Diner Reviews
  • "We went for my birthday! I honestly can say we had a great experience! The service was great and there wine list was very extensive. Lots of great local wines! The food was amazing and the cocktails were beautiful and delicious! I loved the halibut ceviche and the scallop appetizer! The server knew the menu very well. He recommended the peanut butter cup desert, and we all LOVED it! Awesome!"

  • "The restaurant has nice ambiance and is tucked away off the main road. The bar is on the lower floor and definitely seemed like the place the be. We enjoyed the attentiveness of the service but the food left a lot to be desired. My friends did not enjoy the chicken wings here, they just did not seem very crisp like you would expect wings to. My burger was...lets say terrible. I can appreciate a juicy burger but this one was drowning in juices. The bun was soaked and falling apart and juices kept dripping on the plate. So much that by the end of the meal my plate should've been declared a flood zone. I may go back, but not for the burger. Maybe I'll try something else next time as others seemed to be enjoying their food."

  • "Took a night off from haute dining in Napa at Goose and Gander and were so happy! Food and service were wonderful. Casual atmosphere but food is terrific! Highly recommend."

  • "Loved this place! Wonderful and unusual drinks . Appetizers were perfectly sized . Menu offers a nice variety of dishes from a massive burger to lighter-than-air gnocchi to perfectly prepared fish and meat dishes. The rhubarb crisp for dessert was truly a treat! Our waiter, David, offered suggestions for each course in such a pleasant, friendly manner - and each choice was spot on! We cannot wait to return!"

  • "We ate here on our first night and Napa and it was spectacular. The service was great and the food was beyond delicious. We had the sturgeon and the corn croquettes and they were out of this world. Wine list was pretty good too, will definitely return next time were in the area."

  • "The G&G burger is the best burger ever!!!! Super juicy and delicious!!!"

  • "The menu is diverse and the offering were executed great! We had quite a sampling of small dishes that were all good but the Seared Scallops were incredible. We were also happy with the Corn Croquettes and the Chili Wings. One member of our party had the G&G Burger served with cowboy butter (marrow) and duck fat fries and he loved it. The wild and tame mushroom soup was very, very good. We split a chicken wrap special with greens that had a special sauce that distinguished itself from the normal wrap. The wine choices are worthy of St. Helena!"

  • "Had the flat iron steak and it was wonderful. Had a great seat by the kitchen and saw a ton of burgers flying out and cant wait to go back and try one. Excellent Service"

  • "This is a place for fun, great food and energetic buzz. The food was great. Service was personable and friendly."

  • "You only get the meatless wings and not the drumet's. Pretty cheap. Potatoe chips should not come with a great civeche. The clams were really small and some shells were empty. Loved the mushroom side dish. Took 20 minutes to receive our drinks."

  • "We read about this restaurant, including reviews, and chose it for one of our travel party member's birthday celebration. A call was made in advance for a special dessert. The waiter was detached at first, and the food quality varied from good to poor, depending on the selection (the pork chop was more fat than meat). At the end, it was apparent the birthday arrangements were never communicated. Overall average experience. We did call the owner after, who offered to have us back, but we had limited time in the area. He was appropriately apologetic."

  • "The place looks great, dark wood, big booths, great vibe. The attention by Victor (Somm/manager) and Lauren was attentive, professional and comfortable. The let down was the food. The sturgeon was overcooked, a lot, our flat irons were under seasoned. The charcuterie was good, as were the gorgonzola stuffed date and duck fat fries. The 3 of us are all pro-diners: 1 restaurant manager, 1 former chef/restaurateur, another a big entertainer."

  • "I made the mistake of eating at G & G in the 1st month they opened, and it was a terrible experience. Decide to give them another chance after reading all the nice reviews, and I'm glad I did. Our meal was just delicious, from start to finish everything was well prepared, great flavor combinations that really work. Service was spot on. I am not a friend of the dark woody deco, but I won't hold it against them. Glad I gave them a second chance and will definitely return. PS - Have dessert, the pastry chef really knows her stuff."

  • "• The service was good. • The menu was a disappointment, very strange and a lot of peanuts on the menu (wasn't mentioned as allergy but hard for Kathy) • They were hoping for something more upscale and it felt more pub like. • They were seated downstairs first and table was unsteady, chairs were crooked, unpleasant .and uncomfortable enough that they moved up to a booth"

  • "We were looking for something that was moderately priced to finish a day of wine tasting. What we found was moderately priced but exceptional in food quality and service. Our waiter accommodated a couple of shifts from the menu. One of our party had octopus, which was tender and outstanding. I had the pork chop--excellent and another in our party had the scallop appetizer which was very good."

  • "Try to portobello skewers. The sauce is amazing! The portion of the smoked trout salad was huge and also very tasty. Although the gnocchi was delicious perhaps a little too rich for lunch. Overall an A+ experience."

