  • "Great specials ($5/dzn Appalachicola oysters on Wednesdays brought us back!), interesting cocktails, great atmosphere, Moscow Mules in frosty copper mugs. And delicious cornbread!"

  • "Out of towners on our own for the night and picked this restaurant at random from Internet. The grouper special and scallop appetizer special were out of this world. We would not have been disappointed if this meal had been served to us anywhere and we have some dining experience. If anything needed to be improved upon it was the wine selections, but that may have been our fault for the selections made. Server was very helpful in making recommendations and after posing a couple of choices she nailed the selections. Noticed a great looking lamb dinner on the next table and thought this place has it together. When in Atlanta again will be back!"

  • "Great neighborhood spot to grab a seafood dinner and a few cocktails. Waitress great but had to wait 15 min with reservation"

  • "This was our second experience and we thoroughly enjoyed the food and service. As new residents who have lived in Chicago, Philadelphia and coastal Florida, we can say with confidence that we've found a go-to favorite!"

  • "Not too many people around. Kids and adults loved the basket of banana bread, steak and egg, and shrimp and grits. Food was great, service was attentive and there were at least two other bigger groups with kids, and no issue with kids being kids (although nobody was loud). the only down side: the $25 reservation fee! I get this counted towards the bill at any other restaurant and it wasn't even needed. Walk-ins only in the future."

  • "Took my wife here for her birthday and several friends accompanied us. We had a reservation through Open Table so we were seated immediately. After being seated, the server was great! She checked on us regularly (but not too much) and provided good suggestions from the menu. The food and drinks were superb! This was our first time here but definitely won't be our last!"

  • "Took my boyfriend there for his birthday. We both love seafood and this just really hit the spot. Stuffed lobster is absolutely amazing"

  • "Definitely the freshest and best seafood I've had in a long long time! I've had the fish at King + Duke and KR Steakbar recently and those didn't hold a candle to Goin' Coastal. Halibut and crab dip were phenomenal. Highly recommend!"

  • "Need to poach the fish in the miso broth not bake which was overdone. Otherwise, mussels and salad were great!"

  • "Always enjoy my time here. Delicious and fresh seafood. The bowl is a must and the dip amazing!!!!"

  • "We had Sunday brunch here and it was amazing. Being from the coast i have found that in Georgia you get over-priced, over-cooked and under-whelming not very enjoyable seafood however, at Goin Coastal this was not the case. I had the shrimp and grits and it was not only really good, the shrimp to grits ratio was perfection. The shrimp were cooked just right and so were the grits. My son had the breakfast "burger" and he is a very picky eater who enjoyed every bite. We will definitely be back."

  • "The food is fantastic, very fresh and flavorful, but also unique recipes. I have been here several times and I, nor anyone I've been with, has ordered anything that was less than amazing. The atmosphere is great, can be good for meeting friends, a date, a special occasion. The service and feel of the staff is exceptional. I highly recommend!"

  • "Four of my friends and I enjoyed one of the best meals we've had in a long time! The food was phenomenal. I had the surf & turf with the filet and shrimp. I did have to send my beef back for a little extra grill time (I'm pretty picky about it being "just pink"), but it was by far the best cut of beef I've had in a while (it beat the Argentinian filet I had a couple of weeks back). Who woulda thunk a seafood place had the best steak around? The manager personally brought the filet back out to the table after it was sent back, and then he comped us two desserts for the trouble! What a great gesture on his part! And btw, if you haven't tried the desserts, put that on your list. They are exceptional. I preferred the key lime tart/pie."

  • "I've always loved the food, definitely a great seafood restaurant. However, it's no longer at the top of my list as I have been disappointed in the drinks since they they changed bartenders... watered down & lacking imagination."

  • "We went to this restaurant for Sunday brunch; it was our first time. We were seated quickly and the server came by promptly to take our drink order; explain the menu and tell us about the specials. I had the swordfish sandwich with sautéed spinach and my wife had the blue crab omelet. Both were served piping hot and were really delicious. We can't wait to try Goin' Coastal for dinner!"

  • "Our meal was a terrific and on a special night for us. The wait staff are knowledgeable and courteous. The food was outstanding in every way! We have not found any better seafood restaurant in the Atlanta area and there are many. Wondeful neighborhood setting in Virginia-Highland."

