Diner Reviews
  • "The place is the greatest New York has to offer, great service, laid back, excellent food, great choice of wines to choose from. You will be lucky if you have Steve looking after you. He made our dinner very special."

  • "For special occasions with special people. We celebrate birthdays, anniversaries and any other special occasions here."

  • "We celebrated our Anniversary here and it was...AMAZING. They started us off with a little bit of sparkling wine just to congratulate us and then the beautiful food and flawless service that they're known for helped us have a perfect anniversary dinner. We ordered the seasonal prix fixe as usual. We've come to Gramercy for every season just to taste all the different menus and this summer menu was really fresh and delicious. They noted that I'm allergic to chocolate and alcohol and really worked around my food allergies. At the end of our meal, we were given a beautiful little coconut and meringue cake for our anniversary. My boyfriend loved it and kept saying how much it reminded him of a mexican wedding cake and home. love."

  • "My fiance and I shared the 6 course tasting of protein and veggies which was very good we both full before dessert arrived. The service was better than the food with the wait staff attentive and on top of everything throughout our meal."

  • "Another wonderful experience at what's become a steady favorite over the years. Thanks for keeping the attention to detail in all that you do!"

  • "We went for a Friday late lunch and had the tasting. The lobster, with the egg salad, and pickled haricot verts is an incredible dish. The flower display with veggies incorporated sets a beautiful ambiance. One of the best dining experiences in NYC, even at the bar."

  • "I am never dissappointed by Gramercy Tavern! It is amazing how the combinations of food and flavor can be married in such a way that a whole new taste experience can occur. Dining here enables you to wake up your palette and really embrace the fresh flavors of the season. Definitely a foodie spot. Anytime I'm in the city I have to eat here!!"

  • "This is a restaurant that knows how to make the customers feel like old friends. The service was very friendly, extremely professional and efficient. We had a show to attend and they made sure we were able to enjoy our 3 course meal but make our show (and they seemed to genuinely care!) we were even given a muffin for after the show! The food was even more amazing. The recommended trout appetizer and lamb loins were exceptional. The cookie tray was delicious and plentiful. The kale salad was good (although I had better) and the pork loin was cooked to perfection. A truly great meal recommended by a New Yorker who said it was the place he always takes guests. Beautiful room and very elegant setting. A real treat!"

  • "The food, service, and ambiance were wonderful!! A top dining experience!! They easily and wonderfully accommodated one of my guests who had a special diet due to medical reason -- gluten free, dairy free, and vegetarian. I can't wait to go there again ..."

  • "All the food we had was very good. Great job kitchen. Our server was ok, but nobody seemed to care we were there. There was a follow up server( a small young girl) who was extremely unfriendly and when we asked for a cocktail in a specific glass she copped and attitude like we were hillbillies. We spent way too much $ to be treated that way. Better we eat at Starbucks, at least they say hello and thank you. LE Bernardin,Peasent,Del Posto...much ,much better for the$."

  • "Every aspect of our 3.5-hour evening was thoroughly enjoyable. The special touches from our server and the kitchen made us feel regal. We particularly loved selecting our own 3-ounce wine pairings for our seasonal tasting menus. The table next to us, who had apparently stopped at the cocktail page of the drink menu, was envious. We will certainly return!"

  • "I'd heard of this world-renowned institution for decades, I've never before been in the neighborhood at meal time. When the opportunity arose, I made a reservation for the dining room (the grill does not accept them). Everything was excellent. I've never had better service - anywhere. This is one of the most professionally-staffed establishments which I've ever visited. I was a bit put off when a confirmation call came to me a couple of days before the reservation; "proper attire is business casual," I was told. Most New Yorkers think that the rest of the planet is populated with hayseeds and hillbillies, but "business casual," itself, is an oxymoron. I nearly cancelled on the spot, but I'm glad I didn't. Fabulous service; excellent food."

  • "Gramercy Tavern never fails to live up to my high expectations. From the minute you're greeted by the hostess to the yummy muffin at the end of the meal, everything is delicious and service is warm, welcoming and seamless; every year the food and service remains at the highest standards. After all these years, Gramercy remains a very special restaurant."

  • "over excellent spot for a small business meeting. The restaurant was quiet enough, and service was excellent."

