A word from Gram & Dun
Gram & Dun is an American gastropub with culinarily-driven fare, paying special attention to pairing food with libations. It's a place "for the people" where we can relax and enjoy the neighborhood vibe while we test theories of food, drink and the evolution of good times. People need a place that calls to them when they find the time to relax, shrug off the day, and savor a meal that's unique and extraordinary; a place where they feel they belong. Our local owners and staff bring a unique, modern environment to this ideal Plaza location where we have revived the best patio in town, making Gram & Dun an enticing landmark for locals and visitors alike. In addition, Gram & Dun honors the traditional by bringing revered dishes to the forefront and adding our own special touch, and welcomes seasonality by adjusting to the natural changes our tastes succumb to as the year progresses, all in an effort to provide the best to patrons. • "We were impressed with the entire evening. Our first visit will not be our last."

  • "Probably my favorite lunch ever! Loved everything: potato chips with gourmet ketchups, shrimp & grits, all desserts (we each got a different one). My son insisted I try his burger - incredible! Dane provided fantastic service!"

  • "We met another couple at the restaurant for dinner and it was a fun night. We had great drinks (Basil Smash, Moscow Mule, etc.) and the food was delicious. I like that they had a unique twist on a lot of the dishes and appetizers."

  • "I love Gram and Dun. I have been there many times but had never taken my daughter. My husband and I decided to take her for a fun and fancy dinner. Cecilia, our waitress, was outstanding and very kind to my daughter. The food was delicious and the service was great. Can't wait to go back!"

  • "Three of us went there go a friend's birthday. From cocktails to apps to entrees and the desserts were innovative and for the most part delicious. The Pig Wings were amazing! The pork tenderloin and pork chops were also perfectly done. I had the catfish which was delicious, but slightly over cooked. Two of the three desserts were amazing! The C Cup had cardamom which didn't really work well for our tastes. Our server could use some more training. She almost seemed put out by our drink orders or the fact that we wanted dessert and was slow to bring drinks from the bar...I watched our first drink order sit for 10 minutes while she had vanished."

  • "If you like pork, which I do, this is a great place. Innovative menu for adventurous foodies."

  • "We had 4 different entrees. None boring or pedestrian, All were considered delicious by the group, as we traded bites. The service was friendly and attentive. We had a new server, I believe his name is Jamie. He did an excellent job."

  • "My friends took me to Gram and Dun to celebrate my retirement from teaching. It was a great choice! The wine list was extensive. The service was quite good, and the food was great! Several enjoyed the Blackened shrimp and grits, and I had the flank steak. I had a taste of the grits.. they were incredible! The beans on the steak were ok.. but the steak was tender and very good. Our favorite however.. was the Gram and Dun Bar for dessert.. Wow! If there was one thing I would have improved upon, it was where we were seated. The air conditioning vent was right at my feet.. and we froze! So, I had to move. Other than that, everything was great!"

  • "Went out with my wife on a biannual date. Loved the food, drinks, and service. Our server was Tara and she was fantastic! Pork shoulder, burnt end Mac and cheese, spatzle, tater tot, oatmeal cookie were all great. Can't wait to go back!"

  • "Great food - everything that was supposed to be hot was hot and everything tasted delicious. The drinks were also quite tasty. Our server, Britney was awesome. It was an overall wonderful brunch, and if I lived in KC, I'd be a regular."

  • "We ate here on a Saturday night. The weather was iffy, so we dined inside. If you have the chance to eat on the patio, do it; but the inside is lovely and we got a window table so we had the view. Started with the Smoking Dun cocktail and grilled rosemary sourdough. I had the jerk chicken and my companion had the shrimp and grits. Yum, yum, yum. Salad and soup were also good. Desserts were excellent-cracked up pie and PB&J pie (nightly special). Service was welcoming, friendly, but very professional. There is valet parking if that is important to you. It gets a little loud, so be warned, but don't let that stop you from going."

  • "My husband and I needed a fun date night out and ended up at Gram & Dun. Our food was fantastic, service was great, and the dessert is to die for!"

