The dining room is nicer than some of the other branches, with tablecloths and a bit of decor, and the staff is much friendlier and more accommodating. The food isn't quite as good as what you get at the Chelsea branch, but some dishes were outstanding, including the whole braised fish in spicy hot bean sauce and cilantro chicken."

The vegetables and tofu dish was a bit disappointing because the tofu was a weird consistency. Also, the steamed vegetable dumplings were dry and very doughy.Service was good and this is a good restaurant for groups."

  • "Grand Sichuan is my go-to spot for Chinese food these days. I love the food at the Chelsea location, and this was only my second visit to the West Village locale. Chelsea is packed and tacky, but the food is miraculous. The village spot is quieter and a bit more up-scale. Food was uneven the night I was there, but I'll take the blame for poor ordering. When the waiter tried to dissuade me from the "Fresh Kill Chicken" I insisted. When it arrived, bland and disappointing, I ordered another dish."
