The cuisine emphasizes hearty meat, pasta and seasonal dishes utilizing meats, poultry and produce farmed locally or from across the country from farms practicing sustainable farming methods and celebrates the joys of artisanal cooking. Even the takeout containers are compostable and made from sugarcane rather than petroleum based plastics.

Glen Prairie’s menu is designed to emphasize seasonal ingredients to showcase a variety of American flavors. The restaurant team shops local farmers' markets several times a week to source fresh ingredients.

Diner Reviews
  • "Went for the Easter Brunch. The menu looked good on paper...small selection. Needed to have a fruit table. Desserts table looked like it was purchased from the Jewel down the street. We were in a conference room. We would probably go back to see how the restaurant menu is."

  • "Wasn't worth the price. The food selection was minimal. They ran out of prime rib at 1pm. No fruit, or potatoes outside of fried and the bottomless mimosas were straight OJ they served twice if you were lucky. Would not return or recommend to a friend."

  • "We ate here almost a year ago and it was great! Great service and great food. This time, the service was still excellent, but the food was disappointing. It wasn't nearly as memorable and wasn't anything special. I was very bummed as I remembered this restaurant so fondly from last time."

  • "Great organic food. Had the pike and it was cooked perfect. Mushroom risotto was amazing."

  • "my sister and brother and I went for my birthday lunch this week. I had a very good cobb salad and great pomegranate iced tea. The warm chocolate chip cookie with vanilla ice cream was awesome!"

  • "The chef takes food allergies and sensitivities seriously and will speak to you directly by phone before you arrive if you want t make sure your meal meets your needs and is delicious! Gourmet cooking using organic, healthy, and locally grown foods! Great special wine/food nights and special menus. Management is warm and engaged. Excellent servers - especially Chella! This is our favorite restaurant!"

  • "Really enjoy this little gem of a restaurant hidden away in a Holiday Inn. I highly recommend the beet bruschetta; fabulous blend of red and golden beets, arugula, goat cheese. We had scallops with mushroom risotto, which were great. And short ribs with whipped sweet potato and grilled Brussels sprouts. The mini desserts are nice; just enough to satisfy. Server was again outstanding."

  • "We were looking for an organic restaurant for a birthday dinner - this restaurant did not disappoint. Food was exceptional, only drawback is that the restaurant is loud and made it a bit difficult for conversation. Otherwise, no complaints. We'll definitely be back."

  • "LOve the food here. They locally source and have organic when possible. Great beer and wine selection. A great place for adults but there are also families with kids."

  • "I used to go here frequently, always enjoyed it, but somehow they slid off my radar screen for a while. My friend and I were looking for someplace to eat and catch up, have a little wine, and Glen Prairie came back to mind. They did not disappoint! Trudie was our server. She remembered us from a past visit. Delightful English accent, and attentive server. We had a bruschetta appetizer with arugula, gold and red beets, goat cheese, and I don't know what else; all I know is it was FABULOUS! Followed by a kale and apple salad -- very good -- and the halibut special. Outstanding! Many of the desserts are offered in a tasting size, which is perfect. We had a cigar zinfandel with dinner that was excellent. I highly recommend this place"

  • "One of the places I can eat that isn't downtown. If I am not up for the driving and the parking I head straight to Glen Prairie for some well prepared and thoughtful food."

  • "Delicious food . All natural and fresh ingredients. Most items can be Gluton Free at a cost. Cost is a bit high, and service is very slow, so make sure you provide a few hours when dining."

  • "Good food, decent prices, not too crowded on a Saturday."

  • "Had the duck tacos as an appetizer than the pork belly and a bacon blue burger. The tacos were great, the pork belly was exquisite. So tender there was no need for a knife. Well priced, quality ingredients and great atmosphere. Will go back soon."

  • "My girlfriend and I stopped by Glenn Prairie when she was in town visiting me in the west suburbs of Chicago. She's huge into humanely and locally raised food, so I won some points here! I got the bison steak and she got the salmon - both fantastic dishes. The unexpected highlight was the rustic hummus. Simple delicious. They come with veggies and these little pita "donuts" - definitely not the most healthy but I mean, come on, these were just insanely tasty. I probably ate too many as I filled up before my meal, but hey, what can you do. All in all a great experience and will be heading back there for A) the free appetizer coupon they gave us for next time (see, more hummus, yes!) and B) some more great food and quality, caring service."

  • "We were going to a concert in Aurora and were looking for a different place to eat on the way along the I88 corridor. What a wonderful find! Fresh local food prepared skillfully. Very tasty. Reservation was honored even though others were waiting. Service was fast and efficient. Don't let the location scare you away. Normally restaurants in hotels aren't worth the effort. This is a wonderful exception."

  • "We sat in the bar area- very busy and a TV was on. The set-up we were at was a round table- too big for two- had trouble hearing each other. Turned out lots of groups came in after us before a local high school dance- daughters and dads. Food was great. Split a salad- one entree pasta the other skirt steak. Excellent decaf coffee. Next time we will sit away from bar on other side of wall. We have been here multiple times and the food has been consistently great."

