A word from Gram & Dun
Gram & Dun is an American gastropub with culinarily-driven fare, paying special attention to pairing food with libations. It's a place "for the people" where we can relax and enjoy the neighborhood vibe while we test theories of food, drink and the evolution of good times. People need a place that calls to them when they find the time to relax, shrug off the day, and savor a meal that's unique and extraordinary; a place where they feel they belong. Our local owners and staff bring a unique, modern environment to this ideal Plaza location where we have revived the best patio in town, making Gram & Dun an enticing landmark for locals and visitors alike. In addition, Gram & Dun honors the traditional by bringing revered dishes to the forefront and adding our own special touch, and welcomes seasonality by adjusting to the natural changes our tastes succumb to as the year progresses, all in an effort to provide the best to patrons. Diner Reviews
  • "The food, drinks and atmosphere are all delicious."

  • "Really enjoyed my evening at Gram and Dun. The food was so well prepared--I had the pork belly over pretzel spatzle. I can still remember the umami three days later. It was a very cool evening weather wise, but we were able to eat outside by a warming fire. Was overall a great experience. "

  • "The staff was friendly and the ambience was nice, but it took over 45 minutes to get our food."

  • "The drinks are delicious and unique, the food is good but not spectacular. "

  • "The food, both selection and prep, and wait staff could not have been better. The rude hostess, however, almost made us leave before we even were seated. The food and our server made up for her."

  • "Excellent and the head waiter even opened up a side gate for me to enter as I have a hard time walking very far."

  • "Our large party of nine received great service from Joan, who was appropriately attentive and had great recommendations. Our appetizers were particularly delicious; we loved the Asian Pig Wings and Wild Boar & Bison Meatballs."

  • "Tried the Asian Pig Wings for the first time at the recommendation of our waiter, Bobby. They were awesome! We had the Burnt Ends Mac & Cheese, the BSP (brisket, sausage & pork) and the Wild Boar Sloppy Joe. All were amazing and yummy!"

  • "It was our first time dining here for lunch on Friday, 4th of April 2014! Great food! We had a wonderful server, Brittany, and wonderful host! Both very knowledgeable and articulate while describing the drink andfood menu! Great atmosphere! We will be absolutely be back!"

  • "We ate here on a Sunday night. Not as busy, a little quieter which was nice. Doors were open to patio but we dined inside. View is great and patio is a nice place to eat when it's warmer. I had the pork chop which was good but was served in a bowl-like dish which made it hard to eat. My companion had the smoked pork carbonara and he loved it. We started with rosemary bread and G&D salads, also very good. Save room for dessert. I had the Hull and Oats. Wine list is interesting, cocktails are good and the service is professional. Valet parking out front makes it easy."

  • "Gram and Dun is a fun place for Sunday brunch or lunch. The atmosphere is pleasant, and while it's busy, it's still relaxing. The service is friendly and attentive. The menu is interesting for a casual lunch. We had the burger, the short rib sandwich, and the beer can chicken sandwich. We started with the fried peppers for an appetizer. Everything was excellent."

  • "our overall experience was good and I am glad we made reservations. our server was good but the noise level was so high that it was often hard to hear what she said. Everyone enjoyed the food. I had the buffalo short rib strog and it could have used a bit more meat and less pasta, however the flavor was good. My wife had scallops which were good and our friends had fried chix and waffles which were very good and the pork shoulder which was a bit of a disappointment, although I'm not sure why. The Jackson salad was excellent."

  • "Met a friend for lunch on a rainy day. Soup of the moment was a delicious creamy mushroom. I had the goat cheese and arugula salad. It didn't have enough dressing (which is unusual for me) and I should have ask for more. Otherwise very tasty. My friend had the PBR chicken sandwich. Huge serving with fries and she enjoyed her lunch. Seemed to be a popular spot for lunch, but was still at a noise level that you could enjoy a conversation at a normal level. Will definitely go back."

  • "We got there for an early dinner and the place was pretty much empty. Over the next hour, it became packed, on a Wednesday night! to server (Kaitlyn) was awesome. She was knowledgeable about the drinks and the menu. We frequent many great restaurants and this was one if the bests. My wife had the baked potato gnocchi (which they were nice enough to make without sour cream). I had the pork shoulder. Wish we had room for dessert. We will definitely be back if we return to the Kansas City area."

  • "It was just ok. Nothing special. I've had better versions of their meals at other restaurants."

