Diner Reviews
  • "Having dined here a few times, this time was the least successful. In the past, I would have given it a very good, but all three of us in the party were disappointed with our dishes. To be fair, this restaurant is always slammed, but at other times, it has seemed better organized. The service was quite erratic and unusually slow. Are there not enough waitstaff? Hard to know, but something is amiss. And the food was not up the usual standards of the Glacier Brew House. Maybe we hit it on an off night - I hope so."

  • "Dined here during an overnight stopover after our cruise. A short walk from the Marriott Hotel. I'd recommend reservations as this place is hopping. Obviously a favorite with the locals. Great food, nice selection. Gluten free menu and kids menu."

  • "The so-called fresh halibut was very dry and mushy. In Alaska this is forbidden given that it comes from our waters and should be succulent and moist. I fault the cook and chef it letting this travesty occur. I am from Anchorage and know what good halibut tastes like."

  • "While in Anchorage, Glacier Brewhouse is a 'must' sort of place!"

  • "The glacier has been a family favorite for a long time! Just be sure you have a reservation in the summer, or you may have z ling wait!"

  • "We really enjoyed the Glacier BrewHouse. The food was great and of very good quality. The service was also really good. Despite being very busy, our server was quick and friendly. We would recommend making reservations as this place can get pretty crowded and the wait can be over an hour. Inside, the place is a bit loud but not terrible."

  • "Brewhouse is my favorite Anchorage restaurant and we always take our visitors for a meal!!! Have visited numerous times since moving here in 2012 and have NEVER been disappointed!!!"
    Dined on 6/30/2014
  • "Joyful and knowledgeable wait staff. Try the beer sampler, they brew some great house specialties."

  • "One of the worst meals I/we ever had. Seafood scramble was awful, chicken and vegetables cold, fish and chips cool, burger over done. Wait staff was off their game. It's too bad we used to come here monthly but it has gone downhill recently and that is a shame. I would rather go some where else even Texas Road House!"

  • "My husband got the crab legs, and I got the herb crusted halibut. Both delicious. And great beers!"

  • "My husband and I celebrated our birthdays with a special dinner at The Glacier Brewhouse. As always, the food was delicious, the portions more than ample and desserts were decadent. We were seated at one of the cozy tables for 2, and we just love those, because it's so intimate. While the fireplace wasn't lit, it was still very rustic and enjoyable, despite the very loud table of cruise passengers seated behind us. Definitely stop in and enjoy a meal if you have the chance."

  • "Food, drinks & service (Mark) was outstanding!!!! When we're back in AK, we shall be back at the Glacier!!!"

  • "As a relatively routine diner at the Glacier BrewHouse, here's my take on the latest visit: Appetizers: Calamari and Seafood Chowder. The Calamari was good as usual -- perhaps a bit greasy this time; the Chowder was lukewarm when delivered to the table. Main Courses: Salmon Special with Mashed Potatoes, and Caesar Salad with Grilled Salmon. Both well prepared and solid choices. Of note during this visit was the time between ordering a beer and having it arrive at the table, which was only 2-3 minutes (down from the 5-7 minutes I've waited in the past). The blonde beer is very good!"

  • "We enjoyed our dinner at Glacier BrewHouse very much. The waitstaff was attentive and offered dining recommendations for us as well as accomodating changes to menu items. The Salmon was wonderful and the Halibut excellent. The restaurant was comfortable and it was easy to carry on a conversation."

  • "The Glacier Brewhouse was very busy but the service was very good! Fresh seafood was excellent as were the house brews. Only downside was that they were unable to accomodate a table of 4 changing to a table of 5 at a larger table. 5 full size men squeezed around a square table for 4 was a bit tight."

  • "I went their for the first time with my girlfriend for a date, I ordered the rib-eye and my gf ordered a half pound of Alaskan King Crab Leg. While my rib-eye was great it actually would've tasted better if it was cooked medium-rare instead of medium. My girlfriend's food however, well, there were two medium sized crab legs. They tasted a bit rubbery like they were cooked too much but they were still sweet. The beers were cold and refreshing. Not spectacular but still one of the better restaurants in Anchorage."

  • "If you only have a night or two in Anchorage, this is a great find. I loved it. The food was fresh and truly outstanding. The service matched that same high quality. I am sure there are other good restaurants in town but, once we found the Glacier Brewhouse, we came back for a second time. Just to give you a suggestion, the calamari appetizer and the rockfish entree were wonderful. Try it; you'll love it."

