It felt like a glorified diner. The service was 'ok' at best. The food wasnt bad at all but i wasnt overly impressed. I think they cater to the pit-stop tourist who never returns so their feedback isnt captured or probably considered. Its has a nice ambiance and a view of the street (from the second floor) which I like. The drinks were spot on and consistent. The pricing for a meal for two with three drinks and desert was abt $120. They did miss the fact that I requested no sausage with the appetizer and they completely missed the birthday request for a little cake/candle. Fortunately, I wasnt banking on this place to be my "happy birthday" surprise.

We came because for lunch because of it's great location for a Wednesday matinee and I had heard good things about it. it was better than best! The service was professional, attentive and friendly. The food was delicious and my hanger steak came perfectly cooked as I had required (medium rare). The ambiance is modern, but warm. Good lighting, carpet on the floor to soften the noise. I love the way the restaurant has 3 levels with a skylight. I will definitely come back as often as I can. Next time, a leisurely dinner with no curtain time.

Glass House is a great find in the heart of the theater district. The menu is interesting and varied and offers something for everyone. The prices are reasonable and the prix fixe menu is a real find! The service is excellent. IF only they could lower the noise level . . . but they get you in and out in time for making your curtain. An all-around excellent choice in the theater district.

The menu is well balanced and the wait staff's first question is are you here before going to theater? Clearly this restaurant is geared to serving you quickly when the theater is your destination. The food is fair - good and the service is cheery and excellent.

This is my second time dining at the Glass House Tavern. The first time I had brunch. This time we wanted to have dinner before our 8:00 pm performance. Our server even asked us if we were seeing a show so he could ensure we had time to enjoy our dinner. The service was excellent. My friend and I shared the Duck Wellington appetizer. It was wonderful. Excellent flavors and just the right portion for a taste. For my entree, I had the Monk Fish with cucumber and tomato salad. It was delicious. Light, but satisfying. For dessert, we ordered the profiteroles, which were dusted in powdered sugar and served with a chocolate and caramel dipping sauces. A delicious, melt-in-your-mouth treat. I plan to come back next time I'm in New York.

We were a group of 5 (a mix of locals and out of town visitors) who were in the Times Square area and looked for a place to eat dinner. This was a fantastic place! They were able to accommodate our size very easily. The food was wonderful. The service was ridiculously attentive. Outstanding experience!

We were late for our reservation but graciously accommodated; our server was charming and patient; the food was well presented . Prix fixe dessert choices were not as interesting as the appetizer and entree choices but all the dishes were delicious. Would gladly rate this restaurant one of my neighborhood faves.

I was pleasantly surprised that the restaurant was so attractively designed on multi levels. We were there for brunch before a Saturday play. Two ordered lunch items and two of us ordered omelets. Everyone enjoyed their meal and the service was prompt, courteous and attentive. What struck me was the way they used heirloom tomatoes and other vegetables to make the dishes look and taste so appealing. We felt the price was reasonable for the quality of food and theater location.

We enjoyed our dinner at 10:30 on Friday night after the theater. We had the prix fixe, which was very nice. We both had tomato and mozzerella salad, one of us had a salmon main course, and one had the chicken. We both loved the molten chocolate cake dessert. Their wine prices are also very reasonable.

We almost left before ordering. First we were seating in the back of the upper level. The curtain was drawn and from behind it was loud talking and clanging. We requested to move: our server made an excuse for the noise. We had to request a second time before a table change. Glass House was only 25% full, lots of empty tables for four. We had the impression that asking anything from our server was an imposition; he went through the motion. We never had water glasses refilled, etc. The food was average, nothing to write home about. I had the tomato soup for appetizer, tasted like from a can. One of the orders was the pork tenderloin, it was dry. We were in New York for four days, had three incredible meals. This was not one of them.

The food was mixed. My paella was delicious, and my colleagues duck was amazing. However, my friends couscous was undercooked and the steaks were not prepared to order, even after we had sent it back. The service was nice and it was overall an enjoyable experience. Located on W. 47th St.,across from the Barrymore Theater where we saw the fabulous "Curious Incident about the Dog in the Night", this restaurant is one of the quieter ones in the theater district. The food is excellent and the service very attentive. The wait staff always ask what time your show is, etc. and keep that in mind. The food is well seasoned without being overdone. I've been there 5-6 times and its always excellent.

I arrived a little early before my dinner partner. Was graciously greeted and went to the bar where a host made sure I got a drink as the bartenderess was at the other end of the bar. Later, up stairs the service was not as wonderful. Bread was put on the table after we got our entrees, which were served by the busperson. Waitress did not come by to see if we needed anything else. Took me a while to get her attention to ask for wine which finally arrived as we just about finished our meal. But I will give them another chance.

This restaurant is a favorite of our theatre group. We come early for a relaxed dinner. We are always greeted warmly and taken to "our" table in the upstairs room. (They seem to keep a record of our choices.) The service, by the excellent and knowledgeable troop of waiters, is impeccable and the food is not only delicious, but beautifully presented. We had a 5:30 reservation and after we were seated we were immediately asked my our server if we were attending a show. We said yes and the show had an 8:00 PM curtain. We finished our entire meal in a little over an hour. Our soup came out first, even before our drinks. We barely finished the last bite and our plates were cleared and the next course came out. Since we ordered from the priz fixe menu, we ordered our dessert along with the rest of the meal. My husband ordered the pineapple bread pudding dessert and he received an extremely small wedge with one sliced strawberry. We had to ask for coffee, it was never offered. We have been to the Glass House Tavern quite a few times so we were notably disappointed.

Our party of 4 ate at this restaurant last evening, and we all enjoyed our meals. No complaints. Service was a little slow but our waiter was quite pleasant and accommodating. We still made it to the theatre on time. I saw a great tip in another review that recommended requesting a table on the 2nd floor overlooking the street. The restaurant accommodated my request, and it was the perfect place to be seated and a little more private and not quite as noisy. We will eat here again on our next trip to NYC.

Elegant ambiance, excellent service and a nice, quiet little refuge to relax, dine and recharge without being rushed--especially if you're seated on one of the two upper levels. We lucked out on a great deal during restaurant week! Double truffle potatoes are to die for and worth the surcharge if you want to substitute. Tremendous wine list and huge bar menu. Entrees were tasty, served hot and plated nicely. They could use more variety in the dessert options, though.

We chose Glass House Tavern on the spur of the moment, on the recommendation of a good friend, for our brunch on Saturday. It was a positively wonderful selection, from food options that included fixed price brunch and lunch, to friendly, knowledgeable wait staff, to quiet location for a lot of lunchtime conversation among friends, to a leisurely meal (3 hours). All this, at what we felt was a very reasonable price. We are so appreciative of the attention given to my request for a place where 11 of us could converse at a relatively secluded table grouping! The Glass House Tavern has already been recommended to friends -- and we will most definitely be back on our next midtown escape! Thank you, all!~
