Diner Reviews
  • "Very fun atmosphere and excellent food. Service was great!"

  • "We had a group of 7 which I realize can sometimes be cumbersome but we really enjoyed our dining experience. The food was fantastic and same for the drinks! The kitchen was extremely gracious as they prepared their menu items gluten free for me and they tasted wonderful! Love the ambiance and all the brick work in the restaurant. The Manager greeted us at the door which was a nice start, however our waitress does not seem happy with her job and continuously made mistakes, without apology and had zero personality. Either she was having a bad day or is in the wrong career!"

  • "Phenomenal as usual. Great bloody mary's and service was ON POINT! :)"

  • "I was looking for a restaurant to accommodate myself and five friends on a Friday night, preferably one with a wide range of menu options and reasonable prices. Granary Tavern turned out to be the perfect fit! The staff was helpful and accommodating, the food was fresh and delicious (and locally sourced!), and the restaurant had a trendy industrial feel. Of course it also has a great location by the harbor, so I'd love to go and eat on the patio in the summer. Finally, for dessert fans, it has some of the best crème brûlée I've ever had!"

  • "My boyfriend and I ate here after a day of exploring the city. We had very good service and food and would definitely return for more pulled pork flatbread!"

  • "Great location near the waterfront, just a short stroll from the old Custom House in Boston. Brick and wide wooden beams give it an old-time ambiance. We enjoyed the background music streaming from Pandora radio, tending toward the blues. The food menu is not extensive but has enough choices to please almost anyone. The drink menu has a lot of good choices of beer on tap. I enjoyed the steak frites entree very much. The French fries were the best I have had in a long time. My dining partner had a swordfish entree which was flavorful. We shared a delicious creme brulee. We found our waiter very attentive and congenial. We would definitely go back the next time we are in that part of Boston."

  • "Good place for a Friday lunch. We got a table overlooking the Greenway - Nice sunny day, Food is good but way too much dressing on the beet salad and it is too vinegary. A lighter, sweeter dressing would be perfect."

  • "As I sat at Granary on a very vibrant Monday night (a wait for a table at 8 p.m. It was packed0 I wondered why I don't eat there more often. The food was fantastic.! I usually just have drinks and apps and Monday was no exception. The chips with garlic and dip are the best homemade chips around. We always order the margarita flatbread and it is always the freshest. Tasted like the dough was made minutes before. At the waitress suggestion we tried something new to us which was the chicken fried chicken. I'm not a fan of chicken tenders but these were juicy thick pieces of the best tasting chicken ever. Nice sweet sauce with a little bit of a kick to it. All around wonderful and I look forward to going back again."

  • "A very nice neighborhood restaurant. Interesting drinks and menu selection"

  • "Was slightly disappointed in this restaurant. We were sat in the bar area, which is fine except it was one of those bitterly cold nights in January and we were at the table closest to the door. We had our jackets on the whole time. The food was pretty good, but nothing I would be dying to go back for. The one thing about this place that I found attractive was the bar scene, it looked to have a good mix of people and I would definitely be interested in going back for the social aspect."

  • "I took a date there Friday night and we both loved it. I have been a few times before, but had never tried the lamb burger, so I decided to try it. It was absolutely delicious and I highly recommend it. The highlight of my night was the Narragansett Coffee Milk Stout. I grew up in RI, and Narragansett mixed with Autocrat coffee made me feel like I was back at home."

  • "Sounds weird, right? Eating in a basement? The bottom floor of this restaurant is SO COOL! Old brick and exposed beams, great mood lighting, lots of space between tables. There was a birthday party going on in the basement bar, which was roped off to outsiders, but not at all invasive to our quiet dinner. Great service, waitress was very knowledgeable of menu. Food was okay, my friend really enjoyed her chicken and waffle. However, the farmer's market salad was awful. My fault for ordering healthy and out of season, as there was only lettuce and radishes for veggies. Another friend was disappointed with the short rib, which was the smallest portion of the night, and not at all what a short rib typically looks like (more like a steak)."

  • "Went for my birthday with a group during a blizzard. Staff was great, service was surprisingly quick and good. Our table was joined by a special guest off the streets of Boston and the staff handled the situation very well. We were pleaseentky surprised to know that the management had taken our desserts of the bill as well. Not exactly necessary but still appreciated. Had a good time and even though the reservation noted it was my birthday I'm happy to report there was no group of singing staff. I was pleasantly surprised with how easy and good the evening was. Good time good food good people great service."

  • "Came here for Valentines Day and had a wonderful experience. We had a nice private spot in a booth and didn't feel overwhelmed by the crowd of people. There was a great playlist of music just loud enough to enjoy but not so loud that we couldn't hear each other talk. The waitress was very nice and prompt, food and drinks came in perfect order, we did not feel rushed nor did we feel like we had to wait a long time. The food was amazing; we had the calamari, chicken and waffles and margherita pizza. The wine selection was great and the mixed drinks were fancy but not overly expensive. Loved the wood paneling and lighting in the restaurant. Had a pubby feel but fancier for special occasions. Would absolutely come back again!"

