A word from Golden Pheasant Inn
"Exquisite" is the word to describe this experience - John V.R. Bull, Philadelphia Inquirer.
Perfect for a relaxed country meal, a weekend getaway or a glass of wine by the fire or on our outdoor terrace, it is hard to imagine a more picturesque setting than the Golden Pheasant Inn. The menu offers fresh, seasonal, locally sourced ingredients, The wine list offers over 160 selections by the bottle and 20 by the glass. Located between the Delaware River and Canal in a historic fieldstone inn, we are one hour and fifteen minutes from New York City or Philadelphia, and only 20 minutes north of New Hope, PA. The inn has been family owned and operated for over 27 years. We look forward to welcoming you and sharing the beauty of Bucks County!

I've eaten there before and the food and the service have been wonderful! I took my best friend, here from Colorado to dinner and we both were disappointed. I had raved about the place and I was sorry I took her there! We waited a full hour for our dinners after we ordered. Tables around us who came in LATER all had their food! 7 people waited on us, more staff than diners! When the dinner finally did show up, her scallops were luke warm at best as was my French chicken. She sent hers back to the kitchen!! My individual bill for dinner, 1 glass of wine and tip was over $70.00 and I expect to have great service in that type of restaurant! I don't think I will go back there again!

This was a wonderful brunch with their outstanding wild mushroom soup and charcuterie plate. This plate of meats from local sources, while listed as a starter, makes a very satisfying lunch. The pheasant pate and duck liver mousse along with some other smoked meats are always delicious and all the better when accompanied by a couple of pints of a local ale.

We have come many times for Brunch on Sundays as we live too far away for evening visits. We have come for quiet lunches, with friends and to celebrate special occasions with family every time we have the same consistent great service and wonderful food! We can always rely on the hostess and servers to be accommodating and responsive and the flavors and combinations of food to be delicious. The solarium is bright and has lovely views and a great fireplace on chilly days and the other dining room is cozy with a historical feel and another fireplace; both great places to enjoy your meal.

The service and ambiance were very good. Nothing wrong with the beer selection or the wine list. However the food ranged from great (grilled octopus, mushroom soup) to poor (overripe tomatoes piled on cold spring mix, chicken cool in center).

The meal was fantastic, the service was superb, the décor is understated elegance, and the location is gorgeous. Among the best dining experiences I have ever enjoyed! The quality and preparation of the food shows individuality and craftsmanship with careful attention to detail, the restaurant staff showed fine training and great intuition. Every portion of every course of the meal demonstrated individual selection and preparation of the ingredients. The menu offerings had individuality and creativity unique to the establishment, including the Fish Sausage. If you want great dining for a special occasion, this restaurant should be a an excellent choice if our experience is typical.

We really loved our experience here but not overly French -Server was very familiar with menu and helpful. There were fresh local ingredients used that she highlighted - very good gazpacho, amazing French onion soup that was light, outstanding salad choices on the menu additions list. My husband loved the duck breast - I ordered the Frenched chicken breast - it was tasty but overcooked (they did offer to redo it but I was too hungry and did not want to wait). Some really good homemade ice creams for dessert although mine had a few ice crystals in it...pumpkin spice - yum. Beautiful setting. Bar is wonderful - ambience great. People dressed sort of casual - mixed - "country" style. Beautiful rooms at inn - 2 night minimum wknd.

After a day enjoying bucolic Bucks county wine and scenery, it was so nice to find a laid-back but sophisticated place to have dinner. I had a nice view of the Delaware while enjoying an Alsacian-style Reisling with hamachi carpaccio appetizer and an entree of grilled wild-caught halibut over quinoa and vegetables. Service was relaxed and attentive. Food presentation was lovely. Couldn't pass up the zabaglione and coffee for dessert. My table companions enjoyed their dinners as well, particularly the tender, falling off the bone pork shank. Wish we lived closer to this great place!

    Dined on 9/26/2014
The Golden Pheasant Inn has always been a special spot for a great meal. The new renovation has turned it into a fresh and lovely place. My only negative comments are that the main dining room gets terribly noisy as the tables fill up and that the vegetables were basically raw. They were presented beautifully, but were only warmed up and were difficult to eat. The service was impeccable and over all it was very memorable. Our guests enjoyed it immensely despite the difficulty to communicate across a large table. This was our second time in the new main dining room and the next time we will ask to be seated in the addition and hope it is a bit quieter.

The younger generation has taken over The Golden Pheasant and it is pleasantly updated. We were greeted and offered a nice choice of tables. Too often, we've been cautioned "no that table is reserved" to see it sit empty for an hour. The Wait Staff were a perfect blend of courtesy and helpfulness. All food was designated as to local sources including the coffee and ice cream. My first try of marrow bones certainly delivered in presentation and flavor. Special attention given to Beer and Wine list. Hope to return for Brunch.

We had a fabulous anniversary dinner. The atmosphere is stunning - No matter whether you sit outdoors, at the bar or in either dining room. The menu was varied with local grown foods. Slight hiccup with one of our dishes (they forgot one of the ingredients!) but otherwise perfect. Will definitely revisit this winter near the cozy fireplace!

I took my husband to Golden Pheasant Inn for his b-day. I asked the staff to reserve us a romantic table. The staff went over and beyond by not only giving us the coziest table but they also decorated the table with a candle, flowers, and Hershey kisses that are wrapped in cute, little boxes, wrapped with white ribbons. The service was excellent! The food was great, except that my husband's Frenched chicken was wasn't as hot as it should have been. Other than that, everything was what I asked for and more... I highly recommend this place to any couple who is looking for a romantic, candlelit dinner.

I liked the restaurant, but the Inn was really special. The rooms were all redone 2 years ago and they did a great job. The restaurant is a little large and lacks the atmosphere you expect at an Inn. That said, the food was great. Our waitress was over taxed, so the service was off, but the food made up for that.

We shared crab cakes for an appetizer and I had the scallops, my wife had roast duck for entrees. I've never seen such small portions anywhere in my life. I had (3) small scallops with tiny baby carrots and no starch served with it. The duck portion couldn't have been more than 2 oz tops. They certainly made a profit on us. Passed on $10.00 desserts as who knows the what that portion may have been. There was more food on the appetizer than the entrees. Will never go back there.

The GPI is good considering it's location. The food is expensive relative to the portion sizes. And I think there is an opportunity to improve the food flavors, particularly with the fish offerings. The service is amateur and slow but well intentioned. The wine list is nice and the ambiance is quaint. The noise level is quite energetic, especially for anyone with hearing issues or that wears a hearing aid. I would recommend it to a friend if they were going to be in the area.

This place is something special. First, if you are not from the area, the ride up the river is absolutely beautiful. The Inn is very nice. We had dinner for 6 outside. The outdoor seating is right on the tow path - but was private and quiet. They had a gentle jazz band playing that night - but still conducive to having a nice conversation with friends. Food was excellent. A bit pricey overall, but for a special night out - it was perfect.

Where to start: Table by a window looking out on the Delaware, very comfortable seating, charming old stone building, Maria our server, and the very satisfying food. All top notch. Small things: food coming to the table hot and ready to eat, prepared in new and different ways without being fussy, fresh fish cooked perfectly to our taste (branzino for my wife---halibut for me), excellent cheese selection for dessert. My wife and I have lived in the area for 25 years and had not gone here. Now I doubt we'll wait 25 days to return!
