With the intent to respect the environment and promote environmentally sustainable practices, Glen Prairie Fine Food & Drink (1250 Roosevelt Rd., Glen Ellyn, Ill.), is a local farm sourced fine dining restaurant with contemporary American cuisine. The cuisine emphasizes hearty meat, pasta and seasonal dishes utilizing meats, poultry and produce farmed locally or from across the country from farms practicing sustainable farming methods and celebrates the joys of artisanal cooking. Even the takeout containers are compostable and made from sugarcane rather than petroleum based plastics.

Glen Prairie’s menu is designed to emphasize seasonal ingredients to showcase a variety of American flavors. The restaurant team shops local farmers' markets several times a week to source fresh ingredients.

The eggs benedicts are always cooked to perfection! I especially like the beef brisket for dinner - melts in your mouth! This was the first time we were disappointed with our waiter but it isn't going to stop us from returning!"

  • "We have always enjoyed Glen Prairie for Thanksgiving but the food for Father's Day was just as outstanding. We were seated immediately and our wait staff was very attentive. Our food was not only delicious but arrived on the table quickly. I had the salmon which was superb. I would highly recommend this restaurant to others."

  • "I am a regular at GP, and my wife and I have been going there for several years. We love the gluten-free menu, and as a celiac, I feel very safe eating here. The staff is knowledgeable about GF, and is militant about protecting their customers. For "regular" diners, the food is locally sourced and the chef is a genius. Be sure to order the mac & cheese! It comes in GF and "normal" varieties, and is not to be missed, no matter what else you're eating."

  • "Went their with a client earlier this week and there were only 3 other tables occupied. I had a cup of soup the daily special, tortilla soup, and the beet salad and my lunch guest had a prairie salad. The size of the salads for the price were outlandish - the prairie salad was much more as a side salad size - common seriously, how much does another cup of salad cost to make the salad robust? I love, love, love tortilla soup and it was blended to be much more like gazpacho or just roasted tomatoe soup so missing the texture and consistence you are looking for in this soup. I won't be returning or recommending. The interior was very pretty and the waitress attentitive though. "

  • "The food was good however we were kind of forced to get the brunch. We were not even offered to eat of the regular menu, they just said you can start at the buffett whenever you like. This made me feel uncomfortable to ask if we could order off the regular menu, like it was even an option. We actually would have preferred to order off the regular menu. But any who, the food was tasty and it was a pleasant place."

  • "We had a good time at Mother's Day Brunch. Our crowd most enjoyed the salads such as a kale beet salad and asparagus salad as we tend to eat on the healthy side. Variety of food was great. Only weak area was dessert table- flavors just weren't there with the exception of the flourless chocolate cake. Given it was Mother's Day, we were overall quite happy with the experience."

  • "We had forgotten that this was a byob restaurant and took some fun teasing from our server. This set the tone for a wonderful experience. We relied on our servers for suggestions and they immediately caught on that we wanted to try thing that are different. There were three family gatherings that came in and a large catering order that went out while we were there. Even with all of the larger groups in this small establishment, I never felt neglected. Excellent food backed up by excellent service."

  • "We hoped for a quiet night out and were very disappointed with how loud it was and how close we were seated to the people next to us. It was impossible to have a private conversation. The Caesar salad was served as a wedge of romaine with dressing and accompanying croutons and fresh parmesan. The lettuce was bitter and it was awkward to eat. The wine was the smallest serving size I've seen anywhere recently, but pricey. The sea scallops were the best I've ever had and my husband's brisket was delicious. The service is spotty at best; the couple next to us were seated for 15 minutes before anyone came to their table. Completely unacceptable and very frustrating. Summary: good chef, horrible management and service. "

  • "We were a group of first timers at Glen Prairie, and it was not a disappointing experience. The place itself is fantastic, quite different than I was expecting. The food was good (shrimp and grits were a must). Two of us ordered the burgers (special of the day...) and they were over cooked and bland. One ordered the fish (fantastic) and another a salad (good). The tap beers were wonderful, the service was good outside of the fact that we had to let them know what the specials were based off of the online menus. Overall, definitely a place I would visit again and recommend to otherse. "

  • "Chella is the best server we've ever had! After telling her our long list of food restrictions once, she remembered them exactly on our second visit. She spends the time to discuss our allergies and sensitivities wit the chef each time to ensure that our meals are just right. She is so personable and attentive - we have grown to love her like a daughter over the man y months we've been coming here. The food is always insanely tasty, using locally grown/raised foods and healthy but tasty ingredients. The chef is amazing and always open to suggestions. Their wine pairings are amazing and their management are so attentive and sincere."

Food on buffet was uninteresting and often cold. Waitress never explained the beverage options or provided any assistance. Would not return for brunch."

  • "Very noisey, there was a youth soccer group staying at the hotel and they were at the restaurant.....out of control (to no fault of the restaurant). Service was not great, again, tons of kids and families to serve. Kind of felt ignored. The dish I ordered was a chicken dish and it was way over salted. I actuactuallyalky couldnt eat it and sent it back. The manager as well ad the chef came to appologize, which was appreciated. I ordered anothet dish, flat iron steak, that was good. It wawasd unfortunate thay I vouldnt eat with my companion, as I didnt want her meal to get cold. "

  • "Really enjoy this little gem of a restaurant hidden away in a Holiday Inn. I highly recommend the beet bruschetta; fabulous blend of red and golden beets, arugula, goat cheese. We had scallops with mushroom risotto, which were great. And short ribs with whipped sweet potato and grilled Brussels sprouts. The mini desserts are nice; just enough to satisfy. Server was again outstanding."

  • "I used to go here frequently, always enjoyed it, but somehow they slid off my radar screen for a while. My friend and I were looking for someplace to eat and catch up, have a little wine, and Glen Prairie came back to mind. They did not disappoint! Trudie was our server. She remembered us from a past visit. Delightful English accent, and attentive server. We had a bruschetta appetizer with arugula, gold and red beets, goat cheese, and I don't know what else; all I know is it was FABULOUS! Followed by a kale and apple salad -- very good -- and the halibut special. Outstanding! Many of the desserts are offered in a tasting size, which is perfect. We had a cigar zinfandel with dinner that was excellent. I highly recommend this place"

  • "Had the duck tacos as an appetizer than the pork belly and a bacon blue burger. The tacos were great, the pork belly was exquisite. So tender there was no need for a knife. Well priced, quality ingredients and great atmosphere. Will go back soon."