  • "Our meals were fantastic, service was superior. Everyone from the host staff to the managers were very nice and attentive. The restaurant was loud, but it was Friday night so no surprise there, and not a big deal."

  • "My wife and I enjoyed our 26th anniversary dinner at Gram and Dun and, as usual, had an excellent dining experience. The food was excellent and service was great. Another plus for Gram and Dun."

  • "We love dining outdoors at Gram & Dun; however this time we couldn't (as it was packed). Food was delicious, husband had the grilled cheese and raved about it while I had the baked potato gnocchi which was absolutely delicious. Drinks were delicious and service was attentive and fun. Well worth it!"

  • "BJ was a fabulous server as were all the folks who assisted. Great food. Outstanding service. Great evening!"

  • "Gram and Dun has a large patio as well as indoor seating. It's an older and established restaurant on the plaza but the food isn't old - lots of interesting menu items and drink menu is a winner as well. The signature drink, The Smoking Dun, is fabulous! Made from Templeton Rye and smoked ice, it's a one of a kind. Delicious. Outstanding burger. My halibut special was lovely and creatively presented on slate tile. Loved the curved booth where we could sit side by side and watch the buzz of the plaza pass by - ask for one of those. Excellent experience. Would return in a hearbeat."

  • "Food is fabulous! Always want to order everything on the menu. Can't wait to return to try my next pick."

  • "Took a party of 7 there for a client dinner. The wait staff was great. The restaurant was a great balance of hip and classy. The appetizers were okay. Once of the entrees (the boar) was overcooked and did not have the best flavor. The scallops were great, although the side that accompanied the scallops, blackened cauliflower, were a little too blackened."

  • "We had a great time celebrating our birthdays, though of all my visits, this was not the best visit to Gram & Dun. The patio space is nice, but can get hot. I decided to try something new and had the Shrimp and Grits with the jalapeno gravy. Before ordering, I asked the server how hot the gravy was. She replied that it wasn't. Luckily, I asked for it on the side because when I tasted a small amount on my fork, I nearly choked it was so hot. So if you don't like spicy food, be warned. The grits were fantastic. Without a sauce on the dish, it was a little dry/bland. But if you enjoy the gravy, I'm sure it's fantastic. My dining partner had the gnocchi, which is one of the best dishes there. She loved it. And Asian Pig Wings all around!"

  • "Great service and great food. I love this place. The food is just the right portions and the servers work in teams and they work well together. The staff really takes care of you when you are there. Food was cooked perfect and the menu selection is one of the best."

  • "Seated us as wrong party. Brought wrong drink. Very loud! Food was just ok. Husband did not like his Red Snapper. My scallops were good but cauliflower was supposed to be roasted and was more just dusted with cumin."

  • "Interesting and tasty brunch menu, love the ambiance."

  • "Joined family and friends for a bachelorette day brunch. We had great service, enjoyed a variety of dishes from the menu and no one had any complaints. The bar was able to make a non-alcoholic, refreshing beverage for our party's non-drinker without any issues. The burnt end mac and cheese was spectacular, as were the coddled eggs, croque madame, gumbo, biscuits and gravy, and the PBR chicken sandwich! Will definitely be back again."

  • "We love G&D! Whenever we are in town we stop and eat. Good food is always a thing, nice variety. We sat outside and the breeze was amazing, the "brunch beverage cart" was just cool as heck. DELICIOUS!"

  • "Our waitress, who I wish I could remember the name, was more than amazing. She went out of her way to make us feel comfortable and enjoy our time. I recommend the shrimp and grits, then, of course, the crack pie! Though you can expect to pay between 21-30 on an entree yourself, the quality matched te bill. It's hard to find such a fine restaurant and I can promise I will without a doubt be back."

  • "Food delicious! Wanted patio seating, but sat just on the inside of the restaurant. Service was great and the Gram and Dun dessert was sinfully delicious! Perfect date night!"

