Diner Reviews
  • "We had a perfect booth with a terrific view and a nice lunch to celebrate my friend's birthday. The birthday girl loved the "surprise" - it was such fun! The food was good and it wasn't too crowded for that time of day (noon!) on a Thursday afternoon."

  • "I took my daughter here for her birthday. The service was wonderful and the staff was outstanding. She was turning 23 so obviously not a child. The staff made her birthday very nice without any embarrassment!"

  • "Had reservation for 4 people and asked ahead of time for an outside table with nice view; on arrival, did not get seated at a table with a nice view but an ok outside table in the shade. Disappointed because of the reservation request and the assurance of the requested seating. We asked for separate checks (2) and the server charged my bill with an appetizer that the other couple ordered and also served me a second wine (also) when the other party ordered a second wine--and I didn't order one and wasn't asked if I wanted another one. I didn't mention any of this at the time since I didn't want to make an issue of this in front of friends. Food was ok; service was good except for the errors mentioned."

  • "Seated outside on a Saturday night. Restaurant was busy as expected but server greeted us, rushing & clearly stressed out. Took drink & appetizer order. Apps took a very long time, causing the entire meal to be a disaster. Appetizer got delivered after a good 25 minutes if waiting. Then 1 minute later came our soup & salad and literally, 3 minutes later, server tried to deliver our entrees to us. We said take them back so we could actually eat all the other food that was now stacked on our table. 20 minutes later, delivered the same entrees to is, now cold and wilted looking. We refused them, manager apologized but the whole experience was horrible. We will never go back to this establishment."

  • "What can I say? Great food, super service and a wonderful location! The clam chowder is a must. The tuna is fresh and wonderfully prepared. The lobster was awesome! The outdoor patio is a great place to enjoy the SoCal area."

  • "Had a reservation for the patio but unable to get a decent table when we arrived and settled for a window seat (nice view) inside the restaurant. Took an old friend from the east coast there to catch up and enjoy the marina. The service was good but the food was overpriced and mediocre. The dining room quickly filled with families with small (preschool) children. The 2 year old in the booth next to ours jumped a lot and made loud noises, which his parents ignored. The room sound level got to a point where we quickly ended our meal to continue talking outside. Not what we expected, especially for the price. Before you call me a old grump, I raised kids of my own and have grandchildren who were well behaved in many restaurants over the years."

  • "made reservations online, when arrived the person seating us never read the reservation, did not greet us with a smle and seemed to get very server seemd to be non existant and pre-occupied, barely smiled and wore sun glasses the whole time. ordered starters which arrived after some time( to give you an ideal of the time, a family of 3 arrived ten min after us set next to us ordered drinks and appetizer and received there at the same time we got ours) we order our main courses before them and their food arrived atleast 5 mins before ours. my wife ordered stuffed salmon and potatoes and broc. the plate arrived with 4 nearly raw potatoes rolling around on the plate, and basically raw broc. i has fish and chips which had no hint of fish flavor"

  • "Gladstone's in Long Beach is located in a beautiful setting on the water. Unfortunately, the food and service was lousy. The only thing I can recommend is the bread they bring out to the table. We tried the Ahi Poke Tower as an appetizer. It was tasteless and we had to ask the waiter for soy sauce which took him 15 minutes to bring to our table. We ordered the lobster and shrimp linguini which we told them to take back as the fish was mealy. Another friend ordered the hamburger and it was dried out. There are too many good restaurants out there for me to waste my money on mediocre food...I won't be back!"

  • "Gladstone's in Long Beach has become one of those places I truly enjoy going for lunch and dinner! The servers are very attentive and have a great sense of humor plus they know the menu and offer wonderful suggestion/recommendations. While the menu is consistent - the fish selections do change and the preparations are perfectly suited to the fish. I love the PCH! I can relax and enjoy my food and no pressure to get out! That's a plus at a busy restaurant. Thanks Gladstone's in Long Beach"

  • "If you aren't in a hurry, this place is for you. It's the second time I've eaten here (previous time was 2 yrs ago) and it takes FOREVER to get food and the food really isn't worth waiting for. It isn't anything special and I won't return."

  • "I remember when this place used to stand out. it's just not the same any more and not the worth money. The menu is boring and not a lot of options and so was our server. She just took our order and didn't bother to engage us."

