Diner Reviews
  • "Beautiful view with comfortable seating. The staff was helpful and not annoying. I had the scallops they were amazing and the crab cake and shrimp dumplings were very good. We were pleased all round and will definitely return."

  • "This restaurant was amazing, the manager tried to pick up the slack of our waiter....he seemed stressed. Our food was great, just wish it didnt take so long to get it."

  • "We've had many good meals at this establishment but on 4/11/14 the chef must have been elsewhere. Shrimp cocktail for $20 (4 very tiny shrimp), in the past you would receive 3 to 4 amazingly large shrimp. Ordered seafood special of 1/2 lobster, clams & shrimp sauteed in blah, blah, blah. The lobster was still in the shell, claw not even cracked and the dish was smothered in tomato sauce (definitely not sauteed). How can you sautee a lobster claw completely in the shell anyway. By the way, didn't even receive a shell cracking tool towork with. Apple cobbler with icecream. . .cobbler was colder than the icecream. Really bad dinner for two at over $225.00. Wine was good but they didn't have to prepare that."

  • "Décor is terrific and charming, The service was excellent, friendly and attentive. Food was very good. However menu is a la carte and very expensive. Not conducive to frequent visits"

  • "Food was exceptionally good, as was the service. The setting was beautiful and romantic. I would recommend this restaurant highly."

  • "This is the second time we've been to this restaurant and they can't seem to get our order correct. Veal was ordered and steak came out. Food didn't taste bad but not what we ordered- they also rushed 2 courses that came out at the same time as the entree- there wasn't enough room at the table to hold everything. Probably won't return- Last time they ran out of the special at 7pm on a Saturday night. They gave half of those at the table the special- and didn't tell the others that they ran out of it until we asked where the rest of the dinners were ???"

  • "My wife's steak was supposed to be cooked to medium but came out well done. Needless to say that ruin a perfect meal to that point. To give the owners credit they offer to cook it again but wife did not what to eat her food after the rest of the table was done."

  • "The ambience was just right for a weekday dinner. We were out to celebrate after a school function and we all loved our food and the service we received."

  • "This was our first time at Graceful Rose, and we will probably be back. The service was attentive without being obtrusive. The atmosphere is serene and classy. The drawback is that the restaurant is located on the second floor, with no elevator service. And although it's close to the harbor, you can really only see the parking lot of the marina, but the food was good enough to make us try it again."

  • "I spent Friday night in Graceful Rose with my 4 girlfriends on March 7, 2014. It was our first visit there. We all were more that satisfied with this experience. Convenient location, big parking lot pleased us even before entering the building. Our waiter Jimmy was very polite and well-informed of the meals and vines in the menu, as well as the other staff. We all ordered different meals and everything was delicious. We all are look forward to dining there again."

  • "I went here on a Friday night with 7 others. Parking was a bit confusing. Apparently the lot next to the restaurant I parked in was not part of the restaurant. Oh well. Met my friends at the bar, which was bustling but lovely - drinks were reasonably priced and the bartender was very friendly. When we all arrived, we took our seats. The ambience of the place is really great and we all loved the huge amethyst geodes. We all got the prix fixe menu. Good size portions, really good food, really good price. We were not sure what to expect with this place, but all 8 of us enjoyed it and decided we would definitely come back."

  • "Great food and service. Best part is the ambience. My new favorite place!"

  • "Three ladies out Saturday night, we chose many appetizers to mix. Two had the short ribs which was so mouthwatering delicious, just melted in your mouth. Accompanied by a classic Caesar salad except with a twist. Served as Romaine lettuce stalk was slightly grilled (loved that!) which gave great flavor with the classic creamy Caesar dressing. The iceberg salad just as good with tomato, bacon and crumbled bleu cheese dressing. The calamari appetizer was fantastic! Cooked to golden perfection and the pineapples/Thai sauce was "plate scraping" good! Could not stop eating the table bread as my favorite is the rosemary roll. A wonderful evening. One wish is the live music be toned down slightly so dinner conversation can be heard better"

  • "When you first enter you get a sense of an elegant, yet warm and intimate setting. We were seated so my date and I had a view of both the water and the stunning angel wings on either side of us. We were then welcomed by a charming gentlemen named Jimmy. Although my wine knowledge does not match up with the depth of their list, Jimmy walked me through it and made me feel as if it was second nature. His suggested wine wowed both me and my date. We ended up going with the Porter for 2. The presentation was matched only by the taste! Cooked perfectly, our chosen side dishes of cream corn and spinach paired amazingly. We then got lost in the cheesecake, which is a must try! Needless to say, GR is a top notch spot in Port Jeff and we will return!"

  • "Unfortunately, I will never go back to this restaurant. My wife and I were served 'well done' steaks after we asked for 'medium.' They took our entrees back and we waited 20 minutes for our food to be cooked again. After it came back out it was still cooked too much and we were not comped anything. We left the place very frustrated and will never go back."

