  • "beautiful patio, lovely inside, helpful service, a few minor issues related to getting food at the correct tables but they're new so that common. the waiter was terrific at identifying items that would be tasty for a meat eater, and the lemonade or limeade was delicious. having said that, i think this place is best for vegan's though, i don't plan to return"

  • "A restaurant with a charming, captivating POV! Everything lived up to the story on their website: laid-back, eclectic decor, an appetizing, original menu - true to its roots, gracious service and a spirited clientele. Our early arrival made for easy seating and the bonus of Happy Hour, but by the time we left there was not a table to be had. Reserve in advance or be lucky. One peculiarity is that despite their full liquor license spirits are limited to tequila and mescal. A delight!"

  • "Great is you eat only vegan. But a flan with no eggs and no milk tastes like a flan with no eggs and no milk. The veggie dishes were good, if a bit salty. The Pozole was quite good. Excellent staff. With vegan eating friends this is a excellent choice, but for Mexican food, there are better places of no vegan is required, that offer vegetarian options. "

  • "On arrival we were worried, by the crazily crowded bar and the huddle around the reservation desk, that it would be an hour before we were seated, but our Open Table reservation was honored immediately, as we were ushered to a table. The food is well spiced and innovative and the service was warm and efficient. "

The service we received this evening was amazing from the host to the waiter. It was a wonderful experience and I would definitely be back with more friends. If you go, you MUST ORDER the skinny jalapeno margarita."

  • "Dinner Sun. night. It's owned by the same folks as Cafe Gratitude, so similar vibe. The cocktails were excellent -- well thought out, good tequila, etc. The chips & salsa were also quite good. But after that, the food didn't feel very "Mexican." Don't get me wrong -- it was all very tasty, but I didn't feel like I was having Mexican food! We had some wonderful flash seared brussel sprouts. And my entree -- a flautus option -- was very good. Dessert was very so-so. But, vegan restaurants really have a tough time without any dairy or eggs to create ones like we expect. The apple tart w/ Coconut Vanilla "Ice Cream" was fine but the Chocolate "Ice Cream" was horrible...we sent it back! It's a lovely space with a great patio. Try it!"

  • "Overall amazing food… Im not vegan so the fact that there were no "fake meats" in the menu was fantastic. all dishes were very fresh and ingenious. ONLY thing were the drinks that came as dessert, when they came they were great, but we went thru all our food and then some before we got them. The service was great since they were on top of explaining why the drinks were not in the table yet and they scratched it out of the bill in the end… I can't wait to go again, I'm sure they will figure something out with the bar situation eventually… SIMP_LA"

The interior of the restaurant is beautifully done. The patio is a perfect California setting. I've been back multiple times and will continue to go."

  • "Gracia Madre is a beautiful location with sub par food and service. It took 25 minutes to get a cocktail, 35 to get the starter (a bowl of almonds). We shared several dishes starting with the gorditas (good) and fried cauliflower (not good.) As soon as we got the apps the entrees were set down overfilling the small the table. When the waiter resurfaced we told him that we had asked for the starter first then wanted our entrees,he just sweetly smiled and walked away. The tamales were a pile of thick tortillas dipped in mole sauce. No bueno. The sopas were okay. Mexcian wedding cookies with ice cream were good. I am glad I tried Gracias Madre but they gave me no reason to want to go back."

  • "I have been a vegan food fan for a number of years now. I was excited to hear there was a Mexican vegan food restaurant opening up in my neighborhood. I didn't know what to expect, and was delightfully surprised! Both the ambience and flavors were out of this world. I recommend "the Plato" for Mexican food lovers. You can really get a sampling of the different flavors of everything this restaurant has to offer. Loved the pesto, loved the mole mushrooms (and I'm not a fan of mushrooms), loved the squash, loved the pickled veggies, and the brown rice, black beans, and salsa were superb. A great option/alternative to Real Food Daily. (And I love RFD)."

  • "I tried the quesadillas de calabaza, the gorditas, the flautas, the pumpkin cake, and the pomelo. A friend split it all with me and we're both still dreaming about the food. Seems to me that no matter what you order you can't go wrong. I will be leaving LA soon, but you can bet I'll be back to eat at Gracias Madre again."

  • "As a carnivor, I wasn't sure what to expect from your food. I was pleasantly surprised when your food was flavorful with just the right amount of spiciness. Although, not quite the authentic flavors of Mexico the food was delicious. I do plan on returning to taste some other dishes as I wanted to try them all. My only complaint was the service. I was celebrating a friend's birthday and was a shame she did not get the attention I was hoping for. The server was not attentive, drinks took a while to arrive and it took a while for our server to take our food order. Dessert was just plopped on the table with a candle then he walked away...no bueno. Again, because of the food I will return."

  • "If all vegan food could be this good, I'd become vegan too! I'm an omnivore because its simply easier to find places to eat healthy if I don't limit my food rules. The flavors enjoyed at Gracias Madre tip the scale; why not simply eat great food? (and drink - their cocktail list rocks!) The potato gorditas were delicious; the enchiladas plate filled my stomach with the satisfaction I usually expect from a more elegant carnivorous dish! Actually too full of joy to bother with what looked like some exceptional deserts. Definitely going back, and soon!"

  • "Our food was well presented, and prepared with very high quality ingredients. However, it was clearly just vegan Mexican cuisine - and rather than inspiring with new, or unusual flavors, something to set it apart from the other sit-down Mexican restaurants, the chef seemed to rest its laurels a bit too heavily on the fact that the dishes were all prepared with organic, vegan versions of "the real deal". I was looking for something different, new, interesting - and instead we got hearty, decent fare with a moderate price tag. Certainly not bad, but nothing to write home about, and not really worth the 30 minute drive to WeHo from my 'hood. Very nice setting and ambiance, a good friendly vibe, and a great patio area on a warm evening."
