Diner Reviews
  • "2nd visit didn't disappoint. Tried the Sunday Fried Chicken Dinner. Fantastic and great deal!"

  • "Very good bar if you like those trendy mixologist prepared cocktails. Hoison shoulder pork chop was primo and better than Jar's rib cut. Pate starter had variety and was well prepared. We all enjoyed some veggie small plates and a really good Hanger steak too that was properly cooked as requested. Date cake dessert was really excellent. But the waiter, oh the waiter....full of himself. I don't want stupid rhetorical questions when I ask about the menu and I don't want to wait for the check while he chats up women at the bar. I was sufficiently disturbed that I felt it necessary to put it in my review. Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to returning to this nicely designed, well thought out restaurant with excellent food."

  • "Good smell of wood inside. Very cool place, but when we were there is was really hot both inside and outside... and as we walked from the hotel, a good few blocks, we were hot already getting there. Good food and service."

  • "The food was good, but nothing above average. The service was horrendous as it was busy and only 1 waiter for over half a dozen tables. The dj in the middle of a small restaurant was having issues with sound. Limited space overall and just an unsettling experience unfortunately. I am an avid restaurant attendee and into fine dining; therefore, I do have a frame of reference when reviewing a place like Goldie's."

  • "Portions are very small for the price. Not all dishes come out together. The main entree doesn't come with any sides. You have to tell waiter to bring everything out together."

  • "Had a great time - we made a reservation, which makes going to brunch in LA SO much easier. Food was delicious (had our waiter surprise me for my order, and didn't disappoint!). The cocktails were de-licious. And the Banoffee Pie was so so good!"

  • "Tried Goldie's for the first time with two girlfriends... GREAT brussell sprouts, fun cocktail list, excellent service, good location with valet service, nice outdoor patio area (with heaters). I'll definitely come back!"

  • "Very disappointed. Everything was very salty. Had high expectations from the delicious looking menu-- went here for a work meeting--everyone agreed that it was not one of our favorite lunch finds."

  • "Goldie's had good food and a nice ambience. Overall we had a nice experience, but the service was extremely slow. Our dinner for three people lasted over 2.5 hours which was not what we were looking for when we tried to find a place for a casual Sunday night dinner. The wait staff were very nice though, so don't want to give them a bad review."

  • "Very interesting but there's something on there for everybody. They kept the bottomless mimosas (and the water) flowing and the food was delicious. Can't wait to take more people there!"

  • "Goldie's had been recommended by a few different friends. Recommendation was well worth it! Food was delicious. Service was just the right balance of attention and privacy....very friendly. Will be coming back A LOT!!"

  • "We Goldies was a last minute find for a night out with my wives brother. I chose it based on a foodie website that lusted multiple places. Glad we tried it! Rustic feel, good atmosphere, great bar, food was great, and great service! Overall we left satisfied with nothing to say but good things. "

  • "My boyfriend and I live in the area and it was getting quite late... We called to make a reservation at our normal neighborhood restaurants, but they were busy.... I remembered I wanted to dry Goldie's! Great spot, amazing good, yummy wine!! I will be back :)"

  • "This was for brunch for my birthday... It always baffles me when "nice" restaurants use McDonalds style buns for sandwiches and burgers. Besides that, the food was bland and overpriced. Our server was slow and couldn't be bothered. My mom said she had a question on the menu and he said "wait until I explain it before you ask your questions." It was strange. Lastly, we were on the patio and were being scorched by the sun so we asked that the retractable awning be closed just by a small amount and the server did not attempt to ask the manager until after we had already gotten our food, and then closed the entire patio making everyone on the patio upset. "

  • "I like this place quite a bit. The staff, presentation, ambience is all there. Believe that you'd attract a larger audience if your menu was larger and your prices lower. I think you'd build a loyal following this way, especially in this neighbourhood where new restaurants are popping up everywhere. "

  • "Lots of great wood-fired food. Nice build out of old Chado Tea Space. Goldie is award winning mixologist behind the bar. She has some great drinks using fantastic selection of artisanal ryes, bourbons, and other whiskies from around the world. Wine program is moderately priced and exclusively bio dynamic. Lot of really good luscious choices. Want to go back soon."

  • "Very loud music from the restaurant. We asked to turn it down a notch since we were seated below one of the speakers, but rather than turn down the volume they changed the type of music."

  • "Nice outdoor seating, good service. Food was just okay -- interesting menu but none of the items we ordered were standouts."

  • "Can't say enough about the food and the service....love this place."

  • "Amazing that brussel sprouts could ever be the highlight of a meal, but these were sensational!"

  • "The food is great for sharing. This was our 3rd or 4th time there and we LOVE the food. BUT My only complaint is that the music they had on was a bit loud (we were sitting on the patio and even there it was hard to have a converstaion) and their choice of music sounded to me like it was what should be played at the gym for workouts!"

