Glass House TavernDelicious food and great serviceMy first dining experience at this restaurant was wonderful. The waiter was very attentive and helpful and clearly knew the menu. Our food came out in a timely fashion. I had the lamb bolognese which was delicious; the mint in the dish was not over powering and beautifully complemented the flavor. The dessert (warm chocolate cake) was not too "heavy" and melted in the mouth. The portion size was just right. I would definitely eat here again!6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMAfter the ShowWe had a delightful dinner overlooking the street on the second floor. We had attended a matinee and finished here. The food was very good - our waiter was delightful and very attentive. We will be back soon!6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMNice after a showWe stopped in after an 8:00 show and as the evening went forward more and more people came. Food hit the spot and there seemed to be a variety of things for everyone.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat after TheatreThe bar is noisy and happening, upstairs, the dining room is quite serene, the food good, and the service lovely.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMnice solid dining experiencethe food was good and served hot - what was very nice, was the tables are spread far apart (esp for NYC ), it was not noisy at all which was great for conversing6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMVery ConsistentI have had lunch there many times before a broadway show and have always enjoyed myself. Any of my newcomer friends dining there have also commented on how much they enjoyed it! Will be dining there again in the near future!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved it!Had a great Time with my friends. It's a lovely place for a celebration.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMReally friendly serviceSat at the front booth on the ground floor. Waiter, whose name I've forgotten, was really attentive and pleasant. Food not outstandingly original, but good.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWork Lunch GemGetting in and out in less than one hour in midtown is hard to do, but to do it with grace is even harder. GHT really emphasizes your needs and respects your schedule. To get four feisty guys to agree that a place has seriously some of the best burgers and fries they have had in Manhattan is no small feat, either. Fantastic waiter and fantastic food make four formidable foodies fawn freely over found gem!
Do this place a favor and show up. Today.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMNew York GemGlass House Tavern is a New York Gem. Right in the heart of the Theatre District, the location is ideal for meals just before, or right after a show. The view of the street is superb, and the ambiance is second-to-none. The food is also very good. From something light for lunch, or a late night meal, to a full, multi-course spread, Glass House Tavern has it all. The menu is fresh and creative, yet accessible. The service is professional, and taste is just what you would expect from a first-rate New York restaurant. Good stuff!5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a very pleasant dinnerWe had a very pleasant dinner here after a few wines at the bar. The food, the service and the place itself are very nice. Worth trying!5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMI usually go to Glass HouseI usually go to Glass House before a show; they do an excellent job and they get you to the show on time. Today I went to Glass House for a business lunch with two out-of-town guests. We had a quiet table, an excellent lunch, and plenty of time to review reports......I can not think of a better environment....and my guests loved it!5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMPre theatre dinnerAlways looking for a new place in the theatre district. Glass House Tavern recommended to me. Shared 2 salads and entrees with my friend. They were very accommodating by splitting the portions for us in the kitchen. Food was excellent. Service was attentive and mindful of our theatre schedule. Will definitely go back again5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMPre-matinee Lunch/BrunchWe had lunch prior to a Saturday matinee at the Eugene O'Neill Theater. We ended up ordering from the Prix Fixe Brunch menu, which had a good variety of entree and accompaniments. Everything was delicious and the service was excellent. Lunch is a wonderful time to enjoy this restaurant, as it was not crowded and we did not feel rushed to finish our meal.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMVery convenient location forVery convenient location for the Broadway show we were seeing. Parking validation is a plus.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful dinner stop for businessOur group had a great bottle of wine - great service and even better food. The gentlemen at our table were at first surprised by the "Well" done steaks (they'd ordered medium), but they were tender and flavorful! Everything was delicious and the Catskill Trout with gnocchi was phenomenal. Thank you for taking care of us!5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous Pre-theatre findThe food is reliably good and the location is perfect for theater. Highly recommend it for a pre-matinee meal or pre-theatre dinner. Attentive service and varied, delicious meal choices.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AM'my table'I've been to this venue for brunch a few times, snacks one nite, and now dinner, and have loved each visit.
The employees are all so friendly and attentive; they're just so accommodating! The food is DELICIOUS.
The menu is varied and reasonably priced, and the quality, freshness, and use of flavors are a real treat.
I was happy to be seated upstairs in the window looking out on the marquees down the street... it appears that
this table has my name on it as it's where I've been seated each time I've reserved thru OpenTable... coincidence?
