Golden Pheasant Inn
Great Food Casually Elegant DiningSituated between the Delaware River and the Canal is a historic and scenic restaurant. On a beautiful Saturday evening , we enjoyed a wonderful meal. We had our gradnchildren with us, ages 6 and 8 and the staff was very accomadating. The chef tailored my granddaughters wish for Steak with an affordable version of a lunch time filet. We intend to become regulars.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThird time at the newly renovatedThird time at the newly renovated Golden Pheasant- never disappointed. Always good food and service, with excellent ambiance6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMFarm to Table Perfected! The Golden Pheasant Inn provided a truly spectacular experience from the moment of our arrival until our evening was complete. We sat outside which is beautiful, comfertable and relaxing. The cheese selection was fantastic and all of the entrees were delicious. Fresh farm to table at its best! The rack of lamb and duck are highly recommended, although we will certainly be back to enjoy other dishes. For dessert, they had strawberry shortcake as a special with fresh local strawberries, local homemade ice cream and a house made shortcake that was spectacular! I cannot say enough great things about the Golden Pheasant Inn. We will be back, and will tell others to do the same.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful!Everything about this inn was memorable. We love eating outdoors and the seating was comfy, setting lovely and weather just perfect! The drinks were good and the appetizer and salad tasty. They failed to put any candied walnuts on our grilled romaine salad and when I mentioned this to our waitress she apologized. Our main courses were delicious--a grilled halibut with farro and a locally smoked pork chop with an Apple brandy sauce. Very yummy!! We had locally made lemon ginger ice cream for dessert and after dinner drinks that were "on the house" because our salad had not been right. A nice touch. It was a little pricey but not considering the quality of the food and top notch surroundings. We plan to return soon.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat freshnessGreat food, especially appreciate all the locally grown ingredients and vegetables.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely dinnerWe ate at the Golden Pheasant with friends. The ambiance, service and food were very good. It has a relaxed but lovely, high end atmosphere and the food is delicious. The bar is a great find, but gets crowded fairly early.
A good time was had by all5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMI like the idea of food beingI like the idea of food being brought in from local sources. The staff takes the time to explain the process it takes to prepare the meals. The noise level is very, very low. The Golden Pheasant is fine dinning at its best. The mood is very relaxed. They do not rush you in or out. Unlike other restaurants along the river they don't try to fill the building with as many people as they can get in. Great Job Golden Pheasant. Keep up the good work5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMDefinite destination diningCountry inn dining experience par excellence. Locally sourced, sustainable where possible, and beautifully prepared. prices are very reasonable for what was served, from beverages through to dessert. Knowledgeable service and classic ambiance in centuries old inn overlooking the Delaware. Consider staying the night so that you don't have to worry about DUI on crazy Buck's County roads at night5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent find...worth the trip!An upscale restaurant in every respect. Service is very good. Attentive but not overbearing. Our meals were cooked to perfection. I enjoy my steak well done and they hit the mark perfectly. Still juicy but cooked throughout. Presentation was very nice as was the portion size. The bar is comfortable and the drink selection was extensive. We hope to return and take advantage of the outside seating area and the view of the Delaware River. Although, the dining rooms are beautiful and should be enjoyed.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful place! We had a wonderful anniversary dinner here last month. The place is just spectacular - they obviously spared no expense on the renovations and it shows. Everything is first class - from the Diptique candles at the hostess station to the beautiful landscaped grounds and everything in between. And you can't beat the setting - the Delaware River on one side and the canal on the other - so pretty! Even given this, their prices are not ridiculous and they have a great selection of wine, beer and cocktails. The food was wonderful - I had halibut and my husband had duck w/puff pastry and both were delicious and the portions just right. The service was also very good - attentive but not annoying. This is a great place - make a point of it and GO!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMMothers Day TreatAlways a pleasure comiing here, brunch is very nice and the Restaurant is historic and charming. Service is always pleasant and proffesional - even on busy days such as Mother's Day.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMTook my wife for Mother'sTook my wife for Mother's Day and we both agreed that this restaurant is excellent. From the views to the interior ambience , it was grear.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous! We had a wonderful Mother's Day dinner. Everything was spectacular! Food was beautifully presented, fresh and delicious. Yolanda was our waitress and she was very professional, knowledgable and pleasant. We all had different entrees which is always interesting and everyone was pleased. Brittany is very kind and gracious upon arrival as always! Decor, flowers and ambience was stunning as always. Thank you for a wonderful experience! We will be back again.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFrom your menuI chose the leaf lettuce salad with goat cheese and sunflower seeds laced with a vinigrette dressing . Vinaigrette in my mind should be sweet and not creamy. So I didn't care for it. My husband likes to eat mussels and he thinks you offer the best. He was not disappointed. My main entree was wild mushroom ravioli, which I did not like. The ravioli was topped with too much cheese and could have been cooked a bit longer. The entree was too "dry" for my taste. A light cream sauce would have made it better. I do not recall what my husband's main entree was but he had no complaints. For the finale we shared the chocolate mousse cake. The filling was terrific, the cake too was dry.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst-timersWe had driven by The Golden Pheasant many times but hadn't tried it because the menu was Classic French which isn't our thing. When we found out that the menu had changed to contemporary American, we made reservations for our anniversary. We loved everything about it. The atmosphere, with views overlooking the Delaware River on one side and the Delaware Canal on the other, is wonderful. The menu, featuring locally-sourced ingredients is fresh and inventive and the food was excellent. The service was attentive and pleasant. We plan to return soon.