Chef/Owner Steven Picker develops dishes that are all-American in spirit utilizing fresh, seasonal ingredients.
The Zagat survey claims that our name is an understatement & our customers seem to agree. We simply aim to stay true to our goal of providing fresh, good food in a gracious manner.
Good's menus are crafted to work with the seasons & we offer dishes to fit many moods. We take as much pride in providing a casual bite as we do in creating a special occasion meal.

  • "I highly recommend Good Restaurant. I recently had dinner there with four of my friends, and we all really enjoyed it. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Two of my friends were running late, but we were still allowed to sit down at our table and order drinks, which I feel is pretty unheard of at nice NYC restaurants. I would definitely eat there again and plan on going for brunch soon because another friend told me it was great."

  • "My favorite brunch spot. Make a reservation if you want to avoid a long wait. I've liked everything I've ordered at Good, but usually find myself gravitating to the lemon ricotta pancakes or vanilla buttermilk pancakes. The Good breakfast that includes a cocktail is also a favorite."

  • "The hostess that we worked with prior to our party's arrival was great and very informative. The food was excellent; brunch & dessert The whole experience felt great until we met our waiter who was the only tarnish on our experience. He had a personality that was not fit for the service industry. He was short, did not want to answer questions and always in a rush which created a feeling of discomfort. He disregarded special arrangements made in advance for the birthday that we were celebrating. There was no clear process for clearing the table as we transitioned between dishes; you felt like you were eating on top of yourself or had to clear the table on your own. Portions of our order were forgotten or special request were not addressed."

  • "This was actually my 2nd choice for Valentine's Day, but after my 1st option did not pan out, this turned out to be a perfect dinner. We were running late for dinner, & called in advance & they were still very accommodating. It was a prixfix menu. It was like 3 or 4 course meal & all was delectable (really loved the fried oyster appetizer w/ cream sauce). They had a corn bread that tasted like carrot cake! My skirt steak was perfect with right enough char & tenderness. The service was great, very attentive & friendly (probably b/c it was 6.45-7.00 pm dinner, but still it was a full house & didn't feel cramped). They greeted you when you arrived, during, & when you left. They had a cool old-fashioned drink w/ an infused drink strip of bacon."

  • "I have been to good for their Valentine's dinner every year for the past 4 years, and I am never disappointed. The meal was delicious - 5-6 options for both an appetizer and entree, and 3 options for dessert, all for $55. Plus their delicious corn bread and a tasty chocolate truffle at the end of the night - great service, perfect ambiance, and delicious food. Best way to spend my Valentine's Day with my husband!"

  • "I am a bit of a picky eater, but the staff was extremely accomodating. The bartender/waitress was very patient and solicitous without being overbearing. She was knowledgeable about the menu and her recommendations were stellar. The staff was seamless and worked as a team. It was small and cozy but we were near the door and this is a cold winter. However, I did feel as if my dinner partner and I were all alone, a difficult achievement in a relatively busy restaurant in Greenwich Village. My only caveat is that it was a Monday night & my experience may be atypical or not applicable to the weekend rush. My skirt steak was absolutely delicious, succulent and tasty and the carrot cake and bread pudding were marvelous. It was Good indeed."

  • "I had to organize an event for a small group of 8 people quickly. They folks at Good were very accommodating and took excellent care of us. The food was very nice. I had the chicken, which was cooked well and was tasty. However, the staff was really the reason I would come back. They were all really, really nice and helped us as our group came straggling in."

  • "My friend and I had a wonderful time at Good on Friday. I'd made a reservation, so we were seated immediately on arrival, in a cozy table near the window. Our waiter's descriptions of the wines by the glass enabled us to make good choices. Both of us ordered the Overnight Roasted Pork as our main course, and I think it is the best thing I have ever had there! The only time I touched my knife was to butter the fresh cornbread. Although there was not an empty table, the noise never made it difficult for us to talk, and so we were able to enjoy each other's company as well as the excellent food."

Food was incredible and received rave reviews by all. Fish tacos and overnight roasted pork along with salad were big hits. Dessert was a bit heavy. Restaurant music is not loud at all allowing for business conversation."

The limited menu for New Years Day did not include lemon ricotta pancakes or the Good breakfast combo that I was so looking forward to. I ended up having a basil, goat cheese scramble and it was delicious but not why I made the reservations."

  • "I went with an out-of-town friend to Good for brunch on a Saturday. Service was very pleasant and attentive. My grilled chicken sandwich was delicious, with amazing bread which normally I can only find in Amsterdam! My friend enjoyed his Burrito. A really lovely place for lunch!"

  • "I ate at Good with two friends for dinner this week--I'd been for brunch but never dinner. The farro salad and banana bread pudding were fantastic, but the fish tacos and cavatelli were mediocre. However, our server was so warm, helpful and yet unobtrusive at the same time that he more than compensated for the somewhat forgettable food. We sat for four hours and were never rushed or nudged out. It really was, overally, a lovely evening."

  • "We have had brunch at Good several times but this was our first dinner. It was outstanding. We dined on Sunday evening and took advantage of the three courses for $25 special. The food was excellent, the portions were larger than I expected, and the service was great. We will definitely be back for dinner very soon. On Sundays they also have 1/2 off their bottles of wine. Another good deal and the wine list is not long but very good."

  • "It's a normal, likeable local restaurant that caters to a nice crowd from young to mature. No screaming crowds, no intense competitive dining situations, no pretentious menu items - just a pleasant easy place to get a great meal from a pleasant staff. It's amazing that the wait and bar staff has been there for a long time making Good a really Great place to go for repeat diners. These kind of places are few and far between in Greenwich Village."

  • "In a city where foodies fight to claim they've paid for the best an most prestigious small plate, this neighbourhood gem in the heart of the village, serves good (fitting) wholesome, an hearty food served from the heart. Healthy portions, lots of flavour, we would recommend GOOD as a night out dining experience to anyone visiting the big apple. It's like your favourite restaurant back home just better!"

  • "Prices high for mediocre, diner food. We were a party of 3. One of us had the fish tacos. Two tacos, presented nicely, with one small piece of fis in each for $23. I had the turkey scallopini which was just a breaded fried turkey cutlet with some underdressed coleslaw scattered on top. Also $23. Another of us had the pork which he said was tasty. The room and service was good, but the food certainly won't bring me back"

  • "Except for the Pork Belly sliders, which were extremely GOOD, the rest of the food wasn' that GOOD. Calamari and Japanese eggplant was overwhelmed by a strong ming pesto, the watermelon salad was overly herbed and the chicken described as crispy was not.GOOD try but not GOOD enough to return."
