Diner Reviews
  • "I remember when this place used to stand out. it's just not the same any more and not the worth money. The menu is boring and not a lot of options and so was our server. She just took our order and didn't bother to engage us."

  • "The view of Long Beach harbor from the outdoor dining area is spectacular! I had the king crab legs and they were the best I have ever eaten. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The entertainment was enjoyable. This was a memorable dining experience."

  • "In the heart of Long Beach. Great views. A bit noisy. Watch out for the photo girls selling your pics!"

  • "Everything about this trip to Gladstones was great with the exception of the initial contact with the Hostess. She was clearly very put out when she offered us a table we did not like the location of and requested another section of the patio. She told us that if we wanted the other section we would have to wait a few minutes, we said that was fine and she "barked" fine -then get back to the front and wait. If it were not for that initial contact the entire experience would have been perfect. The server was great!"

  • "Being a fan of the other Gladstone, make me compare the 2 and, unfortunately, this is is acceptable but far to be at the excellence level of the other at end of sunset boulevard: More classy set up would make you expect excellence when is is just good Food os good but not at level of expectation Service is approximative and not friendly While it is a good place, they must learn from the original Gladstone to justifie the r√©putation of the name."

  • "My wife got the Alaskan crab meal, a little pricy, but it was cooked just right and was delicious. I tried the fish trio, blackened - they were tasty but a bit more done that I prefer. Overall, nice location and friendly servers, just a bit slow and expected more for the price."

  • "Fairly good food. Didn't think the photographer was a good idea. Service was only fair."

  • "It was a busy weekend night, but we were given a window booth with a good view after turning down the hostess's first choice, a high table in a high-traffic corner of the bar. The fish was a bit overcooked. Overall, the food was good but not excellent. The service was friendly but inattentive. This restaurant has potential, but they should try to improve the food and service a notch or two."

  • "We took a couple to Gladstone's to celebrate a friends birthday. The weather was picture perfect so, of course, we had an outdoor table with a spectacular view. The server, Dennis was personable and provided excellent service. The food was delicious and portions were generous. Our birthday guest received a huge tower of blue cotton candy and a"Happy Birthday" chorus. We received a complimentary postcard with photos of our group which was a great memento. We chose to purchase additional photos as well. A musical duo (guitarist/singer and drummer) began playing, so our dessert was accompanied by great music. A stroll around the pier after dinner as the sun set, was the perfect ending of a perfect evening."

  • "Very friendly and helpful employees. Decent wine list reasonably priced. Tough time selecting from a very enticing menu, but we settled on their grilled hearts of romaine and then the 1.5lb king crab dinner - fantastic!"

  • "We have been to this Gladstones maybe a dozen times and it doesn't seem to improve. The food is usually cold. The cooking is bland. The portions are very small for the price. Even the veggies are colorful leave something to be desired. The service was really slow. If you want to get a drink and socialize this is a great location, but for seafood it is really unimpressive."

  • "I went to celebrate my friend's birthday and I requested three times that a cake be brought out to her. I asked when I made the reservation, when I called to change the reserv. time over the phone, and when we got to the restaurant. I ordered a dessert for us at the end and it came with no candle, no singing, nothing. After finishing the dessert, I had to get up from the table and go find the waiter. They ended up bringing out a complimentary cotton candy, which was nice but not what I originally asked for. The sugar in the cotton candy melted onto the table making it very unappetizing. The waiter was nice but one of the hostesses was not! Our table had a nice view but I was not impressed with my entree: Lobster, Shrimp & Crab Linguini."

  • "My husband and I are always looking for something new to do on a weekend afternoon. Going to Gladstones was just the ticket as we had a beautiful view of boats, the Queen Mary and the weather was perfect. Had a salad and fish and chips with beers--perfect for a light meal. Waitress was superior!"

  • "Although we were going for more of a fine dining ambience, the food was 5-star. The atmosphere was nice, the staff and the manager were engaging. We will come back to this location to check out the night-time environemnt. We plan on going to the Malibu location for that fine dining experience."

  • "Sounded good. Hotel concierge felt good about it. Nice view. I got to enjoy the view a long time before I was waited on, and even longer until I was served. Food was good--nothing fantastic, but good and a relatively good value."

  • "What fun we had with friends. I had to pick a restaurant between Los Angeles and Oceanside......this was the place. Our food was excellent. Salads were great, fish and chips were the best I have had. Prices very reasonable. Sitting outside with the sun, a sea breeze and boats going by made this a great place to enjoy lunch. Our lunch lingered for almost two hours. We also liked the valet parking as finding a parking place in Long Beach can be tricky. We highly recommend Gladstones."

