  • "Excellent dining experience all around. Proprietor was very friendly and attentive as was our server. Food was tasty and well presented. Try the calamari Guilo. 19th century house converted to restaurant with a lot of charm. Good for a quiet romantic meal or a special occasion."

  • "Restaurant Week - food was fair. Filet mignon in sauce tasted like minute steak. Fried calamari appet. was good. Whitecliff wine is good value. Best days are behind i suppose by the lack of patronage on sat. night."

  • "We went partly because it was restaurant week and their online menu looked good. We arrived, we sat, we were given menus - but not the Special Restaurant Week menu. When we asked for it, they they went to get one. The same thing happened at the table next to us. Although the price included appetizer, entree, and dessert, the prices for the desserts were added onto our check. We had to call the waitress over again to show it to her. They took the check, removed the extra charges, and then brought it back to us. But, really, this is quite unacceptable - not giving us menu and then adding extras. The filet mignon "cutlets" (read the fine print) could hardly be considered filet mignon- 3 ultra thin overcooked slices. Nice house, though."

  • "Another wonderful dinner at Giulio's. The staff was very attentive, and the food absolutely delicious. Calamari was perfect with a tasty red sauce to accompany it. I had the ravioli special, portobella mushroom with chicken in a vodka sauce, which was the best I've had. Portion was large enough to bring some home. My husband enjoyed the veal parmesan and agreed his meal was excellent also. Dessert and coffee finished off a delightful evening. I would certainly recommend Giulio's to anyone wanting a pleasant atmosphere and a thoroughly enjoyable dining experience."

  • "This wonder restaurant never ceases to please. The beautiful grand house from the 1800's is a wonderful setting for a quiet dinner or a celebration. With the fireplace roaring, the great food, wonderful service…there is nothing missing. I have been dining at Giulios since the 1970's. Although new owners now took over, the quality and elegance still prevails. The salmon is delicious, and he veal is fabulous. My dining partner raved about the calamari. A great place to an enjoyable dining experience. Gene is a terrific server."

  • "Ate from the Restaurant Week menu and everything was delicious! The service was also excellent although on a Thursday night it wasn't so crowded that we were competing for attention…will definitely go back!"

  • "Server didn't even mention the Hudson Valley Restaurant week specials we specifically went there for. We had to ask. Service was poor. Most dishes were okay but nothing note worthy."

  • "Although friendly enough, we were left with empty wine glasses for 15 minutes. Food quality was poor - Veal Milanese was an Arugula salad dumped on top of very dry overcooked breaded veal. The seafood special barely had any meat in the lobster tail - to the point that I had to look twice to see if they gave me empty shells! Overall the food was lousy, the service nonexistent - although the waitress we flagged down apologized and gave us one glass of wine on the house so at least she tried, but she couldn't make up for the quality of the food. We will never return."

  • "I love the relaxed feel of this place in a Victorian house. The T-bone steak with smashed potatoes is simply amazing. My wife loved the skirt steak. Service was well-timed and friendly, drinks were reasonably priced."

  • "We had a nice Christmas Eve dinner at Giulios. Ambience was beautiful, service good and food was very good although we had to send all 3 of our dinners back bc they were not hot. But still tasted great. Always love to go to Giulios!"

  • "Ordered Shrimp &n lobster Risotto. Risotto was "rice" and sauce was without flavor. Home page photos gave the impression it was a more romantic environment. It was not! Dining Room was empty at 8 PM on a Saturday night. I would never go back or, recommend!"

  • "They do not offer you the restaurant week menu unless you ask for it. While other restaurants encourage you to try their restaurant week selection. The bill was not easy to read, had everything ordered as a total, when I said it was part of restaurant week they then pointed out that they took $20.00 off the check to match the menu price. I still think I was over charged."

