  • "I had been to GG once before but when my mother was here this past week, I realized that this would be a good place for us to go. She ordered the 1/2 Filet meal and loved it! I got the special that night, Rockfish. I'd never had this before and really loved it. I do wish I could remember our server's name but alas, it has faded. He was very helpful when making decisions and knew the menu well. Also the wine that we paired with our dinner. I will definitely let others know what a great dining experience we had here. Thank you."

We were surprised that there was no chicken entree available on the menu although our waiter said chicken could be added to any salad. Although it was not that busy when we arrived (6pm), our waiter seemed always busy elsewhere so we had to wait and wait for basic items like sweetener or straws when requested. Would have loved to sit outside as those tables looked inviting also. Great place to eat with friends."

  • "I've lived in Raleigh for 6 years and just now made it to the Glenwood Grill. I wish that I'd ventured there sooner. The atmosphere was lively, yet cozy. The flavors of the food were spot on and unique. I had the muscles and filet. Each were done perfectly. The homemade bread served first is reminiscent of a grandmother's home cooking. It was delicious! The wine list is a bit pricey. The least expensive bottle was $38."

  • "We've been trying to get to the Glenwood Grill for some time now. So maybe the anticipation of what we read about it set our expectations. Our food was OK, not good or great. It was as though our entrées were sitting for a while too long under a heat lamp and somewhat dried out. I was expecting white table clothes from this quality of a restaurant, which made the ambience less than I'd hoped. The service was fine but overall the place just wasn't memorable for me."

  • "From the moment you get welcomed by the host until the last bite of dessert Glenwood Grill is a great place to eat. We started with a Caesar salad and She Crab Soup. Both were very good. The yeast rolls are also soft and melt in your mouth. We had the salmon and the Carpetbagger and they were cooked to perfection. Finished by sharing a creme Brûlée and that topped off a perfect meal. Our server, Bryan, was spot on. This was the second time we've eaten here and both times were excellent. You won't be disappointed."

  • "We LOVE Glenwood Grille! We've been there three times now and each time was perfect from our first steps in the door until we left feeling fat and fabulous. The Seafood Grits and the She Crab Soup are favorites of mine, but I've tried several other dishes and each one was more wonderful than the last. We sat at tables for dinner twice (had Kevin both times) and at the bar for dinner once (bartender was very knowledgeable and friendly). I want to say something about our server, Kevin, in particular. His service was the perfect balance of non-intrusive but available as well as being great at taking care of our needs before we even had to ask. I highly recommend him. All in all, a beautiful and vibrant evening. Thanks again!"

  • "The staff were so flexible, I had to increase the amount of guests 2 times. The servers were attentive and polite and handled the large crowd w/ ease as well as a one year old too! I think one guest had to send her scallops back (under cooked) but everyone said they loved their meals, we had steak, salmon, salad, lobster mac + cheese, fish, crab cakes, and wonderful bread. The guests who arrived early said one staff gave great wine recommendations. All the deserts were wonderful, my husband's cake was free for his birthday."

  • "And I don't know what all of the hype is about. The restaurant is small so expect a cramped dining experience. The menu offers a nice selection of southern style food with attractive presentation. With the exception of the parmesan oysters which were exceptional, our entrees ( flounder and striped bass) were unseasoned and bland. Service was extremely slow and our waiter, John, was not very cordial. We were expecting a much better food and service experience given the reviews but would probably not go hear again given all of the great dining options in Raleigh."

  • "I found this place on Yelp - a few pages in. We were looking for a nice place to celebrate my husband's birthday while visiting our daughter at NC State. The PEI mussels and fried green tomato appetizers were superb. The filets and parmesan oysters in the "carpet bagger" were deliciously tender, flavorful and done exactly to order. Our daughter loved the she crab soup and her fresh garden salad. We had cobbler and creme brûlée along with a delicious local coffee for dessert and they were all fabulous. The atmosphere was that of a neighborhood favorite for a more mature crowd. The service was excellent and very friendly. We will not hesitate to return."

  • "This place is fantastic. I called in advance to ensure that casual attire was okay and was met with an unhesitant yes. We were greeted by a friendly host and the ambience here is classy, but not stuffy. Everyone seemed to be relaxed and enjoying themselves. I had a very nice glass of Four Vines Cab Franc. The lobster mac and cheese is fabulous! I ordered the pork osso bucco with butternut pecan risotto which was delectable! The meat was perfectly cooked, falling of the bone. Creme brulee is one of my favorite desserts. It is on the menu at many establishments on par with this one, but it's often just "okay" and rather disappointing. Their Grand Marnier creme brulee does not disappoint. Highly recommended all around!"

  • "The wife and I were very pleasently surprised when we decided to have a late dinner after visiting our daughter. Being not from Raleigh, we almost missed the little mall that the Grill is located at, drove by the entrance the first time... The menu is about to go through a bit of rotation, due to seasonal availability , but there are some key standards on the menu that are very intriguing. The two negatives I have are; that even late in the evening the noise level is rather loud with only 4 tables occupied, the major noise contributor is the bar area (very active bar). The other complaint is that wine list doesn't necessarily line up with the menu. Desserts very good and very large, enough to share between two adults. Enjoy."

  • "My husband and I ate a Glenwood Grill on Valentines Day, and it was the best meal we've had in a long time. We were seated promptly, and cordially. The restaurant was serving a limited menu for Valentine's day, but it looked like a full menu to me. There were plenty of excellent options to choose from. My husband had the she-crab soup, and I had the corn and shrimp bisque. Both were wonderful, as was the crab cake appetizer. My husband's carpet bagger was excellent...he said you could have cut the steak with just a fork. I had the filet and butternut squash risotto, which was also excellent. Overall, the food was perfect, the service was top notch, and best of all, the restaurant wasn't chaotic on Valentine's Day. Highly recommended!"

Seared tuna and oysters Rockefeller appetizers were out of this world delicious as was the entree paella, and the crab and scallops.   • "We were disappointed we waited around and could not get a reservation to one to the "valentinesy" steak and seafood places we had in mind and ended up with few choices. We had never been to the Glenwood Grill before. I have live in Raleigh/Cary area for about 28 years and I enjoyed this meal as much as any meal I have had here. My wife and I recently went to Second Empire and we both thought the food at Glenwood Grill was very comparable (not quite the ambiance, but not quite the bill either). Everything we had (appetizers, scallops over grits with lump crab meat and a corn relish, and the 3 fruit cobbler) was fabulous. Can't wait to get back and try some of their everyday menu items."

The crowd was considerably an older scene and the food was good not great. Ambience was also pretty vanilla. I would not rush to go back, but could see myself going in for another try.   • "The Glenwood Grill has been around forever. They have been around for so long you forget they are there. Maybe they should change their name and get some press. The food was better than ever this last visit. Portion size used to be an issue, but there must have been 8 oz of Catfish on the Catfish and Pimento Grits dish. Lots of southern flavor. There were a lot of risotto's and grits with the dishes, so this is comfort food for a cold night. Great food, good portions, lots of favor at a fair price. There is a lot to like here and we plan to return sooner rather than later."
