Diner Reviews
  • "Every aspect of our 3.5-hour evening was thoroughly enjoyable. The special touches from our server and the kitchen made us feel regal. We particularly loved selecting our own 3-ounce wine pairings for our seasonal tasting menus. The table next to us, who had apparently stopped at the cocktail page of the drink menu, was envious. We will certainly return!"

  • "over excellent spot for a small business meeting. The restaurant was quiet enough, and service was excellent."

  • "Gramercy Tavern continues to offer one of the best lunch settings and menus in the city. Friendly, attentive service with a farm to table menu. Memorable flower arrangements. Dessert menu is a bit too deconstructionist for my taste. Prefer traditional dessert sizes with a bit of a twist. Always make a stop here when visiting NYC."

  • "We had a fabulous dining experience. From the minute we entered we were cordially greeted. The ambiance of the entire place is wonderful. We had the seasonal tasting menu which was absolutely wonderful. The knowledgable staff made the experience all the more worthwhile."

  • "The latest visit to Gramercy Tavern must've been my fifth or sixth time and every time I enjoyed the Seasonal Tasting Menu. If I remember correctly, they had wine pairing at a fixed additional cost before, but they no longer had it. What a disappointment. Other than that, everything was good as usual."

  • "Clearly a winner with the NYC foodie crowd. Food was excellent and three course menu hit the spot. Wait staff was brilliantly trained and talented with their knowledge of the menu and how to best present it to the customer. Great location for a celebration. Wine list extensive."

  • "I took my dad to Gramercy Tavern for Father's Day. We had heard great things about the restaurant from friends, but it exceeded every expectation! From the amazing "Hop to It" cocktail, to the delicious fish entrees we ordered, to the double desserts, Gramercy Tavern was excellent. We had an exceptional server as well, who made the experience even more enjoyable. I would recommend Gramercy Tavern to anyone traveling to NYC!"

  • "Gramercy is a nice high-end restaurant. There are some other great options at this price point, but I would definitely return. The restaurant is similar in style to Gotham, but overall the service at Gramercy was a little better, especially from the assistants and bus boys ... our main server was ok but his helpers were all outstanding. We were given a complimentary desert at the end of the evening, which was very much appreciated."

  • "This was our second visit after several years of pleasant memories of our first and we were celebrating my wife's 60th birthday. The food was uniformly excellent and my wife would call out in particular the mushroom custard appetizer. And my daughter raced through her pork entree to avoid the rest of the party's flying forks (if you know what I mean!) But what makes Gramercy Park so special and memorable is the quality of the gracious and welcoming service at every step, including the telephone reservation process. There was a sense of genuine warmth and an interest in putting us at ease including a personalized birthday cupcake for my wife. Thanks again to Gramercy Tavern and I hope your experience is as good as ours."

  • "I love this restaurant and if it were humanly possible I'd eat there every day of the week. Danny Meyers runs the most efficient, most pleasnt, most beautiful, most delicious food in this city. From the moment one enters until they leave they are treated with the kindest, most thoughtful service. No one is ever rushed through their meal, which is always delicious. Thanks for always giving me a great experience. Honey Seltzer"

  • "If one word could sum up our dining experience - Wonderful would be the word to use. The food was delicious, the service impeccable and the atmosphere was sophisticated. The Gramercy Dining Room definitely lives up to its reputation of high standards. Can't wait to return."

  • "Very very delicious food prepared with delicacy and unusual notes. The smoked trout melts in your mouth and I highly recommend the lamb. The desserts were excellent. We will definitely go back. Note that the portion are small; more suited for ladies in my opinion. The service is very attentive but they did not rush us. The drinks are also very good and not watered down as in many establishments. This is also prix fixe only, which starts at $92/pp. So if your girlfriend only eats salads, this is not your spot."

  • "This was a top-notch experience from beginning to end. We arrived 10 min early and were shown to two seats at the bar while we waited for our table. Bartender offered to split a cocktail for us, the perfect solution to not wanting a full drink each. Once shown to our table (exactly on time) we both ordered the seasonal Prix Fixe menu (seven courses), and the waiter recommended pairing the meal with two splits - a Montrechet to start, and a Chateauneuf du Pape for the second half - both were lovely. Each course was well-executed presented nicely. We've also eaten in the tavern area (walk-in only, different menu) and had a nice experience there as well. Very gracious staff, NOT SNOOTY at all. Definitely coming back."

  • "Four of us. Had a lovely time. Food was just fine. My ribeye was chewy. Fish dishes were the best on the table. The $92 fixe is for the service, which is simply amazing. If that's what you're into. I would rather have incredible food. Suggestion: Go for lunch."

  • "Gramercy is a popular restaurant which tries to be Eauropean. Not a success. Our Fash ragu (the special of the day) was cold, the grilled fish was so small that we thought it was a starter (had to order pasta on the side) the tast was bland. If you want Eauropean style - go to Balthzar instead. PS - But our wine Ridge Monte Bello 2010 was superb."