  • "I had not been to Giulio's is some time, had been there and the prior manager, young lady named Diane who was horrible and I swore I would never return. However after hearing such great reviews from friends about the new ownership we decided to return. What a wonderful time. Glad to see the owners took care of the issues in the restaurant and have returned Giulio's to a destination in Rockland County."

  • "It is nice to be able to go to a nice restaurant with my kids. Excellent service and food. We had a table for 5, nice private table so my kids could be kids. No pressure or feeling like we were disturbing the restaurant. Great owner. Great Service. Great Food. Well done Giulio's."

  • "If you go, enjoy the appetizers and the drinks and the historical home, but don't waste your time and money on the entrees. We were a party of 7, we all ordered different things, and no one liked their food. The pan fried pork chop was bland and smothered in apple sauce, topped with potato pancakes that were way too salty and tasted like they were made hours ago. The filet mignon special was ordered medium rare and came out overcooked and smothered in a heavily salted mushroom gravy. The gravy had to be scraped off in order to make the steak edible, and even then, it was awful. The stuffed chicken breasts were bland and the serving was tiny--my husband was still hungry when we left. This is cafeteria food at upscale restaurant prices."

  • "Made reservation for a late dinner. Had car trouble along the way, called and arrived 1/2 hour late. Was greeted warmly and with relief that we were able to get there. Had a quick dinner, eggplant parm for my wife, and linguini with clam sauce for me. Both were delicious. The restaurant is in an old mansion, beautifully decorated and is quite a romantic setting. After dinner called for a tow for the car. Staff waited as long a they could, offering refreshments to us. When they finally had to leave, the maitr'e d gave us her home phone number to call if there was any problem. In view of the concern of the staff, and good food, we will definitely eat here again"

  • "Never a disappointment, Giulios is one of those restaurants that is always a treat. A bit quiet this evening....but we did not mind having the whole place to ourselves! The bronzinii was excellent, as was the red snapper. The bread pudding (warmed) was a wonderful dessert. The ambiance, service, food and mood make this a top notch restaurant to frequent."

  • "I am a native New Yorker, meaning NYC resident for my entire life. One of the things that our city is noted for is its amazing food and culinary creativity. Guilio's has everything that a quaint old restaurant should have. The atmosphere is perfect for a romantic evening out, its design is old tea room style. The service is good, but the food makes the entire $200 tab worth is. Lobster and Shrimp Risotto was my entree.. and my spouse enjoyed a Chef's special with fish, scallops and shrimp over spinach. The tiramisu was a huge portion and delicious. We will definitely visit again."

  • "We had two kids for a 7p reserv after a day of driving. We asked the server if we could have a spirited pace about our meal and she assured us that she understood completely. We were put upstairs in a separate room alone with a couple trying to have a quiet meal. We ordered after about 10 min of waiting. After 50 min of waiting for our meals, we were ready to bail but were assured everything was on it's way out. The couple in the room had ordered just before us and were still waiting as well. A full hour after ordering, our meals arrived, 2 were not what we ordered. It was a mess. I wish I could say the food was amazing to make up for it, but it wasn't. Other reviews were great, so maybe this was an off night, but we wouldn't return."

  • "Picked Giulio's as a place for our 46th Anniversary. Quietly elegant. Used Open Table and was seated as requested. Attentive hostess and server made the meal all the more pleasant. Back to back T-Bones cooked to perfection (as usual)."

  • "Restaurant is in a gorgeous old house that was beautifully restored. The menu is interesting and the food is fresh and nicely prepared. We started with a pear and bleu salad, nicely plated. The linguine in white clam sauce was a step above a local rest. as they served the whole clams in the shell. Chicken Scarpariello was tender and flavorful. We didn't have room for dessert."

  • "What a surprise in Tappan NY! Charming renovated historical home. Food was excellent and made to order. Everything was about service and providing their A game. We will be going back again and again. Save room for the desserts too, they are off the hook! Imagine a banana brûlée or a corn torte, not typical or safe desserts, but definitely worth making room for. You can make reservations right on line, so easy."