  • "The view of Long Beach harbor from the outdoor dining area is spectacular! I had the king crab legs and they were the best I have ever eaten. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The entertainment was enjoyable. This was a memorable dining experience."

  • "Everything about this trip to Gladstones was great with the exception of the initial contact with the Hostess. She was clearly very put out when she offered us a table we did not like the location of and requested another section of the patio. She told us that if we wanted the other section we would have to wait a few minutes, we said that was fine and she "barked" fine -then get back to the front and wait. If it were not for that initial contact the entire experience would have been perfect. The server was great!"

  • "Being a fan of the other Gladstone, make me compare the 2 and, unfortunately, this is is acceptable but far to be at the excellence level of the other at end of sunset boulevard: More classy set up would make you expect excellence when is is just good Food os good but not at level of expectation Service is approximative and not friendly While it is a good place, they must learn from the original Gladstone to justifie the r√©putation of the name."

  • "My wife got the Alaskan crab meal, a little pricy, but it was cooked just right and was delicious. I tried the fish trio, blackened - they were tasty but a bit more done that I prefer. Overall, nice location and friendly servers, just a bit slow and expected more for the price."

  • "It was a busy weekend night, but we were given a window booth with a good view after turning down the hostess's first choice, a high table in a high-traffic corner of the bar. The fish was a bit overcooked. Overall, the food was good but not excellent. The service was friendly but inattentive. This restaurant has potential, but they should try to improve the food and service a notch or two."

  • "We took a couple to Gladstone's to celebrate a friends birthday. The weather was picture perfect so, of course, we had an outdoor table with a spectacular view. The server, Dennis was personable and provided excellent service. The food was delicious and portions were generous. Our birthday guest received a huge tower of blue cotton candy and a"Happy Birthday" chorus. We received a complimentary postcard with photos of our group which was a great memento. We chose to purchase additional photos as well. A musical duo (guitarist/singer and drummer) began playing, so our dessert was accompanied by great music. A stroll around the pier after dinner as the sun set, was the perfect ending of a perfect evening."

  • "Very friendly and helpful employees. Decent wine list reasonably priced. Tough time selecting from a very enticing menu, but we settled on their grilled hearts of romaine and then the 1.5lb king crab dinner - fantastic!"

  • "We have been to this Gladstones maybe a dozen times and it doesn't seem to improve. The food is usually cold. The cooking is bland. The portions are very small for the price. Even the veggies are colorful leave something to be desired. The service was really slow. If you want to get a drink and socialize this is a great location, but for seafood it is really unimpressive."

  • "I went to celebrate my friend's birthday and I requested three times that a cake be brought out to her. I asked when I made the reservation, when I called to change the reserv. time over the phone, and when we got to the restaurant. I ordered a dessert for us at the end and it came with no candle, no singing, nothing. After finishing the dessert, I had to get up from the table and go find the waiter. They ended up bringing out a complimentary cotton candy, which was nice but not what I originally asked for. The sugar in the cotton candy melted onto the table making it very unappetizing. The waiter was nice but one of the hostesses was not! Our table had a nice view but I was not impressed with my entree: Lobster, Shrimp & Crab Linguini."

  • "My husband and I are always looking for something new to do on a weekend afternoon. Going to Gladstones was just the ticket as we had a beautiful view of boats, the Queen Mary and the weather was perfect. Had a salad and fish and chips with beers--perfect for a light meal. Waitress was superior!"

  • "Although we were going for more of a fine dining ambience, the food was 5-star. The atmosphere was nice, the staff and the manager were engaging. We will come back to this location to check out the night-time environemnt. We plan on going to the Malibu location for that fine dining experience."

  • "Sounded good. Hotel concierge felt good about it. Nice view. I got to enjoy the view a long time before I was waited on, and even longer until I was served. Food was good--nothing fantastic, but good and a relatively good value."

  • "What fun we had with friends. I had to pick a restaurant between Los Angeles and Oceanside......this was the place. Our food was excellent. Salads were great, fish and chips were the best I have had. Prices very reasonable. Sitting outside with the sun, a sea breeze and boats going by made this a great place to enjoy lunch. Our lunch lingered for almost two hours. We also liked the valet parking as finding a parking place in Long Beach can be tricky. We highly recommend Gladstones."
