A word from Grand Central Oyster Bar Brooklyn
Grand Central Oyster Bar Brooklyn specializes in oysters and the freshest seafood. On any given day you find a minimum of 16 varieties of oysters. Our menu changes daily, depending on what the freshest market catches are. We make one of the best NE Clam Chowders and created the "Pan Roast." Lobster rolls, crab cakes and fresh fish entrees, as well as Po Boys and fish sandwiches are just a few items you will find daily.

We also have a seafood market, where you can purchase fresh lobsters, oysters, clams and fish, as well as prepared shrimp and old school classics, such as clams oreganta and seafood salad. In addition, we carry our own smoked salmon.

Diner Reviews
  • "Plenty of space. Nice bar. Solid food. Servers are pleasant. Overall service could be better."

  • "This place is a disaster. Chose GCOBB because I needed a place in Brooklyn that took reservations. A really simple meal (oysters, 2 soups and a salad and 4 mains) took over 2 hours. I normally wouldn't comment on the pace of the meal, but the place was absolutely dead--on a Saturday night--and had a cadre of servers, bussers, food runners. Wine took 25 minutes to arrive. Our server hummed audibly throughout the meal and was reluctant to recite the blackboard specials we saw posted on the way in, mentioning they were printed on the menu--but the two didn't match. Oysters were fine, fried seafood was mealy and dry (way too much cornmeal). Soups and salads were merely ok. This is not going to cut it at the price point in this neighborhood."

  • "After years of being a devotee of the original GCOB we thought ...let's give this neighborhood version a try....well, other than the oysters which were quite fresh and met our expectations, the food was disgraceful!!!! My husband started with the oyster stew, essentially a tepid bowl of milk(?) with four oysters fighting for their life! He had the grilled sardines over greens next and really, if one can ruin a fresh sardine, this chef was an expert! I had the tuna tartare, a pile of bits and pieces of tuna with no flavor, binder or resemblance to tartare whatsoever! The chef needs a refresher course in cooking!!!!!"

  • "The decor in this new place is nice and the service pretty good but the food was just so-so."

  • "Food quality is not good. Small portions, cold risotto served with hot scallops and the desserts are awful. I would not recommend this place"

  • "Really really great place. Took my fiancé here for birthday dinner to get away from our little one for a few hours and we truely hand an enjoyable dinner. We will be back"

  • "This is a comfortable, spacious restaurant where you can talk and are not rushed. The food is very good and there is something for everyone. My guests really enjoyed the meal and are planning to return. Swordfish is delicious."

  • "We visit this restaurant regularly and the food is consistently good. I especially look forward to their delicious weekly specials, it never gets boring. The wine on tap is quite good and the service has greatly improved over time. I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves seafood!"

  • "Conveniently located, the tables are well-spaced and the ceiling high. No sitting on strangers laps here. Even the designated bar area is spacious and airy. The service is excellent, knowledgeable, and unobtrusive. The oysters were divine, and the assortment is mind-boggling. Seeing an order of the lobster roll drove me nearly wild, though I wasn't able to partake. Can hardly wait for another special occasion to call for another Park Slope splurge."

  • "I am a huge seafood fan, but I've never had such bland under seasoned fish before, which was served on a bed of completely undercooked rice. My friends had scallops that were totally undercooked. They barely had a sear on them, and the hubby was served the saddest crawfish boil ive ever seen. I wouldnt recommend this restaurant to anyone. "

  • "The Oyster Bar is a large, cavernous space furnished with 70s style high-end molded plastic chairs and tables, which give it an austere, generic feel. We sat at the bar on a rainy Friday night, in front of a huge flat-screen TV. (Why such a large TV?) If you can get past the somewhat weird feel of the place, the seafood is terrific, very fresh, the same high quality as the original Grand Central Oyster Bar. Don't order the cherry stone clams, though, which are way too big to be eaten raw. Fried oysters, crab cakes, raw oysters, etc. were delicious. We sent the undercooked fries back to be crisped up. "

  • "Excellent shellfish and good-quality entrees. Very friendly and efficient staff. Decor is a bit austere. It would be better suited to a seaside restaurant. "

  • "We've been here many times & we will continue to return. The food and service are consistently better each time. The specials are interesting and delicious & they have a great selection of wines."

  • "We enjoyed our dinner here. The room is spacious, the food delicious without being gussied up, and the wait staff was very helpful and friendly. I am already planning a return visit to the restaurant."

  • "While I'm a big fan of the original Oyster Bar, it is nice not to have to go to Manhattan and fight tourists for a table. I was there with my husband on a rainy Tuesday so business was slow that night, but we'd certainly go back with a group. We were taken care of very well, and our waiter was very knowledgeable when it came to oysters. He picked out an amazing selection of 12 for us."

  • "The food was absolutely wonderful as expected. Service had some minor timing wrinkleswhich I expect will be ironed out in time as the staff works up a rhythm. Not quite as crowded or noisy as expected on an early Saturday evening, and I was happy about that."

