Goose & GanderReview.Server was great. The food was incredible. Great wine list. Very enjoyable fine dining experience.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMHad an excellent meal at aHad an excellent meal at a reasonable price, have already recommended friends go here.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious! We were recommended to go to Goose & Gander by everyone we know who had been to Napa Valley before. It did not disappoint! I tried the bone marrow - it was my first experience and it was amazing! The service was great as well, and it's an affordable option for great food.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMHats off to a Great Mothers Day!Very pleased with the outdoor guitar player, great Brunch and overall lovely experience!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMA wonderful restaurantWe went on Mother's Day. As crowded as it was, the pace of the food was great. The quality of the food was superb and the wine list had something for everyone.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMA NEW ADDITION TO MY MUST SEE LISTThe night before mother's day, my wife, 10 year old daughter, 7 year old son and I visited Goose & Gander. Great decision. My wife had the burger with marrow. My daughter had the swordfish and my son had the children's burger. We started with the olives (my daughter loves fried olives), gorgonzola filled dates and salad topped with two fried oysters. The olives seemed endless. The dates,4, were perfect. My favorite was the salad. The show stopper was the oysters. Perfectly crisp on outside, but moist inside. It was like have the best of a fried oysters and half-shell together. Burgers were best ever! Definitely opt for the marrow. I had the flank steak, incredibly tender and perfectly good. Swordfish was perfect. We will be back!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWOW drinks and awesome food!My daughter and I really enjoyed Goose and Gander for a Saturday night Mother's Day celebration. The entire evening was practically perfect. The only glitch was the bartendress. I'm pretty sure smiling is not an emotion of her personality. Later in the evening I mentioned this to the manager who was very receptive. The bartendress was our first impression and she needs to work on it. Just as we were leaving the bar to go to our table she warmed up. After that, everything else was spectacular!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous food!Wow! The food here was outstanding. We came for a light lunch and did the cheese and charcuterie plate, mushroom soup, scallops, and had a side of duck fat fries. Everything was absolutely delicious and I can't wake to go back and try more on the menu. I wouldn't recommend the charcuterie - the portion size was not worth the price. The restaurant was also very dark, which lowered the quality of the experience. But the food and wonderful service provided by Lauren outshined the dingy setting.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMDon't overlook Goose and GanderThis was the highlight of our trip to Napa! Great ambiance, food, and drinks. Be sure to try something unique from the bar.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMAn experienceWe had an amazing dining experience. Thomas the waiter helped to make that happen. The food is fantastic. The atmosphere is lovely. We ate inside but there's a gorgeous outdoor dining area as well. It helps a ton when the wait staff is knowledgeable not only about food but wine as well. We didn't just have a good meal. It was an experience. Our last night in Napa on a family reunion. We couldn't have closed it off any better. Thank you Goose & Gander for your excellent service, food, and wine.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely gardenOur waiter was delightful and very knowledgeable about the wine list. I had the lamb wrap which was very good and my friend had the braised pork, equally as good. Would definitely return. I don't give it a 5 star only because the drinks took a long time to arrive and the hostess seated a large, noisy, demanding party of 8 right next to us when there was hardly anyone else in the garden. We ultimately changed our table.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMBest hamburger in napa valley.Best hamburger in napa valley. OMG, add the marrow and wow!4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful Napa dining. Waiter was completely service oriented and catered to our seven year old grandauughter as if she were a queen. Made her feel very special. Food delightful, garden beautiful, just a perfect spot with well prepared seasonal bounty.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMVisited Goose & Gander atVisited Goose & Gander at my husband's request--he's been ogling their bar program from afar for quite a while so a trip to wine country finally provided an opportunity to visit.
The food was good--we had the pate, which was unbelievably good, and the burger (delicious but a gut bomb, too rich for a person to comfortable finish at one sitting), and the gnocchi (good, but not amazing).
The cocktails we had were fantastic, well balanced, interesting, and worth going back for.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWe kicked off a day in NapaWe kicked off a day in Napa with lunch at Goose & Gander. The food and service were both incredible. In addition to a great menu and wine list, Goose & Gander stands out for its impressive list of unique, delicious cocktails. I can't wait to go back!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding food. PerfectlyOutstanding food. Perfectly prepared and presented. The service was spot on. Fun evening. Thanks4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWent here twice during a recentWent here twice during a recent visit to Napa Valley. On the first night, a friend wanted to go there for his birthday dinner and it was outstanding. The wine recommendation was spot on and the food was outstanding. We decided to also go for our last night because we knew we'd have a great meal (and we did).4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMDon't overlook this discovery.....We discovered this little gem just off Main Street. Nice menu made selection difficult, so many options. Charming house that is wide open, beautiful outdoor dining and garden. Charming and historic character made it feel like eating at home. Would definitely make this a regular favorite.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWe really enjoyed our firstWe really enjoyed our first visit! We started with an order of smoked corn croquettes, which were delicious. The cream of mushroom soup was rich, and one of the best we have ever had. The sides of sauteed spinach and Yucon Gold potato puree were fantastic. The grilled flat iron steak entree was flavorful, but a bit chewy for my taste.
The drinks are fantastic! Scott Beattie is downstairs behind the bar making beautiful cocktails. Ice cubes are large, perfectly clear, and hand chiseled. The basement bar's atmosphere is perfect for meeting new people and drinking fine whiskies.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMwas really a special evening.......was really a special evening.......decided to eat in the bar. The server (Scott) was terrific (very knowledgeable)really felt like I had a real "dining experience", which wasn't really what I was looking for. It was my daughters 21st Birthday, she requested dining at Goose and Gander and the server made it an additionally special evening. The drinks, food, desert........highly recommend!4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMCan't wait to eat at G&G whenCan't wait to eat at G&G when the weather is fine and we can sit outdoors.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMHad not been there since itHad not been there since it was the Martini House. Still great ambiance. Ate outside as it was a gorgeous day and patio area was very pleasant. Servers friendly and very accommodating. Food delicious especially the fried olives!!!3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMAll the cocktails are great. All the cocktails are great. The scallop appetizer is the best I’ve ever had! Everyone was happy with their main dish. The salmon and flank steak were the table favorites but everything was great. If you’re looking for a place to eat or have a creative cocktail in St Helena this is a great choice. We’ll be back soon!3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMNice & RelaxingAnother outstanding dining experience. Nice and relaxing, with a lovely romantic vibe. Our server was relaxed, yet being very attentive. Food was extremely flavorful. We will definately make this one of our finds.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGREAT ambiance, dark and comfortablGREAT ambiance, dark and comfortable, lots of wood in upper level, great 'rathskeller' like lower level with bar and some dining, stone and wood.
Food was really good, well prepared and presented.
Service was ok, about average for most decent dining venues.
Menu a bit limited, but all good , check out the website for menu prior to your visit, your favorite(s) may be missing.
Wine pricing out of line, one of those 2-3-4 times retail places, just not what I plan on in the middle of wine country. After all, we are here for the wine and lifestyle, if the restaurants insist on pricing as they do, it becomes a negative.
Good spot, not for everyone,
I plan to make an afternoon visit , to the bar level, for drinks and snacks ..... so I s3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMWe started in the bar. I lovedWe started in the bar. I loved the Moscow Mule and my husband had the Mahattan with the one large ice cube! Our drinks were made by the well-known, Scott Beattie. This opportunity should not be missed! We then had dinner upstairs which was excellent!3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful ambiance, fun andWonderful ambiance, fun and fabulous food. Don't miss the cream of mushroom soup.
