Diner Reviews
  • "The restaurant is lovely, the front door staff welcoming. But...the accoustics are terrible. It was hard to hear my friend across the booth and it was only 2 of us at 12:30 lunchtime (and I am not hard of hearing). I would not return with a group of 4 -- Not conducive to interacting, good for eating delicious salad. The room downstairs is gorgeous."

  • "Our table was short of cutlery and soup spoons. Both strip steaks were overcooked and dry. Something in the vegetable mix was way over salted which was extreamly disappointing as we have been to other of Rose Reisman establishments. This writer had been to Glow previously shortly after opening and our experience lead us back to celebrate a colleagues success however we were left annoyed and troubled. No one ever came to offer us a second cup of coffee and the first cup was lukewarm. We never saw a waiter and literally had to flale our arms in the air to attract attention to pay the bill. This group of executive women will not be back."

  • "The early bird dinner special is a great idea. We were headed downtown for a show. Service was fast and friendly. Unfortunately we all had the beef dish and ithe meat was very tough to chew. Good flavor but the dish needs better quality meat."

  • "Excellent brunch - food excellent -service not so good. Had to wait a long time for coffee, cream etc. We were always looking for the waiter. Food that had run out was not replaced very quickly. Have been here twice for Brunch service much better the first time. Atmosphere very noisy."

  • "Food was average. Expected more of a selection based on the online menu. Only one type of pasta was served with four salads to choose from. Reservation was at 2 pm towards the end of the buffet hours (3 pm). Buffet was replensihed once during the final hour even though guest were still arriving. Several buffet items were cold/lukewarm. Tablecloths around the buffet were covered in food. Dessert selection described in menu as "glow mini indulgences -daily selections" was spared (dry frosted carrot cupcakes). Items listed were not available french toast, sweet potatoe hash. My dinning experience did not do Rose Reismen reputation justice. For a few dollars more I could have had a more satisfing brunch experience elsewhere."

  • "Nice mix of options for those with different food preferences...and allergies. Most of the group really enjoyed their meal. We had a group of 6. 2 individuals didn't really like their food - the steak sandwich and a florentine eggs benedict. Both were less than impressed...however, the rest of our group enjoyed our food. Service is nice, but somewhat slow to check back to see if you need anything."

  • "I go there more often than not - and always enjoy the food and drinks. My favourite glass of wine I've had there, and a VERY good Caeser. But to be honest, I have always found the service to be problematic. On our last visit, or server was very communicative - but I felt it was all from script. Overall, we didn't find the staff very smiley - and wondered if they were unhappy to be there!"

  • "We are the three amigos: we go out for dinner every few weeks and one of us chooses the restaurant. I've been to Glow a number of times and was enticed by its $15 menu. Expected it to be good. In fact it was wonderful. the presentation of our meal was impressive, the taste was perfect and our waitress was attentive but not intrusive. Looking forward to another visit."

  • "Excellent venue for Sunday brunch -- good variety, good food and good ambiance. A wonderful opportunity to enjoy the day!"

  • "Menu items were great, but lacking slightly in quality. Lobster bao bun was proportionally too large for the filling, masking the crispiness of the shallots. Crab cakes were slightly soggy in the center, compared to fried exterior. Lobster mac and cheese was drier compared to same item at Glow Express. The Asian black cod seemed to lack Asian flavor (e.g. we love miso marinated black cod at at small sushi restaurants for 1/3 the cost), falling bland compared to side items. Still love the restaurant due to the healthier, locally sourced menu items, ambiance and location, but wish the food items could be improved. Mini dessert items had good selection and perfect portion. Also, kids will enjoy the Wikki sticks, a nice change from crayons."

  • "We went for a birthday brunch and all of us went for the buffet. It had a wide variety of foods hot and cold. Servers were great and attentive. No coffee cup and water glass ever went empty on their watch. The only negative thing that I can say was that, as a vegeterian, I didn't appriciate the blatantly dead, whole salmon, head and tail and all displayed in the buffet and how you could literally pick the meat off its body. Not appetizing at all."

  • "I have been at this restaurant maybe five times at various times and have always enjoyed the experience. The staff are helpful and courteious. I recently met two other friends all of us are conscious of wise food choices hence the reason to come here. Keep it up."

  • "There is a great feeling in this restaurant; vibrant but not loud and you can have a nice conversation without straining to hear. I had the bunless turkey burger and it was DELICIOUS! Service is great and everyone is friendly. I have been here several times both for lunch and dinner and enjoy both although it is a bit louder at dinner time. Love it for lunch! Plan to try Brunch soon. I live in the neighbourhood and this is my 'go to' place. There is always something interesting and delicious on the menu."

  • "Had a delightful evening catching up with an old friend. Wait staff was patient, considerate, informative and helpful. Food was delicious but arrived a little on the cool side. Sumptuous dessert choices. Otherwise, a spectacular evening! Meal prices were reasonable."

  • "The all-you-can-eat brunch is far from a deal. The quality of the food on display is mediocre at best, and the fact that you have to hustle to get it through big crowds does not exactly make for a relaxing brunch experience. Definitely overpriced. For an $18 brunch I could have eaten a beautiful, very filling meal elsewhere. Highly disappointing."

  • "My daughter and I go to the Glow once month on Sunday to have a branch and go shopping. Since Glow started the buffet on Sunday, there are less staff and food quality went down. We won't go back to Sunday branch until the restaurant starts serving a la carte."

  • "This lunch menu is not very attractive to older customers. Some of us are looking for a light and interesting meal. We didn't find it easy to make our selections and ended up modifying one of the choices. This was handled very well, but it was an expensive alteration. Also, the noise level on this visit, as on previous visits was high, making it difficult to have a conversation."

