A word from Graffito
We do things a little differently at Graffito...

We are very committed to doing fresh, locally sourced cooking, from scratch. We make all of our pastas in house. We bake all of our own breads and buns. Our chef even makes his own mozzarella and Italian sausage! At Graffito we take seriously the tagline: Scratch Italian Cooking!

Our menu is built to allow you to plan your meal in a number of different ways:

The “Graffito Experience” means lots of courses to share, small plates for the table and great food friendly wines. It is Cibo Con Amici, food among friends. It is great Milwaukee dining with a real Italian sensibility. Whether it is dinner with friends in our dining room, a corporate dinner in our private dining room, small plates and drinks on our patio, we have created a restaurant experience that allows you to eat what you want, how you want....all made from scratch!

  • This was an unusual situation

This was an unusual situation knowing that this location was closing but we were pleased to find out that there was no let-down of the efforts made by the staff in making our visit completely enjoyable. The food was amazing and the service was quite efficient. My 17 year-old granddaughter was celebrating her birthday and her enjoyment was topped by our complimentary dessert. We'll miss you.

This is the third time my friends and I had visited Graffito, but the first time for an actual (birthday) celebration. While the food is always impressive and of excellent quality, the service left much to be desired. The waiter initially only took one drink order (there were three of us at the table at the time), and then we had to be more vocal once the last member of our party arrived to get drink orders in. While he did get our food orders right, he seemed very distracted (even though the restaurant wasn't particularly busy), and we waited quite a long while between putting our drink orders in and being able to get our food as well as ordering dessert. Outside of that experience, it was a good time overall.

REALLY - we hear this great restaurant serving homemade pasta/Italian food made will be closing in the future. We thoroughly enjoyed Graffito - the loacation in Milwaukee's Historic 3rd Ward is perfect! We sat outside on the river (great view); we loved the house cocktails and had fresh HOMEMADE mozarella bites were lightly fried - scrumptious! Our pasta dishes were wonderful, the wine selection great and oh yes, the service was amazing! So here's the SAD PART. Attendance at the restaurant has dropped since the whole Ryan Braun thing happened. He used to co-own a restaurant at this same location (not Graffito) and (apparently) agreed to let the new owners use his name, too since the river location was so well known. Bad press=Sad shame

While the food was certainly good, I think it was a little over-hyped. The pasta dishes didn't really showcase their homemade pasta making it difficult to tell that it was homemade pasta...from scratch. We'd like to go back in warmer weather to enjoy their outdoor dining since the location along the river is very lovely.

In from Chicago for the weekend, and one of only a few places open on Sunday. Liked the space and had large terrace on river which was nice. Enjoyed apps/salads. Pastas were fine, but found them very salty (we use little to no salt at home). Bolognese and duck pappardelle. Did not enjoy finding a piece of plastic wrap in my son's meatball.

Went to celebrate my sisters birthday who was in from Ireland. The night started out decent - hostess was friendly and they did provide cute cards to decorate the table with and a dessert with a candle (chocolate was good on the plate & on the top of cake). Most food was ok to edible, but some not so good (like the hot wing ravioli). I had hopes for this, but was a fail. Gnocchi small plate had ok gnocchi but the sauce was not good. Lobster risotto and beef carpaccio were good. Then the wait staff started off decent, but then was absent most of the time after we placed order and the restaurant was pretty dead for a Friday night, mostly disappointed for celebrating a milestone birthday. Bottom line over priced for mediocre food.

Ryan Braun's Graffito should not be completely confused with Ryan Braun, the now "disgraced" outfielder of the Milwaukee Brewers. Mr. Braun does not own this restaurant and basically licensed the use of his name. Head Chef Joe McCormick served up yet another masterpiece dinner. I had the requisite spaghetti and meatballs and my wife had swordfish. The food was perfectly prepared - and quickly devoured. Can't say I am sure what the overall impact is of Mr. Braun's suspension from baseball, but patrons should not let that impact their coming to this restaurant. It's a nice place, the food is great, and the service is marvelous.

My husband and I brought my 90 year old mother here for a quiet early dinner, so the bar scene hadn't heated up yet, which was fine with us. Basically, the front part of the establishment is an upscale sports bar, and I suspect it gets livelier later on. We had a table in the dining room, overlooking the water, which was pleasant. The ambience was pleasant but casual, the service friendly and knowledgeable. The food was what really stood out. Salads were fresh. Mom, a picky eater, found her steak excellent. . My husband and I ordered the scallops, just to try something different. They were exquisite--I'd return just to be able to order them again.

Went here with two friend for a girls night out. Unfortunately there was a SCREAMING toddler next to us the entire meal, and her parents didn't have the courtesy to take her outside during her many tantrums. Our server was fantastic! Attentive, knowledgeable, and patiently put up with my friend's constant need for pictures to be taken in "better light". Unfortunately, our food was underwhelming. My pasta primavera was extremely bland, the only flavor was in the delicious cherry tomatoes. My friend's salmon was slightly undercooked and the risotto was crunchy. The last friend was pleased with her tapas selections. I have dined here before and been so much more impressed with the flavor and presentation, but I will try it one more time.

So this place has been on my list of restaurants to try for quite a while. Being from out of town, it's got to be a time when I'm in Milwaukee. Those stars aligned for this past Saturday night. We had an early reservation, but looking at the place when were entered, we probably didn't need one. The dining room is has a comfortable but slightly upscale feel to it. Wait staff was friendly and attentive, though the bus person must have been bored, because he was there too quickly as we were finishing items. Made us feel rushed. The food was good, but not great. The tomato mozzarella salad, which I paired with the hot wing ravioli as my entree, was actually my highlight. The ravioli was just ok, warm, not hot. Off the list now.

We had been here for a graduation dinner and everything was wonderful. Food was great, our waiter was incredible, and they added special touches. This time we went for a wedding anniversary, and the food sucked, our waitress didn't talk to us, never checked on us, was inattentive yet she had plenty of time to lean against the bar and converse with others. I managed to make it through my entire entree without a drink, and I finally had to flag down a different waiter who was helping the tables next to us. She was completely rude, and was lucky to earn a 3% tip. She obviously hates her job, and shouldn't be working at a place like this. Although the dinner was ruined, the valet man went above and beyond, and was rewarded well.

The salmon was phenomenal. So very flaky that I swear that it fell apart before my fork actually touched-down! (No knife required) And the Chocolate Hazlenut Mousse, with salted carmel gelato: A little slice of Heaven on Earth. We ate indoors, as it was too windy to sit outside on the river, but we still had a great view from our table near the windows. The service was attentive, but not intrusive. The food was all fresh and tasted great, a large variety of items on the menu as well as great drinks. Unique items but still "normal" great food for anyone! It is also amazingly reasonable and we did not hold back, we had appetizers, dessert, drinks and still spent half of what we expected to...great place all around. Something like fried calamari that some places you have to dip to get flavor on it... This one you can eat on its own. Bottom line, very flavorful food!

I am still dreaming about the peanut butter gelato ;) Our server was new (3 weeks) but very green. He forgot to put in my salad and my husband was done with his appetizer long before my salad even arrived. He also never offered to refill my ice tea. Long disappearances and tough to catch our server. Thank goodness we were not in a hurry! We will still go back- excellent restaurant!