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was awesome, start to finish. It was awesome, start to finish. Maria our server was outstanding, knew the menu perfectly, and was a pleasure to deal with. Food was top notch.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMSecond time I have been toSecond time I have been to Golden Pheasant and just like the last time it was amazing. Sat outside by the Delaware Canal on a beautiful day , highly recommend asking to be sat outside if weather permits. A++5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was indeed outstanding.Food was indeed outstanding. The noise level was high - too high for this to be an intimate, romantic spot. (That being said, I don't think "romantic" is what the owners are after.) Service was attentive, but a bit too familiar for my taste, at the start and then dropped off completely. Wine service was non-existent: no knowledgeable help with the list, impossible to get someone to fill wine glasses so we just dragged the wine bucket cooler closer to the table and passed the bottle around. At the end of the meal, I was weary of trying to make sure the others at my table had what they needed. At these prices, I expected a better-trained, more refined staff.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMSince the weather was so nice,Since the weather was so nice, we asked to sit outside on the terrace by the canal. The outdoor furnishings and landscaping are really lovely.
We shared a delicious Kale salad with locally foraged Morel mushrooms and for entrees had the shrimp and salmon. The food was exquisite, perfectly seasoned and prepared. For dessert we tried the signature ice cream flavor that Ow Wow Cow makes just for the restaurant. Wow!
Even though it was a really busy Saturday night with all the tables full, our server was attentive and our food arrived promptly.
We will definitely be back to enjoy the lovely terrace.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AM'Farm to Table' Done PerfectlyMy husband and I had dinner at the Golden Pheasant recently. Our initial check in and seating was a bit chaotic as the restaurant was very busy. We were seated in the large room to the left of the bar, where the noise level was very loud. However, once we settled in and were greeted by our server, Maria, everything was great. Service was excellent, there was no rushing, and the food was superb. Ingredients were gorgeous and prepared in a way to showcase them, and allow them to shine. We had the Washington state oysters, split a salad of Bibb lettuce and blood orange, and I had the duck breast and my husband had the lamb shank. Maria our server, was terrific. The outdoor patio on the canal was beautiful, too!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a wonderful evening. We had a wonderful evening. Our server was great, the food was delicious, and a little bit different than the selections you see at most places.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious food, very niceDelicious food, very nice intimate bar with excellent cocktails and a select, innovative beer list. The entire restaurant has been very nicely renovated. Once again, with a plesant and friendly staff it is a worthy destination for a satisfying dining experience.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat neighborhood restaurantWe love the renovations and new menu of this neighborhood restaurant. We can go here for a great meal for our special occasions and not have to drive a great distance. Service and food is always outstanding.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Best on the Delaware RiverCouldn't wait to go back to the Pheasant for my birthday. We were welcomed at the door by Brittney with a Happy Birthday wish. We were seated in the room overlooking the river and the canal. Mary was our server this evening. She made us feel like family and made many good suggestions. As always, the food and wine were excellent and priced just right.. I like the idea that all of the food is purchased from local suppliers. It means so much to know that it is either made, grown or raised just a few miles from the Inn. As we left Kevin the bartender shook my hand and wished me a Happy Birthday as well. I guess the word was out, The Pheasant is fine dinning at its best. Suggest you give it a try...4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMVery nice find. Entrees resesonablyVery nice find. Entrees resesonably priced except beef was a little high.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Place!Excellent restaurant, food, great service and ambiance. One of the top dining experience in the tri-state area !!!!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMVery nice resturant with aVery nice resturant with a great view of the Delaware River. Two large dining rooms flank either side of a well stocked bar. Nice ambiance and very efficient and friendly waitress the night we were there. The food was very good. The Golden Pheasant Inn tries to use local sources for their ingredients and it show with the quality of the food. One of the pleasant surprises was the very reasonable prices on the wine list. They clearly want to sell wine and keep the mark up low.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMhomerunOur experience at this newly renovated historic jem was outstanding . It's our new favorite fine dining . Chef , female , owner and sisters have created a very fopular spot . Beautiful B andB , with great food , service and setting . Love the farm-to-table concept!! Wine list limited. Food was prepared and presented elegantly...not too much sauce or dressing. I hate when food is drowned in sauce! Looking forward to returning!!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGolden Pheasant is Golden!Absolutely beautiful renovations to this historic stone building on the river! Cozy bar, excellent food and good wine list. The servers were friendly and NOT imposing at all (My latest peeve is when the server asks "Is everything alright?" every two minutes!) It would be a neat place to have a party or a wedding, or even to just spend the night. We'll definitely be back later this spring or the summer to sit outside and eat with a wonderful view... This one's a keeper!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was superb. TheEverything was superb. The location is a bit out of the way but worth the trip. The Bordeaux by the glas was amazing!3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time backThis is the our first time back to the Golden Pheasant since the next generation took over. They have done an incredible job with updating the restaurant, preserving the local feel and most of all transporting us to France for a fabulous evening. Will return soon.
