This was my first time and I was not disappointed. The room is gorgeous. The menu is very interesting and staff are outstanding. The struck the right mix of friendly and professional. Danielle our server could not be better, and supporting staff were great. I wanted the 3 course menu as opposed the larger tasting menu, but they had a great spin on an oyster chowder (must get whenever I see it) and not only did they graciously offer, but served it complimentary. Every dish was outstanding ! The wine list was well chosen and had some of my favorite hard to find Burgundy producers, and the mark-up was very reasonable.

I'm a total foodie and have never been. Heard nothing but amazing things. I was still completely impressed and bowled over with the attention to detail, incredibly attentive service without being overbearing, and food that was accessible yet inventive. Five stars all around. My new favorite in Manhattan.

Was visiting from England and it was my birthday on the 18th so wanted a special dining experience. Choose the tasting menu and, as both my friend and I don't eat meat, the Gramercy was very willing to substitute a fish course. Food was superb; wine served at a pace that matched the courses and I even had a lovely birthday cake at the end - total surprise! A very enjoyable experience, enhanced by the excellent service we received. Would recommend highly.

What a fabulous dining experience! My husband and I did the two tasting menus (Seasonal and Vegetable) and shared each of the six courses. What a phenomenal experience! The food was beautiful and just perfect. Such a treat! Wine pairings that were recommended by our server were lovely, complex, delicious wines. And the service was so warm and welcoming and friendly, which was a bit of a surprise to me. I expected more pretention, but that couldn't have been further from the truth. What a warm, happy restaurant to go to! Such a great place to celebrate a love of food!

Food was excellent. Creative, bold, and a delight to the senses. Service was good until when we paid the bill. Maybe it is the custom here but the waitress never did return with the change. At least she should have asked if I want the change back. I usually give my tips after the change is returned so this made it really awkward and lowered the overall service level, which would otherwise be very good.

I went to Gramercy Tavern with my boyfriend on a Tuesday night. The dining room was pretty and surprisingly lively for a Tuesday. My favorite parts of our meal was the smoked trout (a large piece for an appetizer) and the chicken dish, which melted in your mouth and was one of the best chicken dishes I've had. The lamb I ordered was pretty good too, but if I went again I would probably get the chicken or try one of the fish dishes. For our dessert, we got a sample of three cheeses and a plate of cookies. Gramercy Tavern also has a very extensive wine list and the service was prompt and professional. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a romantic night out!

Having been to multiple Michelin starred restaurants around the world we had high expectations. We ordered the Autumn tasting menu and were very hungry when finished due to TINY portions, undercooked fish, and bread service only when you could find a bread server to ask for it. As a friend likes to say we have been here 3 times: first, last, and never again. This indeed was a tavern and not a fine dining restaurant.

Calming ambiance---unusual for Manhattan. Food beautifully prepared and served. No sauces and muted seasoning. Emphasis on extraordinarily high quality ingredients. Superb desserts. We ate at the informal restaurant for lunch & the more elegant restaurant for dinner. In my opinion, lunch is the way to go. I didn't want much, so I ordered the nearly raw vegetable plate with 3 sauces. The vegetables were what you would expect & the sauces weren't very interesting, so it wasn't exactly exciting. My husband had the hamburger and it was delicious. Our companions said their soup was fabulous & sandwiches were very good. For dinner, we went with 4 friends. Most ordered the beet salad. It was fine, but again not exciting with nearly no dressing. My chicken was well cooked but plain. Same for the vegetables. The bill with reasonable wines was $160 per person. Bottom line - expensive & well-prepared food, but nothing creative.

We decided to order the chef tasting menu for $120 per person. the coordination of the waiters in removing the used plates and utensils, provided with new ones for every new taste was out of this world, a theater production. I can't decide which one of the selection I liked the most, the taste and presentation of the food was impeccable. I will definitely recommend this restaurant and for sure will plan a next visit when we return to NY.

Having read Setting The Table, Grammercy Dining room was a must. 4 of us went for a 1:00 lunch. Three had the tasting menu for about 52 each. One member of our party opted for the a la cart menu. He ordered a 'beet salad' & unbeknownst 'small' shrimp dish. Oh my! were we astonished at the microscopic size especially the beet salad served in a huge rim of a bowl. He was laughed & teased at for days, for ex: hey! Need this empty CoffeeMate creamer for a 'to go' container? thanks for the laughs anyway Danny. 'tasting' menu was delicious! they too were a bit skimpy. Ex: 3 little round slices of cucumber, One little scallop, a single rolled paper thin slice of cucumber & 10 tiny slivers of a green veg. Tavern side next time! They said

Gramercy Tavern has evolved into an American classic, with an attractive, warm and inviting ambience, professional, caring service and excellent food. This is only the second time I've had lunch here and the lunch is as good as the dinners. The lunch tasting menu is perfectly proportioned with servings that are small but sufficient. We started with a subtle turnip dish followed by a perfect, luscious seared scallop, an Asian style halibut in a ginger scented broth and small slices of tender savory duck breast. We had a choice of cheese or dessert, my friend chose the confection and I selected 3 cheeses. There were no condiments served with them, though they were good on their own. Wine recommendations were spot on. Always a pleasure!

I've dined at GT more than 75 times over the past 15 years. We went for a special occasion birthday -- like we have for this occasion for more than 10 straight years. It took 20 minutes go get served a glass of water, 20 more to get a glass of the wine we brought served to u. Fortunately I was more than capable of refilling our glasses. I pulled the server aside and explained because we had kids with us -- 7pm reservation, now 745pm -- we wanted to pick up the pace because one had an athletic event early in the morning. Service didn't improve. We got out of the restaurant at 1020pm. First time ever at GT that I've had bad service. Sad -- it wasn't one person, it was prevalent throughout the staff. #NEVERAGAIN

This storied restaurant is showing signs of a meltdown. The service was atrocious when I had lunch here with a friend. The food, while tasty, was not the experience it once was. I was craving a hamburger afterwards. For what they are charging for a meal here, this is more of a tourist trap trying to live off its past.