This will be my 'go to' place for years to come when visiting the theater district.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect ending to an enjoyable day!My husband and I frequent the theater district
often and always enjoy trying new restaurants
after a show. Glass Tavern will definately be given
a return performance. Our meal was delicious from the
spinach salad, main entree of fish to the chocolate
cake for dessert. Service was friendly, efficient
and extremely informative. This is a keeper.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Out of TownersWent to the Glass House Tavern based on others' reviews and was not disappointed. We had the warm duck salad and bean soup for appetizers. The salad was excellent and the bean soup, although lacking whole beans ( it was puree ) was very tasty. Our entrees were the pork tenderloin and filet mignon. Both were excellent and prepared exactly as ordered. Our waiter was attentive but not annoying and very pleasant. He was like a mother hen watching over her brood, making sure all were taken care of! The noise level was a bit more intense than we're used to, ( senior citizens from MA ) but after being in the city a few days, we quickly learned that that is the norm. We would certainly revisit The Glass House Tavern on our next visit to NYC.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGood one in Theater DistrictNot many decent places in Theater District - Glass House Tavern has much better food than the mediocre fare at most of the others. Bi-lvel, attractive restaurant with welcoming staff. They have a bar menu with a flatbread pizza ,salads and a delicious hamburger if you are going to theater and don't want to eat too heavy a meal.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways Excellent~Food and ambience always excellent pre/post theater dining.
Our server Brian was very attentive, personable-friendly and always smiled.
This place never disappoints.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMFamily Birthday DinnerThe food was excellent and a good value for the cost. We had a group of 11 with plenty of room to mingle. The wait staff made extra efforts to make us comfortable and provided extra amenities for our birthday celebration.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent service as wellExcellent service as well as food. It's perfectly located for a pre-theater meal.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMQuiet because the restaurantQuiet because the restaurant was almost empty (we got there at 9, after an early curtain) - the bar downstairs was full and noisy. As far as food, the rolls were pedestrian, salad was excellent, salmon was good but not great. Side dish of couscous with fresh corn was delicious! Desserts were good but not great.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat pre-theater choice.Great pre-theater choice. Service was prompt but not rushed even with pre-theater crowd filling every table. Fish entrees were nicely prepared. A couple of wine by the glass choices weren't available even though on the menu.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMIf you're looking for a specialIf you're looking for a special place to dine, Glass House Tavern is the place. The food is wonderful with excellent choices for all palates. The ambiance is lovely with tables that are nicely spaced so you can have private conversation even with a group. Highly recommend Glass House Tavern to all.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMAn OasisWe are in NY city for a month. We have eaten at Glass House Tavern two times. It is an oasis from all the touristy restaurants around Times Square.
The food is excellent and ambiance inviting.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMPost Theatre fareThis place is a real gem. Second time here, had the pre-fixe course, great value and tasty. food is very good, range of well-prepared choices, including light meals as well as fuller meals.not the french/italian/hamburger bar mad rush. the feeling is of well- paced dining. comfortable and grown up.the bar up front at street level is lively and a meal here before theater is great too.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful location for pre-theatreWonderful location for pre-theatre dining.

Food was wonderful and service was excellent.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMI had a business lunch here,I had a business lunch here, and I actually wasn't expecting much at all. I'm also usually hesitant on getting the prix fixe because I assume they only bring out the cheap stuff. However, I was pleasantly surprised on all fronts - the shrimp / scallop / spinach appetizer was fantastic, and the salmon was well cocked. The hazelnut dessert was delicious as well. Very happy to have come here.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for groups...We wereGreat for groups...We were a party of 18. The table was perfect the food and service were great..Noel was fantastic. When we went there we really enjoyed the atmosphere the food and the service. It became a place of meaning to us and something that we held close to our hearts. So for my last visit we had just went to see a play and went to eat at the Tavern. What a perfect day and perfect meal. After we left and went home I took her to one last special spot and asked her to marry me. are going to the theater.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMexcellent; the hostess wasexcellent; the hostess was able to change our reservation time to accommodate our schedule. i would suggest a bit of recessed/enhanced lighting - it was difficult to read the menu and fully appreciate the presentation of the food.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMSo much more than expected hereThis was our first time at Glass House Tavern. We were escorted upstairs to a window table with a good people watching view. We came in after the pre-theater crowd so it was pretty empty upstairs. We decided on the flat rate 3 course dinner for $37.00 each. Husband ordered risotto with escargot which was delicious and I ordered the mushroom ravioli in cream sauce with peas that was just as delightful! The bread was extra nice and warm, but we had to ask for it. Our entrees were equally delicious - I had blackened salmon over a couscous and corn concoction that I loved. Husband ordered the flat iron steak over mashed potato he just ate till the last morsel! I had the pineapple/ coconut bread pudding and he had warm chocolate cake. Great!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMMore pleaseWe were a grouop of seven from long distances.
