Today I went to Glass House for a business lunch with two out-of-town guests. We ended up ordering from the Prix Fixe Brunch menu, which had a good variety of entree and accompaniments. Everything was delicious and the service was excellent. The employees are all so friendly and attentive; they're just so accommodating! The food is DELICIOUS.
The menu is varied and reasonably priced, and the quality, freshness, and use of flavors are a real treat.
I was happy to be seated upstairs in the window looking out on the marquees down the street... it appears that
this table has my name on it as it's where I've been seated each time I've reserved thru OpenTable... coincidence?

We had the warm duck salad and bean soup for appetizers. The salad was excellent and the bean soup, although lacking whole beans ( it was puree ) was very tasty. Our entrees were the pork tenderloin and filet mignon. Both were excellent and prepared exactly as ordered. Our waiter was attentive but not annoying and very pleasant. He was like a mother hen watching over her brood, making sure all were taken care of! The noise level was a bit more intense than we're used to, ( senior citizens from MA ) but after being in the city a few days, we quickly learned that that is the norm. I'm also usually hesitant on getting the prix fixe because I assume they only bring out the cheap stuff. However, I was pleasantly surprised on all fronts - the shrimp / scallop / spinach appetizer was fantastic, and the salmon was well cocked. The hazelnut dessert was delicious as well. When we went there we really enjoyed the atmosphere the food and the service. It became a place of meaning to us and something that we held close to our hearts. So for my last visit we had just went to see a play and went to eat at the Tavern. What a perfect day and perfect meal. After we left and went home I took her to one last special spot and asked her to marry me. Our table was tiny under a wall length lamp/light. We asked for matchbooks to stick under the table to keep it from wobbling our water out of our glasses. Service was prompt, very courteous and attentive to our needs. Our appetizers came out quick as well as our drinks but our food took over an hour to come out. We both ordered the filet, mine rare, her's medium. Mine was definitely a filet, hers looks like a chop steak of some sort. I believe it was butterflied. It was decent steak. We had tickets to a show, we gave ourselves 2 hours for dinner. We did want desert but ran short of time.
