Gold Coast Grill -
Best Restaurants in Alameda
Big comfy booths, ambient
lighting, and some of the best service in the Bay. The food was delicious, and our waiter not only brought out several wines so my dining companion could taste them, they accommodated a dairy allergy with precision. Greek comfort foods, impeccable service."

The Gold Coast is our go to
restaurant for special occasions, or just a nice dinner. We have a number of fine restaurants in town, but return to the Gold Coast on a regular basis because of the quality of their ingredients, their preparation and service. Highly recommended."

We came to celebrate after my
daugher's senior year ballet recital! Grandmom, who is visiting from out of state and treating, wanted to go someplace nice and requested a steakhouse. We'll as we know, Alameda doesn't have a "steakhouse" but I did know where to go! Gold Coast Grill!! For some reason, we haven't been here many times, yet everytime we come we thoroughly ourselves. We started with cocktails: a Bourbon Old Fashion for Grandmom (which she raved about), a Cosmo for Mom n softdrinks for the teens. Next: Ceasar salads, house salads,3 orders of Rack of Lamb + a NY Steak (all prepared to perfection!); baklava, tiramsu, cheesecake and ice cream! Every item OUTSTANDING! Valerie's service = FABULOUS! We have to come here more! Try it!"

Besides being a neighborhood gem
of good Greek food and the Chefs' European specials, this place has the added bonus of a world class jazz pianist Tom Suczek, playing almost every Friday night. Really nice ambience, soothing improv jazz standards and great Greek food. I am hooked."
Dined on 6/13/2014
Braised Lamb was nothing special
and mostly fat, lumpy mashed potatos with nothing to elevate it considering the 20 dollar price tag. They over cooked my grandmother's Chicken Picatta she couldn't chew it. Fried Calamari was greasy and I preferred the wedge of lemon to the sauces they served with the dish. We felt rushed when their service crew begun clearing and resetting the table while we were still sitting there waiting for the bill."

We had a dellicious dinner at the
GOld Coast Grill. The food was excellent, the service lovely, and the five of us could have a conversation. I would definitely go there again for a nice dinner."
Dined on 6/7/2014
As always, everything about our
evening at Gold Coast was just right. I can't tell you how many times we've eaten there because I've lost count, but it is always a treat! It is one of our favorite places in the East Bay and our go-to place for the gathering of three couples who have been friends for many, many years. We know what we like, and we LOVE Gold Coast!"
Dined on 5/25/2014
This was our second visit. Gold
Coast is a quiet place to have a nice dinner...period."
Dined on 5/24/2014
Gold Coast grill is the perfect
restaurant. Certainly not a hot spot for a young crowd or kids. Which makes it a great scene for us. The food was excellent and not hidden under tons of butter or sauces. I could actually see and taste my meal. The staff is impeccable. They are courteous, polite, and only appear when the moment is right. The wine list isn't huge but has an excellent selection. The ambience is very nice. Older feel, but not shoddy. A pianist plays a variety of older pop material but at the ideal volume. The overall sound level is perfect for conversation. What a wonderful spot to eat and then hang out for drinks."
Dined on 5/9/2014
The restaurant has been sucessful
for 20 years because the owner cares about the food, its preparation and the service. All of which were very good. The dining room has an 80's decor, comfortable and quiet for extended conversations with friends & family. The wine list is good and prices are reasonable for the quality."
Dined on 5/8/2014
The Gold Coast is that perfect
neighborhood gem that draws you back time and time again. The waitstaff is friendly and professional and always make you feel welcome and the food is outstanding!!"
Dined on 4/18/2014
Food was "fair"; my friend and I
split the rack of lamb that everyone had talked about on Yelp. I was expecting a bit more in flavor.... the service was great though. Yes, they charged us $3.50 to split plates (noted on the menu), but they split the salad and rack of lamb for us, and the greek sampler was yummy too."

Picked Gold Coast Grill because of
location and the wonderful menu to celebrate our fathers 81st birthday. The service, food, atmosphere and overall dining experience could not have been better. Thank you to everyone who made our evening so enjoyable and memorable! We will definitely be back soon."