  • "One member of our party ordered lobster and had to ask 3 times before any drawn butter was brought to the table. No bread was EVER brought to the table, nor was any ever offered. For my glass of wine, I eventually left the table and walked to the bar and asked for the glass of wine I had ordered. The bartender poured it right away but I believe it would never have arrived had I not taken this action. The food was fine but the service was so poor that I am very unlikely to return. "

  • ".... But the food is prepared beautifully, reasonably priced, seafood is extremely fresh. I think the counter/kitchen seating area is even more fun than the very roomy dining room. The manager is a must meet! Don't miss this place for a perfectly prepared meal in a relaxed welcoming environment! Definitely check out the oyster list!"

  • "We were expecting something a little more energetic and fabulous considering the legacy of the restaurant. It was totally "fine" ...nothing fabulous or exciting but not at all terrible. Crab cakes were a bit dry. Salmon was a bit buttery. Again totally fine but not fab. There needs to be more attention paid to the ambiance - there are big walls that need art or something. Had to ask for lemon for my water three times. No big deal but the place wasn't crowded at all."

  • "Our second visit to NY and this fab restaurant. Hit the spot again. Fab food, great atmosphere and brill service. Would recommend to all seeking a top place to visit esp those who like seafood. We will def go back on our next visit."

  • "Quiet, nearly empty at 7:30 on a Sunday night. Could easily accommodate our large group. Server was a bit spacy at first, but eventually became appropriately attentive. Food seemed solid, for what it was."

  • "The oysters were fantastic. they have grilled oysters with chipotle butter that was divine. the other food is just about ok."

  • "Don't expect the food and service like it's big brother at Grand Central Stn. A smaller menu and very different environment. The service was horrible (had read that before going but still hoped for GCS clone) and the staff knew it...apologized the whole meal. Food didn't arrive, had to ask repeatedly for requested items and food was cold in some cases. Busboy seemed to be the only person on top of things. I will return to Big Brother but won't go to Brooklyn resto anytime soon. Big disappointment."

  • "My wife and I went at 5:30 on a Friday with another couple before a concert. When we arrived the place was maybe 1/4 full and when we left at 7, the bar and barroom were completely full and the main dining room was 3/4 full. The maître d was pleasant and our server was very helpful and attentive. The menu was relatively simple with specials highlighted and a nice wine list. The seafood was all very fresh and prepared perfectly. My only complaint was that the pastry in the blackberry Napoleon, which is supposed to be light and flakey, was hard and tasted kind of carmelized."

  • "My boyfriend and I went here for V-day. Our reservation was for 9:00, and we finally got our table at 9:45. We wanted to try the lobster, but they were out by the time we were seated. We did the $35 raw bar mixer, the Salmon appetizer, and split the Clam Linguini. We decided we were not a fan of raw oysters, but it you like them, they were pretty fancy! Despite splitting the entree, we were both pretty satisfied- and we even took half of the salmon home with us. For under $100, it was a nice splurge. The only thing we didn't like was the weird plastic swivel dining table and chairs. Not a very romantic setup. But we were satisfied over all, it was great for a V-day dinner for a couple of seafood lovers."

  • "Restaurant over whelmed by valentines day crowd and food and service suffered. Would consider returning on less busy day for oyster happy hour but don't think I will return for dinner."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "An hour wait for appetizer oysters, another hour for dinner. Rice was cold, lobster was rubbery, and the bus boy carried away our half-full bottle without pouring it out. Another 30-minute wait for dessert and check. I was tempted to walk out and get a sandwich across the street. I should have. I ended up missing half the show I was going to."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "Food is quite good. On Valentine's day the kitchen was pretty slow. Our fish came out lukewarm although the risotto was hot. The oysters were excellent as were the biscuits. the dessert was also well prepared."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "The service was abysmal. After taking our order and pouring the wine our waitress, even though she passed our table many times, completely forgot about us. We waited about a half hour for our oysters to be served. I had to ask about bread and when the very giood biscuits were brought to the table there was no butter with them (3 biscuits for 2 people. The fried oysters were the smallest oysters I have ever seen and were overcooked and tepid. The cole slaw was bland and the tartar sauce the same. We will never return. They didn't charge us for one dish but that didn't make up for the disappointment in a restaurant that was supposed to be a Brooklyn clone of the Grand Central Oyster House in Manhattan of which we are very fond."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "Although the menu was more limited than the Oyster Bar in Grand Central Terminal, we tried a broad selection of dishes, and each was tasty. Nice selection of oysters, very fresh. Our server was attentive and friendly, even volunteering an extra basket of biscuits (delicious, by the way) when the rest of our party arrived. Our only caveat was that the decor is all hard-surfaced and rather plain, making the place quite noisy - not the best for conversation among a table of friends."

  • "Attentive staff and good food. Branzino was outstanding, lobster roll a little cold. Cheese cake great, tiramisu and chocolate mousse ok. Oysters amazing."

  • "Very disappointing. Food only fair. Menu very limited. Wait staff nice but unprofessional. The restaurant tries to be picnic-like, not a wonderful place to eat and socialize."
