goosefootExceeded our ExpectationsI can't say enough about Goosefoot - from the presentation of the food, to the quality and detail of each dish, to the friendlness of the staff.....my favorite part was meeting the owners; Chris Nugent (owner and chef) and his wife chat with each table at the end of the night with a comfort level that make you feel like you've been neighbors for years. To eat such a fine meal without pretense and attitude made for one of the best evenings we've experienced. We started at 9pm and left after 12:30 and that was our second favorite part. A lovely, slow, dinner is so rare these days. There was no pressure to hurry; no pressure to leave. Chris creates a 9+ course tasting menu which is rarely matched in flavor and presentation. Nina and her staff thoughtfully see to your comfort in the front of the house, while Chris and his team prepare you an amazing dining experience. We congratulate them on their decision to be and remain BYOB. We am not wealthy, yet we enjoy fine dining and we’ve found it sad that we often spend as much on forgettable wines as we do on our meal. At Goosefoot we can bring our own wines, which may not pair up with each course according to an expert sommelier, but at the end of the evening, we are happy with the wines we chose and the remarkable diner we were served. Isn't that really what it is all about? Although it took me quite awhile to find an open reservation through Open Table, I found one for 5:30pm on a Weds. Not typical dinner time but considering we were there til 8pm, the timing was excellent. My fiance and I were celebrating our recent engagement. Nina (Chef Nugent's wife), greeted us at the door and congratulated and sat us down. So friendly and in my opinion, I love seeing husband and wife supporting each other. Kudos for that! Went through 11 courses, each one only got better and better. Goosefoot is an experience everyone should try. The BYO option is just another plus for me. If you are not familiar with the restaurant, it is in a storefront in a partially vacant strip mall (not as bad as it sounds) - an unusual place for a fine dining restaurant. The interior is minimalist decor, and that, paired with the BYOB, ultimately allows them to focus on the food.
The solel negative is pacing. We had 9 courses, and after the 2nd, we had a 40 minute delay. Also, if you don't like combining your food, you will miss the chef's vision. Goosefoot is all about the food and the food is perfection. The owner came to our table and asked us how our meal was going which was very nice. My only suggestion is that the dining time of 3 hours is too long. There was quite a bit of wait time in between courses which doesn't suit my dining style as I don't like that much down time.