  • "We had a reservation and were seated promptly, but it took about 15 minutes until our waiter took our drink order. Since this took so long, we decided what we wanted to order so we could get it in when he returned with our drinks. The waiter did not give us the opportunity to even place an order and it was then another 10 minutes before he returned! Very frustrating service experience to the point we almost requested another waiter. When it came, the food was very good, but service need to vastly improve as food just as good at other local establishments. The other downfall is we were seated by the door which should probably have a curtain in the winter as all the cold air was coming in directly toward our table."

  • "Excellent food, great location. The service was also very good. Our only complaint is that it was a little noisy (although it was happy hour on a friday so that is to be expected. Overall, I would recommend it highly."

  • "The food was quite tasty with plenty of variety, but the portions were on the small side for the price."

  • "Went for Sunday brunch. Service was pretty slow, but server was nice. However, the seafood chowder & oyster po-boys made up for everything. Seafood chowder sounded good, so we got two and the flavors of butter, cream, smoked haddock and bacon melded together incredibly well. There was probably no way the oyster po-boy could have matched the chowder, but it was fantastic too! Chicken salad sandwich & beet salad did not disappoint our wives either. Would definitely come back to Granary Tavern."

  • "I mean it. There's not a better wedge salad in the entire USA. The atmosphere and service is great, too, but go for the wedge salad. You won't be disappointed."

  • "Met a small group for lunch there and found it was the perfect place. Had never been here before. Found it very centrally located. The service was impeccable. Friendly but still professional. Very clean and had a very energetic atmosphere. The food was outstanding. Dishes we had were absolutely delicious and prepared with the freshest ingredients. Loved the chicken salad with avocado. Would definitely go back again."

  • "We had our year end dinner with the company and they were very accomodating and friendly. The food was great other than not having one of the appetizers, which was a little disappointing. I would definite recommend to friends and co-workers."

  • "I love Granary Tavern, it's a great place for lunch, dinner, low key drink with a friend or a large group - very versatile. The menu is unique and affordable. They have one of my all time favorite beers on tap; Kentucky Burbon Barrel beer, if you haven't tried it - it's a must."

  • "Good Sunday brunch spot... not too crowded and food was better than average. We liked the oyster omelette and the three egg omelette. We also liked this spot for Sunday brunch because, in a Boston scene that is becoming increasingly hard to find a spot without an hour wait, this spot shines."

  • "We had a great dinner. We have been many times and keep coming back for the great beer! Unfortunately the buildings roof caved in due to the snow and melted down into the restaurant. The Granary was able to keep us dry although as they were cleaning the water the door was open keeping it rather cold inside. When the water damage shut down all the computers delaying everyone's departure, we were given comped drinks and manual receipts. I enjoy this restaurant and will be back again regardless of a one off experience."

  • "I chose this restaurant because of the good reviews and was pleasantly surprised when I ordered the lobster roll and it was absolutely delicious, including the homemade chips that came with it! I also had a great wedge salad which was incredible and my boyfriend had the fish and chips which he loved!"

  • "hoped for a real pub food experience but the food was very lackluster. No specials. Bar snacks were ok Kids meals were a good value Flat breads were disappointing burgers were small chowder was good decent beer selection Nice atmosphere - a "safe" choice with kids not far from the aquarium but not a culinary force."

  • "We had a early lunch and all enjoyed the brunch and lunch options! We lingered for a bit and did not fell like we were being pushed out the door. Great service!"

  • "With all its windows and a perfect view of the greenway, this place is a excellent venue to grab a quick meal and go. Service was excellent and the food, although a bit skimpy in portions, was very nice. A limited bistro type menu is complemented by a quality standard in preparation. The chowder was was the highlight of our meals with a nice thick base and large seafood chunks."

  • "first time at here and it was great. made reservations to be safe but was no need. Not very packed which was surprising as the food was great! It's a bit outside the tourist spot of so could be the reason why not a lot of people went. The server was prompt and attentive and the food came out quick!"

  • "My wife and I were in town for an event and hadn't picked a place to eat. Found Granary was right next door and they had reservations open. The craft beer selection on rotation that night was great and went perfect with the salmon entree. Service and ambience were great too on this brief little date without the kids. One con, but not deal breaker: we asked for munchies as we waited for our entrees and got some nicely seasoned salty-sweet popcorn - it was good but worth $4? Not really. Guess I'm partial to the Halfway Cafe that has popcorn for free. Overall, great place and good food. I'd go back."

  • "We had a reservation for 4:30 on a Wednesday for a party of 4. Our event let out two hours early and Granary Tavern easily accommodated us at 3. The waitress was helpful when asked but otherwise a little cold. The place was pretty dead between the lunch and dinner. The menu was a little short but the steak frites and chicken and waffles were terrific."

  • "I really enjoy going to Granary - the food is great and the atmosphere is awesome. It is really open so it can get noisy - so be prepared! I have had nothing but great experiences there."

  • "The people I was with had fish and chips and said the fish was good but the chips were not. I had a flat bread with pulled pork on, I couldn't find much pork, the bread was nice but had been completely smothered in barbecue sauce. Our waitress was having an off day, she managed to bring my friend the wrong drink and the wrong dinner - I heard him order so I know it was her mistake. She did take the price of our starter off the bill ( incidentally they were devilled eggs and they were very good!). It's a very convenient location, the food is acceptable and a good for children as it is a big place with a nice relaxed atmosphere. As I am passed the children stage and am all about the food and service I won't be going back."