Friendly Greeting on arrival Food
was very flavorful, nice variety with something for everyone. Tables were set elegantly and it was not noisy like many restaurants other restaurants. They have a area for larger groups as well that we've enjoyed previously. Some very tasty desserts as well to satisfy all. A nice little treasure for an enjoyable evening"

Gold Coast is a long time local
place, friendly and good service. Patrons are on the mature end of the spectrum.. I enjoyed the seafood gumbo, the mussels, clams and shrimp. All were fresh tasting and the gumbo was overall very good, somewhat on the mild side. The ambience is quiet and a little dated, but comfortable. I enjoyed my meal and would have it again. Being a local and with so many choices in Alameda, I don't go to Gold coast often but find it an acceptable alternative for a quite good meal on occaision. Good food and very friendly service goes a long way to make the meal enjoyable. Gold Coast has those qualities and pretty good food to boot."
Dined on 3/8/2014
Overall decent, nothing was
incredible or even noteworthy. Good service though & quaint ambience."
Dined on 3/7/2014
We found this on open table and
decided to try it. It is right out of the 70's and is great. Back dining room is quiet front dining room a little noisier. Food was great and service was very good. Will definitely go back."
Dined on 2/15/2014
The Gold Coast remains an Alameda
favorite. The service is excellent professional and friendly. We dined this last Friday evening and I had the duck which was on the specials menu that evening, it was fabulous!! My husband had the lamb shank which was also excellent. Friday evenings we love the live piano. The Gold Coast remains an Alameda Jewel!!"
Dined on 2/21/2014
While this was our first time
dining here, it was evident it is a favorite with the locals. The wait staff knew most tables by name which gave it a charming feel. Our waiter was extremely attentive and very knowledgeable. Anything on the menu could be modified to your liking. The food while not spectacular was well prepared. The rack of the lamb was well cooked, above average. The chicken piccata was average but the portion was plentiful. The wine menu is boring but they serve the local Hangar vodka which is a plus. If you are in the neighborhood it is worth a visit."
Dined on 2/22/2014
What a treat to feel taken care
of. The waiter was very polite and totally took care of us. We never had to ask for a think and the wine glass was always with wine to drink in it."
Dined on 2/18/2014
Dinner was great at the Gold
Coast. The service was great. We were in no hurry and they let us just pace ourselves through the evening. Will definitely go back..."

Gold Coast Grill always has great
food, perfect service and a pleasant atmosphere. You can count on a perfect dining experience at the long-time Alameda establishment."

Overwhelmed on Valentine's Day
perhaps? I've been there once before on a random weekend night. t The food and service was better."
Dined on 2/14/2014
We really like to go to the Gold
Coast for a quiet, easy dinner. It is usually busy but it isn't loud and there is a pleasant calm atmosphere. The food isn't overly fancy but consistently good. Love their whole fish and lamb shanks. Octopus appetizer was great the night we went. The service is always friendly and the prices are fair. Great martinis."
Dined on 1/25/2014
I love the energy of this place.
Decent piano player on Saturday. The Greek lemon soup is not to be missed, as is the sampler as well. The meal was filling, tasty, and well prepared. I love this place."
Dined on 1/18/2014
My brothers and I went to the Gold
Coast Grill for dinner. The generous portion of spanakopita was delicious! The dressing on the caesar salad had the perfect amount of garlic. My brothers enjoyed the Greek salad, calamari, moussaka and fettucini with clams while I was pleased with veal scallopini. The owner is clearly proud of his restaurant, which is delightful to see. The service was not overbearing and was timed perfectly. The atmosphere isn't terribly exciting, but if you are looking for some delicious comfort food, this is the place for you. I would return in a heartbeat."
Dined on 1/13/2014
Really great food! Top quality
Greek cuisine with a great menu, excellent variety, everything we had (5 starters, no main course, and dessert) was perfectly prepare, especially the Spanakopita (mostly spinach rather than mostly filo), but the best was the gala-something, certainly in the top five of all desserts I've had in my 72 years. We'll be back!"
Dined on 1/13/2014
The food here is very tasty and
well prepared. The service is top-cabin and the environment allows you to enjoy the person you are having a meal with. If you do not eat there for a special reason, you'll leave feeling very special."
Dined on 12/31/2013
As I walked through the doors, I
could not help but imagine Sinatra dining there. This establishment has the look and feel of a classic Italian eatery on the East Coast. It is a throwback in time and makes one nostalgic for places like these. The food was delicious! I was not sure what to expect but everything was cooked perfectly. The swordfish was the highlight; most places overcook fish but not here. The lamb was also very good and well portioned. The service was top-notch, they run a tight ship. Overall, I would definitely return when in Alameda."
Dined on 12/31/2013
a VERY NICE AND COMFORTABLE PLACE
FOR GOOD FOOD AND SERVICE. THE OWNERS ALSO CONTRIBUTE TO LOCAL CHARITIES, ANOTHER PLUS"
Dined on 12/28/2013
I have lived around the corner
from this place for years and honestly I always thought it was closed. Its very unassuming from the outside and looks as though it were a restaurant of the past....long since closed down. Boy am I glad it isn't!! The thing is you cant see inside the windows from the street but once you walk through the doors you are greeted with a warm and inviting even upscale old boys club in a way, environment. The staff are super friendly and the food is delicious Greek fare. Get the Greek sampler, you'll be glad you did! I highly recommend you give Gold Coast a try next time your craving Mediterranean yumminess!"