  • "Found this restaurant on Open Table! The farm to table menu is something we like to take advantage of. It did not disappoint. We had the Espresso rubbed pork tenderloin and Pike. Both were fabulous. The mac and cheese is a dish they are known for and came with the fish. Very good! Great drink menu and service. We will be back!!!"

  • "Valentines dinner. Abbreviated menu including a fixed price 3-course meal. I had Baked Oysters with bits of bacon (superb), a very good chile braised beef shortrib, and their flourless chocolate cake. My wife ordered off the menu: chopped kale and apple salad, Sea scallops, and closed with the creme brulee. The Sea Scallops were by far the star of the night. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. Trudy, our server, was super freindly and provided out of this world service, which thankfully took the edge off my irritation of having to wait 30 minutes despite reservations and the bar area being so packed we were constantly asked to move as servers tried to access their tables (ended up retreating into the hotel lobby to wait for our table)."

  • "My husband and I had a great time on Valentine's Day. Our server was professional and attentive. Our food was a delicious dining experience. We can't wait to go back and we have shared our joy with everyone we know - church friends, neighbors, co-workers. Chef Danny presents a great dining experience, and Glen Prairie proves to please their guests. The bartender was fast, friendly and handled that busy bar quite well. The hostesses kept up with a busy evening, and seated people as they were able. Even though it was a busy night, the flow went smoothly, and there were plenty of places to sit and wait, without it being uncomfortable. Lovely atmosphere."

  • "First off, let me say that we've dined at Glen Prairie in the past and it's always been wonderful and we'll be back...just never on. Valentines day! We made a reservation a month ahead of time however, when we arrived they informed us that there would be about a 20 minute wait. Anyway, we finally got seated about 20 minutes later and then we sat at our table and waited - no water, no bread, just waited. About 10 minutes later a server greeted us and then about 5-10 minutes after that we at least received some water. Our wine did not come for a while. We order off the valentines day menu and everything was tasty - especially the oyster starter.and the short ribs. other problems included missing silverware and no champagne (email special)"

  • "Glen Prairie was wonderful. The menu selection is fantastic and the food is superb. We went during restaurant week, and while we opted to make selections off of the full menu, the prix fixe options sounded divine. The food was fresh, and the cuts of meat were top of the line from great grass-fed sources. Presentation and service was excellent and I can't wait to return. Glen Prairie also offers a new dining rewards program which we signed up for. I am looking forward to returning and accumulating points."

  • "We ate on Friday at 6:30 on and the restaurant had a good mix of patrons. Service was efficient, kind and lots of delicious choices. We were seated on the dinner side and not the bar side. We were able to have a great conversation and enjoy our meal. The bar side was active but not overbearing and it would be an enjoyable place to stop another time."

  • "My son and I went to dinner expecting to have a good dinner, but nothing spectacular. We had the roasted beet with arugula bruschetta. It was fantastic. Both of us were really impressed with the entire meal and the service. Come to find out there is a new manager, and the service and good were excellent. My husband and I had been to this restaurant several years ago, and the service was terrible, the food was just okay, and we had pretty much decided not to go back. I can tell you that we definitely will be back now."

  • "The scenery in Glen Prairie is unique, but not overly-exhilarating. We started with the stuffed jalapeños, which were good, but lacked the full amount if flavor I believe they could have had. The main entrees, the espresso rubbed pork tenderloin and the pike were amazing. The tenderloin had the perfect amount of coffee flavor and the pork was cooked to perfection. I highly recommend the tenderloin. The pike was a bit more mild, but was very full and it was obvious that it was very fresh. The drinks were creative and tasteful, and the service was very attentive. I wouldn't be hesitant to visit again."

  • "Hostess rude to start and ended up being our server. Became nicer as evening went along for our party of 7. Won't be back though. Too late to redeem herself after initial greeting at the door."

  • "I went to Glen Prairie on Saturday night, had a wonderful dinner. We had Trudy as our server, she was the best server I have ever had; she recommended the Mac & Cheese. She did not steer us wrong. I will be coming back more often, bringing more people to enjoy this great restaurant. Ask for Trudy, she will take good care of you."

  • "Made a reservation here not knowing about the place ahead of time. Really just based on the fact that it was open on Christmas Day and I didn't feel like cooking. The service was fast and friendly (even while working a holiday,) The food was superb and the portions were absolutely perfect. I will definitely be returning. I can not recommend this place enough."

  • "On Christmas Day we had dinner around 5pm. Our waitress (Trudy) introduced herself and seemed pleasant. We ordered our dinner and did not want any drinks other than water. Our waitress never stopped back to see if we needed anything else. They add an 18% gratuity to all meals. Our service did not deserve an 18% tip and I really don't like restaurants that automatically add a tip. No incentive to the staff to excel at customer service. The food was good but nothing over the top and the poor customer service really takes away from the meal. No one from the restaurant even stopped to ask if we needed anything. The manager or owner walked past our table several times and never acknowledged us until after we paid and were leaving."
