  • "Very pleasant experience last Saturday. Very good menu selection, tasty food and terrific wine selection by glass or bottle. We also enjoyed prompt, friendly service and a Manager following up to make sure we were pleased. This is a MUCH better choice than Solaia next door which has bad food and worse service."

  • "This was my second time at grand cru and again service was terrible. We never got all our food and left hungry. Took 1 hour to get our appetizers."

  • "I wasn't aware this was just to the right of the theatre, so this would be an ideal destination on a show night. My flatbread pizza with wild mushrooms and the heavenly scent of truffles was excellent, as was the scallops over a celery root puree. My dining companion really enjoyed her Kobe beef sliders, and her sundried cranberry(!) butternut squash ravioli had just the right touch of sweetness. Winners all around!"

  • "from when we walked in until we left the service was poor. the salmon was dried out, and the scallops were cooked well but ordinary. the only thing this restaurant has going for it is a nice wine list. would be good for a drink at the bar, but nothing more."

  • "Our daughter asked to go to Grand Cru to celebrate her 21st Birthday. The have a great selection of wines by the glass, and a very fun menu of tasty small plates. We will definitely go back."

  • "This was our second visit to Grand Cru, and it didn't disappoint. Great food, good drinks, and excellent service. Will definitely be back"

  • "The wine list was outstanding. For appetizer, we shared the buffalo mozzarella - good but not outstanding. My friends had the steak and the Grand Cru tacos. They enjoyed those very much. I had the Kobe beef sliders from the small plates menu. The burgers were nothing to write home about - a little dry, pickles were good -but the French fries were outstanding! For dessert we shared the creme brulee and the "special" dessert, which turned out to be a Nutella pizza with strawberries. Excellent in theory, but the "pizza" crust was like a pita bread or something and was rubbery and lacked taste. We ended up eating the Nutella and strawberries off the top instead. Our server was lovely and attentive. The restaurant seemed very loud!"

  • "Grand Cru is located right next to NJ PAC theater so it was a great choice to go before a concert. The wine menu is extensive and reasonable and the food menu was very nice. There is a large menu for small plates which was perfect as well as a nice selection of cheeses. The beef tacos were excellent, the cheeses we ordered were excellent, the mac & cheese was eh, and the fig and prosciutto pizza was awesome!! The service had a lot to be desired with the waitress disappearing when we were done eating, and it took her 15 minutes to show up so I can order a cappuccino. The ambiance is very nice, feels like you are in a bistro in NYC. I would definitely go back."

  • "Have dined here on a number of occasions with generally very small minuta issues here and there; however, this particular visit, the waitress, took special note to ask if we were there prior to a concert event starting next door, which we were. Somehow her attentiveness ended there! We never saw her again! We barely made the show with 3 minutes to spare since we were getting up and asking for the check ourselves. No drink refills, wrong side dishes, charged twice for the correct sides, no desserts, food overcooked... Just all wrong. Very disappointing."

  • "The décor sets you up to expect it to live up to its promise of being a sophisticated wine bar.Sucker! A handful of wines by the glass & half of which you see in average winestores. Last night I walked in, bar full, the area around the bar, high tables with stools was more than half empty. I walked up to the unsmiling hostess. We both stood looking at the full bar as if we were watchng a slow sunset. She said. "Um. it looks full." OK how about here? Um, those are tables. Are they reserved? Yeah. So I step out and promptly make a reservation for 2. Then back inside I tell her I've got a reservation. Um. OK. I guess you could sit here. That's the place in a nutshell. Oh, and the glass of Carrignan I ordered? Too sour to drink. So scrud"

  • "I have been to Grand Cru many times. It was originally just a great find for a place to go before concerts at Bergen PAC, and I've taken many friends and family members there for dinner since then. The food is always delicious and the wine list, including reasonable options by the glass, is great. We have always found the service to be a bit absent, but when when we're just hanging out for the evening. that's OK. When we tell them we have to get done in time for a show, they do make it happen. However, there have been a few occassions when the service was just inexcusably non-existent. My overall rating for this restaurant would be Very Good to Outstanding otherwise."