It was fantastic! I am a nurse and
so I worked on Thanksgiving (at Stanford). My husband and I don't have any family nearby, so I set about trying to find someplace for 8:45pm on Thanksgiving...not easy. Gold Coast Grill was open until 9:30pm and so I took a gamble on somewhere I'd never been before. What a delightful surprise! It was a cozy, elegant, and relaxing atmosphere with WONDERFUL food! We chose the special Thanksgiving meal, which was phenomenal. I started with butternut squash soup (my favorite) and then had a delicious feast of a plate set before me! Turkey (light and dark meat), mashed potatoes, stuffing, green beans, sweet poatatoes, rolls...and then the very best (not hyperbole) pumpkin pie I have ever had."
Dined on 11/28/2013
The Gold Coast is one of the very
few restaurants in the East Bay that includes a Greek theme. This was a delightful alternative to Thanksgiving at home for us. The staff was very helpful in accommodating our two physically challenged guests and their service dog--a delightfully small, quiet and inoffensive pooch. Our meals--three traditional turkey dinners and one Greek--moussaka--were served in a timely fashion and our deserts--Delicious homemade pumpkin, pecan pies included in the Thanksgiving Specials and a slice of baklava--provided a nice end of the meal treat."
Dined on 11/28/2013
This restaurant tries to be more
than it is...a modest, medium level facility...certainly not worthy of the prices it charges. Waiter service was terrible...a wait for the entree after the salad...a wait for the bill...a wait to get the bill back."
Dined on 11/1/2013
The Gold Coast is one of the those
neighbor gem's that knows how to make their dinner guests feel welcome and appreciated. The service is always professional and friendly. Friday night my husband had the swordfish and I had the whole roasted sea bass. Both dishes were excellent and we highly recommend both. Friday evenings are always fun for the piano music. A great way to spend the evening!"
Dined on 10/25/2013
From the greeting at the door, to
the excellent service, to the fantastic food, everything was great! My husband loved the rack of lamb and the sea bass entre melted in my mouth. The appetizer, salads and desserts, as well, were all a taste sensation!"
Dined on 10/12/2013
The service was fantastic, the
food delicious, and the live piano music was great. Not a huge selection of wines, but what I tried was quite good. We will definitely go back again soon. Most people there were babby-boomer generation, but there people of all ages, including a couple children."
Dined on 10/18/2013
The service was impeccable as
always. The soup was great. My veal less so - it was thick and tasted more like thin sliced steak than veal. The veal is usually very good , so I don't know what happened this time"
Dined on 9/19/2013
The food, atmosphere & service was
amazing. We tried many different dishes including appetizers, soups, salads, entrees & desserts. They were all delicious. Price was very good for the quality! I highly recommend this restaurant and will go there again when we visit the area. The owner was in the dining room checking on tables & providing outstanding customer service!"
Dined on 9/7/2013
My husband and I went there with
another couple - we each had cocktails and they were good. I ordered grilled whole Sea Bream (I was told it was like Sea Bass) Greek style, from their daily special menu, and it was very good. It came with some vegetable, but no carbo. So I asked for some mashed potato and the waiter brought it out right away. My husband’s Roasted Rack of Lamb was also very good, and the portion was large, too. Our friends ordered Rib Eye steak and Grilled Sole and they were both happy with what they ordered. Overall it was a good dining experience."
