Gracie'sHollywood glamour and great foodThe food here is spectacular and the atmosphere is old Hollywood. There were 4 in our party and every single thing I tried was delicious: crab cakes, sizzling mushrooms, salmon, pasta, all outstanding. My only complaint is that the portions are small but that will not deter me from going back. 2nd time here, and I'm a big fan. PS - the drinks named after movie stars are delicious! The Ginger Rogers and Frida Kahlo are my favorite.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMservice was very good. theservice was very good. the food was good though my steak was more medium rare than the medium I ordered .6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent night outMy 17-year old twins and I took my husband to Gracie's for his birthday. We ordered from the June dining month menu, which was extensive. Between the four of us, we sampled at least three of the items from each section. All were good, several were excellent. The sauteed mushrooms were a particular highlight.
The ambiance was very pleasant -- elegant without being fussy. The service was attentive, again without being fussy. We felt very comfortable and well taken care of.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMPlenty of optionsThe best part is that for Portland dining month, they give you a wonderful selection rather than just one item. Anyone should find something they like.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMVery nice comfortable placeVery nice comfortable place for good conversation. Salads were nicely presented and delicious. We did not discuss our entrees, but my lamb was a little stringy and oddly had some small pieces of ham mixed into the dish.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food. Fast greatExcellent food. Fast great service. Beautiful ambience. Will come back!6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMUpdated, Traditional EleganceGracie's, in an historic Portland hotel (the Deluxe, formerly the Mallory) offers consistently good food and service in an updated, yet still elegant traditional setting. It is a convenient destination restaurant in the downtown Portland core. What would life be without Gracie's Traditional Eggs Benedict!6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGracies's a Hit!Went to Gracie's to celebrate our 41st anniversary. Used the PDX Dining Month menu and were so pleased and impressed. The food outstanding. The staff was friendly and professional. Will definitely return. Thanks for a memorable evening.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious Dining & Superb ServiceFirst time to this restaurant and came for the Portland June Dining month special. My group was very impress with the variety of the regular menu as well as the June menu. We were seated promptly and Scott our server was immediately present to take our drink order. He paced our dinner beautifully and the food was wonderful.
I'm going to round up more friends to go for a meal. It's right on the MAX line and has excellent parking on the street, public parking as well as it's own valet lot.
A great dining experience!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious food, great service! The crab-and-shrimp cakes at Gracie's were simply wonderful - perhaps the best in the area! Grilled salmon and prawns were delicious, as well. And the service was first-rate!6/7/2013 12:00:00 AM1st Dining Month ExperienceWaiter was great in giving advice for cocktails. The amount of sections was a wonderful idea in that my group each pick a dish and shared them all! At first glance the portions looked a little small but once you start eating, you actually find out that it is a little more than you can handle! The appetizers that we had (mushrooms, wilted spinach salad, and crab cakes) were all so delicious! The second course (pasta, pork chop, and steak) were good but not as great as the appetizers. Unfortunately, I did have to send my steak back (ordered medium rare and received well done) but the wait staff was so nice about it and tried to make up for it. The desserts were killer! Great job Gracie's!6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGood 'ol Gracie'sI have been to Gracie's twice, both times as part of Portland Dining Month. Last year, it was our favorite restaurant we dined in during the month. This year, it did not disappoint again. Started with sizzling mushrooms, where they bring the mushrooms in a skillet just taken off the stove. Very nice, though they could have thrown in some more exotic mushrooms. My entree of cassoulet was very flavorful, with the beans clearly cooked in a very tasty broth. Good local sausages and pork belly completed this excellent dish. I had to repeat my dessert choice from last year by getting the creme brulee, because although it is not innovative, they do an excellent version. The only downside is an expensive wine list.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGracie's is excellent! They always have great food and service. It's usually my first stop with Portland dining month!6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat ExperienceThe service level at Gracies is almost unheard of. Very polite, professional and on top of things but not stuffy or stodgy. I've been here a couple times and have never been disappointed. The food was prepared perfectly and everyone in our group was impressed.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect Birthday Brunch!Five of us met at Gracie's to celebrate a birthday on Sunday, late morning. The reservation system worked great, the staff gave us a nice table/booth, and the service was excellent. Our group had brunch -- German pancakes, corned beef hash, and eggs benedict entrees. Food was very good--the German pancakes are a highlight--only complaint was that all food was not delivered to the table at the same time. The pancakes arrived for two of us and then the other entrees followed about 5 minutes later, which is a long time when you are waiting for everyone to be served. Overall, though, this is a great spot for brunch and for celebrating -- a reminder of traditional Portland!6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways great Brunch! Thanks Jeff for making my mom's birthday that much more special!6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Place to EatWe found Gracies thru the list of Restaurants on the June Portland Dining Month Marketing Initiative. We did not know that Gracies existed if it weren't for this Marketing initiative. We are glad that we have found a new place that offers a great ambiance, great food and a friendly staff. We highly recommend that you try Gracie's.