The Loaded Baked Potato Gnocchi is amazing, and the others at my table enjoyed the Blackened Shrimp & Grits and Cioppino. I ordered a half salad and a sandwich, and both arrived at the same time. The food runner was dumb-founded and asked me what he should do. I explained the sandwich would sit and get cold at the table since I was about to eat my salad. I then asked if his plan was to place it under a food lamp. He said, "I guess we could make another." He then luckily decided on his own that was a good idea. Also, my server was clearly upset that I was dining by myself (as I was traveling), made minimal appearances and was curt when she did come by. I had the brussel sprout salad which was exceptionally good followed by the short rib grilled cheese -- really flavorful. My friend had the crispy pork shoulder with sweet tea reduction, also really tasty. Good service -- friendly and attentive but never pushy. Ambiance is nice. I have to say they have spectacular food. The catfish is excellent, and I know from my friends that the pork chop and asian pig wings are excellent. The restaurant is nicely decorated and has an upscale feel, but don't be worried about wearing jeans. The outdoor patio is the place to sit if the weather permits. The first time we had a large family group including a child that had extreme food allergies. When making the restaurant reservation, they informed us that they could provide a menu for the child that would avoid all the allergies listed. They did - and it was an excellent evening for everybody - especially the parents of the child who on this occasion, at least, did not have to pack up a meal for the child to bring along. We all had a wonderful time. On our second most recent visit, just my wife and myself. We were immediately seated, pleased with a waiter who was attentive but not intrusive, and food that was again outstanding. However, Gram & Dun proved to be outstanding time and time again. On our most recent visit, it took a little too long to be greeted and get drinks ordered but I have to think the server was just busy. That being the only issue as once he arrived at our table he was phenomenal. Everything we ordered was phenomenal. Far too often I find myself paying $12 for a cocktail I'm not sure has any vodka in it but not the case at Gram and Dun, the drinks we ordered (although basic - Vodka Tonics) were great. The patio, in my option, is the best in Kansas City and Kansas City has some incredible patios. We were there for a late breakfast/early lunch. The breakfast corn dogs were tasty and I recommend trying some. I also had the Jackson salad (my favorite!) and the loaded bake potato gnocchi. AMAZING!! My friend had my old favorite--the short rib grilled cheese sandwich and she liked it as much as I did. As the menu changes to take advantage of seasonal offerings, I recommend putting Gram & Dun in your regular rotation, especially with spring patio weather coming (eventually).
