  • "Great service, awesome Prime Rib, and a step back into old Vegas steakhouse atmosphere. I'd definitely go again."

  • "Service was great and the Prime Rib was the best I've tasted in Vegas. Romantic atmosphere, loved the Rat Pack songs they play while your eating. Big food serving compared to other steakhouse. Average price for a fine dinning restaurant. I would definitely go back here for my next special occasion."

  • "Great rib-eye and crab legs. The steak was heaven....divine! Lyonnaise potatoes terrible - it needs to be taken off the menu - dried out potato chips topped with soggy onions.....they didn't even offer to remove it from the check. Stuffed mushrooms not much better. Stay away from the extras and you'll want to keep coming back. I didn't like the waiter talking about the tips not being what it used to be. Again the meats were the best in town"

  • "We hosted two friends from southern California and wanted to show them a real Las Vegas steakhouse and city landmark. They were delighted to sit in Frank Sinatra's booth and how they were welcomed by several staff members when we arrived. They felt the food was outstanding and the service superb! A fantastic evening of food, wine and friendship was enjoyed by all. This is an authentic classy steakhouse like I remember my parents taking the family to so we would know the difference between a good restaurant and a very classy one which is the Golden Steer Steakhouse. This is an experience that should not be missed!!!!!!!!!!!"

  • "This place is VERY over priced. The $8 salad arrived on a plate with white iceberg lettuce with a few leaves of green, 2 chunks of tomatoes & 2 slices of cucumber, a bunch of chick peas all mixed together with too much dressing plopped on a plate. TERRIBLE presentation. The baked potato was good size but arrived with a slice in the side with a blackened potato meat inside. Obviously they do not have anyone checking the meal before presentation. The steak was good but arrived as an over cooked rare. The offer was made to redo but due to the SLOW service I kept it as it was. This meal was worth about $25 max. Web menu advertises an 18oz steak, restaurant menu states 16oz. not sure it was 16 oz by the looks of both of our steaks."

  • "Very cool dinner spot. You can get a good steak anywhere but sitting in Clint Eastwoods booth at the Golden Steer was a rare experience. You can also enjoy dining where Marilyn Monroe, Joe DiMaggio, Elvis Presley, Muhammad Ali, or the great Sammy Davis, Jr. regularly dined (original leather in booth) after his shows. Steak and lobster par for Capital Grille, or the Palms. Great experience and a memory verses only another expensive steak. Give it a try!"

  • "Fifth year going to the Golden Steer for my son's birthday. He is now 12 and feels like a king! The food is amazing. Huge portions, excellent service. The lobster, Alaskan crab legs, and prime rib is our family favorites. You definitely get what you pay for."

  • "Expecting "The best steaks on earth" our experience was quite different. I ordered the Top Sirloin medium, it came more on the well side. Taste wise the meat was not any different than a lower rated simple Steak House. Next disappoint: The Broccoli my wife ordered. Served straight from boiling water, unseasoned, no sauce, salt or pepper. Same to my "Fresh Cut Fries", just bland, not tasted like fries at all. My daughter had the "Veal Parmigiana" - tasted very similar like one from "the Italian place around the corner". While I still was eating my steak and fries, one of the servers already started to remove the plates from the table. He even wanted the plate with my fries, so I asked him to stop. Big NO NO for a fine dining restaurant."

  • "There is a good reason The Golden Steer has survived the onslaught of dining options around Vegas and in the Strip hotels. The service and food were excellent. Caesar salad actually made tableside (it's been a long time since we've had that) and steaks cooked as ordered. The 12 oz. filet is exceptional."

  • "Loved this place! The food, the service snd the history of this place made for THE best evening of our entire holiday! Fantastic!"

  • "The oldest steakhouse in Las Vegas has portion sizes that are from the old school days, LARGE. The bone-in rib eye was good, but I would say it was worth $52 but the sauteed mushrooms were amazing. The wine list was basic, common wines you can find anywhere, which I didn't mind because my favorite was listed. However, you go here for the experience. The ambiance was incredible. I sat in Clint Eastwood's booth and you could easily feel the history in this place. Be careful with cabs though. If you miss the restaurant, it's a challenge to get there as the parking lot is one-way. Also to note, this is at the end of a strip mall so it can be hard for new cabbies to find."