  • "We happened to be seated at two different patio tables in one night and both were aggravatingly uncomfortable. We sat down and later moved because of the sun and a broken umbrella. That was fine, probably was broken and they can't control the sun. But to even sit at that table AND the one we were moved to, you had to be an acrobat to get into two chairs out of four. They could NOT be pulled back far enough. The tables would not move either. If you are 10 or younger, yeah maybe you could "gracefully climb in." One less table, revenue from four less diners -- would be all that is necessary to make dining for all more enjoyable."

  • "Excellent food and service. No complaints at all. Should have gone back the next night."

  • "A friend of mine was recommended this place by her friend. I decided it was the restaurant to be for my birthday brunch with her and my fiance. I had the Croque Madame. Amazing! Perfect for anyone who likes eggs benedict, ham, cheese, or poached eggs. I also had a mimosa, which I found to be on the smaller side given that it was $8. My friend had the waffles with cherry syrup (which she said could've been sweeter). And my fiance had the burnt ends mac and cheese which he ranked in the top four pastas he's ever had in his life. Our waiter was nice and knowledgeable about the food, but was nowhere to be seen by the end of our meal when we needed our check. The restaurant is beautiful; even the bathrooms were modern. I'd eat here again."

  • "Pasta carbonara was over cooked and watery. The pasta held no sauce and it was poorly executed."

  • "This place never disappoints. We've been here for brunch, lunch, happy hour, and dinner and it's ALWAYS great."

  • "ur first time and the food and service was excellent. A very interesting menu and a very knowledgeable server. A great spirits list and with prices. We especially enjoyed being able to taste a couple of wines we were not familiar with before making a choice."

  • "Great food! Great Service! Great outdoor dining! This is a great place to meet for lunch or dinner with business associates or just meeting a friend. I would highly recommend the Mac-n-cheese on Burnt-ends. No calories or carbs! Amazing."

  • "Visited a few different times now, always had a great experience. The food is always fantastic, but at the end of my last visit (a 9:30 Friday night reservation) our server went MIA for a bit. With the exception of this last visit I have always had great service. "

  • "Service was very good. Prince Edward Island Mussels appetizer was outstanding and the highlight of the meal. Loaded Baked Potato Gnocchi entree was good but very heavy. Smoked Pork Carbonara entree had a good texture but was also heavy and rather bland. We shared the Pretzel Spatzel as a side and it was delicious. "

  • "I'm from Atlanta where this type of concept is super prevalent with multiple well executed examples. G&D was a little underwhelming. The brussel sprout salad was coarse and dry... the jerk chicken over-charred. While I get that pork belly is extremely fatty, the pork belly at G&D was less than 10% edible. The cocktails, however, were top notch. Fresh and not over engineered. I had the blue oak and and another signature rye cocktail... Excellent. One more thing to note, it was hot inside... Made it hard to enjoy the food."

  • "Pros: Everyone loved what they ate. I was told the Green Eggs & Ham were the best eggs ever. The prices were reasonable. The lemonade was great. Cons: The homemade chips taste great, but are very messy and difficult to eat. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu, but when a child ordered a bowl of gumbo, did not suggest a cup instead. That bowl of gumbo would have filled up a linebacker. We will definitely go back for lunch/dinner, but probably not Brunch unless they put the French Toast back on the menu."

  • "We met some of our favorite foodie friends the other night and sat on the patio. A perfect evening with great food and drinks! From the apps to the desserts, it was spot on. May favorite was the Shrimp and Grits! The staff was very attentive and provided great recommendations! "

  • "My fiancée and I were determined to eat at a non-chain establishment during our visit to the Country Club Plaza area of KC (which is hard, since most of the restaurants in the area are chains). Our experience at Gram & Dun was extraordinary. The food was delicious, with outstanding flavor. The service was excellent, and the outdoor eating scene was particularly enjoyable on a clear, sunny evening, since the dining/bar area overlooks the Creek. I would highly recommend Gram & Dun, and plan to eat there again whenever I return to KC."
