Diner Reviews
  • "Had a terrific dinner and desert. The best restaurant in town hands down"

  • "We arrived at MOCA on a Sunday at 11:30 AM and had a wonderful brunch before taking in the art at MOCA. Would like to try it for dinner another time."

  • "Reviews that we read on Trip Advisor were right on. Food is quite tasty. Service is not. Our waiter was well intentioned but it was clear he was overwhelmed. There were two waiters for about 20 tables. One of our table requested a bread plate. Never got it. We waited 45 minutes for our entrees. Relaxed dining is one thing, but after awhile it just get's old. I won't go back"

  • "Very nice restaurant on the grounds of Mass MOCA. We had both a lunch and dinner there during our visits to nearby Williamstown. The menu is limited but adventurous and the food is well-executed. It may be a bit too upscale (and pricey) for its location, however. The snack bar at the museum is more appealing when you're there to see the contemporary art."

  • "Excellent food and service just at the entrance to Mass MOCA. It is good to see an old mill space put to such good use."

  • "Food was really good, unfortunately can't say the same about service, our waiter probably did not have any experience!"

  • "Had only an hour but the server made sure we had both a delicous appetizer (snap pea salad with goat cheese, almonds, shaved fennel, and lemon) plus had our entrees served in time. We came back after the show to share an exquisite dessert- chocolate hazelnut torte."

  • "very good from apps through dessert, very consistent. staff was stretched but kept up well."

  • "While looking for a more reasonably priced restaurant than many in Williamstown, we found Gramercy Bistro on OpenTable. It is part of an arts community in North Adams which can be hard to find and involves a drive through some rough parts of town, but worth the trip! The food was excellent, the server friendly and helpful and a nice wine list by glass or bottle. We would definitely recommend and will go there again."

  • "Nestled in the museum of contemporary art, this is a lovely little restaurant with crisp white tablecloths & big windows. The menu included a good balance of meat, fish & an interesting veggie option. My salad with goats cheese starter was a bit disappointing - the salad leaves were uninteresting & the cheese was served as a blob on top rather than being broken up and mixed through the salad. However, the tuna & bok choi entree & the chicken entree were absolutely delicious. Service was disappointingly slow & inattentive with no follow up on how things were. All in all we would return for more delicious entrees and the appealing location & keep fingers crossed for better service next time."

  • "A favorite of ours, this restaurant is on the campus of Mass MoCa, so very convenient when visiting the museum. Lovely, relaxing and upscale atmosphere....perfect after spending time at the museum. Food is very good, portions large and everything is creatively prepared with fresh ingredients. A special treat is the peartini made with pear liquor (a very unusual find). Service is attentive. There are many restaurants in North Adams, but, we always choose to go back to Gramercy Bistro when in the area."

  • "We had a delicious meal at Gramercy Bistro in North Adams, MA. Everything was terrific -- the service, wine, food, atmosphere. Our teenage sons enjoyed it, too, and were made very welcome by the staff. One of the best restaurants in the North Adams area."

  • " coq au vin : chcken was tender. I prefer a thinner sauce, potatoes or rice, notpasta."

  • "We brought a party of six for an after-graduation dinner. This is a museum restaurant: the food and wine are high-end (e.g. small carefully-arranged plates, etc.). But while the approach to food was thoughtful, it was not imaginative -- resulting in decent, but not particularly interesting food. The entrees could definitely feature more vegetables. But the service was abysmal. Actually, it was great for the first 45 minutes. But the moment our entrees arrived, our waiter disappeared for an hour. Even though the room wasn't half full, there was no checking on us -- and no opportunity for coffee, dessert, check. Finally, some of us had to leave -- and were accosted by the waiter going out to ask if we had paid the (nonexistent) check!"

  • "it was a solid meal, we were in and out comfortably to make our concert next door. however, the waitress was quite icy and in fact simply didn't answer/engage us verbally. and my ravioli was slightly underdone. would have sent it back but i was too hungry. wine was nice, dessert delicate and tasty."

  • "Appetizers were acceptable, minestrone and saladl The steak was order medium/ And I suppose it was IF you average out the ridiculously overcooked left half of the steak with the nearly raw right side. The Coq au Vin was supposed to be cooked with white wine. Bi wine was detectable in the Coq au Vin. The chicken was boiled and had no taste whatsoever. The price of the entrees was a misleader. As was the margarita which was made buy the hostess (the young lady who seats you and is barely 18) and was about 100% tequila. More expensive usually means better food and better service. In this case, IT IS A RIP OFF."

  • "Came here before a show at Mass MOCA and had a great dinner. Our server was a pleasant and cute older woman with what sounded to be a French accent. Food was great, wine was good, and service was attentive yet not overwhelming. No espresso, but the French pressed coffee was exceptional. We will most definitely be back the next time we come through town."

  • "My wife and I recently went to Gramercy as a cap to our day at Mass MOCA. The atmosphere was quiet and romantic and the food was generally good. I had the crab cake appetizer. It was a little overwhelmed by the wasabi sauce, but otherwise a tasty start. My wife had a salad with Champaign vinaigrette followed by encrusted chicken with mushroom risotto. She enjoyed both. I had the paella as a main, and I'd give it a C. The rice was thick and over cooked and the mussels and clams were small and a bit dry. Still, the dish was flavorful. I'd go back but would stick with more basic dishes."

  • "Gramercy Bistro would be a great stand-alone restaurant in northern Berkshire County. But as part of MassMoca (Mass. Museum of Contemporary Art), it's a terrific add-on to your enjoyment of one of America's great art venues."