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my fifth year goingThis was my fifth year going to Gracie's and each year the food has improved. This year the food was outstanding. Beautifully presented and served. I was part of a large group and the service was very friendly and efficient. I also changed the number that would be at the table several time. They, not only, got it right they were very accommodating with all of the changes.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful eveningThe food was superb and the service outstanding. Would recommend Gracie's anytime.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMour new favoriteWe love everything about this lovely restaurant! The small plates are a wonderful way to order. Quality of the food is uniformly excellent. Elegant dining room. Very friendly and attentive service. Our new special occasion restaurant.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Low Key o DeLuxe Swank Gracie'sThe dining room harkens back in time to an era long gone by. The booths with marble tables are a lovely touch if you are out on a date (which I was). Service was well done and also unobtrusive. The food was well done standard hotel fare. There were many regional reflections imbued in classic dishes on the menu. The eggs benedict on shrimp and crab cakes was quite good. I'd have added a bit more lemon to the otherwise perfect hollandaise. My girl friend's hangtown fry fritatta was also very good. The marbled toast with strawberry freezer jam was lovely. This is not a trendy or hipster place and that is a good thing if you want a solid, elegant meal in the core of the city.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMAnniversary DinnerAll reviews I read for Gracie's were spot on! I had done some research looking for an intimate, romantic setting for our anniversary dinner and this was a great spot. Booths are great, not too close to other tables and you can sit side-by-side! The food was very good, will go again.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely varietyWe greatly enjoyed our interesting cocktails (a flaming Negroni!) and every dish we ordered--especially the sizzling mushrooms. The pear tart was heavenly! If you like dressing up for dinner and prefer a variety of small plates to large entrees, this is the place for you.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMNice evening even with kids!We had dinner with 5 kids between our two families, and were pleased that Gracie's catered well for the younger set with a good selection of food options. They enjoyed their meals and coloring sheets, while us parents had a lovely meal. We found the portions smaller than expected for some dishes, but still ample food for a meal. Nice decor and ambience.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day at GraciesI took my wife out for a Mother's Day dinner at Gracie's and although I would consider it a little more formal we brought our 11 month old baby with us. He was messy and a little loud but everyone was very gracious. I really enjoyed our food and I would recommend it to any couple or small group. It was exceptional!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThe tasting menu is perfect. Many place has small plates, though Gracie's has them priced correctly, so you really can try many items and not overspend. My spouse had a simple salad, and I had a sausage lentil soup. The soup was particularly good. My spouse loves the trout almondine, which is consistently great. I had the halibut with snap peas, which was beautifully presented and the risotto, which was very good. We finished with three scoops of "Scoop" ice cream, which is always delicious.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMOld-style, elegant restaurant. This restaurant is a quality throw-back to a time of elegance. Music was delightful and just a hint in the background. Perfect volume level. Our server, Terry, was excellent. Dishes were well prepared and a good portion without being 'super sized'. Coffee was plentiful. We were there for brunch and there were many choices for any palate. This is a hidden gem and was perfect for celebrating Mother's Day.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous menuMy biggest complaint about Gracie's is that it was hard to decide what to order. Everything looked so good. I ended up getting the tricolor quinoa, asparagus and the scallops. I was pretty full, and it would have been better if I'd had a dining companion to share with. The scallops were tender and cooked perfectly. The food was simple and not overly seasoned. No heavy sauces, just the flavor of the food coming out. The atmosphere was great. High ceilings and ornate chandeliers. Formal and classy without seeming stuffy. I will definitely return here.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experienceOur family enjoyed the dinner at Gracie. The food is great and I loved the presentation. The price is reasonable also!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGracies, a unique experience.Portland has a large variety of great restaurants with good food. Gracies is no exception with farm to table choices and a good wine list. What separates Gracies is the atmosphere of the place. Set in a 101 year old hotel, everything speaks of another era. Very high ceilings, unique architectural ornamentation, a staff waiting in the wings to make sure your dining experience is all that it can be, Gracies is a great place for a romantic dinner or group gathering for a special night out. The food is good, the prices reasonable, the atmosphere excellent. Enjoy!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMService was excellent, asService was excellent, as were the small plate choices. We loved the variety and will be back!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWe Love Gracie'sWe've been to Gracie's a few times, all for brunch, and each time the food quality is wonderful and the service very efficient. On two of our visits we brought other couples with us and they all agree with us, very, very good. Their in-house smoked salmon is my husband's very favorite. I'm partial to their corned beef hash which has spinach mixed in that adds a nice colorful touch. If you're a fan of champagne, their Elizabeth Taylor cocktail is not to be missed.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Group Lunch Spot!Took a group of our admin staff as a thank you. Everyone loved the atmosphere and food.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed a quiet family breakfast! We chose Gracie's for a Sunday brunch because of the quiet environment. Our group of six had an 80-year-old and a 60-year-old with hearing challenges. The carpet and drapes kept the extraneous noise down so that everyone could visit and enjoy breakfast.
