  • "A good restaurant week find, will defintely try it again."

  • "Sunday brunch. My friend ordered a peach bellini. Usually that's champagne with peach nectar. The waiter brought us a glass of champagne with peach schnapps. What?!? Sent it back. The waiter acted like we were hassling him. Then he read off the specials. I asked if I could get an omelette with spinach and tomatoes. It wasn't on the menu but, hey, most kitchens have spinach and tomatoes. He literally yelled "NO!" at me. My friends and I were taken aback. His style was totally gruff, unfriendly, and way below what you'd expect at a restaurant like this in a neighborhood like this. The whole experience was unpleasant and bizarre. Will not go back."

  • "We had friends staying at Timesqure and wanted to find a restaurant that serves breakfast for a group of 8. We were pleasantly surprised to find this place in the heart of Timesqure with nice ambiance. Food was delicious and reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend to anyone who is looking for decent food/decor without paying top $."

  • "Food was very good but service was sluggish. The waiter was new but he tried. Why did we have to ask for bread though? The fish of the day dish was excellent. We would have liked a burger on the menu. Chocolate dessert was excellent. We'll be back."

  • "Creative entrees, friendly and welcoming atmosphere, perfect for dinner before theatre with a nice selection on the prix-fixe menu. This was my second visit, and I will return and bring friends."

  • "Celebrating our anniversary. Sat upstairs, more private and quiet, our waiter greeted us with complimentary champagne for our anniversary. We shared a watermelon salad that was delicious and perfect for a summer evening. The bread basket was filled with wonderful choices and we had trout in a light cornmeal breading and lamb for our entrees and both were paired with delectable sides and cooked to perfection. We both enjoyed a Red Zin for wine and topped the meal off with a pineapple bread pudding. Definitely a place we will return to and at least once we want to dine solely on the appetizers, which all appear to be wonderfu,l so we'll share them tapas style. Downstairs is the bar and additional tables but upstairs is more private."

  • "Our party grew from 2 to 15. Once again the restaurant accommodated us after a brief call prior to our reservation time. Excellent service from Colin. We return to this establishment because of good food, nice atmosphere and all around good service."

  • "We were looking for a good place for lunch and the Glass House was recommended by the concierge. I would not have walked in from the street view but inside was a neat restaurant with tablecloths nestled into three levels. We ate at a high top in the lower bar area to watch the World Cup. Menu was above average with interesting twists but not crazy. They weren't too busy so service was prompt. Good solid choice. I would return."

  • "We made late reservations for dinner and were pleasantly surprised by how nice the Glass House Tavern is. We went upstairs and had a table near the window. The selections of food were many and they were delicious. My husband had the prix-fixe dinner, which included a great app, dinner and dessert."

  • "one of my favorite restaurants in NYC for lunch/weekend brunch prior to theater- have never been disappointed"
    Dined on 6/28/2014
  • "We are frequent diners at the restaurant and this is the first time we experienced a problem with service ...my husband ordered a side that never arrived after a few reminders and my salad was made incorrectly and then arrived 15 minutes later...after all others had finished their lunch..."

  • "We selected this restaurant because it was fairly close to the theater we were attending. It turned out to be an excellent choice. The brunch/lunch menu was very good there were many choices appropriate for everyone. My husband and I had an excellent quiche with a very good salad. Others in our party had a variety of other more lunch options but absolutely everyone was delighted with their food. The waiter was very good about asking if we had theater tickets, which we did. And they made sure that there was no issue of our being late"

  • "My friends and I go to see Broadway shows often, and we were looking for a new place to dine. The glass House Tavern proved to be smart and elegant with great food, and even better service. We had a great time and will go back there again next time we go to see a play or are in the city. I can easily recommend it."

  • "Great pre-theater restaurant. Lovely service, food, ambiance."

  • "Dinner at the Glass House Tavern before the theatre was just wonderful. The hosts were friendly and honored my request for a high top table downstairs in the bar area. We enjoyed our drinks, delicious appetizers and outstanding entrees. Our crab cake and sweet pea risotto appetizers were wonderful. The seafood spaghettini was so tasty and full of shrimp, scallops, calamari, mussels and cockles, as was the paella. Service was excellent, we had plenty of time to arrive at the theatre a few blocks away. We will certainly return to this great spot in the city again!"

