Glass WallGreat Service and Lots of ChoicesWent here recently with a long-time friend for an early dinner (around 6:00). Retaurant was only a quarter filled at that time and wait staff was attentive and very helpful with wine and food choices. While the caprese salad was just okay (spiced mozzarella was just so-so) our entrees were very good: pork chop with spinach and poblano mac-n-cheese (spinach was great, sauce on pork chop was flavorful and helped w/ a little bit of dryness); sea bass with Brussels sprouts (both fantastic). We finished with a few bites of a shared bread pudding (I secretly wanted to finish the entire thing!). Total bill with one glass of wine each: about $100. Worth it for a nice dinner in a nice spot.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistent and deliciousThere have been a lot of restaurants come and go in this Heights area and the Glass Wall has remained a consistent and great stable. Food is not over-the-top innovative, but comfort food with an updated twist. Salads are great and food is always fresh and good. Usually service is better than when we were there last. There was an extraordinarily long wait from the time we were seated to even coming back to get wine/drink order. It seems we were forgotten for very long periods of time, but based on my years of much better service experiences there, I think it was a fluke and not typical. Had it been my first visit, we probably wouldn't have returned. This is still one of my favorite restaurants for uncomplicated, fresh, consistent meals.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat took me so longGlass Wall was one of the first of the Heights 'trendy' spots but we just tried it. We will be back. Nothing disappoints. The menu is manageable and placing a finger with eyes closed is as good a way to mke a selection as any. Try the hand made chips and he 'freebie' bread is worth a second basket6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMSolid SpotI usually can count on Glass Wall for good food and great drinks. We enjoyed our meal.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMVery GoodExcellent Service, food was good, but not the best in Houston, but Good.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMI live in the Heights andI live in the Heights and had been hearing a lot about this restaurant so I decided to take my mom and give it a try. We really liked the ambiance and had great service the entire time. We ordered the crab stack appetizer which was so amazing and fresh, and then I had the lamb and my mom had the short ribs. I definitely liked the short ribs the most, but the lamb was still very good and flavorful. We also had the cherry chocolate bread pudding which I would recommend to anyone who loves bread pudding! I will definitely go back here and try more dishes.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMSecond visitThis was our second visit and the food is amazing. We took another couple with us this time and they had a great evening. We had 4 different appetizers and main courses and shared each one, wow they were all excellent. We will defiantly be back. Can be a little bit noisy but this time we had a booth which really helped us to hear each other better, last time I left hoarse trying to make my self heard over all the other noises.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Birthday DinnerI took my husband here for his Birthday and we were not disappointed with any part of our meal. The service was flawless and the food was delicious. The only small discomfort was due to the acoustics of the restaurant and a baby crying, but of course the restaurant isn't to fault for that incident.
We started with the appetizer special, a caprese salad with a GW update, it was refreshing and delicious. I had the veal dish on the menu and the entire dish was very good. My husband had the beef tenderloin and he said it was fantastic. The presentation of the food on the plate was thoughtful. We were stuffed from our main dish, but ordered a dessert to go. It was on the house for my hubs bday, and the cake was very good. Great experience.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways good food but way too noisyWe've always enjoyed Glass Wall but the noise level last Friday was very close to intolerable. We couldn't even hear each other at our own table. Service was a little slower than usual too. Not sure what they can do about the noise in a place with very little absorbent surfaces, but unless you like yelling during dinner, go early or very late.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMYum!Varied menu and delicious food! Will definitely be returning! Also, a good first date spot if you're looking!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food and wait staff wereThe food and wait staff were both wonderful! We ended up sitting on the patio because insidr was very, very loud. The patio area is arranged along Studemont with no real barriers, so even then the road noise could get distracting. Aside from that, it was a highly enjoyable experience! This is what I would also consider a "special occassion" type of place. The price was a little high, but the food was well worth it. I will definitely come back again in the future.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our first time eatingThis was our first time eating here and we will go back. The food was very good and the service was excellent. My Rib Eye was cooked just as i asked. Valet parking is available4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMI'd walked by here on severalI'd walked by here on several occasions and was also recommended to try their food. They are not a disappointment, the staff was on point the moment you walk in, we ordered the tomahawk pork chop, veal special of the day and a side of mac n cheese. The food was brilliant and look forward to indulging in another incredibly prepared meal. Highly recommended4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a pleasant suprize. What a pleasant suprize. Food was served promptly by Laura she cked back during both delious courses. We will return soon - I had the chicken want to try the short ribs next.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMDinner experience was ExcellentDinner experience was Excellent but time spent at the Bar was Poor. Bartender not friendly, didn't smile and greet. We felt like we were putting him out. Pushed our check at us. Service at dinner was amazing and food delicious.