Diner Reviews
  • "This restaurant has been in this spot for a long time, and it keeps getting better and better. With an interesting menu and often locally sourced food, it provides a delicious meal wonderful for vegetarians, carnivores and all in between. The only reason for 4 stars rather than 5? Their meat and poultry is locally sourced and natural without antibiotics, but not grass-fed and guaranteed free-range and pasture raised. That is becoming more and more an essential for me and other local diners. Add a resourcing of meats to free-range and 100-grass-fed beef and GOOD will, in my book become a strong contender for best restaurant in the area."

  • "We enjoyed Good on an un-crowded Saturday night with friends for dinner. Everyone enjoyed the food and it was a great spot for people watching on Greenwich Ave thanks to their cafe seating."

  • "The food was bland. Did the chef not taste any of the food coming out of the kitchen? I got the green chili Mac and Cheese and you'd think if it was green chillies, that it would have ANY spices or flavor or anything. I had to send it back for the the salmon special of the night. Maybe that's the issue, they make the regular menu not so well so you are forced to order the specials of the night. The "marinated" olives appetizer was just as bland. HOW do you remove flavor from olives? The food was absolutely and atrociously bad. I didn't want to try the dessert and instead opted for Rocco's on Bleecker to salvage anything of the night. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone with a palate or who likes well-seasoned food."

  • "One of our go-to neighborhood standbys. Always pleasant, quiet and comfortable. Our special spinach and chicken soup was delicious. The salmon special was also very good and attractively plated. However medium rare burgers were beyond well-done, on the way to burnt. I'm sure they would have gladly cooked new burgers but we were hungry and it was getting late so we finished them. Until now we have had good meals there so I'll probably give them another try at some point"

  • "Love this restaurant, quietly elegant, wonderful menu, and I can't emphasize enough---quiet enough to have a conversation with your companions (this has become a rarity in New York)."

  • "Brunch was wonderful. My daughter got the special for the day, red velvet pancakes, which was fun and yummy. All the food was great inlcuding the cocktails."

  • "We went on a summer Sunday for brunch. Grandma, hubby, kids. The restaurant stressed their seating policy, that they only seat completed parties. My mother was late and the restaurant was about a quarter full, so they sat us after a bit. I appreciate when folks are not needlessly rigid. Once we were seated both the service and the food were pretty good. The bread basket was yummy. I had the BLTM and it was good. The pork belly hash and eggs was good, not great, as I'd heard. Oh, and I had a blood orange mimosa that I wished I could've followed with a few more, but I was driving. Womp womp. I'll definitely go back."

  • "Great brunch. Food was very tasty. Service was amazing. Constantly coming around to fill water glasses and coffee cups."

  • "The calamari appetizer was really good and al dente. The soft-shell crab special was only so-so -- a little bland. We had a nice table and the wait staff was just right. I would recommend it in a pinch."

  • "Had brunch on a Sunday afternoon with a few friends and we couldn't have been happier. The service was impeccable, the waiters and host were very nice and always asking if everything was to our liking and if we needed anything else. The atmosphere was very friendly and above all the food was amazing! I never tasted better food than at this restaurant. It is definitely one of the best Brunches I ever had and will definitely becoming again. The Breaksfast Burrito and Home Fries are definitely recommended!!"

  • "I had heard that the food is tasty at Good Restaurant and I was not disappointed. The dinner menu is varied and interesting and I had trouble choosing among all of the items I liked. We started with an avocado/pea mixture on sour bread toast and it was fantastic. Next, we ordered a watermelon salad which was just what you want it to be... fresh, crisp, lightly seasoned, delicious. The marinated pork roast I chose as my entree was wonderful. It was moist, nicely seasoned, perfect. And the service was professional and friendly. In all, a great experience!"

  • "Been here many times to happy hour and for meals. They never seem to recognize us butchery are friendly enough anyway. Brought a party of four this time for dinner. Food was excellent and seasonal. Wine and cocktail list interesting and moderately priced. Service good. "

  • "If you don't know what "ROC" stands for, you should. As far as I can tell, the restaurant continues to honor one of Roc's most important principles regarding the visibility of its diverse waitstaff, and that is a big reason why I continue to patronize it--along with the food and service. It looks like New York. "

  • "The food was all wonderful as were drinks, everything sounded and looked great. Ingredients all fresh! Host was not welcoming even though we were 10 mins early for reservation and it wasn't even busy. Waiter was mia in a small space but the bussers were really sweet and helpful and always friendly.Would still reccomend, bit on the pricey side for lack of service bit food quality and creativity helped."

  • "Put simply, Good Restaurant is excellent. Food, wine, service, ambiance and location are all excellent. The only issue was noise level. We found this not unusual for the U.S. though. Having said that, it was a busy night and the place was full on a very rainy night. A great indication of this restaurant's reputation."

