Glen PrairieSurprise! We heard others mention this hotel - restaurant, but never really thought about eating at a restaurant inside a hotel when we live in a quaint town with other "cute" restaurants. We were surprised at how wonderful the service and food were. They offer gluten free and vegetarian options on most menu items. We had a large group and we loved it. We will definitely return.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day Brunch 2013The food was excellent. We will have to do it again.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's DayBrunch on Mother's Day was great. It was our first time dining at Glen Prairie and we will definitely come back. The food was very good and a nice amount of variety was available. I especially enjoyed the Mac & Cheese & deserts. Thank you for a yummy and fun Mother's Day experience.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThe brunch itself was great. The brunch itself was great. The chefs were also able to make accommodations for dairy and peanut allergies. However, on top of the $40 charge for the Mother's Day brunch itself, they charged us for coffee and orange juice. I found that shocking and very disappointing. That's why I can only give it a "fair" rating.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMBirthday celebrationWe had a wonderful celebration. The food was great and the waitress was wonderful.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's easy to be gluten free here!Almost everything can be ordered gluten free and it still tastes amazing! BBQ Pork and gluten free Mac and Cheese is where its at! They even have gluten free beer!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat gluten free optionsWe had dinner with a couple who eat gluten free and Glen Prairie had a vast number of items from their menu that were either gluten free or could be made gluten free. My husband and I are not gluten free eaters and we marveled at how delicious the gluten free food was, primarily the gluten free flatbread crust and the cookie and chocolate cake. It was our second time there and we had the same waitress, Trudy. She was awesome! We will definitely eat there again.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMA convenient location forA convenient location for a small group of us to meet & have a good meal before heading off to another event is what we were looking for. What we found was a place that we'd all like to try again.
The wine & cocktail lists offered variety w/o being overwhelming & the menu followed suit. Some of us opted for specials of the day, others were equally pleased with the selections presented on the standard menu. The wine & food were fantastic & the bill fair.
Service started outstandingly, but as the place filled up our server was stretched to cover other parties - disappointing, but the food warrants giving them another try.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious!!Amazing food!! We will definitely recommend to others, especially the Mac and Cheese with pork - as featured on TV!4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and service. VeryGreat food and service. Very friendly & courtious staff ! The menu has something for everyone and the food is out of this world gooood !!! Great place for a date, or a casual night out with some friends . I Highly recomend Glen Prairie !4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe mac and cheese, soup (redThe mac and cheese, soup (red bell pepper bisque and an onion soup were both tried) were fabulous. Great steak and espresso pork tenderloin. I even tried a bit of my daughter's chicken tenders and they were delicious! Our server was excellent. We will definitely put this on our short list of places to return to in the western suburbs.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have now been to Glen PrairieWe have now been to Glen Prairie several times and it always is outstanding. Last night I had the special which was roasted sturgeon with caramelized leek risotto. Absolutely delicious. Also tried their skinny acai berry martini and was surprised how good that was as well. I have had "skinny" cocktails before and they are often watery. This had a nice sweet/sour flavor and packed a punch. Hope it really was the 110 calories listed on the menu! Great job Glen Prairie--we are lucky to have you in the neighborhood.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth the Trip!!!It was our first visit. Our server and the Owner were friendly, helpful and accommodating. We had 3 appetizers and we'd order all again. The beet bruschetta was garlicky and flavorful with fresh wonderful beets. The stuffed mushrooms had a cheesy filling. The shrimp and grits was our favorite. We've never had grits prepared so well. Pulled pork sandwiches and the open faced braised short rib sandwich was shared by the 3 of us. The mac and cheese sides rocked and 2 of the 3 of us loved the rustic fries. The braised short rib was moist, tender and well-seasoned. And the mini desserts....brilliant! We will definitely go back.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMOur family of 6 adults attendedOur family of 6 adults attended the Easter Brunch for a late seting, 3 PM. Food offerings were excellent and all with a certain flair or variation that made them unique to Glen Prairie. We had selected this restaurant specifically for some of the items offered on the Easter Brunch, such as the rumchata french toast. Even though we were one of the last seatings for Brunch, the selections were all fresh and fully stocked for our many return visits. The dessert buffet was to die for and we OD on the numerous chocolate offerings. We will be returning to Glen Prairie for future dining.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing selection of optionsAmazing selection of options for every person. The food is unique and well prepared. Very accommodating to allergies especially those with gluten intolerance. This makes dining out for us easy, relaxing, and fun when it can often be a difficult and frustrating experience. Not only is their menu accommodating, but the food is AMAZING!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat small neighborhood placegreat small neighborhood place great food selection3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed the scallop with risotto;Enjoyed the scallop with risotto; pike with mac/cheese; squash ravioli. Be tempted by dessert, but go for the mini servings.
Will return - there was much more on the menu that needs to be tried.
Surprisingly great restaurant for one associated with a hotel.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good food! After reading the positive reviews on this restaurant, we decided to give it a try and we really liked it. The appetizers were both really good - their signature mac n cheese and we also had the stuffed mushrooms. Both entries (espresso rubbed pork and braised beef were delicious as well. For desert we went with the chocolate chip cookie sundae. Everything we ate was very good and we want to go back to try other items on the menu that looked good as well. Highly recommend!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was excellent andThe food was excellent and well priced. The food was delicious and I'd highly recommend Glen Prairie to friends looking for a great meal.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good. Surprising forVery good. Surprising for a hotel restaurant; little too loud though; could talk to person directly across but one down much too hard to converse. Very "pretty place" reminded me of Perennial in Lincoln Park. Food tasty, although short ribs were a tad too fatty.
Eileen, our server was one of the best...personable and genuine!
I feel jeans should not be warn by the waitstaff. Takes away from ambiance...this is not a fast food place!3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMAll organic, local and glutenAll organic, local and gluten free options...plus taste is outstanding...and affordable. We've introduced many friends to this restaurant and they all love it3/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGlen Prairie is a hidden gemGlen Prairie is a hidden gem in the western suburbs. It has the ambiance and unique menu that is more in line with a city restaurant than a suburban restaurant.3/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place! We are never disappointed here. The food is freshly prepared, and they have unique accompaniments (roasted cauliflower, homemade mac 'n cheese, polenta, mashed sweet potatoes). I love their espresso-rubbed pork tenderloin.3/1/2013 12:00:00 AMUnique Lombard RestaurantWe visited on a quiet Monday night. We had excellant service. Though not a traditional set up for kids, they were very accomodating and were wonderful with my 16 month old son. The macaroni and cheese was fantastic. I enjoyed my beet salad and butternut squash ravioli very much. My mom seemed to like her burger. My husband had the pork chop which he said was a little bland. Overall, great atmosphere, wonderful service and solid food. A unique restaurant separate from the many national chains that dominate the area. We'll definitely be back!2/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAlmost all food was divineAlmost all food was divine and Eileen an outstanding server. Sea scallops tremendously sandy with each and every bit. Everything else would bring us all back and I will recommend highly other than the scallops. Love the GF options and healthier food choices. It is a delight to dine out at a conscious restaurant. Thank you.2/23/2013 12:00:00 AMAgain, Glen Prairie was aAgain, Glen Prairie was a fantastic choice for a special occasion, and this time we brought our almost two year old daughter.