Robin and Jeff Connell3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfectA perfect meal in a lovingly restored spot on the Delaware River. This is a must visit, guaranteed enjoyment.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMPleasantly SurprisedGreat renovation with outstanding views! We were seated near the fireplace on a chilly evening which began with a delicious white cranberry martini. The restaurant week prix fix menu was excellent and left us feeling satisfied not stuffed. I can't wait until the weather warms up for outdoor dining.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautifully restored restaurantBeautifully restored restaurant with a scenic view of the river. The strong point of the food is the amazing sauces and dressings as is the case in many of the restaurants experienced in a trip to Paris. Service is likewise impeccable. Great value for Restaurant Week. I will definitely return in the summer to enjoy the view and food again.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent restaurant nestledExcellent restaurant nestled up to the Delaware River in ERwinna, Pa. Authetically restored colonial building with great food and service. If you want the best service, ask for Mary.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWe and our guests had a greatWe and our guests had a great time on Saturday evening. The Inn's renovations are outstanding. The food was fresh, local and very good. Our server, was exceptional!!!! Our only complaint was the noise level in the "sun room", very noisy. One of our guests has a hearing problem and it was very difficult for him to hear at our table.
We would be happy to reccommend the restaurant to others. We will be back!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMRomantic getaway on the DelawareHad been to the inn several years ago. Knew it had closed and was pleasantly surprised when it reopened following wonderful renovations. Decided to surprise my wife with a romantic dinner (she had never been there). The evening was perfect. Ambiance wonderful. The staff moved us close to the fireplace. We love cheese plates and the choices offered were just perfect for our appetizer. I had chicken and my wife halibut. Portions were ample and we had no room for dessert. Having such a nice time, my wife inquired if there were rooms available. A spur of the moment- and romantic- decision transformed us from dinner to the Delaware Suite- an absolutely outstanding large room, wonderfully furnished with a gas fireplace and fresh roses.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat service, quaint settinggreat service, quaint setting and special ambiance. Food was good except the duck was too sweet as a dish overall.
The produce was very fresh!!3/2/2013 12:00:00 AMStone building built in 1857Stone building built in 1857 beautifully restored with new windowed great room. Fabulous view of the Delaware River on route 32. Emphasis on local produce, fish, meats, etc. Mostly traditional menu. Also a hotel with wonderful accommodations. Appropriate menu item is breast of pheasant.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat farm to table cuisineGreat farm to table cuisine in a beautiful location with views of the Delaware River and the canal. Really special.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMreal dining gem on the delawarei'm not sure what i liked more, the excellent service and knowledgeable staff or the superb food or the beautiful setting. it was a wonderful place to celebrate an early mother's day and we all enjoyed it enormously. the smoked trout appetizer rocked, the butter lettuce salad w/ chevre and sunflower seeds was very tasty and the duck was wonderful. the kitchen was good about a few substitutions and service was attentive and could describe not only the dishes but the history of the inn, restaurant and the chefs.
highly recommend!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMA rare treatThe newly renovated Golden Pheasant is a rare treat. Our appetizers were interesting and delicious, locally sourced fiddlehead fern salad. Our entrees were delicious as well, perfectly cooked wild Halibut and locally raised Duck. We loved the views of the Delaware River and the canal from the dining room. A very nice wine list and a great selection of local craft beers on tap.
Can't wait to go back and dine on the outdoor terrace overlooking the canal.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best restaurantsOne of the best restaurants for an exceptional evening of great food, ambience, and a retreat from everyday life.