  • "Great place for pre theater in NY due to its location and varied menus. The appetizers were especially god and we shared 4 different ones ."

  • "Everyone at the table thought the food was excellent. My striped bass dish was the best dinner I had had in a long time. I can't say enough about the service always there and with a smile. The server noticed a birthday card envelope and surprised my daughter with a special birthday desert. We were stunned by the attention he paid to us. The only negative about Glass House Tavern is the noise level. By the time we left it was fairly loud."

  • "Can't go wrong with brunch at this Theater District establishment! Mimosas, steak & eggs with roasted potatoes, a small basket of freshly baked muffins & croissants washed down with piping hot tea and coffee... Just a little slice of heaven!"

  • "We went to Glass House Tavern because we were going to the play next door. What a find! Great location, fabulous food, wonderful menu - don't wait for a theater visit to go here. The only problem I had was choosing what to order. Our waiter, Jason, was attentive, helpful, pleasant....I wanted to clone him to take him to other restaurants. LOVED IT!!!"

  • "This is a nice relaxed place. The cocktails were generous and the menu was varied. I had the broiled sea scallops and my wife had the crab cake, both just as good as you get at the shore. Service was well-timed and friendly and we were no rushed. I plan on returning on my next visit to NYC."

  • "The food and service were both excellent. Our waiter was friendly and attentive, but not overly so, and was very patient while we caught up with one another and were not yet ready to order. I had the roasted salmon which was perfect. My guest had the paella, which she loved and it looked spectacular. A number of good wines by the glass, and a lovely quiet ambience made it a great evening."

  • "Glass House Tavern is an excellent choice for brunch, lunch or dinner. The decor is sleek and the seating is comfortable. The area near the fireplace has a very homey feel while the front tables allow for theater district "people watching." The service is friendly and professional with special consideration given to those who have to make a curtain. The menu is varied and the food consistently good. Special requests are not a problem. There are several restaurants on this block, but this one is our favorite!"

  • "Great pre-post theater spot. Open/clean/contemporary atmosphere. Food is always great, whether ordering appetizers or a full course meal."

  • "We went here before a 7 o'clock show. Started out ok. The room is dark and we couldn't all read our menus. The waiter assured us that we had more than enough time to have the 3 course prix fixe dinner. We did not. We waited so ling for our entrees and barely wolfed down dinner. We were almost late for our show because we waited forever for the bill to be paid. Worst of all, I ordered filet mignon cooked medium. It came out blood red and raw in the middle. Drenched in sauce. The waiter offered to haven't recooked but we were late already. They did take it off the hill but the waiter was very rude about it. Very very disappointing and will not return."

  • "This is a go to spot for me, as I work in the neighborhood, its a great grown up place for a fine meal. Always accommodating, always delicious. Sadly, this most recent time, our waitress disappeared at the end of our meal and we needed to hail down someone else for our check. Otherwise, aces."

  • "not sure what everyone likes? can't go wrong w/Glass House... great ambiance, service, and ESPECIALLY great food! the brunch menu is a perfect selection of what they have to offer... eggs benedict are perfect, salmon w/roasted corn confit awesome... can't say enough about the freshness and delicate flavors of their dishes... don't miss the mozzarella/tomato appy... any time someone can't come up with a suggestion for a before show spot, this is the one I make and always recommend... and many have returned to tell me they're thrilled with this gem of a spot."

  • "the restaurant was too cold.we asked to raise the air but it never got comfortable"
    Dined on 6/1/2014
  • "Good food. Pleasant service. Kinda noisy with pre- theatre people. We were near the bar because, with a wheelchair, we could not be seated upstairs where it might have been quieter. Though sparse, I would recommend the sea scallop appetizer and the generous salad with brioche that we ordered. The warm chocolate cake was disappointing. As was the sangria."
    Dined on 6/1/2014
  • "When we arrived the hostess sat us next to a party of 24. We couldn't hear each other. We asked several waiters if we could change our table, and waited 10 minutes, until we approached them and they moved us. Then a group of 10 were placed a few feet away. We were a group of five. The restaurant should maybe have large groups on one floor and the smaller ones downstairs. As for the food, I would say its fair. I ordered the crispy chicken which was rubbery and tasteless. The quiche was mediocre. The salads were pretty good. We also expected a larger selection of brunch items. Very disappointed."
