  • "This is our second vidit to the GP and I must say the food was tasty. You certainly cannot beat the setting. My only grumble is the cost if a glass of wine (up to $25). You might want to explore buying a bottle and take the leftovers home! BTW - the BBQ Pork Shank yummy!"

  • "We shared crab cakes for an appetizer and I had the scallops, my wife had roast duck for entrees. I've never seen such small portions anywhere in my life. I had (3) small scallops with tiny baby carrots and no starch served with it. The duck portion couldn't have been more than 2 oz tops. They certainly made a profit on us. Passed on $10.00 desserts as who knows the what that portion may have been. There was more food on the appetizer than the entrees. Will never go back there."

  • "The GPI is good considering it's location. The food is expensive relative to the portion sizes. And I think there is an opportunity to improve the food flavors, particularly with the fish offerings. The service is amateur and slow but well intentioned. The wine list is nice and the ambiance is quaint. The noise level is quite energetic, especially for anyone with hearing issues or that wears a hearing aid. I would recommend it to a friend if they were going to be in the area."

  • "Always a wonderful experience here.....excellent service by Yolanda, an extensive wine list and exceptional "farm to table" food. The Inn and candlelit ambiance are absolutely lovely. Highly recommend for a special occasion. They also have outdoor seating, a patio on the canal. We ate inside with a river view but the outdoor seating looked nice as well."

  • "The food was outstanding, but there was not enough staff to manage tables and I could hear waitresses complaining to one another and refusing further tables from the hostess. We waited about 20 minutes to get our first class of wine. Once served, the food was quite wonderful."

  • "This place is something special. First, if you are not from the area, the ride up the river is absolutely beautiful. The Inn is very nice. We had dinner for 6 outside. The outdoor seating is right on the tow path - but was private and quiet. They had a gentle jazz band playing that night - but still conducive to having a nice conversation with friends. Food was excellent. A bit pricey overall, but for a special night out - it was perfect."

  • "Venue was terrific. Entrees were wanting in quality and number of choices."

  • "The food was mediocre at best (and rather expensive) and the service, though pleasant, profoundly incompetent, clueless and slow. Definitely won't return."

  • "Where to start: Table by a window looking out on the Delaware, very comfortable seating, charming old stone building, Maria our server, and the very satisfying food. All top notch. Small things: food coming to the table hot and ready to eat, prepared in new and different ways without being fussy, fresh fish cooked perfectly to our taste (branzino for my wife---halibut for me), excellent cheese selection for dessert. My wife and I have lived in the area for 25 years and had not gone here. Now I doubt we'll wait 25 days to return!"

  • "My weekly visits to the Pheasant are nothing less then AWESOME. The staff is always so friendly, courteous and kind. The farm to table concept (especially this time of year) is nothing less than wonderful. Hats off to the Golden Pheasant for nothing less then the perfect place to dine."

  • "My wife and I went there for a quiet dinner to celebrate her birthday. Thought the ambience would be better than it was , not as cozy as I thought it would be indoors - I think the Black Bass Hotel is better, for example. I ordered a wine that was not in stock and then had to taste a couple of alternatives that weren't to my liking. My onion soup was fantastic and my scallops were very good. My wife's salad was also very good but the salmon was overdone. Service was a bit uneven - ie., no attention for long periods and then rapid fire at others. Probably would go back again but not one where there is a big urge any time soon. In summary, enough things didn't go as expected so the best we would rate the place is good."

  • "I could not have asked for a better brunch. The field green salad of local organic greens and cheese and the charcuterie plate of smoked pork, pheasant pate, duck mousse and some other things from area farms were perfect for a summer afternoon. Their sources from New Jersey and Pennsylvanian farms are impeccable. I should also add how good the wine list is; although, I chose a couple of pints of ale from 2 area breweries. While I find dining here great in every season, the variety and quality of fresh foods for summer are outstanding."

  • "The Golden Pheasant has been beautifully remodeled. Elegant and romantic. The food, with an emphasis on local, seasonal items is imaginative, attractively presented and delicious. The Duck turrine and tomato salad appetizers were superb and enough for a whole meal. Our group had halibutt, scallops and steak. All excellent. Of the desserts, the ice cream was the least satisfying. I'd try sweetpeaicecream.com. That said, we can't wait to return!"

  • "Wonderfully renovated and charming 1800's Stone Riverfront property. Warm interior dining with a very nice lit patio dining backside along the canal. Service was very good and the food was superb. A good choice year for year round dining.... and an excellent choice for a great summer evening experience along the water."

  • "We were a group of six for dinner on a Thursday night. We had requested sitting outside and they delivered. We had a table on the back terrace overlooking the canal on a beautiful summer evening. Our server was terrific- unfortunately I can't remember her name. Two in our group ordered from the tavern menu (salads, sandwiches and burgers), but the rest of us chose from the dinner menu. All of us were highly satisfied with our meals. An enjoyable evening in wonderful surroundings with good food and great friends!"

  • "We were so disappointed with our evening at the Golden Pheasant Inn. The food was just average. The duck was served on top of udon noodles and cimci. I realized it would not be a traditional duck dish, but medium duck turned to well done duck in an instant from the bowl of broth. Duck skin should be crispy and this was not. The duck was tender and flavorful but what a sin to do this to duck. Service was mediocre at best. It took 4 trys to get the wine we ordered, no soup spoon, had to ask for the coffee we ordered, etc. You get the picture. I have never heard more apologies for poor service. Don't apologize fix it."