  • "Tasty, upscale comfort food. First time in Kansas City and it was a cool spot with tasty food, interesting and thoughtful cocktails. I would recommend it."

  • "Very interesting menu for the mid-west. Lots of southern food (grits, waffles, etc.) that we don't see in Kansas City. Food was excellent and the staff very informative and attentive. The only reason I rated this a 4 star instead of a 5 star is that it was very noisy so was not a place that you could just sit and chat with friends for very long."

  • "Wonderful waiter! Don't order a cocktail, get wine or beer because both of our drinks were very watered down. Argula and goat cheese salad was disappointing. Catfish and gravy were superb but the greens with it were too citrusy with the fabulous gravy. I would come back again for service, decor and gravy!!!!"

  • "Dinner prior to a theater performance proved very enjoyable with server pacing the meal so that we were not rushed but were able to leave on time. Scallops, Tuna salad, Short Rib pasta and Mac n Cheese entrees were all very well done. We will be going back!"

  • "We loved the creative menu. Everything was delicious and the service was perfect."

  • "We love coming to Gram & Dun for a nice dinner after some shopping. The bartender knows how to make a drink, and we'd be back just for that....but the food! The food was stellar as well! Top marks all around. Food, drink and service. We will definitely be back, and we will definitely be recommending to friends."

  • "I have to have an experience that is less than the best. Always a great experience and I've enjoyed every dish I have ordered thus far."

  • "I brought my wife here, and we absolutely loved it. I had the Burnt End Mac and Cheese, which I have to say is the best spin on the classic I have ever experienced. My wife enjoyed the Pub Tart, and it was quite delicious as well. Also, we started with the Asian Pork Wings, it's absolutely an incredible appetizer. The server was great, but the food and drink here are what will draw you back. This is undoubtably a new favorite of mine and my wife's. We will be back."

  • "It was St. Patrick's day so it was a little loud and crowded by the bar, but the food and service was exceptional as always. Save room for dessert and get the Crack Pie!"
    Dined on 3/17/2014
  • "This reatuarant was better suited for the grown ups than the teen agers in our party. The hamburger was burnt tasting and the gumbo average. However my avacado salad with fried goat cheese was outstanding and the highlight of my meal. Our server was attentive and her wine choice suggestion was spot on. Overall a good dining experience."

  • "Always a great meal at Gram and Dun. I would say that the wait staff is usually outstanding but our waitress this time was a big disappointment. She was constantly trying to push us to order more items and upsell our drink orders. Besides the waitress we had a very good meal."

  • "Upon waiting at the bar for 1/2 an hour, I was told by the hostess they take reservations but that is not a promise of a seat. When I questioned why they were on open table for reservations, they became rude & defensive!"

  • "Thoroughly enjoyed the food and was impressed by the superior service. But we had trouble hearing each other talking over the piped-in music."
    Dined on 3/7/2014
  • "We were disappointed in our Gram & Dun experience. Their website suggests a charming, romantic atmosphere and classy dining. This was not the case. We actually had a reservation and still waited nearly 20 minutes for a table, because "some of our other parties stayed longer than we thought they would." (What was the point of a reservation?!) Our server insisted that our menu was comprised of comfort food, but most of the dishes are very pretentious on the actual menu. The food was good, but we had to shout to hear each other throughout the meal, the place was full of hipsters and older people who try too hard to look cool and there was loud techno music. G&D could probably charge 2x as much if they changed their atmosphere and music."

  • "I host my nieces and nephews to dinner once a month. We did a brunch at Gram and Dunn on sunday, in the midst of a snow storm. Seven of us. Great food, great service, beautiful view of the snow, Brush Creek, the flame pits/heaters on the patio. Perfect."

  • "Took my dad there for his birthday. It was a first time for all of us. We were seated right away, and had cold water poured immediately. Our waiter was outstanding!! He was extrememly knowledgeable about everything on the menu, and was also able to joke around with us and make our experience fun and exciting. Although they were out of the 1 thing that I wanted (very popular item), the tenderloin they brought me was absolutely perfect! amazing flavor and cooked exactly how I wanted it. In fact, my mom, dad, and wife all got the tenderloin and theirs were all the best they had ever eaten as well! Couldn't be happier with the food and the experience."

  • "We eat here at least every other month. Food is always amazing. So many wonderful items on the menu. Have never had a bad experience at Gram and Dun! Twice this winter we have been here while it's been snowing outside. Such a gorgeous view to watch the snow fall on the beautifully lit patio while the fire pits roar."