  • "After not seeing two of our favorite couples for some months, we decided to brunch it up at Goldie's. It was the perfect choice. Valet is available. Brunch offers bottomless mimosas, which were blood orange for us. Delicious! Definitely start with the Avocado Toast! Just the right amount of citrus and the toast is perfectly crunchy. Between the six of us we ordered the Eggs Benedict and the Steak and Eggs. My steak was cooked perfectly, however, I would have liked a little more salad. Everyone enjoyed their Eggs Benedict...I tried some of the kale on their dish and was surprised at how incredibly delicious it was. The service was fantastic. Our server was very attentive and kept the mimosas flowing. TIP: you HAVE to have the bread pudding!"

  • "the moment we walked into restaurant there was this really strong odor just hit me..it smells like garbage or something rotten, could be the trashcan or the waste from the kitchen. The patio area was covered with tarp due to the cold weather, so the smell got trapped inside the room. .it was not pleasant. However, our waitress was very attentive and offered great service. As for the food, let's just say we will not go back for that. Portion was okay but for the price you pay it is considered expensive. Maybe I have not dined out lately and am not aware of the price hike...We ordered 7 dishes and to be honest nothing stood out. especially we ordered most of the recommended dishes. I guess you pay for the ambiance and location."

  • "Reasons why I will go back to Goldie's and why I think you should go there too: - Easy to make a reservation - Greeted by a friendly and knowledgeable host - Kindly escorted to our table - Assisted by our waiter in helping to make food and drink decisions - Liquids and edibles came out quickly and everything was scrumptious - We were checked on frequently for satisfaction - Prices were fair and we were even given the option of adding more money for "water donation" to help SoCal - The neighborhood is happenin', so we had several options for post-dinner cocktails elsewhere"

  • "nice ambiance, with decent food and decent service. the music needs to be updated...same song looped for two hours, it was really quite amazing."

  • "We had a reservation but tables weren't turning over and we ended up waiting a while until a high top became available. The host was very apologetic, checking in with us often and explaining the situation. Once we were finally seated they covered our apps and dessert as an apology which wasn't even necessary. Every dish we had was amazing! Brusell sprouts, scallops... all great. Highly recommend."

  • "Great atmosphere, great food but our server was very flustered and not exactly the nicest. He was borderline rude which made things a little uncomfortable. I'd still go back."

  • "Valentine's Day fixed menu was $75 for 5 of the smallest portions I have ever seen"
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "We went for the first time on Valentines Day night and had an absolutely wonderful time. The staff was friendly and knowledgable about the food. The 5 course prix fixe was the perfect serving size and creatively prepared and paired with custom cocktails for each course. Was a a charming dinner that felt special and was surprising and delicious. I won't hesitate to go again."

  • "I didn't have a good food experience. The server was in a hurry although the place was virtually empty. The food wasn't memorable or actually good —the drink was — the worse Ricotta Hot Cakes ever! 3 chunks of plain wheat on a plate — the Cornish Hen was great and the ambiance, the fact that you have a 'nice place' to be outside on 3rd St. (there are other places but they're right on the side walk) — I live in the area and If I ever happen to come back, would definitely be for the drinks because the food wasn't memorable."

  • "Go with a group and order 2 dishes per person. The brussel sprouts with quinoa is very flavorful and the grilled flat bread with ricotta and honey is refreshing and great for sharing."

  • "Goldies had been on my list for a while since reading about it's opening and I finally was on that side of town. If I wasn't moving in the next month it would definitely become a regular spot. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful with those of us that couldn't make decisions. The brunch drinks were also very unique and delicious. Next time I'll be planning to uber so I can take part in the bottomless mimosas. The restaurant itself has great vibe in ambiance, not too stuck up but also not too laid back; the perfect combination. The breakfast sandwich is a must and while it sounds a little boring the avocado toast was delicious. A perfect dish to share."

  • "I can't believe it took me this long to get to Goldie's, and now I just hope everyone is dining there. The service was impeccable, the food was absolutely delicious, and I even really liked the decor. Well done, you have a new neighborhood regular on your hands!"
    Dined on 1/18/2014
  • "I didn't know what to expect from the menu, it seemed so different, but what we ordered was awesome! The wine list was also a bit different, I didn't recognize any of the wines, but great. I'll definitely be back!"

  • "We had an early reservation at Goldie's so it wasn't completely full during out visit. It was a perfect spot and time for a nice post Xmas dinner. The service was excellent, the food was really good and the ambiance was great. Since this in our neighborhood, we will definitely be back soon. I want to check out the brunch. Thank you Goldie's."
    Dined on 12/27/2013
  • "The food was hit and miss: Brussels sprouts and corn pudding were fine, but the steak was tasteless and the leeks overcooked. The wine list (from "sustainable" vineyards) is uninspired and uninspiring. The concept is "small plates" but that is a misnomer: the vegetables come big enough to share by 3 people so order less than the waiter suggests. And the music was blasted at least 15-20 decibels too loud to allow for conversation."
    Dined on 12/24/2013
  • "The interior of the restaurant is warm with wood used for the bench against the wall and on the ceiling, table tops, and room divider. It has a rustic feel to it. Service was excellent, our waiter was endearing and charming. The eggs benedict with salmon were good, but the plating was boring. It needed a slice of fruit or garnish or something. Same for the eggs on toast. Very bland presentation."