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious specials! We both had the specials, I had veal chop and my friend had the fish of the night, and both had the special salad of the evening - specialty tomatoes with fresh basil, feta, red onion and balsamic vinegar drizzle. Everything from bread to dessert was great except my spinach side... overcooked a bit. Veal and fish and other sides were terrific.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMTamara was great and we willTamara was great and we will be back there again soon!4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experience! Server wasGreat experience! Server was very attentive, and the food was delicious! Valet parking is the only way to go.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat overall experienceMet a friend here for dinner - we were really impressed by everything. Very good wine list, friendly waitstaff, and great food. No complaints!4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMMy husband and I receivedMy husband and I received a gift card from Glass Wall as a wedding present. It was a great wedding present! The restaurant is just the right size, not too big and not too small. We came later in the night for dinner but there was still a crowd for a Tuesday. That's always a good sign. The service was great. The mood, romantic. The food, very good. We had oysters and quail for appetizers and were already full from that--at least for me. My husband ordered the special of the night--lamb chops. I ordered the snapper since I wanted seafood that night. I'm not a big fan of snapper but that was a great snapper dish! As for lamb chops, the rosemary was not so overpowering but the lamb did not smell "gamy". It was grilled to perfection.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMExceeding ExpectationsRecommended by my sister and brother-in-law. The food was excellent and we thought the Berkshire pork chop and beef tenderloin were cooked to perfection. We were even offered a dessert on the house for our anniversary - Creme Brûlée was perfect. We will definitely make a return trip.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMFood and service were excellent....Food and service were excellent......overly noisy, though, due to poor choice of wall and ceiling accoustics.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMA repeat visitor, I took aA repeat visitor, I took a small business group (3) here for dinner. Fine unobtrusive service, good food and overall very nice. It was not too busy, so it was much quieter than normal which was great. Only quibble is crabcakes were lacking in the amount of crab -- usually awesome here -- this time only average. PS -- great bar service -- they know how to shake a martini!4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and service butGreat food and service but very loud. Free valet great idea3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWe simply don't go here enough. We simply don't go here enough. It was a date to celebrate our 4th anniversary and it was made so very special by our experience here.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMMemorable culinary experienceWe enjoyed our experience with a group at Glass Wall so much that we returned the following evening with a group of colleagues from work. The food was delicious, the service was friendly and accommodating and the restaurant was lively and fun.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMA bit loudI really enjoyed the restaurant but it was a bit too loud for my tastes.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous Food!Glass Wall is a lovely restaurant with delicious food & great service. We will definitely go back because there were so many great sounding dishes on the menu we had a hard time deciding & want to try more. I had the corn flake chicken fried steak (yum!) & my husband had the pork chop which he said was the best he'd ever had! We also shared the Lobster Risotto (very good!) to start & the tomato/mozzarella salad (huge & delectable!). The noise level was pretty high but it was mostly the voice level of the other diners - not sure how to fix that... better acoustics to absorb? Still, it was a very enjoyable experience.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our second time toThis was our second time to Glass Wall and loved it. The food is great and the staff is friendly and very helpful.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect FindOur reservation was for a party of 6. The restaurant called earlier in the day to confirm and they had our table ready when we arrived. We had steak, ribs, and porkchops. All were excellent and perfectly cooked. Everyone enjoyed the appetizers, meals, and desserts. If there was one thing we had to choose as our least favorite it would be the crabclaw appetizer. Everything else was excellent. We could not have asked for any better.
The waiter had a trainee shadowing him. They were both very attentive to our table. There were no delays, drinks were filled when needed and food was served hot.
We had guest from out of the country and they were very impressed. We will definitely go back.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMMy favorite in Houston!Definitely my favorite restaurant in Houston. I've never had anything there that I didn't love! The food is fantastic, but the thing that really sets Glass Wall apart for me is the wine pairings. They are always spot on, and I'm always impressed by how much they enhance every course.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThe crab cake was outstanding. The crab cake was outstanding. The rest of our food was tasty. well prepared, and well presented. The noise level was a bit much. All in all we would go back to try the rest of the menu. The wait staff were great.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have been dining at theWe have been dining at the glass wall for 2 years now and thay always meet and exceed our expectations. Love It!!!3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife booked Glass WallMy wife booked Glass Wall for our Valentine's Celebration, a great choice! We had starter and entree wine pairings and the wines complimented the food superbly. We had a Tomato and Spicy Mozzarella starter to share, followed by the Berkshire Pork chop which was superb. My wife had the flounder special, which disappointedly wasnt as substantial as she thought. We indulged in the Rum Cake with vanilla ice cream, but the rum flavor was a little too subtle for our tastes...the waiter said it was subtle, becuase sometimes kids order it!! That's why we ranked the food and service down at 4*. Though, we will be back!2/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
