Diner Reviews
  • "Dinner was very good, for the most part pricing was very good. Lots of martini's to choose from. As for dinner the price was very reasonable, not cheap but the the range that will bring me back again. The martini's were around $10 each, I guess somewhat reasonable. Corkage for the bottle of wine was $9.00 which was very reasonable. Only complaint was pricing on other drinks. Our table had a couple of Crown and seven and I had a Beefeaters gin over ice. These drinks were close to $13.00 each. A bit high"

  • "Lovely place. Good Ambiance. Cuisine is informal a la carte. A lot of hype about martinis for some reason. I don't drink martinis. Brought my own cheap good wine but nice wine list. Everything tasted good and enough to fill. Good dessert. Good service. Good bread. My cioppini was a little too tart. The seafood was good."

  • "Our local favorite. Great romantic setting in the little village of Glen Ellen. We have been there many times and have always had a great experience with scrumptuos food all the way from the appetizers through dessert, outstanding personal service and much charm and ambience. Our favorite entrees are the Cioppino, the salmon and the Hangar steak. Try the crab cake appetizer, its "to die for." Large wine list and a great bar. You won't be disappointed."

  • "Delicious food, excellent knowledgeable service, lovely atmosphere."

  • "The poor/lack of service outweighed any attributes there may have been with this bad dining experience. The restaurant was clearly understaffed and the attitude was "tough luck". After a 15 minute wait to be greeted for a drink order, the food took nearly an hour to serve. There was no follow up on the meal until it was three bites from being finished, too late to send back an under cooked steak. To walk out of a restaurant with an empty feeling that no one cares is bad enough, the $200. tab made it even worse."

  • "Found this place while visiting California - What a wonderful find! The ambiance was very nice, and the food even better! Great service as well. Definitely going back next time I am in town"

  • "Fantastic find! We've only been here twice because we are from San Jose, but believe me, if we were local, we'd probably be here at least once a week until we've tried everything on the menu. To top off the great food is the great and very attentive service. I highly recommend Glen Ellen Inn."

  • "On a busy evening we had a quiet table with no other customers in the immediate area. The other areas of the place were hopping but we were in a front room with no others. Service was terrific and the meals, both specials, were indeed special."

  • "We were staying at the Jack London Lodge around the corner and decided to dine here. We were amazed at the quality and complexity of the entrees. The service was exceptional. Prices very reasonable!"

  • "We had a great time Saturday Night...just what we needed after a long day!! Super food, quiet and calm setting outside....just perfect!"

  • " Glen Ellen Inn is one of our favorites - the food is always creative, and delicious, the ambiance warm. We had friends visiting. I felt very confident in our choice - one of our guests is a food/wine critic in DC - the wine list is so extensive, it became laborious to find what we wanted to go with the oysters first, and other dishes.....the waiter was very young, and no help when it came to selecting the wines. He was overly animated, scripted, and too young to be part of the dinner wait staff.....our guests used the word "annoying". Having noted we were there to celebrate two events, a marriage and an engagement, disappointed that it was ignored until after we had ordered dessert - and then given a complimentary dish of ice cream...."

  • "This little gem is located on a little street in the Glen Ellen countryside. We enjoyed the lovely garden setting, which was quiet and comfortable. The oysters were delicious as were the main courses. Servers were attentive and knowledgeable about the wines. "

  • "I took my husband here for his birthday and everything about the restaurant was perfect. The server was attentive and helpful, the food delicious, and the ambiance wonderful (we loved the cool music playing in the restaurant as we sat out on the partially enclosed porch). The kitchen sent out a complimentary dessert for his birthday, both it and the one we ordered were yummy. "

  • "Very popular, a little noisy In room where we were because it was full and tables are fairly close. Food and emu good. Not outstanding. Presentation and service excellent."

  • "We had quite a bit of trouble finding parking because this place is very popular. The bar when you first walk in is quite small, but they also have a downstairs area where you can have a drink which is quite scenic. The food was very good and the service excellent. The prices were quite reasonable too, which I wasn't expecting. The noise level was pretty high as it was crowded, but you could still have a conversation easily. I will definitely come back to this restaurant when I am in Sonoma county. I had filet mignon and my husband had the fried green tomato sandwich. They were both excellent. They have an extensive martini selection as well. "

  • "Really enjoyed this casual local dining spot! After too many days of wine tasting and big food, we enjoyed a casual early dinner here. Sat on the semi-outdoor front patio (more casual than the restaurant inside). Had to start with Martini's - which were terrific. And all our food, from the salads to the burgers and fries, to the Special too; all were excellent. Reasonably priced too!"

