  • "Will happily go back here. Really enjoyed our meal. Glad to have a high end restaurant so close bye."

  • "To celebrate a friend's birthday, we went to Golden Pheasant. He had onion soup, braised lamb shank and an apple-based cake for dessert. I started with a salad and had the scallop entre. We tasted one another's food and concluded that both of us were very lucky indeed. His soup was full of onions and cheese and the lamb shank was tender with natural juices. My salad featured pickled fiddle leaf ferns (a first for me) over a spring mix with wonderful tender leaves and a delicate dressing. The scallops were moist and had a great sauce with just a hint of lemon. The staff was very professional in explaining the local sources for the ingredients in our dishes. A totally wonderful experience!"

  • "food at brunch was good......menu is a bit small for the price.....ate outside which is beautiful but too noisy with the bikers and bicyclists coming right beside you,a better place for dinner inside. server was not in the mood to be pleasant, did the bare minimum.........."

  • "Food was excellent. I had the halibut. The Inn is charming. We sat outside but the road noise was a bit much. It eventually died down but I would suggest sitting outside in the back instead of on the side"

  • "First time visit this weekend..a lovely setting, the food was deelish. We shared oysters and a salad, the I got the soft shell special and my husband got the lobster special. Both were excellent. I'd definitely return. The service was okay, not perfect...felt like they could do with one more server or bus person."

  • "We haven't been to Golden Pheasant in years and were looking forward to a nice meal. We shared a grilled Spanish Octopus with sea beans salad. The octopus was really undercooked, to the point of being inedible. We're Greek, so we know how octopus should be cooked. Our servant recommended it as the best on the menu. I would say not. I had the prix fixe which included a grilled wild red snapper - one of my favorite fish. The portion was really small, and the fish was very bland. It did not taste like any other red snapper I've ever had. All in all, a disappointing meal. There was a wedding that day -- maybe the kitchen was overwhelmed, but we were underwhelmed."

  • "The Golden Pheasant is always consistent. I met a friend there for dinner and we had their oysters. As always they were wonderfully cold and tasty. I will keep coming back. I can't say enough good things about the Pheasant from the staff to the food. Keep up the good work."

  • "The setting to dine at The Golden Pheasant is just so peaceful, it is a lovely place to eat. Sitting outside along the canal is great- it doesn't get better than this! The menu offers a lot of choices from Tavern food to a fine dining menu. Overall though, the food is good but needs more "oomph".The mussels needed garlic and the red sauce was bland without it. The green acres salad was drenched in balsamic vinegar dressing which took away from the delicate ingredients. A simple lemon and olive oil would compliment it better, especially with how fragile the greens are. The "whale" soft shell crab was just a regular generic sized crab and it too was bland without garlic. With a few changes in seasoning, this place could really excel."

  • "The recent renovations of the inn are amazing; a wonderful and scenic place to dine on the Delaware river. The service was impecable, however, we were somewhat disappointed in the food. It was good but not great. We were hoping for a 5 star French restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. Would try again, though, as it's a beautiful spot to dine."

  • "The restaurant has an undeniably lovely setting along the Delaware River and the outdoor dining area is very pleasant. However, the food lacks imagination and has no interesting presentation or flavors. The service was far too rapid, only a few minutes elapsed between courses and the dessert menus were stuck under our noses at the same instant as our main course plates were removed. The "strawberry" and rhubarb tart consisted undercooked rhubarb and strawberry gelatin, not an actual strawberry in sight unless you count the garnish. The "flakey" pastry was in fact a thick, dense short crust. If you are looking for good food I would definitely recommend The Frenchtown Inn just across the River."

  • " The setting is really lovely. We were also happy that we could bring wine and pay a corkage fee. however, when we arrived we were pleasantly surprised by how high quality their wine list was so we ended up ordering theirs instead. The food, on the other hand, was very disappointing. For the first course we ordered salads and asparagus and watercress soup. The salads were good but the soups were bland and tasteless. For the second courses we ordered eggs benedict, lobster, crab cakes and soft shell crabs. My eggs benedict were not good: the sauce was overly thick and lemony and the bread was thick and doughy. The lobster was very average. The soft shelled crabs were overly fishy. The crab cakes were the best of the bunch."

  • "When I want a special night out with my husband I love to enjoy al fresco dining at the Golden Pheasant. The menu is always interesting, often including wild harvested mushrooms and fiddleheads in season as well as spotlighting local fish, meat, cheeses and wines. The service is very professional and friendly- outstanding really."

