Located in the lovely Leslieville neighbourhood, GLAS Wine Bar serves the best of Ontario wines, combined with a creative, seasonal menu, with a true emphasis on the art of casual hospitality.

Chef Danny Pantano draws from a decade of experience working at some of the best restaurants in Italy, and the UK, and incorporates the bounty of local ingredients in a refined manner. This translates into a small, evolving menu with a focus on vegetarian and vegan dishes in addition to local meat and fish.

GLAS is the perfect spot to enjoy a lazy weekend brunch or an intimate dinner. The chef offers a prix fixe menu every evening of the week based on dietary restrictions, preferences and available products.

Seating an intimate 20 people, GLAS is ideal for small groups, or parties of 24 or less.

  • "We were greeted by friendly and energetic staff who were more than willing to tell us about the food and wine list. They were patient and attentive as our group made decisions and on top of everything the food was amazing. The vegetarian and lamb ragu were both hits with the table. We split the crostini, cheese and meat boards among our group and everyone was very pleased. The salt and vinegar potatoes were an interesting twist on a normally boring side dish and the duck confit sandwich was also tasty. I would recommend Glas to anyone - the food, atmosphere and service were all incredible."

  • "I brought my partner here for a special birthday dinner and it was a great decision. We opted for the chef's tasting menu with wine pairings. The owner brought us each different dishes, so we effectively got to sample 8 dishes. Quality and variety were both excellent. Portions were also great for a tasting menu, especially a less expensive one such as this. We left with the perfect level of fullness, and very very impressed. Overall, a great experience and (IMO) also a great value for what we received."

The desserts were less outstanding but the service was excellent and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the Ontario wine recommended by our waitress. Overall a small and charming restaurant I would reccomend to friends."

  • "This restaurant was highly recommended by friends so my husband and I tried the tasting menu with wine pairing. We've tried some really high end tasting menus around the world and this one was pretty good for the price. We are not big fans of Canadian wines but the ones they had selected were excellent and really accented the food. We liked the starters, soup & first dish - interesting mix of ingredients and flavors while still providing substance. The main was somewhat standard beef & overcooked to our liking but they paired it with an amazing Red that made up for it. The place has a cosy, intimate feel and wait staff were attentive & knowledgeable."

We shared a Celery Root Pappardelle with a cheese fondue sauce and truffle purée that was excellent, along with a kale and brussel sprout salad with a nice mustargy vinaigrette. Then we had the house-made potato cavatelli pasta with the mushroom ragout sauce. Service was great, interesting Ontario wine selection. All good."

  • "Hello Glas My wife and I ate at Glas recently for the first time. It was easily the best restaurant meal I have had in the past 6 months or longer and we eat out a lot. We started off or meal with 5 of the crostini all of which were delicious and fresh. For my main course I had the pickerel while my wife had the chicken meatballs. Both main courses were terrific. For desert we shared the creme brulee which was great. Even the wines we selected were top notch. I had the Malivoire Pinot and my wife the Hinterland sparkling. Our server was great being very personable and efficient but, at the same time, not rushing us through the meal. We look forward to eating at Glas again very soon. "

  • "Made reservations for four with Open Table but called later to push half an hour with no problem. Table was set and ready when we arrived. Myself and one of our companions had the chef's tasting with wine paring which I would recommend. I liked the fact that wine was local (Niagara region) as well as locally sourced food. We agreed that the entres' were reasonably priced. Space is a bit tight as the restaurant is quite small, but it still works. Art work from what I am assuming is local artists' adorn the walls. A very enjoyable dinner out, best of a number of recent restaurant dinner experiences!"

  • "My wife and I enjoyed our meal, but aside from the cheese plate, which was fantastic, the food was not good enough to justify the cost of what was a fairly expensive night out. The service was actually quite slow; after an hour and twenty minutes only the cheese plate and first course (of four) had arrived. The owner did apologize for the delay, which was nice, but overall we just did not enjoy this restaurant as much as most people seem to."