  • "Good it is..the food, the service..just so friendly and professional. The bar is small but what a great small bar..the bartender is a good one with and good pouring arm! Knows his stuff...truly a neighborhood gem and now that I have rediscovered it I will make it my business to patronize it more frequently...I dont want this 'gem' to disappear like so many others. The chef is the owner so I know he will not be going any where nor should he...I recommend "Good' for everyone and any occassion. "

  • "I've eaten at Good for about 10 years, the food is always consistent, but seems to get even better with the years. Clever combinations of ingredients abound but never get too clever, as in, "I was excited until that last item on the list." Recently there, my friend commented that Good feels like the Village "used to" feel, which he missed. I agree on both counts. Another way it's like the "old Village" is seeing the same staff year in and year out, they're very good at what they do and very friendly about it too. Brunch is a mob scene, but weekday lunch is surprisingly quiet. The small bar area is a great place to have a nightcap with a friend when you're reluctant to part for the evening."

  • "We started coming here for Brunch on the weekends but slowly added dinners as well so Good is now a staple in our complete neighborhood dining repertoire. The Sunday special is an incredible deal and the food is always great. Brendan and the staff are always friendly and accommodating. Many of the servers have been there for years which is a testament to the environment the owner, Steven, has created."

  • "They were very nice about turning the music down but with food this good and a room this pleasant, what clientele might Good think it's missing out on by not having the music loud enough? Service standards have gone so low that one doesn't complain about such things as bus boys reaching over you to reach glasses they could easily reach from approaching the table from the other side or the loud clatter of glasses and dishes being cleared from the table but again, when you're eating such good food in such pleasant surroundings, you can't help but feel a but of a disconnect. The Willamette Valley Pinot Noir was excellent and a steal at half price (half-priced bottles Sundays 6-10 pm). Will definitely go back."

  • "wasn't really impressed. it was good but not great. guess that's why they call it good."
    Dined on 4/20/2014
  • "We had a decent meal, but nothing here really impressed. Most dishes were well-prepared, but very simple, perhaps even plain. Then there was the turkey scallopini... which was literally just a slab of fried turkey on a plate. Your Italian grandma would do a better job on presentation and flavor... feeding her dog. This is a decent place to take your un-adventurous, picky-eater grandma. But if you're looking for modern, creative food, keep looking. I will say the ambiance and service are nice."

  • "Really nice food and cocktails. Great service, quick food to table. We enjoyed the 3 course. The desserts left a lot to be desired, however. "

  • "I highly recommend Good Restaurant. I recently had dinner there with four of my friends, and we all really enjoyed it. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Two of my friends were running late, but we were still allowed to sit down at our table and order drinks, which I feel is pretty unheard of at nice NYC restaurants. I would definitely eat there again and plan on going for brunch soon because another friend told me it was great."

  • "This is the second time that I've been to Good, and service was great...and the food good. Although the first time, I was able to get enjoy the great deal of the prix fixe before 7pm."

  • "My favorite brunch spot. Make a reservation if you want to avoid a long wait. I've liked everything I've ordered at Good, but usually find myself gravitating to the lemon ricotta pancakes or vanilla buttermilk pancakes. The Good breakfast that includes a cocktail is also a favorite."

  • "Always satisfies. Good has been around for a while, format/menu stay pretty much the same, but the food it seems gets even better. Service is friendly, timely but not rushed. Great to have in the neighborhood."

  • "The restaurant was not busy when we ate there but it should have been. Our waiter, Omar, was everything one could hope for from a service provider and the food was fresh, plentiful, and priced right. Definitely worth going to."

  • "The hostess that we worked with prior to our party's arrival was great and very informative. The food was excellent; brunch & dessert The whole experience felt great until we met our waiter who was the only tarnish on our experience. He had a personality that was not fit for the service industry. He was short, did not want to answer questions and always in a rush which created a feeling of discomfort. He disregarded special arrangements made in advance for the birthday that we were celebrating. There was no clear process for clearing the table as we transitioned between dishes; you felt like you were eating on top of yourself or had to clear the table on your own. Portions of our order were forgotten or special request were not addressed."

  • "I have been to Good for brunch quite a few times to delight of many a friend. Tried it for dinner and it didn't disappoint in the slightest. The waiter answered our questions, made great suggestions and helped select a wine that we hope to find to have on hand at all times. Love and will recommend Good!"

  • "I have been to good for their Valentine's dinner every year for the past 4 years, and I am never disappointed. The meal was delicious - 5-6 options for both an appetizer and entree, and 3 options for dessert, all for $55. Plus their delicious corn bread and a tasty chocolate truffle at the end of the night - great service, perfect ambiance, and delicious food. Best way to spend my Valentine's Day with my husband!"

  • "This was actually my 2nd choice for Valentine's Day, but after my 1st option did not pan out, this turned out to be a perfect dinner. We were running late for dinner, & called in advance & they were still very accommodating. It was a prixfix menu. It was like 3 or 4 course meal & all was delectable (really loved the fried oyster appetizer w/ cream sauce). They had a corn bread that tasted like carrot cake! My skirt steak was perfect with right enough char & tenderness. The service was great, very attentive & friendly (probably b/c it was 6.45-7.00 pm dinner, but still it was a full house & didn't feel cramped). They greeted you when you arrived, during, & when you left. They had a cool old-fashioned drink w/ an infused drink strip of bacon."