  • "My dining experience at Golden Pheasant has always been phenomenal, except this one time. I ordered the beef bone marrow and it was absolutely delicious, as was the ravioli; my girlfriend also really enjoyed her steak. As I expected, the food never disappoints at GPI, but that's where my good experience ended. Chris was our server and he was very bad at his job. He rushed through his telling of daily specials with a sigh and then was off, not to be seen for another twenty minutes. Chris was very unattentive and very disinterested in his job it seemed. Our bus boy, a younger blonde haired kid, was fantastic however and frequently checked in on us, making recommendations and refilling our water, all of which Chris didn't do once. Horrible."

  • "We enjoyed the beautiful dining room and the staff was very pleasant. They knew we were celebrating our friend's 20th wedding anniversary and gave us complimentary champagne....loved that touch! I also loved my salad....it was very fresh and creative. I ordered the soft shell crab with asparagus for dinner and was disappointed with my selection. There was only one crab for an entree sized portion..l don't think that is acceptable and in line with the cost. Also, my asparagus was blanched, and although I don't like it mushy it was undercooked and gritty! The presentation of the dish could have been better as well.....I expected a much more polished presentation since the salad was so nicely done. "

  • " The folks at The golden pheasant make it easy to write a review. On arrival, you are greeted into an extremely comfortable and lively environment, very conducive to an enjoyable evening. The wait staff is knowledgable and efficient. Good menu with more than adequate choices. Timely service of absolutely wonderful food. Our group was thoroughly satisfied with quantity and quality of the offerings. Good wine list fairly priced. You must give it a try."

  • "It was sooo good during my first visit that I had to return for my 34th wedding anniversary. Sat at a table overlooking the Canal. Service was excellent. If you go sit in the original structure. It is to the right of the entrance. Enjoy!"

  • "This was our second trip to the Golden Pheasant, and it was just as nice as the first. Plus it's now light outside later so we could enjoy the views from the Solarium room! Try the cheese plate appetizer, they have numerous interesting choices. Several interesting entrees that look worth trying. We'll be back!"

  • "We both enjoyed our most recent visit and as usual it was an outstanding experience. We plan to invite two close friends with us next time so they too can experience this very special place. The Inn reminds me of the Bucks County we knew 40 years ago and could not help but notice how everything was designed for comfort and ease-from the easy parking to ample seating of room at each table. And everything about your inn was spotlessly clean and cared for-something that has been lost during these changing times. As an artist, seeing real local paintings properly hung and framed was a nice added touch of class."

  • "My wife and I celebrated our anniversary with one of the most exceptional meals in recent memory. The menu was very comprehensive and the meal was an outstanding combination of locally grown fruits and vegetables, and locally raised meat. The service was professional and freindly and the view of the river enchanting"

  • "We had Easter Brunch at the Pheasant and it was wonderful. Our server Yolanda was great. She really knew the menu and the support staff never let our water glasses empty. We drive over 40 minutes to get to the Pheasant but, it's worth the drive. We had the soup special and we each had a glass of champagne to start. The raw oysters came out nice and cold. The entree's were hot and tastefully prepared. The room was full with to many kids. Parents need to keep their kids in their seats and not running around and out of control. "

  • "We had Easter dinner at the Golden Pheasant Inn, and I had anticipated a fine meal. What we got was a very overpriced mediocre meal. I ordered a duck dish, which sounded much better than it tasted. It was four slices of fatty, luke-warm meat on top of wild grain rice and thin strips of pear. One of the slices was virtually all fat. I had expected a flavorful sauce, but the meal was very bland. My husband ordered a veal chop, which was priced at a whopping $45. He was disappointed. The service was friendly, but not particularly attentive. We will not be returning."

  • "Nice to have this wonderful historic and scenic restaurant back in full service, with even better food and wonderful renovated space. Rises to among the top Delaware River Restaurants!"

  • "The food was definitely excellent, no doubt. But our server was curt, acting the entire time like we were inconveniencing her. My husband's water was never refilled, and I had to ask other servers to refill mine. Most important, they had advertised the special prixe fixe Easter brunch on their site as going until 3, so when I made our reservation, I made it for 3 so we could have that. However, though we were sat at 245, we were told that brunch ended at 2. This was very frustrating, so I believe this cast a shadow over the meal. We were enchanted when we had Thanksgiving there in the fall, but I am certainly less inclined to go again now. "
