  • "We went to the Goldener Hirsch because my son noticed that they had a cheese fondue appetizer (which was great). What we found was a very good restaurant in upper Deer Valley with really good food and great service. The waiter really knew the menu and the wines to make good recommendations. The manager was on the floor checking people’s service. The food again was really good. I particularly enjoyed the Schnitzel. The atmosphere was that of an alpine hunting or ski lodge. I highly recommend this place."

  • "Not really sure why this restaurant gets any high marks unless you automatically think that expensive means good. Service was fine but, even with a party of 3, the servers could not deliver the food to the right person - drinks, appetizers or main course. Only when all 3 of us were sharing a dessert did they get it right...but without forks or plates. I had a lamb shank that was great; my friends' food was ok but nothing special. Wine list is mediocre wines that were priced $30-40 more per bottle (for the more reasonably priced wines) than what we had paid the evening before in another local Park City restaurant. But the chocolate fondue for dessert ($24) was enough to share. Will not return."

  • "One of the worst meals we have ever eaten (for tried to eat). My wiener schnitzel was apparently deep fried with a puffy coating and something tough inside that might at one time have been veal. My wive's steak was inedible with a strange taste. Yes the dining room is attractive and the service is acceptable. Profs for my birthday desert. BUT terribly overpriced and horrible food"

  • "We were in a group of four adults, on a ski vacation when we made reservations. This intimate restaurant in a boutique inn lived up to expectations. The beet salad was exquisite and the trout and Wiener schnitzel entrees were very good. The live music was nice without being too loud and the atmosphere was pleasant and comfortable. It appeared that they can accommodate large groups in a separate dining area in the back. The decor was lovely and the maître d was very charming. We also thoroughly enjoyed the wine list and the chocolate fondue for dessert. I would say that Executive Chef Ryan Burnham has created a wonderful dining experience in this quaint corner of Deer Valley. Well done!"

  • "Waitress informed 4x we had flown in thousands of miles, we were STARVING, please send out some bread and butter. This was ignored for about 15-20 minutes. She then screwed up the entree orders- she had to come back AFTER the appetizers were eaten to figure out which entree dish she forgot to order, further slowing the meal. Then the runner served every single person the wrong dish (probably just following the wrong info received from the waitress), so we had to play musical plates at the table. The live music was tasteful but WAY too loud for the dining room. $700 meal, and the least satisfying of our stay in Park City. I've eaten here happily before, so I blame this one staffer. Management also never checked to see how we were doing..."

  • "Ok.. you must order this .. They make their own marshmallows and it was divine... The cheese fondue was also good, but they kept trying to take it away before we were finished.. I guess the pots burn if they stay too long.. Maybe they need different ways to keep it hot as we wanted to linger. The broccoli served with it was not the best choice, but apples and bread and wine.? need I say more!"

The restaurant looks cozy with German charm in the lobby and decor, however the food taste and quality was not worth the price. I wont be visiting here again on my trips to SLC."

  • "The appetizers were excellent, the second courses were good but the main courses were a bit bland, boring. 1st course: mushroom tasting, Brussels sprouts and lamb sausage - all excellent! 2nd course: butternut squash soup, garden salad and beet salad - all good Main course: chicken, duck and Wiener schnitzel - duck was a little dry and the dish was bland, chicken was very tender but flavor just wasn't there and the Wiener schnitzel was traditional and good but nothing out of the ordinary. Dessert was the chocolate fondue. Ok but not great. Service was attentive but slow. Great ambiance and quiet."

Of course by the time we got back to the restaurant, we were so comfortable we ordered several bottles of wine. I think I had the wiener-schnitzel for dinner.   • "We were so enamored by the charm and incredible cuisine when we discovered this restaurant last year . . . that returning was high priority on this trip to Deer Valley. The warmth and beauty of the fireplaces, both stunningly appointed in winter splendor, serve as a perfect backdrop to the scrumptious cuisine. The roasted Brussels sprouts appetizer we had to reorder and split this trip! Just delectable. The carrot soup was exquisite in taste and consistency, the scallops appetizer with napa cabbage was the highlight of the evening fir me--- and we split two desserts, both of which were delicious. Our server, Jeff was a delight. And gave us just the right amount of attention. We will return ----- wish it could be sooner than next year."

We were greeted at the door by the general manager and the woman on the appointment desk, who confirmed our reservation and seated us promptly. The dining room is pleasant, with an intimate feel,, a fireplace and tables organized around it. We were in the center of the room, but did not feel crowded, nor spotlighted. Those around us were also enjoying their meals without a lot of fuss. Our waitperson was excellent making sure our meal throughout was served appropriately and timed perfectly. Desserts were complements of the house since it was our anniversary. The general manager came to the table to congratulate us and chat. Overall our experience was superb."

  • "Really, really enjoyed the food. I had gnochi with fresh mushrooms, arugula, and tomatoes. The gnochi was light and the broth was wonderfully "earthy". We also had the duck which was really well executed and the trout (once as per the menu, the other with no butter/dairy). Both were also exceptionally well done. The service was uneven the night we were there (second glass of wine arrived after dinner instead of with it ??). I'm also personally not a fan of the the european decor (e.g., antler chandeliers). However, the food was so good -- I would gladly go back."

  • "Our visitTo the Goldener Hirsch was on January 5, 2014. We had bus problems getting to the restaurant. I called to tell them we and the concierge John said, we will send the car. Ten minutes later the car pulled up to the transportation center. The driver, Chris, was was courteous and on the way to the restaurant gave us a short tour of Park City. Walking in was like walking in to Austria. The staff was attentive but never hovered over our table. The Goldener offers corkage and had my Crement chilled perfectly. Our weinerschnitzel and lamb shank were exactly right as were the sides of mashed potatoes and cabbage. The cabbage, cooked with bacon and other wonderful spices, was fantastic. I was tempted to ask for a take home."

  • "The restaurant is located in a beautiful part of the Park City Region. The dining experience as hoped was very special. The food a nice contrast to other offerings in the area. The Weinerschnitzel was good, the duck, outstanding. We also had the fondu appetizer which was marvelous. The wine list had a broad selection from the usual regions, Napa, Mendoza, Spain and Italy, including some Austrian wines. We and our guests will definitely return the next time we are in the area. Our servers were very attentive and terrific."

  • "Hard to be critical of this charming restaurant, as so many things were done right. The food, ambiance and presentation were all excellent. Fondue, roasted carrot soup, and lamb shanks were incredible. Really a shame that the service fell flat. Not a huge issue at $20/person, but for over $75/person one should expect the staff to be on their game. Had to remind the waiter to bring a glass of wine half way through appetizer. After wife ordered a second glass of wine, nothing appeared. Had to flag down another waiter to cancel since it had been so long. Waiter blamed it on a busy bar (lame). Serving staff seemed to have no idea where dishes went, had to help them at each course. One server left a large gravy thumbprint on my entrée plate."

  • "I have been living in Park City for many years, and have been to mostly all of the restaurants in town. The Goldener Hirsch is top drawer, all the way. I have eaten just about everything on its menu, and nothing disappoints. The restaurant makes you feel like you are in St. Anton, Gstaad and/or St. Moritz. The entire staff does a wonderful job."