They loved it and you made us feel so special...thanks always for the little extras you give us and how you make my guests and I feel....always my first choice....Catherine "

  • "Was in the mood for oysters, so, picked this restaurant for the name. The oysters were good and fresh, and the food was prepared well and presented properly. The seafood was fresh, and our server was very good. A nice find off the usual path in Sonoma..."

  • "The food and drink offerings were nicely varied and the pastas and breads made on site showed great promise for a nice evening meal. However, the services came off like standing in line at a cafeteria, pushing your tray along to get your food. There wasn't anything wrong with the service, courteous, prompt, and efficient, but there was wasn't anything right about it either. Having a more relaxed atmosphere, from being seated to the table service would make me return to the good food quickly. We enjoyed a plate of oysters and martinis to honor their name, both of which were delicious. The homemade raviolis and wild boar dinners rated 4 stars. If the managing of the staff were stepped up, the place would become a favorite dinning place. "

  • "We loved the raw oyster selection but were equally impressed by the delicately pressed and fried oysters, nothing like a poor boy fried oyster, very delicate with a perfect balance of fried and fresh. The martini selection is outstanding, we had a classic "dirty" vodka martini and it was excellent. Such a pretty spot. Glen ellen has such a nice local vibe and the combination of cute country cross-road and foodie sophistication and very moderate prices -- its a must go."

  • "They have a wide menu with delicious salads, homemade soups and fresh seafood dishes. The staff are knowledgeable, welcoming and very accommodating. I have brought world travelers, elderly neighbors, business associates and girlfriends having birthdays to dine at the Glenn Ellen Inn and every last one has loved dining there. Their breads and sausages are made in house and they use fresh local ingredients. The wine list is extensive. Have I mentioned that they also are a martini and oyster bar. They are located in a lovely pastoral setting along a creek among the oaks. Easy parking. Everything about the Glen Ellen Martini and Oyster Bar is just what I'm looking for."

  • "We enjoy the ambience, food, and excellent service. What a quaint , wonderfully decorated, and cozy special restaurant. We particularly love the martinis, oysters, and mussels! We often take out of town guests who always want to repeat going there when they come back to visit. We have had wonderful service. The special ice cream is to die for........."

  • "Our party of four went to the Glen Ellen Inn for lunch on Sunday. They were very buy. However, we still received outstanding service. WE all enjoyed the salads we ordered as well as the cheese and fruit plate appetizer. It was really lovely experience. We eat there on a regular basis and have never been disappointed."

  • "I had the pleasure of dining with my family at the Glen Ellen Oyster Grill and Bar on a Sunday afternoon. Given our early lunch reservation (11:30 AM), our party of 3 was allowed to select a table (chose indoor seating). Unfortunately, we were not informed that a large party (~ 10) would be sitting next to us (arrived ~ noon) - this group of diners were particularly loud, so it was difficult to carry on a conversation during lunch. The food was very good- the lunch special (salmon pasta) was outstanding (freshly made pasta and salmon perfectly seasoned/cooked), as was the steak entree and raw oysters. This restaurant serves excellent bread - homemade mini scones and an assortment of other baked bread."

  • "This is a really nice restaurant - with delicious food, great service and wonderful ambiance. We sat on the patio overlooking a waterfall and surrounded by tree lights. The food is very nice - try the GRILLED ROMAINE Caesar Salad - unusual and distinctly delicious. The salmon and plank steak were exceptional as were the garlic fries. The service was professional yet delivered with ease and great humor. All in all, a perfect evening!"

  • "This was our first time at the Glen Ellen Inn Oyster Grill & Martini Bar. We were offered our choice of seating and decided to sit outside on a small balcony overlooking the patio. It was beautiful! Ordering drinks from the extensive martini menu was fun and the drinks were very good. Everyone in our party of 4 loved their dinner, which was artfully presented and just the right amount of food. The bread, scones and ice cream are all hand-made and delicious. The dessert menu was fabulous! We all enjoyed everything about this restaurant, including the reasonable prices (only a $9 corkage fee). I would definitely recommend this restaurant and plan to return."

  • "This was our first visit to the Glen Ellen Inn Oyster Grill and Martini Bar and it will be our last. The food at best was mediocre. The Caesar salad was only a very small portion and was bland and not particularly tasty, Very disappointing because the online menu looked promising."