  • "Gladstones was a perfect location and resturant for a party of 5 adults and two young children. We celebrated a 1 year old birthday and were there probably 90 minutes. Very friendly staff especially understanding of our needs with children. the food was good not spectacular but we were there for the location and ambience not the food. We took our own wine and they were most accommodating. we paid a corkage fee but we expected that. thank you gladstones for making this event memorable. "

  • "It was a delightful dinner - our server was great, always there when you needed him but not hovering - meals were delicious, hot, and the presentation inviting. The menu offered something for everyone's taste. It was a lovely casual atmosphere for a beautiful evening at the beach - "

  • "Gladstone's never fails to give us a great experience- great food, awesome service, and a wonderful view. We generally sit on the patio, where service at some restaurants is sketchy. Not here, it's beyond great. Whether it's a special occasion or a casual lunch by the ocean...this is the place to come to in Long Beach."

  • "View was nice, food was mediocre. I appreciated they had a large list of wines available by the glass but none were very noteworthy. Mostly large vintages and both servers knew NOTHING about the wines and seemed annoyed when I started asking questions. "

  • "The food at Gladstones was exquisite. I would definitely recommend going there if you are in Long beach. Try the salad and seafood dish with a glass of wine and take in the scenery around you."

  • "The restaurant was in a great location, and it was a gorgeous day, but the menu was very limited and the choices just mediocre. Obviously, the Mother's Day holiday allowed the restaurant to inflate the prices, but you were really paying for the atmosphere - the food was definitely not worth it. There are other restaurants in the area with better food. Sadly, Gladstones food was never it's selling point"

  • "We went to Gladstone's for Mother's Day and Graduation combined. We had a reservation and were seated as soon as we walked in the door. The service was a bit slow, but it was Mother's Day. It looked like every cook and waiter was there, so it was just really busy. Our waiter was very friendly, the food was excellent, and the view was nice. Overall, we had a great experience."

  • "My sister and I took our mother and grandmother out for Mother's Day. Reserving our table in advance was very helpful so we didn't worry about getting in. We wanted to sit closer to the water front as a table just opened up. The staff was totally accommodating. All the food was extremely delicious except for one of the seafood dishes my mom ordered. When she notified them it was not as expected, they gave her a choice of a new dish without any hassle. Following food, we took a walk along the banks to Shoreline Village for live music so the location was ideal in multiple ways. We have some wonderful photos and memories from this day and were very pleased to have such a great experience at Gladstone's in Long Beach. "

  • "We had a nice time sitting outside. The view was great. It was a crowded day so the service was a bit weak but was to be expected on this special day. The food was just ok. "

  • "We had a Mother's Day lunch here. We had reservations before noon so it was not very crowded yet. Food was promptly served and very delicious. We had the Clambake for 2 (lots of food!), Caesar salad and Smoked Salmon Croissant, which was shared by 4 persons. The steamed clams were better than expected and the smoke salmon sandwich was super and not too salty."

  • "From the excellent vallet service, with a lovely rose for all the Mothers (and daughters)...to the quick seating at a lovely booth with a view of the lighthouse park, the Queen Mary and Shoreline Village...to the amazing food and friendly, excellent service (our waitress, Shannon, was terrific!)..it was an incredible Mother's day treat for me, my mom and my daughter. After our amazing lunch..we walked to and around Shoreline Village and the Pike. So..great location, fantastic food and service, well worth the price! The only negative...if you could call it that..was their website didn't have the updated Special Event menu for Mother's Day..so we didn't know what to expect ahead of time. No btig deal. We loved the choices we made. "

  • "Instead of being creative, instead of using flavorful spices, and instead of using costly but healthy ingredients, this restaurant caters to the masses by adding fat, fat and more fat (and a lot of salt). My California roll should have been called a Mayonnaise roll. The tiny amount of crab was overwhelmed by gobs of disgusting mayonnaise. The crab soup actually coagulated with the all the grease in it. I guess the formula is working -- Gladstone's has existed for a long time and always has a crowd. The tourists seem to love it; but if you want good taste and healthy ingredients, I recommend going elsewhere."

  • "We were not real impressed and will not dine here again. We had a 6:00 reservation and waited at least 30 minutes. Service was slow and they were not real attentive. Menu was on the expensive side and the food was just okay, too rich and fatty. It seems to be a tourist type place. "