  • "The Golden Pheasant always amazes me. Their food and service are consistent every time I go there. Kevin our bartender is knowledgeable and always makes suggestions about specials that are always delicious. Their farm to table concept makes sure that everything is fresh and tasty. I always look forward to my trips every week. Way to go Golden Pheasant..."

  • "We have lived in Bucks County for 32 years and now have a favorite number 1 spot! There are so many wonderful restaurants to choose from here, that until now we did not have one that had stood the "test of time" and remained at the top of the list as our favorite spot. The service was terrific, the food delicious, the ambiance really fresh and lovely, and the wine list truly the best in the area ... on par with any major city's finest restaurants. Can't wait to go back. Loved the local ties to wonderful foods from our area, too. Highly recommend the Golden Pheasant!"

  • "To celebrate a friend's birthday, we went to Golden Pheasant. He had onion soup, braised lamb shank and an apple-based cake for dessert. I started with a salad and had the scallop entre. We tasted one another's food and concluded that both of us were very lucky indeed. His soup was full of onions and cheese and the lamb shank was tender with natural juices. My salad featured pickled fiddle leaf ferns (a first for me) over a spring mix with wonderful tender leaves and a delicate dressing. The scallops were moist and had a great sauce with just a hint of lemon. The staff was very professional in explaining the local sources for the ingredients in our dishes. A totally wonderful experience!"

  • "Food was excellent. I had the halibut. The Inn is charming. We sat outside but the road noise was a bit much. It eventually died down but I would suggest sitting outside in the back instead of on the side"

  • "food at brunch was good......menu is a bit small for the price.....ate outside which is beautiful but too noisy with the bikers and bicyclists coming right beside you,a better place for dinner inside. server was not in the mood to be pleasant, did the bare minimum.........."

  • "We haven't been to Golden Pheasant in years and were looking forward to a nice meal. We shared a grilled Spanish Octopus with sea beans salad. The octopus was really undercooked, to the point of being inedible. We're Greek, so we know how octopus should be cooked. Our servant recommended it as the best on the menu. I would say not. I had the prix fixe which included a grilled wild red snapper - one of my favorite fish. The portion was really small, and the fish was very bland. It did not taste like any other red snapper I've ever had. All in all, a disappointing meal. There was a wedding that day -- maybe the kitchen was overwhelmed, but we were underwhelmed."

  • "First time visit this weekend..a lovely setting, the food was deelish. We shared oysters and a salad, the I got the soft shell special and my husband got the lobster special. Both were excellent. I'd definitely return. The service was okay, not perfect...felt like they could do with one more server or bus person."

  • "The Golden Pheasant is always consistent. I met a friend there for dinner and we had their oysters. As always they were wonderfully cold and tasty. I will keep coming back. I can't say enough good things about the Pheasant from the staff to the food. Keep up the good work."

  • "The setting to dine at The Golden Pheasant is just so peaceful, it is a lovely place to eat. Sitting outside along the canal is great- it doesn't get better than this! The menu offers a lot of choices from Tavern food to a fine dining menu. Overall though, the food is good but needs more "oomph".The mussels needed garlic and the red sauce was bland without it. The green acres salad was drenched in balsamic vinegar dressing which took away from the delicate ingredients. A simple lemon and olive oil would compliment it better, especially with how fragile the greens are. The "whale" soft shell crab was just a regular generic sized crab and it too was bland without garlic. With a few changes in seasoning, this place could really excel."

  • "The recent renovations of the inn are amazing; a wonderful and scenic place to dine on the Delaware river. The service was impecable, however, we were somewhat disappointed in the food. It was good but not great. We were hoping for a 5 star French restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. Would try again, though, as it's a beautiful spot to dine."

  • " The setting is really lovely. We were also happy that we could bring wine and pay a corkage fee. however, when we arrived we were pleasantly surprised by how high quality their wine list was so we ended up ordering theirs instead. The food, on the other hand, was very disappointing. For the first course we ordered salads and asparagus and watercress soup. The salads were good but the soups were bland and tasteless. For the second courses we ordered eggs benedict, lobster, crab cakes and soft shell crabs. My eggs benedict were not good: the sauce was overly thick and lemony and the bread was thick and doughy. The lobster was very average. The soft shelled crabs were overly fishy. The crab cakes were the best of the bunch."

  • "The restaurant has an undeniably lovely setting along the Delaware River and the outdoor dining area is very pleasant. However, the food lacks imagination and has no interesting presentation or flavors. The service was far too rapid, only a few minutes elapsed between courses and the dessert menus were stuck under our noses at the same instant as our main course plates were removed. The "strawberry" and rhubarb tart consisted undercooked rhubarb and strawberry gelatin, not an actual strawberry in sight unless you count the garnish. The "flakey" pastry was in fact a thick, dense short crust. If you are looking for good food I would definitely recommend The Frenchtown Inn just across the River."

  • "When I want a special night out with my husband I love to enjoy al fresco dining at the Golden Pheasant. The menu is always interesting, often including wild harvested mushrooms and fiddleheads in season as well as spotlighting local fish, meat, cheeses and wines. The service is very professional and friendly- outstanding really."

  • "My dining experience at Golden Pheasant has always been phenomenal, except this one time. I ordered the beef bone marrow and it was absolutely delicious, as was the ravioli; my girlfriend also really enjoyed her steak. As I expected, the food never disappoints at GPI, but that's where my good experience ended. Chris was our server and he was very bad at his job. He rushed through his telling of daily specials with a sigh and then was off, not to be seen for another twenty minutes. Chris was very unattentive and very disinterested in his job it seemed. Our bus boy, a younger blonde haired kid, was fantastic however and frequently checked in on us, making recommendations and refilling our water, all of which Chris didn't do once. Horrible."
