Diner Reviews
  • "This restaurant was absolutely gorgeous! I loved the inside and the food was wonderful. My waiter, Greg, was very sweet and went above and beyond for my friend and I. Definitely coming back."

  • "Brunch, service, ambience and seating for wedding party was all exceptionally good! All LOVED the wide variety and quality of food served for brunch. Pianist playing some favorites also a nice touch. Recommending this venue for special occasions or just a really good place for a Sunday brunch to treat the "cook" in your family for a "no cooking day" outing. Thanks GC staff!"

  • "The Sunday brunch was absolutely wonderful. We celebrated my Son's birthday there instead of going to dinner. All 7 of us were extremely pleased with the food, the service, the atmosphere....simply everything. I will definitely be going back before the next birthday and I told all who would listen to me about the wonderful experience we had."

  • "Went for our 1 year wedding anniversary. Decided to do the brunch buffet. Got seated in a little closed in porch along the side of the building, which was nice but lacked the ambiance of the gorgeous main room. Couldn't really hear the live piano. Food was good, not great. Serving stations were kinda showhorned in to the nooks and crannies of the main room. Server was nice, fairly attentive, but kept pushing a paid membership rewards club membership on us. Didn't like the sales pitch to get the check. I put "wedding anniversary" under special instructions just to see what, if anything, they would do. They really didn't even mention it. I would definitely go back, maybe with a group to sit in the main room, but expectations slightly lowered."

  • "I would recommend Grand Concourse to anyone. The old architecture is to die for and the view of downtown Pittsburgh is excellent. Both of these in themselves really set the atmosphere of the place. To top it off the service was top notch and everyone seemed very knowledgeable about all that was asked by our table. The food was exquisite. Our table had a mix of filet, seafood, chicken, and greens. We are all in agreement that everything we got was to die for! Some of the best surf and turf I've ever had."

  • "My husband and I tried Grand Concourse during restaurant week and the food was tasty, but nothing to brag about. However, our table next to the window allowed us to dine while enjoying the marvelous view at night overlooking the river. It was worth it just for the view alone. Our server had a wonderful personality as well. The dessert we ordered was no longer available that night, so the chef allowed us to choose any dessert we wanted without charging us any extra which resulted in excellent customer service."

  • "My husband and I celebrated our 10th Anniversary here and it was a wonderful and memorable moment in time for us. I love the Grand Concourse and have yet to be disappointed in the food, service or atmosphere!!"

  • "Don't know how they stay in business. Our waitress just wasn't around. Couldn't get our water glasses refilled. Food very average to below average. The decor is beautiful but you go to a restaurant to eat - not sightsee. The menu and staff needs a reboot. Go and look at the stain glass but eat somewhere else."

  • "Service was great once we were seated. Our reservation was for noon but we weren't seated until 12:30 and the check in staff wasnt very attentive. Excellent value for the brunch. Grand Concourse is one of my favorite restaraunts."

  • "I was able to make my reservation at 6am when it was convenient for me. We walked in and it is always breathtaking to see the beauty of the building. Our waitress was perfect and as always so professional and my one year old granddaughter enjoyed all the attention from her. The food was great , everyone was stuffed and fully enjoyed."

  • "Arrived with only about an hour before close. There were very few tables in use, which I thought would be a bonus, but they were pushing everyone into one scenic corner. The only issue I had was that we were kind of crammed in when we didn't need to be, the the two couples behind us were talking at 85 dB, it was like I was a part of the conversation, unwillingly. If it had gone on any longer I would have asked to move. It may not have been an issue if there was any additional background noise, but it was quiet for that part of the night. Food was great, as were the cocktails. Ate off of both their specialty and main menu."

  • "The Grand Concourse is a sight to see! The interior of the building has much of the original seating and fixtures of the old rail station. Redone, it is beautiful and the stained glass windows and ceiling were amazing. It had a nice menu and the food was delicious."

  • "We decided to try the Grand Concourse brunch as it was recently advertized as one of the 100 best brunch locations in the US. It was worthy of the accolades as it was exceptional in every category, food quality, quantity, selection, service and a terrific view of the city."

  • "The first half of our dining experience we were not impressed with the service. We had to track waiters down and it was difficult to just get our water refilled. The food was fantastic though and since brunch is such a self serve thing anyways we weren't too upset. By the end of the meal though we couldn't find anyone to get us a bill. Eventually a manager came over and comped our entire bill. It was a wonderful surprise and such a generous way to handle the situation. We were extremely impressed and will definitely return."

