Glen Ellen Inn Oyster Grill & Martini BarA surpriseWe line in a neighboring town and have tried all the restaurants there. This was a big yummy surprise will return.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMMore than expectedGot there very early for our reservation, was going to have a drink at the bar in the meantime.........got the impression they did not want us sitting at the small but very nice bar.......they sat us at our table instead. But everything from there was fantastic. The waiter, an older Polish gentlemen was incredible, the food presentation and quality was great. The ambience and the prices were great as well. Can't wait to go back.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome restaurant! The food was great, my friend and husband had the New York that was on special and our other friend had the cioppino which he was raving it was awesome! I had the salmon and it was cooked perfectly. The service was wonderful. Our waiter was so attentive and entertaining that we wanted to take him home with us. The place is quaint an you can eat inside or out. We sat in a booth inside because it was a little cold out but either would be nice. I would definitely reccomend everyone to go there. Their desserts were so pretty I had to take pictures of them. They tastes as amazing as they looked!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWe love the mussels and theWe love the mussels and the cioppino here. They also have a nice library of older wines that are reasonably priced.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMafter reading wonderful reviewsafter reading wonderful reviews on Yelp, I brought in a group of 12 people. Although this place is not on the "best places to eat," it SHOULD be.
excellent choice of food, Great flavor (steak was too greasy, though). Good Service.
only reason it didn't get full stars, the server "accidentally" charged us an extra $100 tip even though the receipt said 18% (almost 40%). Ya, an extra $100 was placed. I find that hard to believe, esp when the charge was not questioned and the $100 cash was immediately placed into our hands.
LUckily, we know our math and the price placed (by them) was NOT 18% of our total.
overall, Great place to eat (just watch the bill).4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and reasonably priced! We love the Glen Ellen Inn! We've been eating there for many years. This time it was for three birthdays in the family. Ate at 4:00 pm from the lunch menu. Had the French Onion Bacon Burger with garlic fries - loved it!4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMOur group had a fabulous lunchOur group had a fabulous lunch overall. We ate lightly so we could enjoy the fantastic desserts. The vanilla ice cream with coconut and caramel was to die for. Probably the best dessert I've ever had. It was served with a corkscrew of spun sugar--a lovely presentation. Service was wonderful, the room was charming--all in all just a lovely place.
The only thing I found a little lacking was the poached pear, which was nicely spiced but harder than I expected.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWOW! This was a huge surprise.WOW! This was a huge surprise. We were expecting a simple little grill in the wine country and did not expect to eat one of the best meals we have had in a long time. Masterfully presented and prepared. The tastes were amazing. Worthy of being one of the best in Sonoma, if not the entire country - a true gem.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have eaten many times atWe have eaten many times at the Glen Ellen Inn Restaurant, and they seem to always impress me. The food is so beautiful you almost don't want to eat it! It's one of those special places off the beaten path that not everyone knows about... The wine list is crazy extensive, they offer specialty cocktails, creative wine country cuisine, and mind blowing desserts.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent meal, service, atmosphereExcellent meal, service, atmosphere. . Restaurant was moderately busy and the service was attentive.
Items off menu:
Beet and Pear Salad (pretty good)
Pumpkin Ravioli (very good)
Wine Country Cioppino (a different take on it, but still very good)
House Made Buttered Popcorn Ice Cream (really, really good)
Overall a nice place with very good food.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMService was good with an amazingService was good with an amazing wine and martini list. While the apps and salads were great, our main dishes left something to be desired. After such a great start we really expected our entrees to shine but they were a bit of a let down. I had the artichoke and gorgonzola raviolis upon recommendation from our waiter, which were tasty but the sauce just didn't fit. My husband had fish tacos which were fine, but they were NOT as good as his french onion soup or any of the salads. Garlic fries and calamari were delicious and all the desserts were spot on. Overall, great fun to celebrate my birthday but entrees were just ok.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGem!Very pretty restaurant that I know is wonderful in Summer with their outdoor terrace. Loved the oysters although a little pricey. The seafood stew was wonderful and very hearty and full of seafood. The service here is impeccable. It was a special occasion and they made us feel special.11/26/2012 12:00:00 AM
