Diner Reviews
  • "We went for lunch, it was empty yet service was notably slow and inattentive. We both ordered seared tuna rare. It arrived hard and overcooked. Perhaps because it sat undelivered to our table for many minutes? Took a long time to get our waitress, then a longer time for her to return with the offer of cooking another piece. When it arrived properly seared rare, it was quite good. But we ate it alone as we had long before finished the Niçoise salad it came with. We ate it from the tiny bare salad plate on which it was served. Also, ambience is only suited to evening and crowds... Dark and cavernous."

  • "6 of us had Sat. night reservations. We were shown to a perfect table, round and set away from the center of the room. Our server was friendly and answered our questions. We just wondered why she didn't ask if we wanted to place any drinks orders. We had to ask. The food was very good, but maybe not the best. The fresh oysters were excellent. The salmon good. Both orders of scallops were delicious. Salads were big and beautiful. The desserts were delicious. We had a creme brulee, a cookie sundae and two flourless chocolate cakes. I'm sorry I'm not more informative, but we were chatting non-stop and didn't mention the food. I let a friend order the wine, so I didn't see the selection."

  • "Reception at the check in desk was awful felt like they did not really care whether we were there. Food was average, not upto reputation. Fish was over fried . The waitress was good"

  • "This restaurant is up and down for us. This visit the service was okay, but could have been much better. The food was very good and the oysters were excellent. The prices are very good for the area."

  • "We really enjoyed the setting by the sushi bar. It was quiet and relaxing. We started off with Sushi, the shrimp tempura (a special they had) was very good, but we would not order the California roll again. The fish tacos were tasty but had a little too much cole slaw that over powered the flavor of the fish. I choose to eat here because they offer a raw bar, it was great! Service was very good! We are going to try to eat here again & get entrees instead of sushi next time!"

  • "The food was good - although the sushi cuts were very small. In general it was a solid but not outstanding restaurant. We were a bit surprised to find our bill for two people had jumped to $100 (no drinks) - which was a result of the appetizer section being very - well - appetizing. The place is huge and you feel it in the service. We were promised bread twice before it finally showed up alongside our appetizers. I expect more for that kind of check but if you're at Old Mistick and want a seafood dinner, it's a solid option."

  • "My cornmeal scallops were a little bit dry. Margarita wasn't great. The atmosphere is wonderful and the service was outstanding. I wish the food would live up to the surroundings."

  • "My husband and I went to Go Fish because we had a Groupon and we were very pleasantly surprised! The food was excellent, especially the sushi and I'm not a real fan of Sushi. Definitely will go back!"

  • "Easy to get a table, they are set up to handle a large crowd and so the atmosphere is cavernous. Food was okay, not great. Waitress was attentive but the food took a long time to arrive. Not one of my favorites."

  • "We made reservations online. Upon arrival we found out that there was a seperate sushi dining area and regular dining area. Our reservations were for the regular dining area only, if we wanted the full sushi menu there was a wait. I was the only one who wanted sushi & didn't want to make the other 3 in my party wait. The hostess said the 4 most popular sushi items were available in regular dining. Our server was friendly enough, although he failed to tell us until he came to take our order that they were out of steak, cod and haddock. Two of those items had already been chosen as meal choices at our table. The menu is limited to begin with so there wasn't much to choose from at that point. The popular sushi dishes were disappointing."

  • "We have been down in the area a million times and have driven right by this place. Located in Mystic Village it really doesn't look like much from the outside, which was why we stayed away. However, there were some good reviews so we thought we would try it. We started with the muscles which were in a light, tasty broth. Things were off to a great start. I had the lobster stuffed sole. It was excellent and very light. Many places add too much butter and bread stuffing. Not here, this was a light dish and perfectly seasoned. Oh, and the pre-dinner drinks were perfect. The server was right there when we needed her, every time! Great service and food!"

  • "We came for lunch on a Saturday in the middle of winter, so the restaurant was pretty empty, but the service and food were terrific! Delicious chowder and lobster bisque, loved the salmon burger, and the salad that came with it was perfectly dressed. My husband got the fish tacos, which were light and flavorful. We'd definitely go back!"

  • "Go Fish is all about fish. On my recent visit, Arctic Char was on the menu. This is a fish seldom seen on menus. It tasted so fresh and was cooked perfectly to my specifications. My friend ordered the same and was equally pleased. Our server did an excellent job of explaining this fish. For those with smaller appetites, small portions were available on many items. The wine selection is very good and there is something in all price ranges. For seniors (like us), Sunday is a great day to dine at Go Fish when seniors (with ID) 62 and over, get 25% off their bill. How good is that?! I might add that we also had excellent service."

  • "First time here and I will definitely be back. Food was beautifully prepared and presented. Portion was very satisfying. I started with a perfectly sized salad with pears, bleu cheese and carmelized walnuts. Followed that with salmon over sauted greens and was totally pleased with the lightness of the sauté.Yum! Server was pleasant and attentive. A very nice, relaxing dining experience."

  • "While the food at Go Fish is excellent, you will spend quite a bit and walk out hungry. The portions are small, and the prices are large. We were disappointed with the service. The waitress seemed to treat us as an afterthought. We ordered oyster stew, which was served in very shallow bowls that were more suited to be dishes. The soup was not only cold, it was very skimpy, but cost $12.50. It should have been served immediately, but we think our waitress did not serve it because it was cold. We also did not get any bread on our table, and watched as other servers had food on the tables of patrons who had arrived after us, including serving them bread. Overall, we were exceedingly disappointed with our choice of restaurants that night."

  • "It was Mystic Restaurant Week and Go Fish was again the place place to Go Eat. For $20.13 we had soup or salad, a hearty entree and a delicious dessert. Dishes included baked scallops, seafood pasta and and a tasty fish. Fine service even though the restaurant and bar dining areas were both packed."

  • "I had a lovely lunch there recently. The server (Russ) was very friendly and helpful with our dining choices. I had the local Niantic oysters and a very good martini followed by the lunch special which included baked haddock, potatoes and a veggie. All in all a very nice meal in a nice atmosphere. I would definitely go again."

  • "Great night at Go Fish during Mystic Restaurant Week 2013. Upon arrival, the hostess asks if you will be ordering sushi, whether to sit you close to the sushi bar or not. Since we were participating in Restaurant Week, we were sat by the bar. We had to wait a while to get menus and then again some more to get our order taken. A lady, who appeared to be the manager ended up taking our order; she must have noticed we looked like we had been waiting some time. Great selection of foods. We had salad as appetizer, no complaints. Entrees were seafood pasta and sea scallops, both delicious. Desserts were warm apple crisp ala mode and a rum raisin rice pudding. Delicious dinner; will be back again!"

  • "The modern art on the walls and open seating arrangement provide an elegant setting of modern decor. My wife enjoyed her entree of salmon on greens very much. My little neck clams were disappointing. The presentation was very bland: white clams in a light-colored broth with white potato cubes and yellow corn kernels; only the andouille sausage provided any contrast. Unfortunately the taste followed the eye. The dish was bland and run-together except for the bites with the sausage."

  • "You'd think a seafood restaurant in a coastal setting would offer some local fresh fish or at least a "catch of the day." No luck here. The haddock my wife and I had was obviously frozen. It was also so overcooked it was tough and tasteless, smothered in greasy breadcrumbs in an effort to disguise its blandness. The house salad was pretty good, though."