  • "Food, service and experience is always consistent. I love this restaurant!"

  • "This restaurant is fantastic. The food and service are some of the best in Napa Valley. Only suggestion would be a wider selection on the wine list. Refreshingly original menu."

  • "My friend and I at there for Lunch. My Sturgeon was cooked perfectly and came to the table HOT!! My friend had a Pork chop and it was good as well. However, their wait staff still needs help!! The guy that waited on us brought the bottle of wine I ordered after we were half way through our meals!! Plus I asked if they had Seagrams GIN and he YES but I got Beefeaters, I just let it go. He did not tell me that it was not Seagrams but I know the difference, that was disappointing!! But all in all we will go back because the food was fabulous!!! If they can work on their service staff they will be fantastic!!!!!"

  • "While Chef Kelly can throw down with the best of them....you gotta get the burger at least once...with the melted bone marrow; you will never have a better burger anywhere, oh and the duck fat fries...I dropped my Paleo routine that day and it was worth very burp."

  • "This has become my go-to place in Napa. It has a local, non-touristy feel, tasty food, friendly service, and a great bar. That pretty much checks all the boxes on my list."

  • "THE BEST BURGER and OMG the duck fat fries....YUM!"

  • "Love, love, love the burger especially with bone marrow melted over it! Crispy olives with spicy pistachios are great! Desserts were spectacular!"
    Dined on 2/17/2014
  • "The burger with marrow on top is outstanding! If they offer mushrooms as a side though I think you could pass... the burger stands well enough on it's own and doesn't need them (also they are $6 extra for just a side) Cocktails were very nice, well mixed. Atmosphere was great as well"

  • "We knew the owner which was very apparent. Our waiter was ambivalent at best-could have sold us more stuff to drink if he had asked. I noticed he did that at other tables. We were critical that some of the foods on the web menu were not available-that may have bugged our waiter after he explained why."

  • "The food was great, a wonderful salad and the best burger we've ever eaten! It was cooked to perfection and spiced just right. I seemed to have tasted it long after we were gone. The table by the fireplace was romantic and perfect for our special Valentines luncheon. The service was very good, friendly and helpful but respectful of our privacy. We have not been to this establishment since we had our wedding dinner here 24 years ago, an intimate gathering in the courtyard after our marriage at White Sulphur Springs Resort. This is a special place for us and although it has a different name and look now we loved the experience and look forward to our return, perhaps on our 25th anniversary. Thank you for a memorable experience."

  • "I remember this location when it was the Martini House and decided to celebrate Valentines day while trying out a new experience. Every aspect of the dining experience was perfect. From our server, to the chef's incredible food to the cocktails. We'll be coming back often to try everything on the menu."

  • "G&G was the #1 Napa Region VD Recommendation of our concierce'. The chicken sandwich, crispy olives & pistachios, trout salad were unforgettable. Dessert was less memorable. The atmosphere was a casual McCormick & Schmidt's. Restorante' Allegria was Recommendation #2. Agreed."

  • "The food is very good and nicely served. We had the Valentine Menu. Smaller servings but nice choices. Quantity was filling. Very tasty. The room was so noisy due to nothing but hard surfaces. We had to almost shout to hear. This spoiled the entire experience. There is a bar downstairs that appeared to be more quiet. I had to ask for more ice tea which at these prices should not be a requirement."

  • "Arrived early went down to bar and had $1.00 oysters and a couple of cocktails. Adam was the bartender and he was friendly and very good, We were starting to fill up so we shared our dinner; it was the burger with bone marrow. Amazing rich flavor and the french fries were delicious. Try this place your won't be disappointed!"

  • "there was a party of 25 men that made hearing the person you were with nearly impossible. bad idea for a place as small as G&G to take parties of that size"

  • "needs better yield/reservation management! I had an Open Table res, but waited 80-90 min past my reservation to be seated and place an order. The host placed us in the bar & advised the bartender they had a 15 min delay. The bartender was attentive to our first drink order, but after that, we couldn't get anyone's attention to order another. Once a table was ready, we sat another 15 min before the server stopped to take our drink & appetizer order. We expressed extreme dissatisfaction & apps came quickly. The mushroom soup was very good. Salad was great. The pork chop entrée was THE best I have ever had, which combined with ambiance, saved this restaurant for a second try in my book. Hopefully just a one-time poor management of reservations."

  • "We got a number of recommendations from locals and decided to try this place on a recent visit. We were not disappointed! Everything was top notch. I ordered the figs and Gorgonzola, the mushroom soup, and the (2) seared scallops, which was plenty for dinner. My husband had the soup and the salmon entree which he said was excellent. Our waiter, Thomas, was wonderful and very helpful both with the wine selection and the menu items. The soup was the best I have ever had and I would LOVE to have the recipe! The general atmosphere was much more relaxed and conducive to a nice meal than other area restaurants where we ate this trip. We will definitely be back!"