  • "An elevated booth for two couples who had a lot of chatting to do worked very well. Our waiter was excellent and always close by when we needed him. Two of our party decided to choose from the Steak Menu and weren't disappointed. They were pleased with all the choices available for their two sides - also choice of sauce. Steak was excellent. The other two Main courses were a Beef Tenderloin Stir Fry and the Santa Fe Salad Bowl..... both excellent. We each chose a Mini Dessert from a tray presented by the waiter. The food quality and presentation was excellent and everything arrived just as we asked. This is our 3rd or 4th time at this restaurant and we keep coming back. Can't wait to enjoy the outdoor patio."

  • "What happened here? We are frequent customers and loved the regular brunch menu. Omelettes were done to perfection, scrambled eggs a delight and their cheese blintzes were amazing. Now I know that change is good but in the case of doing a SUNDAY BUFFET BRUNCH with an egg station ( where you receive burnt omelettes) and a minimilistic enidible selection of breads (toast it yourself) and other nondescript brunch selections, this change was NOT for the better. We used to enjoy being served, if we wanted to make it ourselves we would simply buy fresh bagels and shmear and stay home. NOT going back on a Sunday that's for sure. The only plus that was a welcome change to this place is that they FINALLY canned the annoyingly loud JAZZ music."

  • "And decided to get a group of friends together for dinner out on a Saturday night, and decided on Glow for its healthy menu. Food was good, wine list was extensive, and service was good, BUT........... We didnt break out of the doldrums! Glow was DEAD the Saturday night we were there - barely a buzz. Now it was February and snowing so that might have held people back but we were a little disappointed. People were actually watching the hockey game on the big screen TV's because they were bored! (why was hockey playing, anyways, this is supposed to be a nice resto not a sports bar) I hope Glow gets its groove back - its filling a niche for fine dining meets healthy eating!!"

  • "Food and service was second rate. An extra $34 was added to the bill....one has to be careful of certain restaurants where mistakes in their favour appear on the bill, perhaps Glow is one of them."

  • "This is my fifth dining experience at Glow, and I'm not sure why I keep coming back. The food is always sub-par. On this occasion, I had their flatbread. It was burnt at the bottom, and too dry, clearly overdone (cheese was bordering on crusty, and chicken was dry). Last time I was here, I had the Philly cheesesteak (or their equivalent) and it was a bit dry as well. In the past, I have also had mediocre service (too slow), and food that was under-seasoned."

  • "Pleasant brunch with friends. The relaxing atmosphere was shattered when a group of ladies occupied the next tables and were very loud in their greetings. The perfume scent was very powerful. Their arrival was at the conclusion of our meal so it did not spoil the breakfast. Overall a nice outing. The coat check is a bonus."

  • "We went to the restaurant last weekend with a group of 10 (including 3 kids). This was our first time trying the brunch buffet. There wasn't a lot of selection and the food was sub-par. The scrambled eggs were average, the french toast was made with a multigrain baguette (which sounds healthy) was really tough and dry and the sliced brisket (even though it was soaking in sauce) was really dry. While the atmosphere is kid friendly, they charged $9 each for the kids and there wasn't anything kid friendly for them to eat. For the price you are better off going somewhere else."

  • "I've been to Glow restaurant many times in the past. They attempted to do a Family Day brunch, as opposed to offering their standard menu. Big fail. The brunch was horrible - food was dry, tasteless and a horrible selection. We went with a group of 7 people, and none of will be recommending our friends."

  • "Upon arrival we were immediately greeted. Being Valentines Day, they were quite busy so being acknowledged immediately was impressive. Once seated our waitress greeted us, introduced herself and explained the menu options. We needed sometime to think the menu over. Who I think was a manager came to our table to ensure we were being taken care of (which we were). He answered a couple questions and took our order upon making some special alterations to my order. All in all everyone made our night absolutely amazing and would definitely go back and recommend to friends and family. Great service and very accommodating!"

  • "Came here with a group of 10. The service was excellent - very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious - lobster mac and cheese is a true gem on the menu and the crab cakes were phenomenal as well. The grilled calamri was good, but on par with many other places so hard to rave over it; came served with olives and capers which was definitely a nice touch. Overall, the entire group was satisfied and would definitely come here again."

  • "The restaurant has a nice ambience and location, but avoid it on busy occasions, such as Valentine's Day."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "Perhaps I had set my expectations a bit too high for a valentine's day meal. The mussels were under cooked, all the other dishes were delivered cold. The crab was filled with everything but crab. The restaurant was not overly busy when we arrived, so the chef must have had a bad day. But it would not be unreasonable to expect my food to be warm and cooked properly next time."

  • "Quick service, great staff, good price! We got there at right around with our reservation at a later time and were accommodated. The grilled calamari was fantastic and priced well! The environment, though not suited for a romantic evening is very good. I would come back again!"

  • "Glow is one of our 'go to' restaurants for a nice meal, in the mid-price range. In summer they have a nice patio that looks over the 'main square' at Shops on Don Mills; this night we watched the skaters. They offered a fixed prix menu for Valentine's Day that provided sufficient variety. We ordered the watermelon-feta salad and steak. The salad was refreshing but tiny with just a hint of feta. The presentation of the main course was lovely and the steak was adequate, though not wonderful. Our waiter was attentive without being overbearing and at no time gave us the impression we should hurry because they needed the table. Their tiny desserts are always a highlight and the wine was good. Overall, a very pleasant evening."