Simple, exciting, great tasting. The 'pasta' dish was one of the best things I have had in a while, and the fish was exceptional. The wine list was well curated from great ontario vineyards. The restaurant owner Dan has his finger in the pulse with this great place not only in terms of great food but but also what the Toronto food scene deserves and really needs to aspire to if it is going to become as good as some of its American counterparts (Chicago, San Fran etc). The food caters well to meat eaters (well those scared of a meatless meal) but is really a class above with its vegetarian fare. There are very few quality vegetarian restaurants around but this is one , you can tell by the lack of reliance on mushrooms on the menu. Really looking forward to seeing what Glas can offer in the warmer seasons when locally sourced produce is available. This could be where Glas really shines."

  • "We enjoyed our dinner at GLAS Wine Bar. It's a small restaurant, and all the tables were full. The owner was also our server that evening, and he was very accommodating. Their kale and Brussels sprouts salad was delicious, and large as a starter salad. I also enjoyed the cous-cous and my partner had the poached salmon. Everything was very good, fresh and healthy. A great local spot."

  • "My wife and I had a lovely anniversary dinner here on a Wednesday night. Glas in tiny and narrow, but intimate and friendly as a result. One chef and one server, and easy-going but perfectly professional service across the board. The ambience was quiet, but likely because there was only one other pair of mid-20s women in there with us, and when they left, we had the restaurant to ourselves. The food! Terrific. I had the beet salad with a horseradish foam, which was a revelation: perfectly balanced, every bite a joy. I followed with the poached trout, which was equally good; my wife had the butternut squash soup followed by flatiron steak, which was perfectly medium-rare and remarkably tender (for flatiron). Highly recommended!"

  • "The restaurant had a nice atmosphere. It was small and cozy. Our server was great, but we were disappointed in the food. The portions were small. I ordered the steak and was not asked how I liked it cooked. It came very rare which I do not like. My boyfriend ordered the butternut squash risotto which was very bland and again...small! We ended up eating pizza later in the evening because he was still hungry."

  • "Lovely little Leslieville gem. We had the 5-course tasting menu, a good value at $50, along with the $25 wine pairing. All of the dishes were well prepared and toothsome - especially enjoyed the tartar. Another highlight was the salmon fillets in orange sauce with fennel and olive salad, the flavours really work well together and don't overwhelm the fish. It's a very small 20-seat room, so don't expect too much privacy, but a lively, convivial vibe. It's a perfect place to drop in on a Friday night after a busy and hectic week, treat yourself and shed some of your accumulated weariness...."

  • "Love this place! The service is fantastic, the wine is amazing and the food is just as great to boot. I have had both brunch and dinner at Glas many times, and it’s been amazing every time. It's a small intimate space with a lot of character and I really like that Danny (Chef/Owner) takes the time to chat with everyone (and he is super generous). The plates are the perfect portion size. Just enough to allow you to try more than one thing or share the plates with your date! can't get enough of the Artisanal Ontario truffle salami. I’ve enjoyed the salmon, fregola and flat iron steak paired with wonderful Ontario wines . Koodos to Dan for highlighting some great Canadian wines paired with amazing dishes."

  • "I had to dry clean my clothing after dinner as the lack of ventilation and the fact that the kitchen is open I felt like I was covered in kitchen grease and couldn't wait to get out. The food was ok but the pasta entree for $17 wasn't even large enough a portion to be considered an appetizer. I will never return"

  • "Excellent evening! Couldn't have asked for a better atmosphere or friendlier staff. The Chef himself came to our table to check on our experience, which added a personal touch I've never seen anywhere else. The food itself was absolutely amazing! We're not only excited to go back and see what new dishes will be on the menu, but also excited to check out a brunch! Definitely looked like a step up from the usual bacon and eggs we've seen elsewhere in the city. What an amazing evening!"