  • "We were going to a concert next store that started at 8PM. Our reservations were for 6:30. We were seated at 6:30 and our food was served at 7:55!!! Five mins before the concert. They tried their best, very courteous, a glass of wine on the house, however, very stressful evening. When we wanted to cancel our order, they kept saying it would be right out. I would not go there again before a concert next store ."

  • "We went on a Friday night. I had heard about the place and read reviews that seemed favorable. Once seated our waitress seemed very distracted and took our food order than drink order. Food was ok not great considering the price points. Waitress brought another round for myself and someone else in my party and brought him a beer and said "it's almost frozen" and then after we realized it was not the same beer. My wife's salad was brought several minutes after the rest of us received our appetizers. The waitress appeared to be clueless or didn't care that things were not going well. When we got our bill they overcharged for my wife's salad and we brought it to the attention if another waitress who took care if it immediately."

  • "Even though we had a reservation, the hostess wanted to seat us at a SMALL high top table in the bar area. We couldn't understand because the back dinning room was empty. She said those tables were all reserved, well, we had a reservation too !!! She finally sat us at a regular table in the bar area. When we left the restaurant, there were tables in the dining room still empty. The food was good, our server was very dull and uninterested in her job. We will give this place one more chance."

  • "If you are looking for a place to meet the girls so that you can catch up with out dealing with a loud bar scene, this is the spot for you. Yummy small plates as well as full dinner entrees. Great wine list and cocktails. Relaxing vibe and great service! This would be great for a date night as well!"

  • "We visited for dinner and a show. We were asked on being seated if we were going to the show and our meal was timed perfectly. Scallops were incredible, I must say they were the best I've had. My wife had pizza which was also excellent. Wine selection had something for everyone. I would highly recommend."

  • "I picked this restaurant on Open Table after reading other reviews. The food was good, the dining room was fine and the service adequate. My friend and I were looking for a reasonably priced restaurant, with a varied menu and good parking that was midway between our homes. This fit our needs."

  • "This is a perfect place to have a snack or a meal. The food is great and so is the service. We shared a salad, appetizer and we both had their hanger steak. A glass of wine topped the dinner off. Great place."

  • "Overall it is a good restaurant but they have to get their act together, they mixed our order with the table next to ours and when we ask for the check they were over charging us over $100, we ordered a $58 bottle of wine and our bill came with $78 for the wine and a $55 charge for another item, we noticed the girl in charge of writing the checks was sitting at the bar eating and drinking so she would get up whenever needed and went to the computer to write the checks"

  • "We ordered wine and several small plates. The foold was excellent, however the small plates were tiny. It would have been fine if we were just going for drinks and a nosh but this was dinner. We asked the waitress if several small plates would be enough, and she recommended 5 which is what we ordered and it was very really not enought. We had to leave for an 8 oclock show, and service was slow, we got there at 6:30. We will give it another try but order differently, because each of the very tiny plates we had were delicious. I would try entrees or just go for a drink and a snack."

  • "Restaurant had a nice fresh vibe. All the staff was very friendly. We were seated immediately. Restaurant was filled but not crowded. We ordered a bunch of small plates and drinks. Waiter helpfully offered the advice that we should see how large these plates were before ordering 6 entrees for 6 people. All of the appetizers were great. Standouts were the fig prosciutto pizza and grilled octopus. White bean salad was too simply a plate of white beans. Cheese and cure meat platter could have been made more interesting with some sides like a chutney or mustard accompaniment. Hanger steak was exellent as were the sliders. We will come back."

  • "A recent Saturday evening dinner here was quite pleasing. It must however be stated that the wine list is very expensive and that cheaper wines by the bottle or even by the glass are not good! Perhaps a cocktail may be a better idea for those unwilling to pay $50/ bottle or above $15/glass."

  • "great food, service and ambiance. when we were there it was not crowded. big crowd left in time for the show at the bergen pac next door. so it was quiet for us. don't know when it is fuller."

  • "Good restaurant right next door to the Bergen PAC. This place does not have an extensive menu but does have a decent variety of small plates and entrees. Everything was good, and service prompt, with no problem making our show on time despite being a little late."