  • "The food was absolutely amazing at Gramercy Bistro. My table had the Ahi Tuna & the steak... it is really hard to get a perfect steak and Gramercy Bistro nailed it! The Ahi Tuna was the best I HAVE EVER had and I live in NYC, so thats saying a lot! I would love the recipe, the Ahi Tuna was encrusted with sesame seeds and a deliciious ginger/soy sauce! Unfortunately our waitress seemed to have some sort of an attitude and the air temperature was excruciatingly hot. I wish it were in the old location, this location is not ideal! When we pulled in- there were no cars in the parking lot, everyone that I was with was a bit worried seeing as no one was there."

  • "Everyone (bartender, waitress) seemed surly and out of sorts, even though it wasn't that crowded. And when you run our of the one vegetarian entree, maybe do better than "we can do some pasta.""

  • "The food was excellent, as always, My roasted pork was tender and well-matched with red cabbage and a flavorful sauce. Everyone else enjoyed their entrees as well. On a night when the thermometer was near zero, sitting by the blazing wood fire was a real bonus -- and of course it added to the ambiance as well."

  • "We had a great dinner at Gramercy while spending the weekend in North Adams. The food was very, very good and ambience well appointed. The thai mussels, sirloin, scallops and bisque were delicious. The dessert was not great, but we figured it's more of a foodie place not dessert so its wasn't a big deal."

  • "COMFORTABLE QUIET ATMOSPHERE. SERVICE WAS GOOD BUT THE FOOD WAS OUTSTANDING. NY STRIP DONE TO OUR LIKING, CARAMELIZED MUSHROOM RAVIOLI WAS DELICIOUS, AS WELL AS THE BAY SCALLOPS. I would recommend this restaurant."

  • "Very good rabbit pot pie and blueberry pancakes. Only issue with service during sunday brunch was that I was not asked whether I would like coffee/tea whereas the other half of the table was asked that. Could have used some tea."

  • "Gramercy Bistro has not changed its menu much over the years, but I am happy ordering the same delicious things each time. What bothered me when we ate there some months ago was that the place was so popular, and the dining room so full on a Saturday night, that we couldn't hear our visitors from Brussels over the general din. This past Sunday night, however, with guests from London, we were the only people in the entire restaurant. We had an absolutely lovely time, and the waiter even turned off the music at our request! Everyone enjoyed the food, including first courses of oasted eggplant, crab cakes, bisque, and salad with goat cheese; main courses of sesame tuna, Dover sole, and schnitzel; and a shared chocolate cake dessert."

  • "My wife and I spent Saturday wondering through Mass MoCA and stayed at the Porches Inn for the evening. Gramercy Bistro was the perfect complement to our visit to the Museum. The food was fantastic and the service could not have been better. I highly recommend Gramercy Bistro to couples or a group of friends who want to have a nice quiet dinner, with pleasant conversation. The atmosphere is wonderful and its close proximity to the Museum and the Inn added to our experience in North Adams."

  • "We had heard that it was good, and were not disappointed. Not a large menu of choices, but the menu is innovative and the food was excellent. Haven't head a real Caesar Salad since most restaurants have wimped out on the raw egg, it reminded me of the Caesar's I made at home. The Paella Andalusia style was quite good, the shellfish tasted fresh. We were so pleased that we returned for brunch the next day. I highly recommend the egg tart. Rebekah & Richard Wise"

  • "Massachusetts residents dining for the first time at Gramercy on Thanksgiving Day; overall excellent dining experience; service staff was professional and quietly attentive; the dinner that day mainly fixed: a traditional, more than complete, heaped high and very delicious Thanksgiving Day dinner with a choice of appetizers and desserts; first course butternut squash/apple cider soup was rich and flavorful. I look forward to return visits to taste selections from a full service menu."

  • "Terrific food and great service. Always a treat to visit. Toughest part was choosing from the very good menu. Our party had paella, trout, ravioli, and duck. Everyone left very happy."

  • "Never expected such sophisticated fare or diligent service From a North Adams spot. We came for a sports match at Williams. Our party grew from 10 to 24 during the day and we were graciously Accommodated. Our group was mainly from New York and San Francisco So we were used to excellent dining. Everyone was impressed!! Nicely varied menu, friendly servers and reasonable Pricing for the level of cuisine. And next to Mass MOCA To boot!"

  • "We enjoyed our dinner here. Nice ambience, good food. Waitress not the most at tentative but fine. Best choice of restaurants if one is staying locally to visit Mass MOCA. It is within walking distance to Porches."

  • "I hadn't been to Gramercy in some time and my return was well worth the trip! Many of my menu favorites were still listed with a lot of nice new additions. Portions were perfect--not too large and more importantly, not too small, like many other finer dining establishments. I'm looking forward to my next visit."

  • "The restaurant was very pleasant - nice decor, speakers were right overhead and managed to remain just under annoying, except at the end when most people had left. Food was excellent. The only downside was the lack of enthusiasm or warmth from our server. Perhaps he was tired or stressed but several time I got the impression that we were bothering him. It took a while for him to come and take our order, and offer drinks - usually rule #1 to get happy customers. I didn't appreciate the 18% gratuity being included for a party of 2! We decided not to make a fuss but I don't think it warranted more than 15% for "service"."

  • "This is one of those very good restaurants that I was grateful to find in an area of Massachusetts where I don't know the foodie landscape. Meals were good with fair prices. Nothing blew us away with flavor or creativity but everything we had was nicely cooked...and presented too."