For this reason alone we'll be back.
Oh, and we enjoyed the food as well!4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMPlan to make it a traditionPlan to make it a tradition with another couple to catch up on our lives. The small plates offer variety and good options. 3 of us had the roasted beet salad and would do it again. My husband really enjoyed the roasted asparagus. We shared the chili green beans with our entree. The service was perfect - concerned, sincere and calm. Don't miss the bread pudding.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious and varied mealWe started with a cocktail from the Driftwood Room, which are always superb. We brought a bottle of wine, and the corkage fee is very reasonable at $15. We started with an asparagus salad and a small plate of ravioli caprese; both were delicious. We then had a salad course of a caesar and mixed greens; both were perfectly dressed. For the main courses, I ordered the NY steak and my spouse had the trout almondine. We really liked them both and had an order of forest mushrooms. For desert, we had the crunchy bread pudding with bourbon ice cream. We generally like bread pudding, and this one has moved into first place in Portland.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMVery nice experience. TheVery nice experience. The ambience was special and the service great. The food was good, but the choices not exceptional in my opinion.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMQuiet and elegant; excellentQuiet and elegant; excellent service and very good food. Great for a pre-theater dinner.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGracie's is great! What a great contrast to our previous night's dining disaster! Here was a warm welcome, cheerful service and unpretentious food in elegant surroundings. Excellent value and extraordinary menu. Our daughter was taken with the selection of non-alcoholic drinks and my wife's dark and mysterious cocktail had her making a note of the ingredients! We were guided through the novel menu by our splendid server. We went for the Gorgonzola cheese cake in a big way and my grilled smoked salmon was delicious. Try also the flatbread and seasoned potatoes. Excellent place.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved Gracies! Old HollywoodLoved Gracies! Old Hollywood style was lovely. Food, staff and whole experience was enjoyed. Prices reasonable, parking easy and I will be back.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMVery nice atmosphere, we hadVery nice atmosphere, we had Easter brunch. I had the eggs benedict and I am very particular about my eggs. They were cooked perfectly for me, very easy poached. The coffee was very good. The wait staff was friendly and efficient. We will be returning soon.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMNostalgic and sumptuous atmosphereA wonderful morning in a favorite place...we used to eat here when it was The Mallory. Food was great with good presentation. Our only complaint was the immediate coolness of the waitress as soon as she saw we had a living social coupon. Disappointing response. We'd still return to such a gorgeous place.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMPortland gemElegant room, quiet, new menu which is very vegetarian friendly and inventive. A triumph.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThe meals were well preparedThe meals were well prepared and attractively presented. The service was excellent. The prices quite reasonable. The bread pudding (made with butternut squash) was the best dessert I've tasted in years.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThe perfect evening! Our server Tarah was very nice and attentive. We tried about 6 different plates and while all were wonderful my favorites were the scallops and gorgonzolla cheesecake- fabulous!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful birthday dinner!I went for my birthday and wow was this exactly what it looked like online! So beautiful, gorgeous old Hollywood ambiance, perfect genre of music playing in the background to compliment the ambiance. We're both vegetarians and this place doesn't lack for veg options! We ordered five dishes that we shared. And all I can say is AMAZING! The food was just divine--absolutely no complaints! Our server placed each of our orders in perfect time so all of our food was appropriately hot and served with no sense of waiting. Just perfectly timed! Can't wait to go back again!! We highly recommend this Gracie's for a fancy or special occasion dinner!!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMTransported to a Gentler Time.First time at Gracie's and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Private and quiet -- one of the few spots in Portland to offer this type of atmosphere. I felt like I was transported back to a gentler time when you can linger over lunch. I had the cob salad which was quite good, but there were many other options that were equally appealing. I will be back and would recommend Gracie's especially for a special occasion or a romantic evening.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely Dining RoomLovely dining room, great service. The Beet Salad was great, the mushroom appetizers were too much money for the results, as were the potato fingers. The rest of the meal was very good. The all ala carte dinner menu was a surprise. They offered my daughter a free dessert for her birthday, but we were just too full. Very Nice all the way around.
I think I prefer Gracie's for brunch. My experience with them for a Sunday Brunch was just wonderful also.3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMI have never been disappointedI have never been disappointed at Gracie's. The total experience, food, service, ambiance, makes for a wonderful evening. I had the in-bone pork chop, done perfectly, and added a very tasty vegetable side. My wife enjoyed the delicious scallops. We shared a beet salad that was just right for two. By the way, if you order a martini with the house gin, New Amsterdam, it is delightful.3/10/2013 12:00:00 AMI love the old-school feelI love the old-school feel and excellent ambiance of this restaurant, and I thought the food I had was excellent (though I had come expecting a Christmas Day brunch buffet that did not seem to exist, the "bread pudding french toast" I had was just delicious). The only thing that marred the day was that I had to wait 15 minutes from seating to service due to a minor snafu. Otherwise, I would definitely come back again!12/25/2012 12:00:00 AM
