Food outstanding & beautiful setting and atmosphere. What dropped this from a 5 was the service. It was very good for the first half and then poor. Our empty dinner plates sat on the table for at least 10 minutes.....then forever to bring the coffee, check etc. The table next to us had a different waitress and she was at their table at least 3 times during a span when our waitress was not at our table once. She was really nice so I didn't say anything. Everything else was top notch. There are three small Dining Rooms which allows an intimate atmosphere with few tables in each space. The mushroom brushetta was a delicious start to our meal. Our group of six ordered different items which gave us a chance to experience the different dishes, all fabulous. Service was wonderful. I had envisioned a slightly larger dining room (there are only about 8 tables), but that wasn't a problem by any means. Driving through the country to get there I wasn't sure what to expect and when I saw the place it was like "Oh Wow!" The setting on the Mississippi River is just overwhelmingly beautiful and the restaurant allows you to take in all of the view. With everything being so beautiful I figured the price would be over the top too but it was less than we spent in town and the food was just as attractive as it was delicious! I just wish we had found this place sooner because we were going home the next day. What a special place this is... the food was wonderful and sevice was fantastic. Busy place but we were in no rush! We were one of the last dinner reservations, but loved relaxing and talking and taking our time with dinner. I wanted a special location to celebrating and The Goldmoor did not disappoint us. The front view is amazing, and we asked to sit next to the window so we enjoyed the most beautiful sunset with the Mississippi River view. The food and the staff are outstanding. Upsides: the dining room view, overlooking the Mississippi, with trains rolling by; very pleasant, particularly as the sun was setting. My husband was not feeling 100% on the night we ate here, so that took away quite a bit from the overall enjoyment of the evening. The waitress was very pleasant and accommodating. Additionally, the host who greeted us was nice. The food was a 4 out of 5. I enjoyed my soup and salad, but I thought the Beef Wellington should have been served without large mounds of mashed potatoes. My husband enjoyed his trout; nicely cooked. Unfortunately, a fidgety child eating with his parents negatively impacted our evening. This restaurant is a true gem and worth a special trip of many miles. Food, atmosphere, and service all of the highest level. There was nothing in our dining experience which rated less than five stars.