  • "We were here for the lunch tasting menu- delicious food. It was light and flavorful and delight to the senses. Also a nice touch- as it was our anniversary they provided complimentary champagne and a dessert. Very thoughtful."

  • "Pros: Smoked trout and Kale salad were good. Desserts were excellent (Strawberry and Rhubarb). Cons: second course dishes were awful. We had Red Snapper (over salted, potato's under cooked) and Roasted Lamb. Basically, they were not up to Micheline star level. Service: it was OK. It was interesting to see the waitresses to do a wine tasting. ))) Where was a supervisor?"

  • "Gramercy Tavern was so good that we returned for lunch the next day. Our first meal was in hype quieter area that required a reservation. All the food was wonderful! Our 2nd lunch was in their tavern area where we ate FANTASTIC burgers. Both trips were superb."

  • "We recently went to Gramercy Tavern to celebrate my daughter's high school graduation. I made no mention of the occasion during reservations. But during the confirmation call I mentioned we might be late as we were heading down from the graduation in Washington Hts. The entire dinner was impeccable. Our server charming and intelligent, he managed to make each of my guests feel special and well cared for. During dessert my daughter was presented with a lovely little congratulations cake - a complete surprise! That's exactly why Grammercy Tavern remains at the top of our list and the favorite of daughter since she was a little girl. To this day she remembers how as an 8 yr. old she was given a pashmina shawl to wear when she was cold."

  • "We have been dining at Gramercy Tavern both in the bar area and in the dining room for the last seven years and every experience has been wonderful. And this time was no exception. We went for my brother-in-law's 50th birthday and had the non-vegetarian degustation menu. Nothing was a problem for our EXCELLENT servers, Marcello and Toni. They were friendly and courteous and very professional. Our favorite dish that night was the Arctic char. Thanks again, Gramercy Tavern!"

  • "It is worth the hype! All foods were cooked to perfection. They do provide bonus foods that are not included on the menu. Excellent food and service. I loved it! I don't understand the decor theme. I saw lots of pictures of vegetables, and then a random star. That could be updated, but everything else was great."

  • "That pretty much says it all. Absolutely wonderful meal. Great service. Loved how the waitstaff are so well-informed without being stuffy at all. Can't wait for an opportunity to go back."

  • "Our visit to Grammercy Tavern couldn't have been any better. In the dining room. The appetizer of smoked trout was amazing, perfectly plated and very tasty, as was my fiances pork spaghetti. Mains were the perfect follow up with one of us having the lamb, and the other chicken. These dishes could not have been cooked any better. Service was efficient but not over the top which is perfect. The overall atmosphere and fitout was very fitting for such a wonderful space. It is something at a level we have not seen so much in NY. Dessert was a perfect finish to the evening. Highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "This was our fourth visit to Gramercy Tavern and it will continue to be a tradition when we are in New York City. Everything you want to find in a fine dining experience. The staff is wonderful. Our primary server was Toni - Bravo! The reservatons people were efficient and asked all the important questions to determine how best to serve us. Good attention to dietary needs and such excellent food. Compliments to the Chef. It deserves five stars."

  • "A superb experience; food, wine, dessert, and service. Hadn't visited Gramercy Tavern for 10 years as we live across country and visits to (native) NYC are infrequent. We were warmly greeted by the manager / hostess; made to feel very relaxed and unrushed by the excellent wait staff. Perfectly cooked shrimp appetizer, and fish mains (black bass and artic char). Dessert cheese selections & quality were superior . Unbelievable flavors in all courses; great wines by the glass. We splurged on repeated glasses of brut rose Champagne which was wonderful. Sure wish we could visit more often, but will make sure not to miss Gramercy Tavern when in NYC. World class food and dining experience, while at same time not stuffy and very welcoming."

  • "Have been to Gramercy three times previously and always had exquisite food and service. Unfortunately, this most recent meal was marred with absolutely appalling service. Our waiter was dismissive, disinterested and rude from the moment we were seated though the duration of the whole meal. Needless to say, it was terribly disappointing and likely means I will not return for another meal."

  • "This is one of New York's classic, fresh ingredient, creative menu restaurant. Nice location between midtown and Wall Street for travelers who want to get into the Soho-Village area. Walkable from both areas. We think it is a must dine for visitors to the city for the creative menu, fresh ingredients and service. The bar area is good for snacks or even a meal too."

  • "This was our third visit to Gramercy Tavern and, per usual, our dining experience was exquisite. The staff is gracious, personable, attentive, informed, and welcoming without hovering. The food is flawless--beautifully presented, flavors concentrated so that each bite is to be savored, aesthetically pleasing just like the décor. If I had any complaint whatsoever, it would be that the Gramercy needs to open a bakery for their chocolate crinkle cookies."