  • "Gramercy Tavern continues to offer one of the best lunch settings and menus in the city. Friendly, attentive service with a farm to table menu. Memorable flower arrangements. Dessert menu is a bit too deconstructionist for my taste. Prefer traditional dessert sizes with a bit of a twist. Always make a stop here when visiting NYC."

  • "We had a fabulous dining experience. From the minute we entered we were cordially greeted. The ambiance of the entire place is wonderful. We had the seasonal tasting menu which was absolutely wonderful. The knowledgable staff made the experience all the more worthwhile."

  • "The latest visit to Gramercy Tavern must've been my fifth or sixth time and every time I enjoyed the Seasonal Tasting Menu. If I remember correctly, they had wine pairing at a fixed additional cost before, but they no longer had it. What a disappointment. Other than that, everything was good as usual."

  • "Clearly a winner with the NYC foodie crowd. Food was excellent and three course menu hit the spot. Wait staff was brilliantly trained and talented with their knowledge of the menu and how to best present it to the customer. Great location for a celebration. Wine list extensive."

  • "This was our second visit after several years of pleasant memories of our first and we were celebrating my wife's 60th birthday. The food was uniformly excellent and my wife would call out in particular the mushroom custard appetizer. And my daughter raced through her pork entree to avoid the rest of the party's flying forks (if you know what I mean!) But what makes Gramercy Park so special and memorable is the quality of the gracious and welcoming service at every step, including the telephone reservation process. There was a sense of genuine warmth and an interest in putting us at ease including a personalized birthday cupcake for my wife. Thanks again to Gramercy Tavern and I hope your experience is as good as ours."

  • "Very very delicious food prepared with delicacy and unusual notes. The smoked trout melts in your mouth and I highly recommend the lamb. The desserts were excellent. We will definitely go back. Note that the portion are small; more suited for ladies in my opinion. The service is very attentive but they did not rush us. The drinks are also very good and not watered down as in many establishments. This is also prix fixe only, which starts at $92/pp. So if your girlfriend only eats salads, this is not your spot."

  • "We had a fabulous experience at Gramercy Tavern! Went for my son's 22nd birthday- had a great table, and the staff was phenomenal- impeccable service but warm and friendly at the same time. The food was excellent but expensive.... worth it for a special occasion. Excellent wine and beer- wonderful dessert. Beautiful setting too. Next time we will try the tavern side instead of the restaurant just to check it out."

  • "If one word could sum up our dining experience - Wonderful would be the word to use. The food was delicious, the service impeccable and the atmosphere was sophisticated. The Gramercy Dining Room definitely lives up to its reputation of high standards. Can't wait to return."

  • "I love this restaurant and if it were humanly possible I'd eat there every day of the week. Danny Meyers runs the most efficient, most pleasnt, most beautiful, most delicious food in this city. From the moment one enters until they leave they are treated with the kindest, most thoughtful service. No one is ever rushed through their meal, which is always delicious. Thanks for always giving me a great experience. Honey Seltzer"

  • "This was a top-notch experience from beginning to end. We arrived 10 min early and were shown to two seats at the bar while we waited for our table. Bartender offered to split a cocktail for us, the perfect solution to not wanting a full drink each. Once shown to our table (exactly on time) we both ordered the seasonal Prix Fixe menu (seven courses), and the waiter recommended pairing the meal with two splits - a Montrechet to start, and a Chateauneuf du Pape for the second half - both were lovely. Each course was well-executed presented nicely. We've also eaten in the tavern area (walk-in only, different menu) and had a nice experience there as well. Very gracious staff, NOT SNOOTY at all. Definitely coming back."

  • "Gramercy is a popular restaurant which tries to be Eauropean. Not a success. Our Fash ragu (the special of the day) was cold, the grilled fish was so small that we thought it was a starter (had to order pasta on the side) the tast was bland. If you want Eauropean style - go to Balthzar instead. PS - But our wine Ridge Monte Bello 2010 was superb."

  • "We were here for the lunch tasting menu- delicious food. It was light and flavorful and delight to the senses. Also a nice touch- as it was our anniversary they provided complimentary champagne and a dessert. Very thoughtful."