  • "Celebrated with an early Sat. dinner. It was pretty empty, but had filled up 2 hours later. A prix-fixe had nice choices not usually offered on such, so we splurged on 3 dinners and took the rest home to our hubbies. Food was yum. Lobster bisque, crab cake app; a HUGE,delicious short rib entree and a more modest sea scallop dish with a sauce that tasted a tad like the bisque. Desserts were a standout. Service was impeccable. Our server was a complete professional who treated 2 women on a budget, with a gift certificate, drinking water, exactly the same as the folks next to us who were downing martinis and a bottle of wine. You CAN break the bank here, and if that's what you're used to,you may not think it's as good as we did. Neg=it got loud."

  • "Good view out of big windows, great food, and wonderful service, what fine dining should be, and time isn’t an issue. Very pricey, lacks vegan/ vegetarian options, however; an ideal place for that very special date night where money isn’t an issue."

  • "My partner and I had a fantastic post St. Valentine's Day supper served by professionally warm and attentive staff, from the time we walked in to when we left. The food was prepared to perfection and everything nicely balanced, Though it was cold and snowy outside, inside was warm, cozy and romantic!"

  • "We were here on Valentines evening. The food was to die for. Had the salad with the fried goat cheese, yummy. The scallops and the short ribs were also delicious. As usual the ambience was wonderful. There was a harpist playing, who made the evening even more romantic. This is one of our favorite restaurants on Long Island.-+"

  • "In the restaurant, the decorations are heavy and the ambience tends to be weird, but the view over the marina is romantic and so it is the attention to details. It is cozy and pleasant restaurant with good food and extra welcoming service. It is a good addition to the bunch of restaurants in the Port Jefferson/Stony Brook area. It is expensive."

  • "We had an amazing dining experience. We tried this restaurant for Valentine's Day. I likes that I was able to make reservations, instead of having to wait for a table. The atmosphere was relaxed and romantic and the service was wonderful. I especially enjoyed the attention to every detail. It is now our favorite place to celebrate special occasions."

  • "First of all I loved the decor. The table next to us was loud and discussing family matters and medical conditions that made it unable to talk or enjoy the meal. The lobster I ordered was too spicy, menu said roasted red peppers which I love, but was actually jalapeño peppers. Lobster bisque was to die for. After cracking the lobster claws for my date and I my hands were dirty, and so was my napkin. Yet waitress offered no help."

  • "Everything that touched the table from drinks to apps to entrees was superb. Bar was pretty and drinks were strong and tasty. Service was impeccable. Crab cake app, salads, salmon, and filet mignon arguably best we ever ate. Ask for window seat to see Port Jeff harbor. Will definitely revisit."

  • "I loved my dish, and there was plenty of it. The service was right on; friendly and efficient. We were celebrating two birthdays, they allowed us to bring our own cake, and they served it for us. They also provided a bouquet of roses for each birthday guest. A lovely touch. The ambience was nice, a little loud though. The entire restaurant is festive and a bit ornate, but I liked it. About as pricey as any upscale eating establishment."

  • "The Steaks were outstanding and the sides were terrific. Definitely will give the other steak houses in the area a run for their money. The only issue we had the tables were sticky. We were told that is was the material of the table. After dinner we went to the bar to enjoy after dinner drink and the live music. Overall a great Saturday night."

  • "The ambience is nice and presents an upscale family atmosphere with an ode to grandma Rose. Food is creatively presented and very tasty. Thai Calamari is a must app. Wine list could be better and service was good as even the owners and managers work the restaurant. You won't be disappointed. App entree and dessert will run about $60 ok without wine. Bon appetit."

  • "This was the second time my husband and I have been to Graceful Rose. If anything the food was even better this time. One thing that stood out - we both like hot soup to be hot and so manmy restaurants serve it at room temperature. Points and high praise to Graceful Rose....the soup was piping hot! Wonderful! The same can be said for the hot water for tea. An extra nice touch on Christmas eve was the presence of a live singer. Really added something special for that night. A nice touch from the restaurant. A big however is that the restaurant is on the second floor of an old building and there is no elevator. So, those of you with mobility problems will either not be able to go or will have problems climbing a lot of stairs."

  • "Recently went to the Graceful Rose in Port Jefferson for a Christmas Family dinner. The service was amazing!! Above and beyond. We never felt neglected at any time, but neither did we feel overpowered. Everyone from the wait staff, your management, and your chef deserve the highest compliments. Your food is fantastic! The quality superior. We had a wide sampling of dishes from your to die for broccoli rabe and spicy sausage egg rolls, buffalo mozzerrella and wild mushroom and shrimp dumplings to your short ribs raviolis that melted in your mouth! My highest compliments to your chef! I would definately recommend your restaurant to all my friends & family - Not a thing was wrong. Merry Christmas Graceful Rose!"

  • "The Graceful Rose is a wonderful place to dine. And talk about a beautiful setting, the decor is beautiful and the water view is visible from all dining room tables as well as the bar. We selected items from both the regular menu and the prix fixe menu ($29.95 - 3 courses) and enjoyed them immensely. Of particular note were the Lobster Bisque, Thai Calamari, Tenderloin and Scallops w/Lobster Sauce. Staff and service were spot on...definitely worth a visit from anywhere on Long Island."

  • "Personally the food was over-seasoned and the environment was very cavernous. Not a very intimate spot for a quite dinner. The location is nice, overlooking the working Port Jefferson Harbor parking lot and boat ramp, if you like that sort of thing."