  • "We went to the Glacier BrewHouse for Father's Day, and needless to say it was packed! As busy as it was, the food was wonderful , came out quickly, and the service was great! I would definitely recommend making reservations though if you don't want to wait!"

  • "Love GBH! Good food and drink variety, excellent microbrews, and the food is always very good. A bit noisy, but otherwise a great Alaskan ambiance. Service is second to none. I've never had a bad server."

  • "the food was very good, as was the service. very, very busy place but took us in on time with our reservation. no place to really sit and have. drink while waiting for table."

  • "Not enough food. Had to order double veggies and potatoes. Server was slow and confused."

  • "This was my first time trying Glacier Brewhouse's brunch and I was very happy with the quality of the food. The waffle I ordered was delicious, how can you go wrong with an oatmeal stout waffle? The price was a little much for only one waffle, but it makes sense with the amount of fresh berry compote and maple syrup you get. Service was great and everything was enjoyable. 4/5"

  • "Very crowded this time of year with the tourists. Had to change my reservation from 1945 to something earlier due to the friends with us having to work early the next day. Open Table did a great job rescheduling our res to 1730. The restaurant has always been a fav of ours for the food and microbrew beers. We try to eat here at least once each year during our visit."

  • "We saved one of our best meals for the last while in Anchorage. I usually don't spend as much as we did for a dinner but it was really wonderful. We will be back on our next trip from the Midwest."
    Dined on 6/16/2014
  • "This restaurant had a nice variety of food and since it was our first restaurant experience in Anchorage, we didn't know what to expect. The setting and the atmosphere belies the dining experience. The food was not only visually appealing, it was quite good. The wait staff was very attentive even with a crazy busy Father's Day crowd. All in all, good experience!"

  • "Dined twice while in Anchorage and a combo business and fun trip. The seafood was outstanding, from soups, appetizers to entrees. This is the place to eat in downtown Anchorage! One tip: You need an (Open Table) reservation. The place is packed and long waits for a table are not unusual since the place is popular with locals, business and tourist crowds. Even with a reservation, we waited close to a half hour. So don't leave home without one!"

  • "As with all Open Table bookings we were seated promptly with a good table. Restaurant was booked with a substantial waiting line. Service and food at this restaurant excellent. Would certainly recommend as well as return. Thumbs up."

  • "We chose The Glacier Brewhouse to celebrate our 34th Wedding Anniversary and were not disappointed with our choice. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was great and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Love the local seafood dishes."

  • "Very overrated and hyped. The food and service are just about average."
    Dined on 6/7/2014
  • "Very busy but once we were seated did not have to wait for out food or beverages. Nice sized portions and a good price for Alaska. Our group tried the Root Beer, Cream Soda as well as several of the house brews and enjoined them all."

  • "I love glacier brewhouse they always have excellent service and great food it has something for everyone "

  • "Everyone at our table ordered fish and chips for lunch. Non of us finished our food and we were all in agreement that the fish taste fresh but it was too greasy and that the panko breading cutup the inside of our mouths. We also agreed that we would not order that particular dish from them again. I'm sure that Glacier BrewHouse has dishes that are good but I wouldn't recommend them for fish and chips. The coffee was fresh and very good and the service was excellent."

  • "The best seafood in Anchorage and an extensive gluten-free menu. The staff was very knowledgable of the gluten-free options"

  • "The scene was active and busy, and I was glad to have reservations. We were promptly seated and the service was very good. The staff were responsive and friendly. The calamari was great, as usual, and the rib eye steaks were cooked to order and very flavorful. For our next visit we plan to try the ribs or perhaps some grilled fresh salmon."

  • "We visited Anchorage too many times to really know over 2 years of living in AK, being there roughly every other weekend to shop. This was our first time to have the Brewhouse recommended to us. They had just had a fresh catch of Copper River Reds and Halibut at the opening of the season--I chose Halibut, though I do miss my Sockeye from the Copper fresh from the fishwheel. I am going to bet it was good, too. We did not have room for desert due to the generous portions. We want to go back when we return someday (not living in AK anymore)."

  • "Great food! We love the bleu cheese salad with grapes and candied pecans. And the halibut is wonderful! We finished off this year with the bread pudding, also wonderful. We come up every year from the Seattle area. We wouldn't miss the chance to dine at the Brewhouse!"