  • "Am a frequent partaker of the Sunday Brunch. This time I noted some changes in the food arrangement - all definitely for the better. Also had much better service than I have had in the past. I love the ambiance and take friends and family there quite often."

  • "Coming from out-of-town, planning our weekend visit to Pittsburgh. We were lured in by the fantastic photos of the Grand Concourse Dining Room, However, when we arrived we were ushered in to a side dining room with little to no character or other visual interest at all. As it happened, the main dining room was not open to any patrons as it was booked for a wedding. That was not indicated or advised when we made our reservation only days before...why not?!? Had we known we probably would have opted for another dining venue. The food was good, service was fast and good, but we were in from Cleveland and wanted to experience a bit more...afterall Pittsburgh, we can get fantastic food in Cleveland, we have an Iron Chef!"

  • "Always delicious food. Mixed drinks were excellent . Wine serving size lacking and pricey -- it's just wine. We dined for three hours and never felt rushed."

  • "The food was wonderful and flavorful. The service was great although, the waiter talked a little on the quiet side. The atmosphere is one of the best I've been to. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to somebody. I love that the main part of the restaurant used to be a train depot. The stained glass windows and decor is original."

  • "We had a nice table by the window and could watch the river traffic. Food was good. Service was excellent. We had a nice 43rd anniversary. Waitor even remembered that at the end of our meal. Loved that cheesecake!"

  • "I searched online for a great brunch place that had good views of the city. This was it! The brunch buffet is huge varying from lox and bagels to roast beef. Get the bananas foster on a Belgian waffle! Great place to bring visitors to Pittsburgh!"

  • "Thanks to the General Manager who helped us with this special group Graduation event our family planned. I can't say enough about the service, and excellent food all our guests enjoyed for the Sunday Brunch. Once again I will be back with friends and family, a great place to dine in Pittsburgh! Top Notch as always!"

  • "So this was our second time around for a sunday brunch. It very difficult to find something negative to say about this place. I enjoy everything about it from decor to live pianist. If there is one thing that I could change I would bring more variety to the menu as it was almost the same items 2 sundays later."

  • "Extremely disappointed with our dining experience Made a reservation for 4. Bill was just under 300$ however only 2 people are the food Both chicken dishes were undercooked which is a disgrace in today's society with the knowledge of the dangers around undercooked chicken Will never be back"

  • "After making a reservation we arrived, were seated and flat out ignored for almost twenty minutes (the restaurant wasn't busy, we made reservations at the last minute). I had to go find the manager to get some attention and along with profuse apologies, our food began to appear, but we clearly remained an afterthought. The food left so much to be desired I am not sure where to start - even my steamed cauliflower had so much salt on it, it burned. I mistakenly ordered coconut shrimp which was so salty and spicy, I couldn't taste coconut at all, not to mention the shrimp weren't fresh. While we appreciated the attempted save from the management team, I wouldn't go back for all the reasons mentioned above. Loved the views!!"

  • "We went to the Grand Concourse for our wedding anniversary. I made the reservations online which was very simple, it was my first time dining there. When you walk in it's such a beautiful place, so well kept and clean, makes you feel like you stepped back into the 30's, just breathtaking. We were seated out by the big open windows with the river view and we had a little two person private table that was "reserved" since it was our anniversary! The waiter was awesome, very attentive always filling our drinks even before they were empty, making sure we had everything we needed. The food was mouthwatering, from the bread and salmon spread w/crackers, to the main dishes, everything was wonderful! I would highly recommend the Grand Concourse!"

  • "I have moved out of Pittsburgh, but returned for a few days and brought committee members to Grand Concourse. Many had very specific dietary needs, and sometimes have difficulty finding what they need in a menu. They loved this place.. great food, wonderful choices, lovely setting etc."

  • "The food was really good. It was not too crowded on a Thursday. We asked to sit in the "grand dinning room", but even on a Thursday it was closed for a private party. We were given a table with a view of the river. It was very nice. We checked out the grand dinning room when we left."

  • "When making my reservation, I stated it was my granddaughter's sixteenth birthday, and would appreciate a good table. When I arrived, the main dining room was booked for a party, and we were seated in another room by the river. I was very disappointed with the seating, and would not have booked a reservation with Grand Concourse had I known we would not be seated in the main dining area."