  • "The Caeser salad was a must. I really enjoyed the chicken of the angel main dish and the side of fries hit the spot. The wine list was lacking one of the only real draw backs."

  • "The Golden Steer has been around a long time, and still retains the elegance, fine food and service, and attention to detail it did when the Rat Pack and other big name celebrities made it their hang out. Prices are what you would expect at a Las Vegas prime restaurant: mostly a la carte entrees and on the high end. The experience and food are worth the expense. The atmosphere is refined. Servers are in tails, most of whom have worked there for years. The noise level is restrained, allowing you to converse with ease. Few tourists know about the Golden Steer; you will find it full of locals. Tell your taxi driver or the concierge at your hotel you are going to the Golden Steer and s/he will respond that you "know Las Vegas"."

  • "On a recent trip to Vegas my husband and I had dinner here on the recommendation of a family member. We loved the ambiance when we first walked in. It was quite and and not brightly lit with a bunch of glaring white lights. The servers moved around quickly and quitely. We started with a shrimp cocktail. The shrimp were large and the cocktail sauce had just the right amount of kick to it. My husband went with the Rib-eye and I had the T-bone. Both steaks were tender and juicy and cooked exactly as we ordered them. The baked potato we split was huge and also cooked perfectly. We will be eating here again on our next trip to Vegas!"

  • "we found this restaurant via groupon. The service was outstanding. The hostess alone I would return for she was inviting, engaging and such a lovely person. Our meal was exceptional. The menu is a little pricey compared to Canada however the portions were very large and were perfectly prepared. We would definitely return."

  • "Visit the Steakhouse two days in a row. Was so impressed the first night, we came back. BIG mistake, we only ordered appetizers, soup and salad. It took for ever to get our soup and salad. Would I come back ? Yes of course, the steak and prim rib, where the best I've ever tasted. Overall 4.5 stars out of 5."

  • "We went because of it's history and long time notoriety as a great steakhouse. We were disappointed with the average service and average food with above average prices (Caesar salad is $12 a person). Won't be going back although the atmosphere is great, the food and service didn't warrant the price."

  • "This is my go to steakhouse. I love it here and still how GS relishes in old time vegas... So relaxing and a chill place. I decided to get the salmon this time and the salmon was cooked just right and full of flavor."

  • "The food was cooked perfectly. Although the service was efficient, it seemed by using so many servers at each table they were confused and didn't always know who ordered what, and what had and hadn't been served yet. With that being said, overall the experience was good enough and I would reccommend this restaurant to others."

  • "Me and my wife have been here many times. The food is great we do like going here. The last time we were there we had one waiter that we didn't particularly care for so this time when we went we just asked to not sit in his section."

  • "When you want to kick it old school and have some great steaks or Italian classics. The red leather booths are the best, but I miss the steer out front."

  • "When we arrived, they did not have our reservation!!!! I had the confirmation from Golden Steer and they luckily had a table but it could have been a disaster"

  • "Founded in 1958, this is the oldest steakhouse in Vegas. It has charm and ambiance. It has excellent cuts of steak. Their style is to showcase the meat rather than salt or pepper it to the extent of other places. If you want some extra flavor, order a sauce. The Cesar salad was great. Onion soup exactly what you'd expect (and good). The bone-in ribeye: excellent with a huge cap. Great choice of cuts. I would go back and recommend it. However, it IS on the pricier side and there are alternatives. But Golden Steer is unique and classic. Go for the nostalgia first and steak a very close second."

  • "Food very average, service ok, everything a la carte and slightly overpriced. Just a very tired place."
    Dined on 7/6/2014
  • "From the outside the place is nothing to look at, but from the inside it is a true gem. We sat in "Joe DiMaggio's Booth" which was against the back wall. The waiters were dressed up and very professional. They were very knowledgeable of the menu and were able to give recommendations for wine pairings with the chosen entrée. I ordered a bone-in ribeye that was cooked properly but a little bland. The accompanying baked potato was wonderful as was the cheesecake for desert. While the food wasn't "out of this world", I suspect if I ordered something else it would've been great. Nevertheless, the atmosphere and décor makes this a place to try."
