We had the most delicious dinner at this 1958 steakhouse. Our waiter, an Asian man who called himself Jack, made our evening delightful. He prepared our Caesar salad dressing with care and made suggestions for our meal that were spot on. Would love to go back again!!

My wife and I were very disappointed to say the least on the overall experience we had at this Vegas icon. The service was average at best, but the food was a total disappointment. Our 12 oz fillet was tasteless, it had no flavor at all and it wasn't as tender like a fillet should be. For the price that they charge the quality should be much better and so should the service. Needless to say we will not return to this establishment. Having lived here in Vegas for 48 yrs (dinning here a few times in years passed) and knowing that this place used to be a great place to dine we were looking forward to having a great steak, but I guess time has passed this place by. There are too many great steak houses in Vegas and this one falls short.

This was our second venture to the Golden Steer, and they certainly did not disappoint. The service was beyond excellent, with Tom directing a team that took care of every need and then some. They made us feel like we were the only ones there. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough.

For steak lovers coming to Las Vegas, the Golden Steer is a must visit. You will be greeted by the lovely Stephanie, who is a fixture at the Steer (Frankly, they couldn't survive without her), and she will make you feel at home. The food is excellent, the service perfect and the ambiance old Vegas. Ask to sit in one of the Rat Pack's booths and enjoy one of the best meals you will ever have.

The Golden Steer Steakhouse does not look like much from the outside but once you are inside you enter a traditional old time steakhouse. The waiters were friendly and attentive. The Caesar Salad made table side was the real thing; so rarely now do you get to savor the flavor of a real Caesar Salad these days. The filet was so tender it almost melted in my mouth and it was cooked exactly as I ordered it. Even my husband loved his filet and said they cooked his to perfection as well- which hardly ever happens. I would go back to the Golden Steer Steakhouse in a heartbeat when I am back in Vegas.

This was my second time here & the filet was sooooo much better! I ordered it butterflied, medium rare & it came out that way! My knife melted through the steak when I cut it. The side of mashed potatoes were so delicious, creamy & smooth. Hostess & waiter were very friendly. Great service. I care everything & cleaned my plate....something I never do! The bread was also nice & fresh we got two baskets!

Having dinner at the Golden Steer while in Las Vegas has been a tradition of mine for more than 30 years. As I'd not been in the city in a few years, I did not know how it would be. It was fantastic. This is one restaurant that gets better with age.

It was very disappointing to have a horrible waiter (tall, asian guy maybe in his 50s) and it effected my opinion of this place. We felt ignored the entire time we were dining. It took 15-20 to get water (after we FLAGGED down someone) and the restaurant wasn't even halfway full. It was like we were invisible! The food was okay. The petit filet mignon and the NY Strip was pretty bland, lacking flavor. They didn't cook my bf's NY Strip as he requested (medium) but he's too polite to say anything so ate it anyways. The oyster rockafeller, 2x baked potato & creamed spinach was delish. The "special garlic bread" was lame; pieces for $5! It was basically texas toast! The waiter had the audacity to ask me if we were using a GROUPON! NO! So RUDE!

A great throwback to the hey day of Las Vegas. Don't let the first blush of the older strip mall facade put you off; this a gem inside. From the overstuffed leather booths with the plaques of the stars, to the most delicious strip steak I have ever tasted. We had a party of 7 with 3 birthdays, and the service never missed a beat. I've been to the Golden Steer several times. I won't rehash it's deep history but that is what makes this place. After all of these years the steaks are still very good and the highlight of their menu (the chicken parm is good too). I'll be honest and say many of the appetizers and sides are average and the wine list is nothing to write home about. Also cocktails are drab and stale. With all of that said, I do keep coming back. The history and stories bleed through the ambience. It's a nice change from the glitz of the strip. And like I said the steaks are yummy!

Had a great time again. My fourth time at Golden Steer, and the second time with my college buddies from Berkeley. Really like the atmosphere, definitely worth the short drive from the Strip. Would definitely come back again! As a side note, one of my friends on this trip told me that he's also brought business associates there since our first "college reunion" visit two years ago. Thanks again.

Great rib-eye and crab legs. The steak was heaven....divine! Lyonnaise potatoes terrible - it needs to be taken off the menu - dried out potato chips topped with soggy onions.....they didn't even offer to remove it from the check. Stuffed mushrooms not much better. Stay away from the extras and you'll want to keep coming back. I didn't like the waiter talking about the tips not being what it used to be. Again the meats were the best in town

We hosted two friends from southern California and wanted to show them a real Las Vegas steakhouse and city landmark. They were delighted to sit in Frank Sinatra's booth and how they were welcomed by several staff members when we arrived. They felt the food was outstanding and the service superb! A fantastic evening of food, wine and friendship was enjoyed by all. This is an authentic classy steakhouse like I remember my parents taking the family to so we would know the difference between a good restaurant and a very classy one which is the Golden Steer Steakhouse. This is an experience that should not be missed!!!!!!!!!!!

This place is VERY over priced. The $8 salad arrived on a plate with white iceberg lettuce with a few leaves of green, 2 chunks of tomatoes & 2 slices of cucumber, a bunch of chick peas all mixed together with too much dressing plopped on a plate. TERRIBLE presentation. The baked potato was good size but arrived with a slice in the side with a blackened potato meat inside. Obviously they do not have anyone checking the meal before presentation. The steak was good but arrived as an over cooked rare. The offer was made to redo but due to the SLOW service I kept it as it was. This meal was worth about $25 max. Web menu advertises an 18oz steak, restaurant menu states 16oz. not sure it was 16 oz by the looks of both of our steaks.

Very cool dinner spot. You can get a good steak anywhere but sitting in Clint Eastwoods booth at the Golden Steer was a rare experience. You can also enjoy dining where Marilyn Monroe, Joe DiMaggio, Elvis Presley, Muhammad Ali, or the great Sammy Davis, Jr. regularly dined (original leather in booth) after his shows. Steak and lobster par for Capital Grille, or the Palms. Great experience and a memory verses only another expensive steak. Give it a try!

Expecting "The best steaks on earth" our experience was quite different. I ordered the Top Sirloin medium, it came more on the well side. Taste wise the meat was not any different than a lower rated simple Steak House. Next disappoint: The Broccoli my wife ordered. Served straight from boiling water, unseasoned, no sauce, salt or pepper. Same to my "Fresh Cut Fries", just bland, not tasted like fries at all. My daughter had the "Veal Parmigiana" - tasted very similar like one from "the Italian place around the corner". While I still was eating my steak and fries, one of the servers already started to remove the plates from the table. He even wanted the plate with my fries, so I asked him to stop. Big NO NO for a fine dining restaurant.

There is a good reason The Golden Steer has survived the onslaught of dining options around Vegas and in the Strip hotels. The service and food were excellent. Caesar salad actually made tableside (it's been a long time since we've had that) and steaks cooked as ordered. The 12 oz. filet is exceptional.

The oldest steakhouse in Las Vegas has portion sizes that are from the old school days, LARGE. The bone-in rib eye was good, but I would say it was worth $52 but the sauteed mushrooms were amazing. The wine list was basic, common wines you can find anywhere, which I didn't mind because my favorite was listed. However, you go here for the experience. The ambiance was incredible. I sat in Clint Eastwood's booth and you could easily feel the history in this place. Be careful with cabs though. If you miss the restaurant, it's a challenge to get there as the parking lot is one-way. Also to note, this is at the end of a strip mall so it can be hard for new cabbies to find.