  • "My boyfriend and I were craving some seafood… especially some oysters. We weren't disappointed! We had a dozen oysters which were priced really well and absolutely awesome! We also had the alligator and their new flatbread which were both great. He had the surf and turf with stuffed lobster… the steak was cooked perfectly. I had the scallops with risotto which was a great dish and a huge portion. The key lime pie and new "Honey Bee" drink were the perfect ending to our evening!"

  • "Group of four of us went to Going Coastal. All four said it was the best seafood they ever had. Shrimp, Seafood Bowl, Monkfish, Crabcakes. All fantastic. The server was also very knowledgeable and very good at her job."

  • "This is my favorite seafood restaurant. The atmosphere is always lively but above all else the service outstanding. During the week I sit at the bar and the bar staff are extremely friendly and make it socially fun. During the weekend when I can get a reservation, the service has always been great and the food ( stuffed lobster, coastal fried three and salmon are my favorites)."

  • "A co-worker recommended this restaurant to me a while ago. I decided to take my husband to Goin' Coastal for a pre-birthday dinner. We had reservations for 7pm but had to push it back to 7:30 due to traffic and they were very accommodating. When we arrived we were seated immediately. We ordered the crab cakes for an appetizer, my husband ordered the blackened sea bass and I ordered the shrimp etoufee. Everything was amazing, fresh and well seasoned. We will definitely eat there again."

  • "Fabulous food, great recommendations for wine pairings, excellent service. Goin' Coastal is one of the few well-reviewed restaurants that we have visited recently which met and exceeded our expectations. Despite an initial glitch in service, the restaurant staff, most notably our server and the manager, were able to come back around and ensure that we had a great experience. Our first impression is very positive and we will certainly come back and recommend the restaurant wholeheartedly to others. Thank you!"

  • "We moved here from Chicago about 8 months ago and just cannot find any really good food (and we've tried). Goin Coastal is by far the best we've had here. Amazing seafood selection. Everything was fresh and hot (when it should be) and we were VERY happy to have a fun date night. Our server was adorable, cocktails were delicious....really cannot say enough good about this place. We'll be back - soon!!"

  • "Food is very good, nice portions and prices. I had the oysters and my wife had the snapper. My wife had the mixed vegetables and mashed potatoes with her snapper and both were very good. I had the fried oysters with spinach instead of fries. The oysters were crispy and delicious and not slimy like some. The spinach had a great flavor and was a nice compliment. The family style salad and cornbread were also a nice addition and delicious. Our issue was with the space. Be prepared for waiter butts in your face as they take orders from the tables next to you and hearing the conversation next to you. This is not the place for a romantic seafood dinner. If you want that, go to Atlanta Fish Market."

  • "Overall it was a fun spot - the Blood Orange Mojito's were fabulous. The alligator was great, the cornbread was moist and both of us enjoyed our meals… Overall it was a nice place to dine but it was a bit expensive. I felt like the cornbread and the salad were fillers to make up for the high prices. I would rather cut those out and lower costs just a bit. But still it's a great place, love the sustainability part and will definitely come back, just not as often as I could with the money that I'm making."

  • "Have lived in eth area about a year and decided on a whem to try this for dinner one night this week. Had heard alot of good thinks about the place but wanted to see for ourselve. Arrived at 5:45 on a Wednesday, seated right away. Service was fantastic and the food could not have been any better. Really enjoyed our table at the front in the window. Had a great time and will definately head back there JT , our server, was great."

  • "Our table sent back two out of three entrees. The server insisted that I order my tuna on the side of the miso broth it was served in (saying that otherwise the tuna sits too long and gets overcooked), then the fish was ice cold from not being in the broth. My boyfriend's fish was dry as a bone. It's a very loud restaurant and the service just isn't all that good. I understand waiting for cocktails, but even a glass of wine took a long time. The prices would indicate a better level of food and service. It's unlikely I would ever go back."

  • "I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Goin Coastal. The food is consistently great and the service wonderful. My friend had the maine lobster, crab legs, and lamb chops. I had the special of the day which was grouper with clams and vegetables. The food is always fresh and perfectly seasoned. I look forward to returning."
