ocean and into the pan."

  • "I recently had occasion to dine at Grandale for a long-overdue evening out with my mother. The food was excellent -- tasty but not overwrought. I had the quail for an appetizer, a dish I had never tried before, and was not disappointed. The duck was flavorful and moist. Service was attentive, the atmosphere is cozy and I'd love to return when the weather warms up to enjoy the patio seating and some lovely views. We'll be back."

  • "This was such a great find. The BF and I were leaving Charleston a couple of weeks ago after a Saturday night stay and I just have to say - WOW! The BF had the steak omelette with caramelized onions with delicious other goodies and I had the Local BLT w/ Mozzarella. It is easily the best BLT that either of us have had. So much so that I tried to recreate it the next day. His omelette was delicious also, but that really was an amazing BLT. The service was top notch and the view was beautiful, even though it was overcast and drizzling. It's a hard to find gem that has beautiful scenery of the 868 Estate Vineyards, which we will visit in the spring for brunch and wine tasting. I cannot wait to go back to try everything else!"
